Cute little restaurant had the shiriyaki and my husband had the beef udon both very good. Waitress was nice and it as a good experience. They do nickel and dime you however, charged me .50 for a side of sriracha sauce condiments should be free at a restaurant come on.... read more

the best ramen noodles we've EVER had!!! The broth was full of flavor and the ramen was freshly made!! MUST GO!! We were on our way to Utah and looked up on yelp so glad we picked this place. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!!! You should know that Saturdays they only have a limited menu where they only serve ramen plus seating is very limited. read more

this place is bombbbbb! I highly recommend, the sushi was amazing. I have yet to try their other dishes, but based off first experience I'm for sure going back! it's a small space but it's a nice environment, if you're tryna have some traditional Japanese, go here! read more

Horrible service for mediocre food. I took my family out here for lunch only to wait almost an hour for our food while others who've ordered after us continue to get their food first. Definitely not coming back to this place again; not worth it! read more

If you want the experience of an authentic home-made Japanese meal, Hanamaru is the place! Go on a Saturday around noon to get their famous ramen noodles. Roy and his wife will make you feel like a guest in their home. Be prepared to wait for an available table, since there is only 5, but, it is definitely worth the wait! read more

This place was amazing. The staff is Japanese and the food is very authentic. The food and service was outstanding and brings me back to when I lived in Japan. There is limited seating so I would make reservations beforehand. read more

One of the best sushi places I've been to in or out of Utah. Everything I've had here is great! One of my favorite things is the calamari it's always tender and perfectly fried. read more

It is a great atmosphere and the ramen was delicious! Our server was also very accommodating and although we had to wait a while for a table, it was definitely worth it. I loved the whole experience! read more

The only reason I'm not giving this five stars is because they don't sell beer or wine and I like a drink with my meal. Although it is amazing how much less you pay when you don't add a couple of drinks to the bill, so this could be a blessing in disguise. My husband travels to Japan for work quite often and he is a huge fan of Japanese food. If you like Japanese food, this is the real deal (without being so real that they serve raw horse because my husband has actually eaten that in Japan). This is a small family owned restaurant and they get busy on weekends, but I believe you can make a reservation. The people are really nice and the service is excellent. I've had the rolls, noodles, mocchi ice cream and lots of other stuff. It is all yummy. read more

As a college kid going to weber state, I was introduced to this restaurant by many of the international students I hang out with. I was immediately hooked after the first visit and now make weekly visits to the restaurant. However, I marked 4 stars because having to order yourself and do everything yourself besides the cooking is inconvenient. Other than that this place is a true gem of Ogden and should be treated as such. read more

I cannot confirm authenticity as i've never been to japan but i can say it so delicious. I've sampled most of the menu and have never been disapointed. The atmosphere is great too, especially if you sit at the bar. It gets pretty busy but isn't very large though so be sure to make a reservation. read more

Excellent Japanese good. I've been to Japan many times and I can tell you this is (for the most part) the best and most authentic Japanese food in the area. I usually get seafood, so I cant comment on the meat dishes, but all of the seafood I've had has been very high quality. read more

Recently went there for a birthday dinner for the first time. First of all I love that the shop feels like stepping inside Japan and the owners are actually Japanese. The food is authentic and delicious and didn't take long to make at all! The waitress and the owners are very friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want an authentic Japanese experience. read more

This place has delicious and authentic Japanese food, if you're in Ogden I highly suggest it!

As I am sitting here eating my Niku Soba, I cannot stop stuffing myself. The Ramen here is delicious . The food is cooked right in front of you. My favorite part about this dish has to be the broth. There is so much flavor it's outstanding! And the staff are more than friendly and welcoming! In my opinion, 4 out 5 stars! read more

Hanamaru - Great food with amazing presentation! - Japanese Near Me - Ogden, Utah

See all

The owner Chef Yamamoto, is a graduate from Japan's prestigious culinary school, Tsuji culinary Institute. No wonder food taste good here. Family owned and operated, his son is the sushi chef on Tuesdays for Happy hour. Apparently all interior design and decorations were built by the chef himself. I'm here every Tuesday religiously to try his kitchen item. A true Japanese cuisine you can't find anywhere in Utah. read more

YAY!!!!! Hanamaru has re-opened! Hanamaru is GREAT! The new location is beautiful and cozy. You feel like you've been invited into a peaceful Japanese home. I walked in for the first time since they re-opened and at every table sat older Japanese men and women. I thought "Yep this is the place!" The food is delicious and authentic. The ambience is clean and peaceful. Every time I go there I feel like I stepped back into Japan. The owners are friendly, take time to chat and always try to personally say 'thank you' as every customer leaves. This is a great place to enjoy a break from your day. read more

Great food! Inside is small but comfortable. I wish they had sake or japanese beer but still a great restaurant. Will definitely come back!

I love this restaurant! I've lived in Okinawa, JP for 10+ years and it really reminds me of my home when I come here. You can tell the food is made by heart, the atmoshphere is relaxing and it has a cafe-like style. Their sushi is filling and it satisfied me. If you're looking for real Japanese food, this place is it. (: read more

My adult daughter and I went on Friday for lunch. I had the chicken rice bowl and she had the beef udon. I can't wait to go on Saturday lunch for Ramen. read more

Great food, great service. I didn't care for the house dressing, but that's just my taste. Everything else was wonderful.

Super authentic and finely made. Prices aren't bad. 20 bucks filled my wife and I up.

The food had such of delicious authentic taste. The environment is very welcoming and they makes you feel like you are in Japan. The Vegas and rainbow rolls were so good and the fish was so fresh and tasty, it seriously melted in your mouth. I highly recommend this place for sure. I haven't left and I want to come back. read more

This place is the Bomb! The services is good. The food is awesome and the price is right.

Love going here for delicious ramen on Saturdays! Friendly staff and a good place to go with friends.

I like ramen. They have good ramen. It's perfect. (started coming over four years ago and I still come back)

One of our favorite places to eat Japanese food! A hidden gem in ogden. Make a reservation this place is small. Highly recommend the sukiyaki, tempura dinne and tonkatsu prices are really reasonable. Service is fast. A must try. read more

Awful! Zero service, it's not a restaurant, it's a food counter. Tempura was dripping with grease, very little batter. Salad was iceberg lettuce, 1 piece of broccoli, 2 carrot slices. Sushi selection is minimal and quality was ok. I asked for lemon for water and received a one word answer "no!". So many better options nearby. read more

Great dinner experience. Low service configuration that left us no less satisfied. Make your own order and hand it to the chef, and then plates delivered as they're complete. We sampled the sushi and the noodles, the beef one had little more than tiny cuttings, otherwise I'd leave 5 stars. read more

I've been here three times because I really really wanted to like it, but the food is inferior and overpriced based on the value. We ordered 9 different dishes on three separate occasions and there was always something wrong. The tempera was cold and greasy (yuck! was it cooked the day before?), the salmon way way over cooked and almost jerky-like (15% of it was blackened from the grill) the agedashi tofu appetizers were served a full 10 minutes after our main course. The portion sizes are wildly inconsistent. When we asked for more bonito sauce (one person had twice as much as another) we were told it would cost extra. The protocol for getting a seat and ordering is also ridiculous. read more

My favorite sushi place in Ogden. There's something great about a chef putting maximum effort into the creation of each piece of sushi. I eat here several times a week and have yet to be disappointed. Always fresh and super affordable! read more

This place came out of nowhere for me. I was just in the mood for Japanese cuisine and found it here on Yelp. At first I was taken aback by how small it looked from the outside, but by the end of my meal I had fallen in love with this quant establishment. It is now home to the most friendly atmosphere of any Japanese restaurant I've ever gone to, and the food was utterly fantastic. If you're a fan of Japanese cuisine, you owe it to yourself to dine with one of the best. read more

Hanamaru is a small (when I say small I mean like 6 table) restaurant. The ambience of the place is really calming and relaxing (despite when I went there was a large, loud group right next to my table). I got the tempura soba and shared a tuna sashimi, spider roll, hamachi roll, and spicy salmon roll with my family. The sashimi was a little cold for my tastes but was still very good, the spider roll was my least favorite of the rolls as the crab was deep fried. The hamachi roll was my favorite because it had a kind of sour taste to it. The soba I got was really good, I was afraid with the noodles being buckwheat I wouldn't like it but I actually loved it! My dad got the katsu curry rice and really enjoyed it, despite him thinking it'd be like Indian curry. Overall my experience was enjoyable and the ordering system is really interesting and reminds me of ordering at authentic dim sum restaurants. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Best Japanese food in Utah. Huge portions for a good price. I had the Tonkatsu bento and it was $9.99. There was sooo much food and it was all amazingly delicious! read more

Juat OK food if you are hungry and I am being generous with the number of stars.

I'm sure glad I looked on Yelp for sushi in Riverdale! I never would have found it without it. Awesome sushi and a great atmosphere at a great price. I will be back - often! read more

The best Japanese restaurant in Ogden. Udon soup and any of rolls. Seriously good stuff

Best Japanese restaurant we've ever been to. Amazing sushi, amazing pork tonkatsu with curry sauce. SO GOOD, and very reasonably priced.

Hanamaru is very average for Japanese food (nihon shoku) the girl must be the owner's daughter as she appears to have limited hostess/waitress skills. My efforts to make a reservation were horrible. I called several (really? like 6 times) and was met with no answer, no call back, I would come back only because it is tiring to drive back to SLC for decent Japanese food. read more

We are glad we tried Hanamaru on this snowy Saturday (they have limited hours on Saturday for their tonkatsu ramen). It was good! It is not easy to find but worth the search. We had pork tonkatsu along with gyoza. The restaurant has been converted from a house into a restaurant. The décor is subtle Japanese and very clean and intimate. The staff was friendly and attentive. I would have to say that Koko's in SLC is much better.. read more
