    5. Meyhane Chicken Shish Kebab (foreground) 1.Lamb Adana Kebab (background)

Probably my favorite restaurant. I drive from Manhattan to eat here, that's how good the food is. Their hummus is toe curling, roof of your mouth burning good. The bread could be better (served fresher and a bit fluffier). The octopus salad is mouth wateringly delicious. The chicken shish kebab is perfect every single time and is probably the juiciest chicken I've ever had at any restaurant. The sides it's served with deliver an orgasmic bite. Adana kebab is also consistently good. The first time I had the veal chops they were incredibly delicious. The texture and flavor of the meat were perfect and went so well with the bread and sides. However, the next time I ordered the same dish, the meat was dry and not as flavorful. Being that it's one of the most expensive dishes on the menu, I think it's important for them to maintain consistency. I usually go during the day or early evening and every time I've gone, the ambiance has been laid back and relaxing. Service is always friendly and welcoming despite the language barrier. Only thing I'd change is maybe spend less time staring at the customers while they're eating or walking to the bathroom. It can be a bit weird and uncomfortable.

What an adorable, local, Turkish/Med spot with homemade food, a nice, relaxing ambiance and very friendly wait staff! We were lucky enough to sit outside on a beautiful summer evening, which certainly made me feel like I was back in Eastern Europe! Our waiter came over and left us with some menus and waters. He was super sweet! We started off with some dips: lebne & babaganoush, which came with toasted bread. The lebne was excellent, (my first time having it). I loved the pieces of walnut in the dip. It tasted very fresh! For dinner I had the shrimp casserole & my dining companions ordered the lamb kebab plate. Their dishes were so well plated! A few pieces of lamb, some pita bread, rice and some veggies, how cute! I ordered the shrimp casserole which came in an iron clad dish straight out of the oven. The only thing the dish was missing was some rice, which he was happy to bring over. There was too much sauce not to have any rice! The sauce had a bit of a kick to it (think garlic and pepper), but it was tasty! We all ordered Turkish tea for dessert, so I suggested we try a homemade dessert to go with it. I don't even recall what he had (some pistachio dessert I never heard of), but it was excellent. (They didn't have baklava, which I love, but this may be a new favorite for me!) The dessert didn't taste too sweet, and paired really well with the Turkish ice cream. Everyone loved it. We were all very pleased with our meal and it wasn't very expensive either!

I loved every bite of my charred Lebne. It's amazing to see how other cultures interact. Everyone is so nice and welcoming. My new spot. On social media i always see Turkish food videos and say wow this is impressive. Also tell say to myself, I can't wait to try Turkish food. I'm glad I came across Meyhane, definitely not disappointed.

    Turkish hospitality at its finest.

Amazing meal. Had a few surprise dishes to sample and the owner was beyond hospitable. I would personally recommend the beef liver appetizer, and the lamb wrap. My boyfriend had the grilled chicken and had a ton of great sides.

The atmosphere, appetizers, and service were incredible. The Adana kebap was the best I've ever had in the U.S!

How can you not love this place? Even during covid they still find a way to make a great outside atmosphere. Classy, funky, delicious, hip and cool place! Go check it out. This beautiful restaurant is ginormous once you go inside. So unique and such a great experience all around. Pricey however well worth it! If this review helped you please like it! Thank you

Mix of appetizers, pastrami was tender and zesty, Meyhane Eggplant with Yogurt was great, and the octopus was tender.

I've been wanting to try Meyhane for while now and last night me and a couple of friends gave it a go. We were able to reserve an outdoor table in a covered seating area. It was a chilly evening but once we started eating we warmed up. There are a lot of Turkish/Mediterranean restaurants in this area. I believe Meyhane stands out due to their more adventurous menu. It certainly has the basics but it also has dishes that seem more authentic, as if you're getting an inside look at Turkish cultural dining. Cases in point were the hot hummus with mozzarella, beef cheeks, and fried liver. We've all had hummus but we hadn't had hummus baked in a casserole with mozzarella, it's texturally different and the flavor is concentrated, a tasty dish. For us though, the show stoppers were the beef cheeks and fried liver. My friend liked them so much, he ordered another round. That was a boss move, something I'd always thought would be cool but had never pulled off before. The beef cheeks are the most tender shredded beef, far less strange than it sounds. The hit of zesty spice on the beef cheeks sealed the deal, a truly exceptional dish. The fried liver was a great counterpoint for the beef cheeks, more crisp with a bit of chew they have an addictive flavor that you keep going back for more. Each dish is served with pieces of a wrap and a flavorful onion and tomato mix. In the more traditional part of the menu, we also had a fantastic lebne, the Meyhane eggplant dip, stuffed grape leaves, an octopus appetizer, and the pastrami as part of an appetizer round. Each were as good or better than any I've had. For an entree round, we went with the double Adana kebab and the lamb chops. Each were perfectly prepared, tender and flavorful. For dessert, we had the semolina pudding and kunefe. Both were quite good, our preference was for the kunefe and we ordered a second portion of it. Nice contrast between the cheesy sweetness and the crispy topping. All that plus a glass of a nice Turkish tea. We had a great meal and will be returning.

What a find. A hidden gem off the main drags. It is a great place. We started with the hummus - served in an iron skillet and served warm with tomato sauce. It is wonderful. And try it with the Turkish bread they put on the table. We also had the spinach appetizer of spinach and yougurt served cool. Nice contract to hummus. Then we had the Adana kebab. Ground lamb served with a pickled onion salad, grilled tomato and bulgur rice. It was all good. It is on our list to come back. Next time might go with one more appetizer and one less entree. Do more small plates in combination. That would make sense. It is a BYOB. I really like this.

Stopped in for the first time tonight and was transported to Turkey! Wow what a delicious dish! This lamb was so soft tender and flavorful! The side peppers added just the right amount of spice to this incredible dish!

Nestled on the corner of Broadway and W 91st on the Upper West Side the restaurant's color scheme is vibrant, energetic and inviting The use of turquoise reminded me of the cool waters of the Mediterranean. Which fits Dagon perfectly as it serves exquisite dishes from across the region. Mejda, our waitress was one of the best servers I have ever had. She was so attentive to every person and suggested foods to compliment everyone's palate. For those that wanted light items she recommended the Mezze. Mezze is a style of dining where one eats small plates similar to tapas. At Dagon, we chose the Matbucha, a roasted tomato, sweet pepper dip, and the Baba Ganouj, a fire-roasted eggplant with preserved lemon. For a small plate we had the Shishbarak, Lebanese mushroom filled dumplings with warm yogurt, pine nuts and spicy herb since it was highly recommended. For my entree I chose the Chicken Sofrito, a slow-braised chicken with olives and preserved lemon. The meat was tender, flavorful and eating it felt so divine and guilt free! Mejda regularly checked in on us. Her mindfulness and thoughtful nature made us feel extra special and elevated our dining experience. We learned she is from the region and dishes from her country are on the menu at Dagon. Overall the food, service, and ambiance was AMAZING!!! Everyone truly enjoyed themselves.
