    Nice beer and weather!

Very cool hang out, and really good in house brewed beer! Right next door is Jimmys burgers, so you get good grub and it's all within 50ft.... Great job on the atmosphere and outside area is great to hang out in, and they are developing the outside to make it even better!

Craft beer is great at the Bandera Brewery and is even better when combined with Challenge Entertainment' Tuesday Trivia hosted by the incomparable Trivia DJ Vinnie!

Stopped here on a whim after spending the afternoon at an event in Pipe Creek. This was such a gem find! My only complaint is that they didn't have any food when we were there. Had we planned our visit ahead of time we could have made sure to be there when a food truck was there later in the evening. All of the beers were phenomenal. My fav was the spicy one! Wow, so different and so good!!

You MUST add Bandera Brewery to your list of hill country breweries for some really interesting brew. For example, a jalapeno lager and a watermelon lager. They also have a couple of IPAs, a couple of stouts, a variety of ales, and more! Seating inside is abundant and they even have an upstairs area where you can lord over your kingdom as brew master. They even have a pool table and video games upstairs. Also live music on the weekends. Are you hungry? No problem - just slide next door to The Marfe for some tasty grub and bring it back to the brewery with you. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about their beer selection. Don't pass this gem by when driving through Bandera.

    Shower party

My daughter in law hosted my daughter's bridal shower at the brewery. The staff was so accommodating and kind. They provided us absolutely the best service and satisfied any needs we had! The brewery was clean and has a very welcoming vibe. We had a line dance instructor come for an hour to teach a couple of line dances and the staff was so engaging! Definitely a place we would visit again! Wonderful place for an event!

My husband and I stopped here originally for the bandera winery. We learned quickly that the winery went under but we could enjoy some beverages at the brewery. No problem. I saw they had a frozen sangria and I was sold. My husband and I both enjoyed a sangria while hanging out. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Staff was nice and super chill. Definitely will be back when in the area

Service, beer, and atmosphere are great. Only thing that would make it better is a kitchen. But still love the place!

This review is for other bands that might be thinking about playing at this venue…read more Directions: Finding the place from San Antonio is not difficult. Directions on the web appear to be accurate. Enter Bandera on Route 16 from San Antonio. Turn right on Main Street. Go about seven blocks and turn right on Route 173. The Monkey Cage Saloon is located on your left at the bend in the road. Note that the saloon does not have a sign of its own. It's a part of the Three Monkeys Motorcycle & ATV Repair business. When you've found this, you're at the Monkey Cage Saloon. Load-In: Load-in is quite easy. You'll be playing in the covered area in the center of the building. Assuming no parked cars are blocking your access, you should be able to pull up very close to the area where you'll be playing. Note that the parking lot is not paved, so you will probably have to drag your gear across some dirt and gravel. If you're picky about your equipment, you may want to bring a rag or two to dust things off after unloading. You will have to move your vehicle after unloading, but there is plenty of room in the parking area to put a truck and trailer. Stage: There is no stage. You will be playing on the concrete slab. This is not a problem. There's plenty of room to set up and there are two outlets on the wall behind you, each on a different circuit. Be aware that one of the two plug-ins in each outlet is in use, so you will need to have extension cords and/or triple taps to get everything powered up. We had no trouble with having enough power to run everything. Lighting: The venue has no stage lights except for a string of what are basically Christmas lights across one side and the back of the stage. You will want to bring your own. Sound System: The club has no sound system, so you'll need to bring your own. Because you're essentially playing inside a building missing one wall, you may notice some unusual acoustics. We had some feedback issues initially, but nothing that we couldn't wring out. Once we got things set, the overall sound was good. Layout: This is essentially an outside gig. You have a bare concrete slab underneath you, a solid roof overhead and walls on three sides. Your audience is directly in front of you in the parking lot. There is also some seating in a raised area to the left of you. This layout tends to sort of focus your sound. A plus to this layout is that the bar is NOT in front of you so there's no problem with bartenders being unable to hear orders because the band is too loud. There are several doors on the "stage" and you have to be careful with your setup so as not to block any of them. In practice, this was no problem. Volume: We were able to bring our volume up to what we considered a comfortable level for a classic rock band with no issues. Comfort: This is outdoors, so there is no temperature control. They do have water-cooled fans for the band in the summer. In unusually cold weather, the fact that the "stage" has a roof and three solid walls might help to retain heat provided there's not too much wind. Miscellaneous: We broadcasted this gig via Facebook Live and had some trouble maintaining an Internet connection during the broadcast. Once we reduced our frame count, we were able to keep our connection running without trouble. Parking: Plenty of parking, including tandem parking. Venue Management: Pleasant and easy to work with. Very helpful. They're good people and we look forward to our next gig here. Overall: We had a very good gig. The crowd was enthusiastic and responsive. We are excited about the prospect of returning for another engagement.

This review is for other bands that might be thinking about playing at this venue…read more Directions: Finding the place from San Antonio is not difficult. Directions on the web appear to be accurate. When looking it up online, make sure you use the current address, 715 Main Street. Otherwise, you may get the old address, 702 TX-16. Simply take Route 16N to Bandera. When 16N meets Main St. in Bandera, turn right and go about five blocks. The venue isn't marked so you'll have to look for it by address, which is 715 Main St. That will be on the left side of the road. It's actually in the Best Western Motel. Load-In: We love this venue and the crowd is excellent. However, load-in ranks among the more difficult clubs. There are no tandem parking spots, so if you have a truck and trailer, you'll have to park horizontally across multiple parking spaces. If you're lucky, there will be sufficient empty spaces to allow you to park directly in front of the entrance. If not, you'll have to park along one of the side streets like Oak Street. You'll want to have some sort of cart to move your gear because there's a long switch-back ramp leading from the street to the entrance. If you are fortunate enough to get to park directly in front of the club, you will have to move your vehicle before you start the gig. We parked at the end of Oak Street on the left side. Note that there is parking behind the motel, but none of it is tandem. Stage: The stage is about six inches high and is about 8 feet deep and perhaps 12 feet wide. For some unfathomable reason, about a third of the stage on stage left has been sacrificed for a ramp leading from the floor to the stage level. Why you would need a ramp for a six-inch high stage escapes me. I'd much rather have the additional stage real estate than a useless ramp. But in spite of the tiny stage we managed to get the drums, the PA racks, the bassist and the guitar player on the stage. The PA stacks and monitors we set on the floor in front of the stage. I imagine any band with more than three pieces would have some difficulty fitting on the stage. Lighting: The venue does have a few stage lights. These will probably give you enough illumination at night to see what you're doing, but I suspect you'll want to use your own lights since you have no control over the venue's lights and they're not very atmospheric. Sound System: The club does have two small speakers suspended from the ceiling above the stage. Not sure if these are plugged into some sort of PA system, but we used our own PA since the ceiling speakers are much too small for a classic rock band. They would be fine for a single or duo acoustic act. Acoustics are about average. We noticed no serious echo or feedback issues. There were no problematic resonances. Layout: This is a very small venue and the band faces directly toward the bar, which is placed against the opposite wall, so you will want to watch your volume. The room is essentially a rectangle. Volume: We were able to bring our volume up to what we considered a comfortable level for a classic rock band with no issues. Comfort: The room has good air conditioning but the venue likes to leave the two front doors open to the outside so that people lounging in front of the club can hear the music. This reduces the effectiveness of the A/C as well as raising the humidity in the club to somewhat uncomfortable levels. Don't know if they continue this practice into the winter months. Miscellaneous: We broadcasted this gig via Facebook Live and had no trouble maintaining an Internet connection during the broadcast. Parking: As long as you're not trying to park a tandem unit, parking isn't much of a problem. However, as we mentioned above, tandem parking is non-existent. Venue Management: Pleasant and easy to work with. They're good people and we look forward to our next gig here. Overall: We had a very good gig. The crowd was enthusiastic and responsive. We are excited about the prospect of returning for another engagement.
