Disappointing. We brought my parents here for some char grilled oysters and they were just OK... We had clam chowder, crab bisque, gumbo and shrimp po-boy. Everything was good, but the oysters!!! They were barely warm and we had to send them back to grill longer, plus we had to ask French bread separetly as they don't serve it with it. We already ate half the oysters before they brought the bread and our waiter wasn't that great either, service was just ok... read more

Food is excellent, the staff is friendly, remember to check out the chalkboard for the daily specials.

So Ms. Bri took care of me and two of my friends and she did an excellent job. Super friendly, and super great. Definitely would recommend those shrimp tacos with the flour tortilla. Super nice place and chill music for sure. read more

I love this place the oyster nachos are a must get every time! Every single seafood item ive ordered here has been awesome and Ricky is a rock star waiter! read more

Oyster Nachos pretty much sums it up for me....yummy. The rest if the food is not great, not bad, just kind of there.

My mom and I are here for the Toyota Site Visit and her co worker told us about this place. We were greeted with very kind staff and was given free samples of all the appetizers! Oyster nachos are a MUST here and the manager gave us a sample of te chargrilled oysters and it was AMAZING. If I wasn't full from the shrimp and grits I would of ordered more! Ana was our server and she was very attentive and welcoming and the manager checked in on us and was super friendly! read more

The shrimp are excellent, the gumbo is terrific, and their waitstaff are great. My favorite restaurant in Plano.

Good selection of foods. Excellent service from Anastasia. Attentive but not overbearing. Had the fish and chips and the beer battered shrimp. Fish was cod and was excellent. Very flaky with a thin coating of batter. Substituted a salad for the waffle fries. The shrimp was also excellent. My waffle fries were hot and well seasoned. Also had the gumbo in a thick sauce which was also very good. Tried a sample of the oyster nachos which were very good. Nice casual atmosphere. I will return. read more

Half Shells Seafood Grill - Beer battered shrimp, waffle fries, coleslaw, and hushpuppies. - Seafood Near Me - Plano, Texas

I hate seafood. Always have always will. But I tried Half Shells tonight and I LOVED IT. The wait staff was very polite and friendly from the moment we walked in. Since it was our first time, they gave us an appetizer sampler with all the soups and oyster nachos. The specials change daily so it's always different when you go in. Portions are generous and it's so reasonably priced! Will definitely go again. read more

I must say that this place did not me my expectations. I ordered the seafood platter and my fries were hard and one piece of greasy fish was sitting on top of these hard fries. I was very annoyed with the fact that my crab bisque was absolutely disgusting and salty that I had to send it back. Will not be returning will not recommending to any friends read more

First time here. Excellent service! The waiter Devin was amazing, patient, great with recommendations. The GM Tony Pena was visible, welcoming and in action at the restaurant. When I looked around all of the customers were happy and enjoying themselves. The food is out of this world delicious!! We ordered the gumbo, shrimp cocktail, blackened chicken sandwich, fish and chips, and the key lime pie. All were amazing!! Highly recommend and we plan on coming here often. read more

I don't think I will be back. While service was fast and friendly, food is another issue. We got a dozen oysters for (gulp) $28 and they were micro size. I have never received any smaller. They were each about the size of a pistachio nut. I'm sorry but that is a bit ridiculous. I know that this is out of season for oysters but again...I have never seen anything this small even in mid-summer. The Yellowfin Tuna Tacos were okay. Not very flavorful and again not a lot for your $$$. I'll keep searching for a seafood restaurant to add to my list of regulars. read more

Very tasty seafood. Both grilled red trout and blackened catfish are great. Very nice service as well. Will revisit.

My Hubby and I had a Wonderful time today!...Josh was our Server...the food was Really Good (missed the sauce) on my Crab and Shrimp Steampot though..but it was still Tasty...the House Salad was Yummy! The Gumbo was Very Good Also...the atmosphere was Soooo Relaxing...thank you again Josh had a GREAT EVENING!...VERY GOOD! read more

I loved this place growing up and always try to stop by when I'm in town. The food is fresh and tastes great, they have a good beer selection and service is very attentive. A Plano gem, definitely check it out if you love seafood. read more

Love this place...great small bar with knowledgeable bartenders...always a hip, positive vibe and mixed crowd...fried catfish is totally on point and a side of cheese grits makes me really happy...had the shrimp & grits on a prior trip and they were great...slaw is mayo free and tasty...wait staff is chatty and friendly...can't say enuf... read more

I have been going here since it opened and the food is always very good. The raw oysters are always fresh and they have several varieties to choose from. I did have a problem with the all you can eat crab special they have on holidays. I got there about 6 pm and they said they were out. I was very disappointed but after contacting the store manager, they resolved the issue for me in a very professional manner and I will definitely be back. Some reviews complain about the prices but seafood is normally expensive and the quality of the food is excellent. read more

Tory was a great waitress and our 6 females loved the food. We had the crab leg and shrimp boil for two, shrimp and grits, shrimp tacos and a scallop special. Everything tasted really really good and fresh. The cost of each meal was so affordable and the quality very high. We also got a wine special for $20. It was all just awesome. It is loud and tables are close together. Wouldn't be great for a nice date but for seafood at a reasonable price go for it. read more

Great fresh fish joint in the Shops at Legacy. We came in on July 4th for a quick dinner. Our server, Ricky, was awesome. He knew the place forward and backward. It was our first time in so he told us about their Oyster Nachos. Man, I could hammer down a dozen of those if no one was watching. We went with simple stuff but it was really good. I could eat the catfish there daily. Didn't think to try to soups but he did tell us they have awesome soups. Gotta come back just for that when it cools down! read more

Wednesday is the oyster nacho special which is great. Crab bisque was good and of course the grilled shrimp

It was delicious! I had one of the Specials, Redfish and of course I never make it easy because I always change whatever the dish is and make it into something healthier. The server was friendly, fast and very accommodating. It was a delicious meal and they made it my way instead of the way they had it on the menu, which was much appreciated! read more

Visiting from out of town. Had the specials - jumbo scallops and red fish. Both were excellent! Highly recommended!

This is a great little restaurant on Legacy. I had never been before, so our server (Anastasia) was very helpful giving details about all the drinks and dishes. She brought a complimentary sampler of Oyster Nachos and all five soups. The crab bisque was one of the best I've had! I ordered a top shelf margarita, appetizer of crispy calamari (delicious) and the special of blue crab stuff flounder. My husband had the fish city sandwich. Everything was very good! Service was great. Will definitely return! read more

This was such a surprising find. Of the oyster places in the Dallas area this is at the top of my list. I came here expecting gulf oysters but was introduced to east coast and Canadian oysters which were great. Staff was super knowledgeable on oysters and recommendations and they actually use gin in there martinis. The oyster fries are their specialty but I didn't find them too exciting; the 6 varieties of oysters is the main attraction. read more

The Best seafood in town! The manager Tony is awesome and makes you feel at home, you can tell his employees love him! I'm new to Texas and this is the best seafood so far! I'll be back with my family, this is our new hangout! The bread pudding is to die for! read more

My wife and I had lunch to celebrate our anniversary. The whole experience from the friendly greeting as we entered to our very personable waiter (Devon), the welcome sampler platter for newbies , and our lunch. My wife had the tuna tacos and I had a combo of shrimp/oysters. Both meals were delicious. Will define lay be back. Kudos to all. read more

I like this place for one thing their fish and chips are probably not the best in the world but hey I like this bar is very popular with the cougars be prepared to be attacked read more

Lunch on 10/12016. Great service. It was $1 cup of gumbo special and very good. Had a dozen Gulf raw oysters and we served properly and ice cold and were great. Oyster po boy was good no complaints, being from New Orleans, not quite the same but very acceptable. My wife had the lump meat crab sandwich and she liked it. Very good overall and hit the spot for seafood. Will be back. read more

Mediocre. I've tried various menu items and am invariably disappointed. The fish is dry and mostly tasteless, and the vegetables are never done correctly. Not surprisingly to be honest, as the prices are low and everyone in the kitchen is Mexican. They're cutting corners with fish that isn't fresh and cooking that isn't great. Every dish I've had reminds me of a seafood version of a fast-food restaurant. It's not terrible, but if you're looking for really fresh and good seafood, go elsewhere. read more

Fun atmosphere good drink specials, decent food. Probably the best restaurant in the Legacy area for kids.

Husband had shrimp tacos (which they happily grilled instead of fried for him) and I had the *new* Andouille Chicken. Both were excellent! Service was awesome as well and everyone we came in contact with had a huge smile! Will definitely return and recommend. read more

Food was excellent. Our server was awesome. The bathroom could be cleaner though. The redfish was delicious. The catfish and shrimp were good also. read more

I'm giving a poor review solely based on the service we recieved, simply because we didn't really order. To start off, our server was Lindsay. We got there and there was not really a wait, which I wouldn't expect one at 5pm on a sunday. We were going in honor of my father, who recently passed, and he loved going to half shells and getting the crab legs. When we were seated, it took a few moments for the server to show up and get our drink order. We got 2 20 oz. beers and ordered fried pickles and she was gone before we could order the main course. She returned 5 mins later to take our order (still no drinks) we ordered crab and were told that they ran out of it day before. Since we already ordered beers and an appetizer we had the menus thrown back at us and told we were given a few minutes to look over the menu again (if we had the choice). At the 10 min mark, we finally get our beers dropped off and she was instantly off again. Nearing 15 mins, the fried pickles were dropped off and we decided on crawfish since they were on the specials board. I had asked how many were in a pound and the answer was not sure they come in a bucket. So I asked how many does a pound feed and the response was I don't know depends on how hungry the person is. So I asked on average, how any does an average pound feed and got the same response - "depends how hungry you are." At this point I asked for the check and we left spending $25 and no dinner. Only reason I paid was because I know the bartender had to work and the chefs prepped the appetizer which was alright, but all I could taste was lack of service, so it's not fair to rate the appetizer. With this said, we were a family that had gone every year for birthdays and decided to come again as a memorial of my father, who would enjoy crab from this place one more time. Now we will never return to the establishment after such shoddy service! read more

This place has easily become one of mine and my boyfriend's favorite restaurants, hands down! The service is excellent and the food is on point!! I recommend the blue crab stuffed flounder in the tomato basil crab cream sauce, it's delectable!! But every dish I have had here has been absolutely delicious!! Half shells is my usual go to! Jacob is amazing and ALWAYS gets our food exact and out piping hot! I go here at least once a week haha read more

Ok...so i live in landlocked Denver and get tired of hearing that seafood can't possibly be good there. But it's some of the best because they fly it in daily. And you know what? I found a sister restaurant in landlocked Plano, Texas called Half Shell. OMG! Could the Arctic Char be any more sumptuous? No! Fantastically encrusted with horseradish and Dijon. Jennifer the bartender is a true crowd pleaser. Not one once did she miss a beat when i asked for the kale salad that is featured with salmon, to please give me it without so that i could try the stunning, yes stunning, char. I love a wait person that acts as if the customer is the customer and has a handle on their own taste and appetite. Thanks Jennifer. Highly recommended in the fancy and competitive Legacy Town Centre of Plano. Go! Skip the steak and go! read more

Meh. Not bad, but certainly not great. Food was pretty good, but again, not great. I love fried oysters and I love nachos, did not care for the oyster nachos at all. Chipotle tartar sauce tasted like mustard and the Pico was very fresh, but so copious and cold made the whole nacho cold. Greatly appreciated our waiter offering to sample them before we committed to a plate full. I prefer vinegar based slaw, but there was something "off" - with the slaw, not spoiled, just off. Fish tacos were huge, and good. Beans rice chicken and and sausage good. Portion generous but not obscene. Service was again meh. Waiter polite, pleasant but not attentive. Place is not that big, but it was a challenge all night to get his attention. Could have easily sold us another round of beers, but never offered and we grew tired of waiting. He, the rest of the wait staff, and the manager seemed to be in another zone. Was it bad? No. Would I recommend? No Will we return? No read more

Great dinner experience! Service by Kate was great. We did not feel rushed. The place was full but the drinks and food still came in a reasonable amount of time. Although we are not close to fresh seafood, our plates were empty when we left. read more

We just moved to Plano 2 weeks ago from Las Vegas and tried this place tonight. It is absolutely amazing!!! The food is great and the service even better!!! The waiter and General Manager went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and at home!!! We'll definitely be back!!! read more

This is not good seafood. First, they had Copper River salmon on their menu in August which is totally out of season. When we questioned the manager he informed us it was the "little" Copper River salmon commonly known as Coho... different fish, different River.... Then we got the oysters, 1/2 doz gulf coast & 1/2 doz east coast. East coast oysters were good, salty, briney... Gulf coast oysters tasted like they had been rinsed in some kind of bleach. Just awful. Btw, it is a repurposed Fish City Grill. We didn't bother to order lunch, we went to Mexican Sugar instead. read more

Absolutely not what was expected. Don't get the four stars. Server was terrible. Asked for bread. Took 10 minutes. Then it was terrible. Had red beans and rice w/chicken breast. Beans and rice where OK. Chicken dry as a bone. Appetizer was charbroiled oysters. Small not juicy like in NOLA. Wife ordered crusted Oscar with blue crab and hollandaise. No hollandaise, Really???? Never again!!!! read more
