The lunch specials are a nice touch, and I like that they offer them on Saturdays. In recent years, they have been offering wine and beer which is also lovely. My favorite dishes are the chicken / gyro platter (although I do think the gyro meat can be a little crispier, sometimes it's a little soft for my tastes), the lemon potatoes, the pitas, and the shwarma. Their tzatziki is top notch, as well as the tavern chips (fried eggplant and zucchini). Personally, their falafel is not my favorite but I do know people who enjoy it. I haven't tried everything on the menu but I do know some things are better than others. Also, the service is usually pretty solid, too! Sometimes the younger workers can be a little confused when it comes to certain requests, but overall they are pretty accomodating. I wish this place was closer because I would order from here all the time!

Amazing flavor!!! -I chose the Fesenjan because it contains ingredients like pomegranate and walnuts--it sounded really interesting. The order comes with Basmati rice. The star of the dish is a chicken leg--apparently slow-cooked for hours--which was truly delicious; the flavor wasn't spicy or overly spiced, but a balance of sweet and savory--leaning more towards sweet--and it was aromatic and tender. Overall, it was delicious; the rice was simple but incredibly tasty. The dishes are priced a bit higher than usual--arguably a little expensive--but it's worth it because you can see the fresh, high-quality ingredients. The cousin and flavor are excellent, and as I mentioned before, the portions are generous. Kudos to the entire team behind this restaurant; keep up the excellent work. I will certainly be ordering again or visiting in person soon.

Ambience: some people had lunch inside. The place isn't big, but there was plenty of space. It looks like you may get more food when dinning in. What I liked: the rice. It was well flavored and perfectly cooked. What I liked less: the gyro meat. It tasted like it was mixed with stuff, probably gluten. The salad was also on the plain side although I liked that they shredded some pickles into it. Overall, not bad but if I come back I will probably try something else of the menu.

This place offers up fantastic Mediterranean fare and is run by some of the nicest people around. When they saw my husband eyeing a platter of an interesting dessert, they offered us both small spoonfuls to sample (I don't remember what it was called, but it was coconutty and delicious). I adored the falafel platter, which was a behemoth serving of 6 falafels, freshly made hummus, tabbouleh, and pita. The falafels were freshly fried and had a lovely sprinkle of sesame seeds. Coupled with a smooth smear of homemade hummus, my eyes were fluttering shut as I ate. My husband's side of the table went similarly silent as he dug voraciously into his mixed shawarma sandwich. He especially appreciated how they toasted the wrapper, which was more like a lavash than a pita. Before we left, we got a baba ghanoush to go. Our jaws dropped when we saw the serving size. We're so used to getting tiny containers from other spots that this giant aluminum platter of eggplant spread - complete with a little pool of fresh olive oil drizzle and stack of warmed pita - had us stilled with shock. We appreciated the sides and variety of sauces that came with our meal. The small cups of mayo, tzatziki, and spicy sauce, along with olives, pepperocinis, and pickled radishes, really helped complete our meal. These small and thoughtful touches made this meal feel more like eating in someone's home kitchen rather than a restaurant. On that note - know that everything is made from scratch and to order, which means the food will take a little longer than you might expect from a fast casual spot. This sweet gem is located on a random street in Hackensack, and a bit hard to find if you're not looking for it because there isn't much to draw attention to it. There's a small parking lot right in front of the restaurant, making it easy to drop in for a quick meal or to-go order.

As we walked in, it wasn't too busy, we got a table right away. The interior looked super pretty with brick wall background, tables and booths for dining indoor. They had outdoor seating available too. The menu had lots of interesting Mediterranean dishes. We started with the grilled octopus that had delicious seasoning with mix of olive oil and red wine vinegar. The complimentary bread was fluffy, accompanied perfectly with the octopus. The branzino was a flavorful filet, well cooked. The side of spinach was well made too. I loved the lamb kokinisto (from specials menu). The meat was so tender and the sauce was incredible. I just kept taking bites and eventually finished the whole bowl. At the end I took the rice pudding to go and loved the taste of it. Our server Stephen was super nice, paid full attention to all his tables. He told us about the specials of the day from which I actually found out about lamb kokinisto. The appetizers came out quickly but the entree took some time since we had ordered branzino and lamb. They add 3% surcharge for credit card, so take cash if you want to avoid the extra fee.
