Something went wrong there today. I really wanted to like this place after reading all the comments. And it looks pretty cool as a little drive-in too. The cheeseburger was indeed smashed to maybe a half of an inch. I know the owner says that's the way they do it. And OK, just know that when they say smash they mean really smashed just know that going in. Something was terribly wrong with the french fries however. Somewhere super crispy and some sort of chewy. I've never had chewy french fries before I don't know what happened in the back, but something went wrong there. The milkshake, however, was outstanding. And unfortunately, the best part of my meal was the last part. I'll probably go back just to try the corndogs, since I'm a big fan. And of course I'll get another milkshake. I'm afraid to try the french fries again however, I wasn't the only one either. There were two other people complaining about the french fries, being chewy, somehow undercooked and overcooked at the same time. I really don't know how to fix that, but they really need more consistency on the fries. I'll give them another shot however. We'll see how it goes and I'll report. read more

Great smash burgers. My husband and I decided to check out this cute restaurant. Might I say it was a great choice.. we both ordered a double meat burger and fries oh ya and a corn dog. The corn dog was soooo good. Definitely need more seating but I like that the table was huge and long for a lot of people to sit. The gentleman who took our order was really nice. Love the arcade. I found the food to be extremely greasy and well overpriced even if it is Waygu hamburger meat. String onion rings had little or no flavor. The root beer I ordered without ice was watered down. The building was hot and humid inside and the table where we sit was sticky. read more

Went today for lunch. It's rather mediocre all the way around. The burger is not very good, veggies are soggy not crisp, and the patties are small. You pay extra for your fries and drink. Basically it's over $13.00 and at Freddy's ( probably the best fast food burger) the cost would be about $9.00 for burger,fries and drink. Boerne may put up with it as they're hurting in the fast food burger department, but I'm not going back anytime soon. On the positive side it was a nicely set up place for both indoor and outdoor dining. In addition it was clean. read more

I really wanted to love Hamby's, but the burgers for our whole table were burnt to a crisp. The whole patty was charred and crunchy all the way through. I'm sad to say it was the worst burger I've ever had. The shake was mostly milk as well. The onion rings and fries were pretty good. They were super busy (waited 45 mins after ordering) so I'm hoping perhaps we caught them in a bad day, but not sure if I'll be back. Brianna helped us through the menu, it being our 1st experience here, we sampled our beverage & settled on the pineapple seltzer. It was phenomenal. We decided to split a double Hamby's burger, corn dog & the onion rings. Everything was excellent. The perfect old fashioned meal! The onion rings were seasoned to perfection. The corn dog was the best I've had in a long time, breading to dog ratio is perfect & it's so crispy. The smash burger is perfectly cooked, although I opted to add a little mustard to my piece. But to each their own. Highly recommend Hamby's if you haven't tried it! Sorry it took us so long! We will definitely be back! IMO the smashed double meat protein is the same size of an any Mc D's, Whataburger or ect regular single protein when not smashed. The size of the smashed burger is slightly bigger than a slider. The amount and majority size of fries are mostly 3/4" - 1" pieces and small portion for $2. The onion string rings were pieces of onions and mostly fried breading twisted in Paper sleeve. Equally but most annoying is their persistence of asking for a tip. I dont tip Burger King, Whataburger, Wendy's or any other fast food service which I drive through or pick up at the counter. I don't see any difference in the service Hambys is offering me to warrant a tip. Granted it's not mandatory but the idea that it could affect how my order is prepared is concerning. When asked for a tip on the last phoned in order I refused and could hear the disappointment of the order taker. Because of this asking for tip, we won't be back. read more

Honestly the most underrated smash burger in the hill country. All the vegetables are fresh on your burger ( you can legit taste it and see it) and their Hamby's sauce was delicious. The fries and onion rings are thin and crispy ( as they should be lol). My wife and I do recommend getting the double patty burger and a triple for the big fellas who usually get a double at any other place. Their home beer selection is well rounded and the draft was cold! Great family environment , highly recommend. Service was poor, cashier gave me attitude for no reason. Maybe he is having a bad day who knows. I tried to purchase a logo sticker but they ran out. They really go above and beyond to make sure your burger is smashed. I got a triple and it was like 1 inch tall lol. Smashed is not the word, more like compressed. Burger was very greasy, when I opened the wrapper the whole wrapper glistened. Over all the charred edges of the burger were good. I'm not sure why this place has a lower rating. Burgers were great, a little on the more expensive side but not bad. A double is probably equal to a quarter pounder, and was perfectly filling.
