Hana sushi isn't the best sushi in town. Their rolls are so small and just don't stand out compared to their competitors. They win the record for smallest rolls I've ever had. It's not that the sushi was bad, I will say it was fresh and executed with great care and beautiful presentation. Service was fine, ambiance was simple and nice. We took our dad here for his birthday, I chose the spot, and the 3 of us agreed that they sort of skimped on roll size, not enough to go around. Ikiiiki in kenmore and tuna house in Bellevue knock it out of the park! read more

Overall - we will definitely be back. The food was high quality and the service was warm and welcoming. However, for some reason our server (out of 3) seemed to have most of the tables in the place. The other two servers would help their tables then stand near the back. They could benefit from better structuring the sections. But when things went wrong, they did comp us more than generously. We ordered edamame (perfectly done with lots of salt), chicken teriyaki with spicy tuna, California roll, and Chirashi. All genuinely wonderfully prepared. read more

Adorable setting with great service and nice prices. My udon soup was great. I'd order it again, for sure. The sashimi I sampled was tasty and fresh. Bothell isn't known for its culinary scene, but rest assured, Hana Sushi will satisfy you without breaking the bank. read more

Today we had lunch at a fabulous Japanese Restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered a variety of sushi rolls!!! They were Excellent!!! On top of that our server was very gracious! We enjoyed our meal and will return in the near future!!! read more

The warm towel to clean your hands is a really nice touch, and the restaurant felt comfortable yet clean. Dishes to try: +Nabeyaki Udon: Delicious seafood broth that comes out piping hot; make sure to mix it up before you start eating (the flavor settles to the bottom while you let it cool). +Spicy Yellowtail Roll: The spiciness isn't so overpowering that you can't taste the fish, which is what I dislike about spicy yellowtail rolls elsewhere. +Crunchy Roll: Crunchy indeed, with a nice balance of flavors. Street parking is limited along the front of the restaurant, but parking is easy to find up the hill. I came for dinner on a weeknight and it was packed, but only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. We could have sat at the bar a few minutes sooner, but we saw that a table was opening up. The food looks like it was left out all day and then served to me. Tastes like yesterday's food. Rice was hard, avacados were browned. I'm appalled I paid $70 for this. Doodoo sushi, didn't even mean to order from here. My usual spot is sushi Hana across from T-Mobile and they're a fraction of the price and better. Accidentally called this place. Should have known something was fishy when they asked for my card number. read more

Definitely not the best sushi I have had but it wasn't terrible either... not a fan of the seaweed-wrapped sushi, which several of ours were. And I didn't feel like there was a lot of variety of sushi choices/combinations on the menu. But I will say the staff was very friendly and the prices were really good. read more

We have lived near this place for a year now but had not as of yet, stopped in for a meal. It's not necessarily our go to food choice but we do occasionally like to eat Japanese and always a place with Sushi for my enjoyment. To say that the meal was exceptional would be an understatement. I did find the order of Uni at $11.00 a bit over the top but in the last year and a half at several restaurants, I did find it unavailable. My wife ordered a Bento assortment which came with the usual tempura assortment, salad, miso soup rice and teriyaki chicken. Yes, it was the usual assortment but tempura was delicious and the coating crisp and light, the rice perfectly cooked al denti and the chicken with an unusually topping that we wished we had a straw for it was so good. I ordered a crispy roll that was very good. One warning although is that it was about 4 inches around and almost impossible to eat without disassembling it. The rainbow roll at the table next to us looked like a better choice. Miso was a la carte with the roll. . read more

Thought I give it a try because of the good reviews but obviously they don't know what good sushi is. Sushi is as much about presentation as it is about freshness/taste. The normals rolls, the rice was all over the place, not the clean presentation you'd expect of a good sushi place. The freshness of the fish is their saving grace but it's hard to find a place with bad seafood around Seattle. The worst was the tempura and the karaage. Not the crispy crunchy you would expect but soggy, filled with oil and just really sad looking. Forgot to even take pictures of the food because It didn't look good at all. read more

Very friendly family-run sushi spot. We love to sit at the sushi bar and take the chef's suggestions, which are always spot-on. Prices are good for the high quality that you get. We like having our own boxes for saki, and come here at least every other week , if not more often. read more

We were headed upstairs to get some Tacos and stumbled across this cute little sushi place and changed our minds!! Sushi sounded lighter and healthier, so we figured that was the better choice! It. Was. Delicious. There's really no "reasons" as to why it's not 5 - star, but for whatever reason, I can't just give it 5 stars... Our server was great, sushi was delicious, and the atmosphere was pretty plain but I liked it. I dropped my napkin on the floor, and I was unable to request a replacement due to the absence of a call button, no option to order napkins on the tablet, and the invisibility of servers. This situation is unpleasant, particularly with soy sauce spilled on the table. I was quite frustrated. The constant overlap of loud radio music and zen music from the robot is not ideal. I would prefer it if the Japanese "Zen" music from the robot was played all the time, while the background radio station was turned off. The radio's energetic vibe does not fit with the restaurant's layout and atmosphere. Alternatively, using Zen music as background music and turning off the robot's music would be a better option. This is my opinion. I have mix uneasy feeling to dine here. I believe technology is most effective in a busy restaurant with adequate staff. The atmosphere, layout, music, staff, and food quality do not cohesively come together.

In addition to an appetizer, two of us shared three specialty sushi rolls and the other two in our group ordered the chicken katsu meal set. Our sushi arrived beautifully all on one plate. Each specialty roll included 10 pieces and they all contained a generous amount of filling with a relatively thin rice layer, making the average price of $18 - $19 per roll worth the value. + TAKOYAKI ($7.50): These deep-fried dumplings had a soft creamy interior and housed a small piece of tender octopus. Four pieces came in an order, topped with mayo, unagi sauce and bonito flakes. I loved the crispy exterior and they were served steaming hot. I am not sure they were made in-house or frozen, but they were delicious. + KOUSHI ROLL ($17.99): A crab, avocado and cucumber roll topped with cajun seared salmon, spicy mayo, unagi sauce, green onion and fish roe. Between the crab filling and spicy mayo, this is a pretty creamy roll. The salmon on top had a very light sear, so while the smoky flavor was noticeable, I considered it closer to raw. The balance of flavors, the depth, the execution -- all of it was exceptional. I had looked at their menu beforehand and had decided to get the Gyro Platter, Butter Masala with Chicken, and the Goat Biryani, hoping the Goat would also mean "Greatest of All Time." I also got some butter and garlic naan to go with the meal. When I came in, Azmat was there to serve me. He had such a pleasant and calming demeanor that I wish the quality of the food would have matched that of his level of service. After reciting my order to him, he mentioned it would take 15 to 20 minutes for my order to be ready. I was sitting in a seat by the front door while several other customers came in to pick up their online orders. I thought about ordering online, but realized it would have cost a few dollars extra to do so, hence why I decided to go there in person to order. After 10 minutes, a server noticed me sitting there and offered to assist. I knew it was early, so there wasn't much she could do at this point. 15 minutes later, an employee came from the back to hand me my takeout order while apologizing for the long wait. Well, not too bad of an extended wait though. But what was too bad was the two Indian dishes that I ordered. Neither the Goat Biryani nor the Butter Masala really left any impression whatsoever. They definitely didn't taste bad, but I felt the flavors in both were quite muted. I did like the Gyro Platter better, though, but I wouldn't say it was as good as other Mediterranean spots I've been to in SoCal. The Naan breads didn't leave any impression either; I would have guessed it was just plain Naan bread. For a fraction of the cost, I'm sure you could go to one of Safeway, Fred Meyer, or even QFC for a pack of plain Naan bread that would taste almost as good. Bay Leaf Bar & Grill is located at the base of the Junction Apartments next to McMenamins Anderson School. There's plenty of parking closer to the school, but parking adjacent to Bay Leaf is quite scarce. There's a wide bike path that almost looks like a sidewalk, but is wide enough for cars to drive through. There are a few on-street parking spots directly in front, but right before these spots, there's an alleyway that has a few parking spots albeit 15 minutes only. Some of the spots are reserved for McMenamins, but I do remember the first one not having any mention of McMenamins. I wouldn't mind coming back if I wanted a taste of both Mediterranean and Indian in the same meal, especially since the interior looked so fancy and well-maintained! However, if I wanted just one or the other, I'd look elsewhere next time I'm visiting the area. Overall, 7 stars out of 10, but rounded down. * My visit was back in November of 2025; I had gone on a hiatus from posting reviews, hence the rather last post.

The fried rice however (without the jjajang sauce) was pretty bland and a bit dry. I don't know if it's intentional because they give the sauce on the side but I'd like to have the rice taste good without the assistance of the sauce. Other than the bland and dry rice, my only other nitpick would be that the jjajangmyeon came out a lot later than the other dishes. Otherwise we paid around $117 (without tip), for five dishes and two appetizers, which I think is pretty good for this area.

We've tried many sushi places over the years, very few hold up to the quality and consistency that Hana does. In addition the service is spot on. We like the rainbow roll with a large combo, and more times then not we add macrail and yellow tail as well. read more
