Schnitzel Box food truck for the event was super good... Jager plate with potatoes, bratwurst with Sauerkraut. Yum! Looks are deceiving at this location. Brewery in a strip mall. But take a walk out back, And Wow! Huge outdoor area in the backyard plus a good size stage for bands. Phone was dying so didn't get a lot of pics to share. But I'll be back for sure! read more

I kicked things off last Thursday night, At Bandera Brewery... something wasn't right. I gave their beers a hopeful toast... But it tasted like soap, with a hint of... ghost? First up: Ice Haus Ultra Lite, Which somehow managed to clean my palate... out of spite. It tasted like soap - no exaggeration - Like someone dry-hopped it with hotel sanitation. Then came the Mexican Lager, full of fizz, But the flavor? Honest to God - horse piss. Sharp on the nose, rough on the tongue, A cruel joke in a pint-sized stein slung. Last, the Strawberry Blond - a sweet little pour, That smacked of Runtz candy and lab-made decor. Artificial as a neon tan, More chemistry than strawberry jam. Now look, the staff was nice, the space was fine, The outdoor area? A decent time. But you go to a brewery for beer worth the sip, Not a ghostly, soapy, fruit-flavored trip. I wanted to love it - truly, I tried. But each glass left me a little more fried. Two stars for the effort, the charm, and the crew... But next round? We'll be drinking somewhere new. read more

You MUST add Bandera Brewery to your list of hill country breweries for some really interesting brew. For example, a jalapeno lager and a watermelon lager. They also have a couple of IPAs, a couple of stouts, a variety of ales, and more! Seating inside is abundant and they even have an upstairs area where you can lord over your kingdom as brew master. They even have a pool table and video games upstairs. Also live music on the weekends. Are you hungry? No problem - just slide next door to The Marfe for some tasty grub and bring it back to the brewery with you. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about their beer selection. Don't pass this gem by when driving through Bandera. read more

My buddy, who is more like a brother to me than friend, came down to visit for a week while my wife was in Florida for her annual vacation with her college girlfriends. He is nearly blind and doesn't get out much back in Kansas. I try to take him to different breweries, distilleries, restaurants, and other venues. It is more fun for me when we find a new place neither of us has ever been. Bandera Brewery was one of the 22 stops we made during the week. I have been passing it everytime I pull my camper to Kerrville. I just never felt like there was enough room for me to park without taking up a whole strip of spaces. That seemed kind of a sorry thing to do. I told the server that I was going to try two flights. He offered to get them both for me at the same time, which is unusual. I liked the idea because the second flight was the darks, which I like a little warmer. But, in my surprised state, I forgot to tell him to fill them halfway. I can probably drink two flights and still drive, but this was not our only venue. I liked every one of the eight beers I tried. Jim, my visiting friend, made a big deal of telling the server that I liked them. He said my not finishing was offensive. I said he got his money, and whether or not I chose to drink it all was up to me. Oh well. I really liked the look and feel of the place. They had large TVs playing videos, and the sound came from them. They have a stage, so live music must happen sometime. The main room is really large with a loft area above it. When I was checking out the restroom so I could count steps for Jim, I noticed that the back area outside looked fantastic. They have cornhole and lots of seating out there. I was getting really hungry at one point and almost went out to the truck to get one of the cans of Picosos peanuts that I had bought on the way out of town. Before I could, a guy walked by us carrying an amazing smelling hamburger to one of the tables. There is a place next door that will deliver to the brewery. I think, and don't hold me to this, I heard our server tell us we could carry our beer to the burger joint. No. That's probably not true. Anyway, we went for burgers. That will be the next review I write. If you like good craft beer, really comfortable venues, and stellar servers, give this place a try. It may sound far to drive, but it really isn't. read more

Clean spot with plenty of room - went in to meet the folks running the brewery and was amazed at how friendly EVERYONE was! Went next door to Jimmy's Burgers for a bite... equally great experience. Stopped here on a whim after spending the afternoon at an event in Pipe Creek. This was such a gem find! My only complaint is that they didn't have any food when we were there. Had we planned our visit ahead of time we could have made sure to be there when a food truck was there later in the evening. All of the beers were phenomenal. My fav was the spicy one! My husband and I stopped here originally for the bandera winery. We learned quickly that the winery went under but we could enjoy some beverages at the brewery. No problem. I saw they had a frozen sangria and I was sold. My husband and I both enjoyed a sangria while hanging out. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Staff was nice and super chill. My daughter in law hosted my daughter's bridal shower at the brewery. The staff was so accommodating and kind. They provided us absolutely the best service and satisfied any needs we had! The brewery was clean and has a very welcoming vibe. We had a line dance instructor come for an hour to teach a couple of line dances and the staff was so engaging! Service, beer, and atmosphere are great. Only thing that would make it better is a kitchen. But still love the place!

BB offers three spots, one is out front to the left of the BB building when looking at it which is an easy spot for any rig, but you could get a smell of septic. The other two spots, one of which is to the right of the BB building along back by the fence line and the other is to the right of the other building on BBs right side. These last two would be easy enough to get into for smaller rigs (beware of cars parking aimlessly around), but since we are a 40' rig we opted for the last spot mentioned (further away and more areato move our rig). After some maneuvering we backed our Aliance 5th wheel into this spot. After getting settled we had a couple beers,a Sangria and a glass of wine at BB which were all very good and recommended. We walked next door and ordered food and took that and our drinks out back to sit in the BB patio area. A great spot to relax, enjoy a drink & food, as well as see the stars in the sky. It was a Saturday night and BB had a band wich were very good. All in all we had a very nice visit and let's not forget the owners and staff who were so very nice and helpful. Bandera Brewery and MarFe Restaurant is one of our top 10 favorites for urban-suburban overnight parking, beer and food. Delicious brew, top-notch food (simple but smokin' good! Fall-off-bone ribs and awesome Pacific-Asian fusion) and easy, private parking a convenient distance from the highway and other local businesses. We are delighted to he here. Love this place when we come to town. Last night we got in later, right before closing, and they were soo great to let us in & browse. We got some beer to go & a calendar to support the local charity. The Kolshe is my go-to and it's always been consistently great. They don't serve food but I was informed we can order food from "Jimmy Burgers" restaurant and eat it in the brewery. We've been here several times and it is super fun and relaxing place to hang out and drink a beer. You can bring your dog or your kids or both. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The beers are great, I loved a Peach flavored one that they had recently. Too bad it was gone when I went back later. But I found a new favorite. They offer snacks and food from the restaurant next door and sometimes have samples like the last time we went a guy with a local business was sampling his beef jerky, and dry sausages and suggesting which beers to drink with each type. They had also put out tiny bite sized samples of the restaurant's desserts. They were all very good. It's a very comfortable environment, even though they have big doors open it still feels cool inside in the Summer. I haven't been in the winter yet. read more

This place is awesome! They have really good beer... My favorite is the scuba Steve. The biggest drawback about it is that it doesn't serve its own food. You can bring food in, but you have to plan ahead for that. It's just such a great atmosphere, especially out in the back that I want to have a good burger there. read more

It's unfortunate that the beer is pretty low quality here. They have made a great little hang out spot. The interior is fun and they have board games and outdoor games for people to use. They have a pool table, tics and music. They have a really great backyard. There's just no reason to get a second round or come back since they don't serve food and the beers are nothing to smack about. The food from Marfe next door (which you can order and bring into the brewery) is also not impressive. Separate review for that. The bartender was nice enough but maybe she stayed out late the night before so it was too early for her. I get it. We've been there. Low stars for poor tasting beer, which is mainly why your there anyway. They need a new brewmaster. read more

Bandera is a happening town! I like this little strip where bandera ale project is located because it has the brewery as well as hill country wines. I love breweries that have a good local feel and flavor to them- otherwise you might as well be drinking beer at home ;). Upon walking in the guy working the bar didn't acknowledge us and was overall pretty unhelpful. After he got us our beer flights he went and started working on building something in the same room. So it seems like it's still a bit of a work in progress. However, we had two other ladies at other points come over and converse with us and they were extremely friendly and helpful with suggestions of the area and their beer, so they saved it as far as customer service goes. I love their logo- I feel like it's really authentic to the bandera area. They have a good variety of different beers and are working on some new/seasonal ones. A recommendation for them- I think it would be really neat/good marketing/good for pictures if they add their logo somewhere on their flight boards. read more

Much needed and outstanding place in Bandera. We visit the area regularly due to family being there and it's ripe with "typical" Texas fare - bbq, Mexican, etc. Time to mix it up. This beautifully designed - indoors and out - location looks unassuming from the road but once inside you're in a big city brewpub with the added small-town bonus of a beautifully landscaped outdoor space with plenty of room to hang out plus celebrate special events. My husband is a beer conoisseur and tried several of their beers and enjoyed them all. I'm not a beer person but enjoyed the vibe tremendously. The bonus food truck situation is perfect, and the owners were happy to have us bring in food from wherever we desired. Great concept, great vibe, we'll for sure be back when we're in the area again. read more
