Well, I spoke with the owner and he pointed out that I was likely confusing single meat sandwich prices with the double. It's possible that the single was 5.99 at one time and the double 7.99. Although I consider the double meat sandwich high priced today, he pointed out to me that you get 2/3 of a pound of meat on the sandwich, so maybe 14.99 though high is not too far out of line. The owner challenged me to find better value at a non chain BBQ joint. Off the top of my head, I can name three non-chain BBQ joints where you get excellent value for the money: Evie Mae's in Wolfforth up near Lubbock ( free self-serve beer with your meal there as well), Thorndale Meat Market in Thorndale, and the Old 300 in Blanco closer to home. Despite my price complaint, Klein's has the best BBQ in the vicinity. Hopefully, they'll strive to keep it so. read more

Klein Smokehaus - Brisket and sausage combo sandwich - Meat Shops Near Me - Boerne, Texas

I have lived here for 9 years and had never tried it. Oh my, what time I have wasted. This bbq is uhh-ma-zing! Its location is very unassuming. It's a meat market and really a spice market too! But you can go in and order cooked food and eat there or take it to go. Ive had the brisket, sausage and baby back ribs, creamed corn, beans and potato salad. I live everything. Not one negative thing to say. Its just perfect. Juicy when it needs to be perfectly spiced, perfect temp, cooked to perfection. Please try it. They have limited hours so plan ahead. read more

When deer season rolls around we have them process our meat and WOW do they ever do an excellent job. Our favorites are the meat snack sticks and the summer sausage style along with their ground venison mixed with pork! It's all worth it. The inside has fantastic cuts of fresh meat and the tenderloins were flavorful and melt in your mouth! read more

Ordered 2 lb smoked brisket. Maybe the best brisket ever! Shop was clean, service quick and they included really good bbq sauce. There is also a little store with well priced stuff (including some frozen) for sale. A little table area for eating in. read more

Klein's did a great job at processing an axis deer for us. We told them to do a "Butcher's special" and gave them a price limit and they did a great job. We got a great variety of their menu items. Everything I have tasted so far has been delicious! read more

Small portions and expensive!! Not very friendly, wouldn't recommend personally. Live and learn!

Love The peppered jerky!!! They have wonderful lunch specials and also refrigerated items that are good to take home and eat later!!! Love their chicken quarters or half chickens. Also good place to get Boerne gifts for out of town friends!!! They are the best so thankful for them! read more

Classic central Texas smokehaus. We tried multiple meats and a couple of sides. All except the sausage needed salt. The smoke was excellent, but we were disappointed. read more

The food is good. You can pick up or dine in. Best barbecue ribs around. If you're picking up and don't want your sandwich to get soft ask for "a kit". read more

This place is the best. Not going to say much more. They now what they are doing! (Blueberry breakfast sausage and chorizo are to die for!) read more

First of all they have the best customer service of anywhere I've ever been...and their products are the best I've ever had

They are catering our Thanksgiving lunch today. They brought brisket, sausage and smoked turkey. The sausage is so good. The other meats are good as well, but the sausage is a standout. We provided the sides and desserts to complete our lunch. Gotta go at. Happy Thanksgiving to all. read more

Deer processing was top notch - sausages, mixed group and steaks were outstanding - everything delivered frozen in professional packaging and on time. read more

I have been going to Kleins once week and sometmes twice starting in 2015 for the slice bar bq sandwich. For 6 years it was fantastic. The owners have allowed their son and friend to "purchase" the restaurant and quality has really gone downhill. The last sandwich I ordered (literally it is the last sandwich) was 2 slices that were still connected by the grissle, ligaments and fat and was dry with very little flavor. I have noticed on my last 3 visits that the briskets werent being trimmed very well, and the brisket is turned to allow for a longer slice by cutting with the grain. Kleins needs to train their staff to trim a briket, and cut against the grain, and quit relying on the sauce to make up for the lack of flavor. Same thng hapened at River Road Bar BQ.- new onwers changed things up and it is now an empty field. Boerne Bar BQ - Gone Forever !!! read more

While there are dozens of great products at Klein's, they have the best house made hotdogs in existence. No joke, $10 for a frozen pack of 8ish. Get some. I have to buy packs every time I drive to Houston, Dallas, or Corpus. Extended family insists on a good hotdog. read more

We have family from out of town visit every Christmas, so we're constantly trying new restaurants to add to our list. BBQ restaurants are always on the hit list. Yesterday, we had plans to visit some local wineries, which took us to the Boerne area. I had heard good things about Klein Smokehaus, so we gave it a try. Wow! What a delicious lunch! The brisket was tender and moist, the baby back ribs were moist and meaty, and the sausage was very tasty and not at all gritty. As for the sides, we ate the creamed corn, red skin potato salad, the pinto beans, and the green beans. All were delicious! The atmosphere is relaxed, as would be expected at a BBQ restaurant, and the service was top notch. Folks are very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Klein Smokehaus for a delicious, and very satisfying meal. We'll be back many times more in the future, but get there early before they run out of the good stuff. read more

I ordered 1/4lbs of brisket and 1/4lbs of sausage. It was not a good representation of Texas bbq. Brisket was DRY!!! If you could imagine brisket flavored cotton balls. Sausage was eh...edible but forgettable. Service was ok. Nothing worth writing home about. Seating was basic. No music. Just everyone in one room listening to each other choke down their meals. I have no desire to come back here. I'm bummed I waisted a meal on this place. read more

This place was recommended to me by the concierge at my hotel. I ordered the two meat plate and it was a screaming deal. I ordered brisket and baby back ribs and I thought the brisket was full of flavor and plenty of smoke, but I thought the ribs were too dry, hence only four stars. I thought it would've been nice to have a few different types of barbecue sauce, but oh well. Overall, a great value for a local business. read more

Hubby went to have Deer processing and I came out with BBQ sandwiches and sides! That's my way of "Gettin' er done!" And I got dog treats to boot! I love it here! They have tasty BBQ and if you call ahead they will have a chopped or sliced Beef sandwich ready when you get there! Gotta love that service. So as far as deer processing, they make a delightful Summer Sausage with cheese and Jalapeños in it.. We can get those out of our freezer for company and people love it! The processing is great and it's in the middle of Boerne right off Main Street. Convenient! It's been around forever and locals know this gem is there..So "Sssshh!" Lol! And ladies, and gents you can buy authentic treats for your K-9's too! I'm speaking about Deer horns, Deer legs and pigs ears. It is way better than a dry, processed bone! Only in Texas and a small business that's worth supporting! read more

Lived in Boerne most my life and somehow didn't hear of this place until recently. My gosh I've missed out. They got amazing brisket and venison jerky. Cream corn better than Rudy's. All around good place, they have jars of salsa they sell here I'd like to try later. Kinda small jars for $8 I'll probably try next time. All around amazing place I'm glad I've finally tried it and I'm no longer gonna go to Rudy's anymore, this place is 10 times better. read more

I guess this place has been here awhile lol Might be a good place to get your deer processed I wouldn't know But The brisket wasn't good No bark No flavor Any rub? Was it even smoked?! Not even close to Texas quality in my opinion White fat. Probably won't return because I don't care for the other stuff either No place to sit and eat!! Carry out Bye read more

Friendly staff with lots of options. The ambiance was a smokehouse. The dining area was cute but could use a deep clean along with the bathroom. The food could have been warmer but was all at a fair price. read more

I haven't shopped here for meat yet, but I stop in frequently for a barbecue sandwich. The combo, which is brisket and smoked sausage on a roll, is the best I have had in the county. I recommend it. The only drawback is that it has increased sharply in price since I first ordered one. read more

The brisket and turkey had no flavor. Not seasoned very well. The baby back ribs were dry and tough to eat. Tossed 1/2 in trash. The sides were mediocre. First time being here and they need help. Sorry. read more

A friend brings us a freezer-full of processed deer meats, sausage, and chopped steaks from Klein's each year and while I think it's quite good--it's also MEGA-overpriced. I do have to say that the whole smoked turkey we bought at New Year's was a steal at $59 for an 18 pound bird...so WHY is the same sliced smoked turkey breast $14.99 per pound at the barbeque counter?! $14.99 per pound? FOR BBQ TURKEY?!? Yes it's good, but an 8 oz package of beef sticks and a pound and half of turkey breast set me back $36 this week. That's nuts!! Oh, and their comments on this site say that when Klein's purchased Farmers Meat Market on '07, they "preserved the same employees and culture". Well if you consider surly, rude and condescending counter help "culture", that would have been better NOT preserved. I'll be glad to get their processed meat as a gift and to buy the whole Turkey at holidays, but the BBQ is just ridiculously priced... read more

This review is a joy to write because it follows what has proven to be a challenge for me. I have been searching nearby for the best Texas barbecue in Boerne. I have found it even though it is take out only. The quality is top notch and the sides are extremely good. Try especially the broccoli carrot and raisin salad. Chopped brisket was not dry and had the wonderful smoked flavor of Texas oaks. Turkey was great also had the same fantastic smoked note. Try it and you will not be disappointed. Best bbq around. read more

Processing is mediocre at best, staff is rude and argumentative. We have used numerous processors in the past and have never come across one so unprofessional. I think it's safe to say we won't be back. read more

We went for my wife's birthday and the food is so flavorful. We highly recommend this place!

Was great. Small menu but quality bbq and great service. Would definitely recommend the sandwich menu

Literally if only they had produce I'd have no use for HEB! We buy all of our meat here from fish, chicken, hotdogs, ground beef to breakfast sausage! They also have the best bacon regular or peppered. Don't forget to grab a bag of the bacon ends to make delicious beans or soup with. The best cheddar cheese dipped in wax! I usually go once a month and get about 20+ lbs of local meats and cheeses for around $70. Amazing quality!!! Don't forget your holiday ham!!! read more

stopped for lunch at this meat market and we were glad we did. the brisket sandwich was tender and seasoned perfectly and the turkey poor boy was out-of-this-world good. we will be back but i don't know if i will try anything else besides that turkey ! the vibe and people are casual. overall good experience. read more

The Smokehaus is headed in the right direction, but not there yet. Since the change of ownership a almost a decade ago, they've done a good job of keeping what works (the BBQ) lowering the profile of what doesn't work anymore (the fresh meat) and adding some genuine Texas Hill Country favorites (the smoked meats). Gavin still cuts meat in the back, and he probably helps with the smoke. The 'cue is solid. I'd say it's head-to-head with Boerne's Riverside Market. If you get there too late, you may miss the ribs, which is not a great situation. Love the slaw. Adding two or three tables would be a good idea, but maybe that creates licensing issues or health dept issues or something. Parking is a serious problem and likely constrains their business. I feel like the place is under-recognized and under-developed. You don't feel immersed in a BBQ joint like you do at Salt Lick, the original Rudy's, Coopers in Llano or many other places. You pretty much take your sandwich and go. Some marketing expertise in the front of the house and in media would be a good idea. But it still wouldn't solve the parking. There's a lot of missed potential here, but I'd like to end with one important point: their sliced brisket po-boy is to die for. read more

We've eaten BBQ several times during our stay at home weeks. First, I appreciate their process for keeping us safe. We usually get the turkey sandwiches. I tried the beef brisket sandwich and it was great. I prefer by brisket on the lean side and this was. Today I tried the broccoli salad. It was great and a nice accompaniment to the brisket. I bought some beef hot dogs and they were very tasty. Yes, they are a little pricey but the quality is very good and very consistent. We look forward to next time! read more

Dropped off a couple of deer to be processed and while there two young boys came in after shooting a deer to get it processed. The boys had made some mistakes on skinning animal, but nothing bad, however the owner belittled the boy in front of the staff and other customers. He even yelled at them and then after unloading the deer, he took it back and threw it in their truck and told them to go. I've done business here for 11 years, never again if this is how unprofessional they are going to act with young hunters. read more

Fantastic service and AMAZING product. Price is right on. Will for sure be using again for our processing. Thank you!

Deer processing was OK at best. Dzuiks and Schotts is the way to go for game processing.

The best BBQ always comes from the little hole in the wall places. This is one of the best in Texas. I never go to Boerne without getting some of their Pork Ribs. They are deeeeeeeeicous. read more

Very clean place; good selection of meats for sandwiches and also, if you like jerky, they have all kinds. We bought 2 sliced brisket and 1 sausage Poor Boy sandwiches, chips and 2 waters and 1 soft drink. Bill was around $34.00 which seems pretty pricey considering there is no place to eat your meal and it's all counter service. Aside from getting sauce on all the sandwiches after we asked for them all "dry" when we ordered, the BBQ is pretty good. Good smoke flavor, the sausage was not greasy, decent portions on all sandwiches made the overall visit positive. Recommend if you're on the go. read more
