It was $7 which I didn't think was worth the money. I got a waffle cone filled with coleslaw, baked beans and brisket. I had to dig it down to find the brisket which was about only 1/4 of the cone. They put too much coleslaw and baked beans but not enough brisket. When I did find the brisket, it was not impressive at all. It was average at best, not melt in your mouth brisket I was looking for. The waffle cone wasn't very interesting either. I threw it away. It was a huge let down!!! Two star for the idea though b/c several people were curious and asked me about it.

It's possible that the single was 5.99 at one time and the double 7.99. Although I consider the double meat sandwich high priced today, he pointed out to me that you get 2/3 of a pound of meat on the sandwich, so maybe 14.99 though high is not too far out of line. The owner challenged me to find better value at a non chain BBQ joint. Off the top of my head, I can name three non-chain BBQ joints where you get excellent value for the money: Evie Mae's in Wolfforth up near Lubbock ( free self-serve beer with your meal there as well), Thorndale Meat Market in Thorndale, and the Old 300 in Blanco closer to home. Despite my price complaint, Klein's has the best BBQ in the vicinity. Hopefully, they'll strive to keep it so.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to order just meat on the side and a side order so my friend suggested getting the Loaded Brisket Potato. That sounded perfect. Chuck was our cashier and server. He was fidgeting with the cash register as it had been down from an IT glitch and had to re-input the menu items. I asked if the brisket used in the Loaded Potato is different from the Prime Brisket? He said it was the same meat. I wanted to order the Potato to taste then decide if I wanted to buy a pound. My friend also ordered a Loaded Brisket Potato with Green Onions and a side of Fried Green Beans. I also got a Watermelon Iced Tea which Chuck recommended. The Iced Tea was a little sweet for me so I mixed it with regular Iced Tea but I could definitely taste the Watermelon essence. My brisket seemed salty and heavily seasoned and looked like I was given "Burnt Ends". My friend had more tender cuts. I think my potato could've used more Sour Cream and the potato could've been cooked longer where it's steamy and soft. My meal seamed dry as the only other ingredient was the cheese. My friend noted that her HEB True Texas BBQ had more flavorful meat. Guess I'll have to try another location. The Green Beans were crunchy but too greasy for me. Chuck was attentive and helpful. He served our entrees and brought other customer's entrees to their table. I liked the little toothpicks in a True Texas BBQ package by the condiments. Waited for our number/name to be called. There were two people behind the counter, both on their personal cell phones. There were tables around us that needed to be wiped down. Our number/name was called in a reasonable time. Upon receipt of the food it left a little to be desired for presentation. The meats were not very warm however they were warm. The food tasted good. When I went to get sweet tea or peach tea both were out. I went up to the counter informed the people that were both still on the personal cell phones. I went and sat down. The personnel did respond immediately to both teas being out and filled them. The ambience in the restaurant was very good. I did notice at the table next to me. There was a couple talking about several of the items I just mentioned. I just expected a little bit better from H-E-B. But this is twice now that I have been sort of disappointed with HEB's true Texas barbecue. Hope that H-E-B reads this and tries to do something about it. If the staff would pay a little bit more attention to detail of the restaurant, and the needs of the patrons, I think this would help out immensely.

We were driving out to Pipe's Creek to check on my trailer, so he looked online for restaurants in the area that were open and found Jo Mama's. After a quick look at the menu, we decided it was worth a try. They had several specialty burgers that all sounded good, so we stopped in. The dining room is tiny, but you do have the option of eating in Chubby's bar next door. We stayed in the dining room. The people working at the restaurant were all super nice and helpful. I ordered a bacon and blue cheese burger with a side of sweet potato fries and an extra cup of their homemade blue cheese dressing for dipping. My son ordered the Frito pie burger with tater tots. We also both ordered sweet tea, which was actually bottles of Gold Peak. My son did surprisingly well with his burger. It was super loaded with chili and thus super messy. After he had scarfed the burger down, he had a full serving of Frito pie on his plate. He said the chili was awesome. The tots however were just "okay". My burger was amazing. The patty and bread were the perfect match. The bacon was thick and crispy. Everything came together to make it really delicious. But, if I'm honest, the highlight of my meal was the sweet potato fries. They were nice and crispy. But, what put them over the top was a generous sprinkle of sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla powder. That combination was positively addicting. I blindly ate all of them, which is very unusual for me. I normally eat about 6 or 8 fries and give the rest away. I visit my trailer to check on it after major storms and when I haven't camped as much. Plus I go to Pipe Creek to hook it up for trips and bring it back for storage. I'm pretty sure there will be a hamburger in my belly every time I go there in the future. I want to work through the menu and try the others. Why? Just because they are there, and after eating one of them, I know the rest are going to be awesome, too.

The wife and I gave them a try this evening. We strolled to the front of the neighborhood, and were promptly greeted by the couple. After some small talk back and forth, we placed our orders. My wife got the sliced brisket with creamed corn (minus the caramel drizzle), and beans. Myself, the sweet rib plate, creamed corn with the drizzle, and beans. In good time we received our order and went back to the house. The smell of barbecue filled my car and had our mouths watering. Once home, we dove right into our plates. I swiped a small piece of brisket from the wife and tried it. Nice and tender, and was tasty. I went to work on my ribs. I do not get to have them often, as my wife is not a fan of pork, so this would be a treat. Ribs are usually a lot of work, and messy, so to work I go. Upon opening my container there was three ribs with nice hunks of meat in them. The corn looked pretty good, and the beans looked sticky. The ribs were pretty good. Tender, nice flavor, and the sweet barbecue sauce was pretty good too. The corn was pretty good. I almost ordered it without the drizzle, but my curiosity had me going, so tried it. I think the corn was good by itself and I could not really taste the caramel. It was an odd pairing, so next time I'll order it sans caramel. The beans were ok. They had a weird sticky texture I was not fond of. They were not bad, I just was not a fan. Overall, it was great. The barbecue is the star here and you will not be disappointed. I definitely recommend grabbing some barbecue from these folks if you see them in the area. They were really nice people, and their food was great. I got the poblano soup, the costra ribeye taco and the owner was super kind to give me a grilled panella cheese and guacamole on the house. Everything was absolutely delicious! The lady was so friendly giving me recommendations upon ordering. It is appreciated that they have the Costra taco for people wanting to eat carb free. I will definitely be returning!

Both the ribeye and al pastor are mouthwatering, and they have 3-4 fresh salsas to choose from. If you order at the window and go next door to the speakeasy (unmarked - go to the back door of the building to the right), they'll bring your order to you.
