Looking over the menu, there's a great variety of food (both sushi and non-sushi options)! We started off with the black cod as an appetizer which was buttery and flaky. Then we ordered a large variety of nigiri, and the server told us they were excited to be using the large serving board lol. We enjoyed every piece of sushi we ordered, and again, appreciated the variety of fish they offered. We came without a reservation before 5:00 PM and were seated right away. By 5:30, the restaurant was nearly full, so maybe we just got lucky! Next time, I'd definitely make a reservation. Delicious sushi spot with modern twists. My friend and I got the Jason, Ryan and Kay roll all served on one platter. my friend got a Yuzu mimosa. We shared the sushi nachos which we a little soggy and something we would pass on next time. The sushi rolls were fresh and tasted great. The Kay roll was the most intriguing since it was all vegetarian with sweet potato being the star of the show. Very delicious and fun for the veggie ppl out there. Came here to try one of their newest rolls. The Kai roll is a sushi roll that is unique, something I never had before. It is a fried sushi roll with 4 different types of fish topped with mango salsa. We felt very welcome and had great interaction with the staff who all seemed really happy to be there. It definitely shows. We shared a combination of our favorite rolls such as the Spider Roll, Crunchy California Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Salmon sushi and a large decanter of the recommended Kamoshibito Kuheiji Sake. However, the main reason we came here was to experience the Yelp Community Event and the complimentary Kai roll. This roll is a tempura roll with 4 types of fresh fish and topped with a homemade mango salsa. The roll was invented by one of the chefs named Kai. All the food we had was delicious and fun to eat. The menu has lots of items including appetizers, rolls, hot plate, lunch menu, seasonal/special menu, and drinks, etc. I had the Kai roll (named after the chef), firefly squid roll on the seasonal menu (Hotaru-Iku, freshly shipped from Japan, I learned that it emits blue light and only available 2 months/yr), and Hweh Dup Bap (a poke style salad with Gochujang with rice and miso soup). All the food was fresh and satisfying. The Hweh Dup Bap has a big portion, and I had leftovers to take home. I enjoyed sitting at the sushi bar and watch sushi being made. All of the staffs are very nice. The place is clean with good amount of seating. Amazing food! I loved trying out Kazoku sushi. Our waitress, Wendy, was amazing. She gave us suggestions for saki and explained that the specialty rolls were named after the chefs, which was super cool! We even had a chance to meet the owner, who was awesome and passionate about what she does! We ordered a few different rolls to share between the four of us, including the spicy tuna roll, the crunchy California roll, the spider roll, and the shrimp tempura roll! All the rolls were delicious and came with 5-8 pieces each. We also got the Kamoshibito Kuheiji - Junmai Daiginjo sake, medium size, to split between two people. It was delicious, with a nice fruity flavor, and was served in wine glasses for a better taste. I also loved the sake holder with the ice cubes in it, absolutely adorable! There's no 2-4pm happy hour on weekdays, only weekends. I ordered a dish called Hweh dup bap which I'd never tried before, and I loved it! It was a lot bigger than I was anticipating so I had leftovers haha. It's essentially a salad with cubed sashimi, topped with a house made gochujang sauce. The sashimi was buried under other fresh ingredients and I didn't get a picture, but there was a good amount of sashimi chopped up and when you mix it all together and top it with the sauce it was perfection! There was salmon and tuna in the mix so I was a happy camper :) Super authentic inside, looks like a restaurant you'd find in Japan! We went on a Monday night while visiting my parents in Seattle and were looking for a quiet place with good quality sushi. We're glad we found this spot. The staff were all very kind, and the fish was fresh and high quality. The daily special Sanshokudon was out of uni, but the staff kindly accommodated us by replacing it with extra tuna instead, which we really loved and appreciated. When we arrived, only a couple of tables were occupied, but by the time we were halfway through our meal, almost every table was filled. It felt like a popular neighborhood spot. Good sushi spot in Edmonds area. I went here as part of redeeming Resy credits as this restaurant is part of the Resy network. I made reservations just in case but very last minute, so they seated us at the sushi bar (which is what I would've preferred anyways). We got the following dishes - Seasonal firefly squid which is a bit pricy ($12) but very fresh and you can only get it March-May - Kazoku roll (6 pcs for $23) which came with a really delicious slightly spicy house sauce that is not overly salty so you can be liberal in dipping it. There is an assortment of sashimi inside, with shiso leaves. Good to try once but I prefer having one focused sashimi in the roll. - Crispy shiso leaves - seasonal menu. Can't taste the shiso leaf flavor here at all, but the top (tuna and ikura) is fresh. - Hamachi collar - don't order. Way overcooked and the skin is burnt - Nacho sushi - quite interesting but not really a fan - the cheese is overpowering in flavor compared to the rest of the dish. It is fairly filling so this is one of the better value dishes. - Sake flight - three 1.5oz pours which is decent pairing with the dishes Service is good as water refills are consistent and they check up on us regularly. It was strange that the appetizers came out last and we had to wait quite a bit for that, so the cadence is quite off, not really acceptable for a restaurant at this price point. read more

The sake was in a fun pouring glass that had a little cup inside containing 2 ice balls, and a small glass serving cup. The Kai roll was good as per my friend - I tried it, and I can see the appeal however I am allergic to mango which is what tops the roll. It's a fun, deep-fried roll nonetheless. The negitoro was delicious! And I love geso karaage, theirs hit the spot with some fresh lemon. Everything came out quickly - likely because I timed my visit before the rush (tables getting filled as we left). EVERYONE, I mean EVERYONE was so kind and friendly. In long I've had dozens of meals in this parking lot thanks to the OG pho spot nearby. I don't even know how long Kazoku has been here but I'll be back often after trying it last night. I got skunked by traffic earlier in the evening, trying to join friends for a jazz show in Seattle and getting unbelievably delayed. Sushi cheered me right up. You feel like you're nowhere special until you step inside--you can tell it'll be nice, but you immediately feel like you've shaken off the cares of the day. There's a little lobby hallway with pleasant, tasteful decor, and around the corner is a clean and welcoming dining room with great subdued lighting. They screen off the windows to allow light without making you look at the parking lot. There were tables and counter spots available when I showed up, and I'll always take a counter spot when I can get one. They had great straight-ahead bebop, my favorite style of jazz, playing in the background. They couldn't have known that this was just what I needed to cheer me up, but there it was. Service here is so sophisticated--they call out a welcome when you walk in, seemingly without raising their voices at all. Everything feels like a relaxed, friendly chat between friends, but they're always making sure they understand exactly what you want and you understand exactly what to expect. You almost can't teach people how to be this good at service, they just have to have it ingrained in their personalities before they even think about it as a job (or career). I checked out monkfish liver and a modern roll (the Jason) with shishito peppers. Monkfish liver really needs to be on more sushi menus around here, I haven't had any in years. It was so good!
