I needed a very specific cut and called all around town. No one seemed to have what I was looking for! Yet finally I came across E&A Meats! The owner was super nice and extremely knowledgeable. With their help I was able to get exactly what I needed. They have very healthy animals and process them humanely as they are a Halal establishment. I later learned that due to the Halal approach, the meat is organic and antibiotic free which is really important for quality flavor. Overall this is a really quality business. If you are in San Antonio and need meat, consider E&A as they are an awesome family run local business! Without a doubt this is a five star business! I keep saying I'd like to start getting my meats at a butcher shop instead of the grocery store, and now I have no excuse! E & A meats far exceeded my expectations. They're VERY clean, prices are reasonable, and they offer a great variety. The gentleman helping us was also very knowledgeable and friendly. Since it was our first time shopping there, I started small with their pre seasoned beef fajita flank steak and the beef kofta kebabs. I waited to post this review until after I cooked the meats, and I have to say they were delicious. Highly recommend checking them out. I was on that side of town and found this butcher on the map. I stopped out of curiosity to check it out. Turned out the owner is Moroccan which made me happy to see more diversity in San Antonio. I couldn't leave without buying something. I got the lamb shoulder to cook something with it. They are very friendly however you want it cut they will do it for you. I asked for it to be cut in chunks he happily did it for me! I also noticed a lot of Arab marinates which I will go back to buy more and try other cuts of meat! San Antonio has yet again been BLESSED with another butcher shop that specializes in HALAL MEATS. I think this is particularly great for those families who live in north SATX, in the Stone Oak area. They just opened a week ago, so obviously the store is up to standard and obsessively clean. I like that although it is a butcher shop, it doesn't smell of one. I came in on a rainy day after a 40 minute drive because I can't pass up deli meats and E&A did not disappoint! I ended up buying the roasted turkey & the beef mortadella. I do wish that there was a little bit more selection, but I've been assured by the owners that this is happening and they are looking for ways to bring in more types. As can be seen in the pictures, E&A has a VARIETY OF CUTS -- customers can call ahead of time to place orders and if they plan on freezing the meat for a later time, E&A can vacuum pack it as well. Depending on the cut of meat, some of it can get pricey -- but I'm excited to try some of their red meat in the future. Butchering according to Islamic standards happens on Tuesdays and thus they are closed. They do have a rack of spices to the left of the store that would be great for someone in a pinch. read more

My kids love going to see the young man who works at the counter. We have also gotten the chicken breasts, fajitas, and ground beef. Last weekend, I tried this local meat market for the first time, thinking I would get very high quality meat. It looked intriguing. I bought lamb chops and paid a premium. I cooked these the next day. I have cooked many, many lamb chops in the last 40 years and these were the worst I have ever had. The meat was so tough as to be virtually inedible. Much had to be thrown out. I'll not make that mistake again. Back to the HEB meat market! read more

The food is as close to farm to Table as you can get. They raise their own cattle, lamb and goats. Everything is super fresh and if you've been afraid to try lamb or goat, you definitely need to buy some from this place. He has a ground lamb and beef mixture that you can make meatballs out of. I was very excited to see a butcher set up shop around the corner from my house. When I walked in, I was greeted immediately with a friendly smile and a gentleman that knew a lot about the products being sold. While this particular shop does not sell pork products the meats they do have are high quality and well priced. We picked up a couple of boneless ribeyes and some goat chops to put over charcoal. I will be back for both!! I have looked up recipes for the goat chops which, we will be trying this week. Definitely worth checking out!
