Chicken finger wrap
Tiffany M.

Half-Shell! I love them for their reasonable prices and tasty food. It's my number one go to during my lunch break. From theyre chicken finger subs, to they're garden salad, to their wraps. Oh wait you can't forget about those fried zucchini sticks. Honestly thanks to half shell for putting me on to such a yummy fried food that I didn't know I needed. Haha The only thing I could say I don't like about half shell is their Caesar dressing, it's a bit strange.

Inside

It's not only pizza! This is a small place with a great range of options including pizza, sandwiches, subs, fries, breakfast food, dinner food like steak and chicken. It's not that small! There are plenty of small movable two person seats inside so also good for groups. I like the high ceiling and sky window in the cooking area, making the interior space spacious and comfortable. Also, sitting area is not crowded with seats and tables. The food is slightly pricy for its simple cooking.

spicy fries & cheesesteak

this is a great place to try if you're in the cambridge area. The pizza, subs and fries are all really great!

Great wraps , pizza , chicken wings . Large portions

Have been in a few times after get a tattoo. Always excellent customer service from the guys behind the counter. Next time I will add some pictures of my food as it was so good I ate it up and then realized I forgot to add to Yelp . I had the veggie hummus wrap and my husband had the chicken wings and fries and salad which we split. If you're in Porter Square check them out .

Get the gyro - it's the bomb.
Erica P.

The best gyros in town. From the outside, the Half Shell is an unassuming, Mom & Pop pizza place. On the inside, they have authentic, delicious Greek food. I've sampled many a gyro, and this one is levels beyond the rest. For one, Half Shell uses only beef (a traditional gyro is made with lamb and beef, and I don't like lamb). The strips of meat are crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. Wrap it in a warm pita and top it off with homemade tzatziki and voila! You got yourself a fan-freakin-tastic gyro.

2 slices and a can

Construction worker in the city and I don't always want to break bank for lunch. So glad I found this spot; 1 can of coke and 2 slices of cheese pizza for $5! can't beat that. The Subs here are excellent as well.

I wish I could rate this place more than once, but I'll settle for updating my review. This place is fantastic. Cheap, tasty, and filling - so glad they're here!

A gyro dinner with salad & rice

The Half-Shell is a great, affordable place for gyros, pizza, etc.! Our first time here, we had the gyro and souvlaki dinners (which was like a gyro, but with steak tips), both of which were freshly made and delicious (with the kitchen just behind the counter, you can really smell the food as it's cooked). They also give you a pretty substantial amount of salad and rice or fries with the dinner, so you're almost sure to be full at the end. At first, the restaurant seems like a place more for quick take-out orders and not so much dining in; you order at the counter, where you'll also get your napkins and utensils to take to your table, and the restaurant itself is a bit on the smaller side. However, a few minutes into our meal, and it was clear that the restaurant had a special place in the community, with customers laughing and joking with the cooks who sometimes came out to greet them. There was a steady stream of people coming in to pick up food, and I'll definitely be joining them in ordering take-out from the Half-Shell in the future!

The pizza was ok. I enjoyed the vegetable pizza because it had artichokes and broccoli. The crust or sauce isn't the best I have had. The ingredients were delicious and fresh! I will give the establishment one more try. I won't be getting pizza at my expense though.

This place uses fresh ingredients, a lot made from scratch, generous portions and the family that runs it is about as nice as they come.

We ordered online from their actual website, and the online menu was very clearly labeled and was SO thorough in explanations and checkmark boxes for variations and letting the place know about allergies and such. That is rare to find, and people with allergies always have to worry about that kind of thing, it's a whole to-do. IYKYK. If you have celiac, it may not be a great option as they have cross contamination for their pizzas. Anyways, now the grand reveal: I got a gluten free and dairy free pizza with various toppings and it was GREAT!! It's rare to find a pizza place that can fill the place of regular pizza when you have gluten & dairy allergies, but this comes close! I'm very happy with what I ordered. It is pricey, and their extras are pricey to add on. However, I don't really care as it is rare to be able to enjoy pizza for me. They also provide little gf/df marshmallow treats as a little dessert, for free. That was a nice surprise. Companies don't do stuff like this, so it goes a long way in my book! Overall, great allergy friendly pizza place, and also for regular folks who want a regular pizza. Everyone will be happy.

The great was great, and the vegan cheese was some of the better I've had on pizza. The meatballs didn't really taste like meatballs, but they were yummy. We enjoyed both pizzas, but didn't feel blown away. The vegan potato bombs were yummy, though--delicious sauce. Overall, a good experience!

I held this year's birthday dinner here. I had a good impression of Coda Restaurant Group before,…read moreand this place did not disappoint. Prosciutto: The best dish of the meal. The prosciutto slices were perfectly salty, rich in fat, and smooth, wrapped around the refreshing sweetness of kumquats, the delicate creaminess of stracciatella cheese, the crunch and nutty aroma of pistachios, and topped with a smoky touch of sumac powder. It had a rich and distinct flavor profile while offering a gentle and comfortable taste. Spaghetti: The refreshing lemon and basil paired with the umami crab meat is a classic combination. Chili oil added a touch of spice and aroma, while pea tendrils provided a light herbal fragrance. The sauce was emulsified very smoothly, making it both rich and palatable, although the spaghetti itself didn't leave a particularly strong impression. Half Chicken Milanese: A large portion, perfect as a main course to share. The chicken cutlet was thick, fried to a fragrant perfection, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Wrapped in lettuce and eaten with mayonnaise, it brought back memories of the fast food stalls outside my school when I was a child. This was my first time trying rhubarb stems. The tangy and refreshing taste cut through the richness, and the texture was like softer celery and firmer green bell peppers - quite interesting. Duck Bacon Pizza: The most highly rated pizza online, and it was truly delicious! The rich, savory flavor of the duck bacon, the succulent richness of the shimeji mushrooms, and the mellow sweetness of the caramelized onions, combined with the creamy cheese base, made it a calorie bomb, but I still felt it was the right choice. Unfortunately, the crust was a bit hard, making it difficult to cut with a knife. Cotechino Pizza: This was my first time trying a pizza with sweet potatoes, and I couldn't help but admire their innovation. The colors were vibrant, and the sweetness of the sweet potatoes paired with the smoky aroma of Cotechino sausage bits created a full yet harmonious flavor, evoking the feeling of being in the southern Italian countryside in early autumn, basking in the bright sunshine and the satisfaction of a bountiful harvest. The restaurant offered menus printed with "Happy Birthday," and the waiters provided professional cake-cutting service. Overall, a very comfortable experience.

Service: Server was patient with us waiting for our full party to arrive and us taking time to figure out what to order. Food came out at different times, which was okay as there wasn't a ton of table space for all that we ordered. Drinks: I got the prickly pear gimlet which was delicious but also very tiny. Food: Most of what we got was delicious and interesting. We got 2 'snacks' and 5 dishes for 4 people as well a one desert we all shared and it was plenty of food. We started with the robiola bosina cheese w/ preserved fig honey - tasty but not a stand out and the eggplant caponata, which was standout delicious, highly recommend. This came with very good quality bread but we had to ask for more as the cheese/eggplant to bread ratio was off. Loved: Bucatini verde - absolutely delicious, HIGHLY recommend Octopus - deliciously deep grilled flavor with tasty broth, also highly recommend Liked: Charred sweet potato - very good Eh: Snap pea caesar - could have used more dressing, the radishes were good but mostly just tasted like eating straight snap peas Cotechino pizza - way too much crust to toppings ratio and the sweet potato overpowered the other flavors making it super sweet For desert we got a "cheesecake," interesting but didn't love Value: For all of the above plus 3 drinks came out to a little over ~$200, split four ways about ~$50 per person. A bit pricey but we left full and with a little pizza leftover and some of the dishes were excellent. Overall really enjoyed eating here and would return.

Stopped in based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews on Yelp. Showed up around 7pm on a Sunday…read moreand it was near capacity but we were able to be seated right away. The dining room is fairly small with some bar seating available as well. It was clean and bright. It took about 7 mins for the server to come over and she lead with "are you ready to order?" I guess simple pleasantries are useless anyway. We knew our drinks and appetizers order but not what we wanted for pizza yet so we ordered those and told her we'd order pizzas when the apps and drinks came. She came back about 3 minutes later and asked if we were ready to order yet. Feeling pressured, we ordered thinking that perhaps they close soon (not the case). The bartender delivered our drinks a few minutes later and about 5 mins after that both the appetizers and pizza arrived at the same time. Besides the fact that our table wasn't large enough to accommodate all that food and drink, it was never our intention to eat our appetizers with our meal. The good news is that the food was hot, fresh and tasty. The potato bombs were excellent. Crispy home fry like potatoes and the peppers had a nice heat. I would love to try the popper version next time. The pizzas were good too, but be prepared for floppy and slightly under done base crust but a perfectly charred edge crust. I find many wood fired pizza to come this way but I did see other reviews mention this as a negative. The bill comes in a small ball jar with a delicious rice crispy treat. While the jar worked it must have made it hard to see that I dropped my credit card in it, so after the waitress walked by a few times I removed the card and made it visible on the table. When the tab came to sign I was not given a pen. I should have walked out and just let them charge me for just the tab but I cannot stiff waitstaff, even when it's poor service. My only hope is that it was the waitress's first day and she somehow figures out the typical cadence and procedure involved in waiting tables. Food was a solid 4 but service was a 2 so I landed on a 3. I would definitely go back hoping for a better server.
