Sushi Hana first visit. Ordered on line and picked up my order. Odd experience while waiting for order in the restaurant at a table. The restaurant was not busy at the time but it was only shortly after 5:00. The waiter handed me my order and I thanked him. No response from this young man and he kind of sneered and looked away. Maybe he was offended by my mask wearing. As I was leaving though the proprietor woman said Thank You from a distance. I kindly looked back and gave her a nice wave. Then I heard a young man say Your Welcome loudly - I glanced around and saw no young man other than two young male waiters. I then responded with a Your Welcome of my own. All very strange, unsettling and dissappointing. I had left a 20% tip so I do not think that was the issue. I was nicely dressed enough for the occasion as well. I had no interaction with anyone else in the restaurant. The food was good with the exception of the nigiri yellowtail. Why they would serve such a stringy cut lacking flavor or taste is beyond me. Sort of like the last two inches of the tail. Do they look upon takeout customers as less value? I would have thought better of Sushi Hana given their higher prices. read more

The spicy tuna is just a tuna roll with a bit of a kick, but it very high quality, fresh and doesn't burn your tongue off like some other places. The chicken teriyaki was exceptional - not a generic teriyaki-joint-style, overly sweet sauced chicken mess. Definitely a more mild sauce that has some depth of flavor to it. Where the 5-star rating comes in is the salad and miso soup they give you (complimentary). No really! This is an incredible salad, I wish it was on the menu with some fish for protein. I don't know what the sauce is, but that was the best salad I've ever had in my life. The miso soup was good too, but it was just miso soup as far as I'm concerned. The waitresses are truly caring and hospitable. No other restaurant I've been to at this price point has waitresses like Hana. Very fitting considering the charm of this place is like no other in Bothell; the atmosphere here is uniquely placid. I took my daughter here on a weekday when they first opened up. The place was nice and clean when we arrived. There was a max of 3 other parties the whole time I was there so our service was pretty prompt. We ordered four rolls. The Spicy Salmon, Spicy Scallop, California Roll, and Shrimp Tempura. California rolls are pretty similar everywhere you go. Everything tasted fresh but its nothing special. The Spicy Salmon was pretty basic with Salmon and spicy mayo. It had a decent amount of spice on the salmon itself. Normally you can barely taste any spice on them. The Spicy Scallop was basically the same roll as the salmon just substituting the protein. The Shrimp Tempura was good. It was lightly battered and didn't make the batter the star but rather highlighted the shrimp. Sushi = 3 Stars. read more

Food is average, service is terrible, take a long time even to bring you the menu, they are rude.

I ordered a lot of nigiri and it took me a couple of pieces to decide if the issue was the soy sauce, the wasabi, the rice or the fish. It's the rice. Just a bit too sweet and not even soy sauce and wasabi could cover it up. I wound up picking off the fish and eating it as sashimi, which didn't fill me up. $50 lunch and I left unsatisfied both in volume and taste. read more

We order delivery from Hana Sushi and the food is always excellent. The biggest problem is that they include very little wasabi with the order. For example, today we ordered 7 sushi rolls and I paid extra for 2 more servings of wasabi. The order came with a total of two wasabi packets. They either don't include any wasabi with their sushi, or they forgot to include the extra that I paid for. Either way, they seem to think that two tiny wasabi packets (along with two soy sauce packets) is enough for 7 rolls. This happens nearly every time we order. I've sent the restaurant multiple messages about this issue. They charge fifty cents for each tiny wasabi packet, so maybe the solution is to simply pay extra for as many as we will need with the assumption that they don't include any for free. read more

Extremely disappointed after doing takeout yesterday. We ordered 3 bentos and 3 rolls and were shocked at the extremely small portions of the boxes, especially for the price. One bento is not enough for one person. The color of the sashimi and fish on the rolls was off/not fresh, there were a few pieces for California rolls, very little teriyaki which was also hard to eat, the vegetable tempura was not fully cooked ... I was really shocked because I remember visiting Hana Sushi in the past and thinking their quality was better than this. We've been hearing about Hana Sushi for awhile now, even before we moved to Bothell. And today, they did not disappoint! Amazing, absolutely delicious, melt in your mouth sashimi. The rest of the dishes were awesome too. Great service as well, they were very accommodating with our infant. We'll be back, for sure Update: we went back, and were amazed even more so I have to bump up the stars. Their service is just fantastic. Our infant threw up quite massively (nothing to do with the restaurant) and they couldn't have been nicer about it! They wished that she feels better and didn't let us help clean up the mess. Excellent sushi in downtown Bothell. I love the lunch specials and can always trust that Hobin, the owner and head chef, will create an amazing assortment of sushi rolls and nigiri each time I visit. Hana sushi isn't the best sushi in town. Their rolls are so small and just don't stand out compared to their competitors. They win the record for smallest rolls I've ever had. It's not that the sushi was bad, I will say it was fresh and executed with great care and beautiful presentation. Service was fine, ambiance was simple and nice. We took our dad here for his birthday, I chose the spot, and the 3 of us agreed that they sort of skimped on roll size, not enough to go around. We have lived near this place for a year now but had not as of yet, stopped in for a meal. It's not necessarily our go to food choice but we do occasionally like to eat Japanese and always a place with Sushi for my enjoyment. To say that the meal was exceptional would be an understatement. I did find the order of Uni at $11.00 a bit over the top but in the last year and a half at several restaurants, I did find it unavailable. My wife ordered a Bento assortment which came with the usual tempura assortment, salad, miso soup rice and teriyaki chicken. Yes, it was the usual assortment but tempura was delicious and the coating crisp and light, the rice perfectly cooked al denti and the chicken with an unusually topping that we wished we had a straw for it was so good. I ordered a crispy roll that was very good. One warning although is that it was about 4 inches around and almost impossible to eat without disassembling it. Thought I give it a try because of the good reviews but obviously they don't know what good sushi is. Sushi is as much about presentation as it is about freshness/taste. The normals rolls, the rice was all over the place, not the clean presentation you'd expect of a good sushi place. The freshness of the fish is their saving grace but it's hard to find a place with bad seafood around Seattle. The worst was the tempura and the karaage. Not the crispy crunchy you would expect but soggy, filled with oil and just really sad looking. Forgot to even take pictures of the food because It didn't look good at all. read more
