I stopped off here today, got some different chocolates. Dragonbreath - ruby chocolate with habanero. Sweet and spicy, tasty. Goat cheese- sweet and salty, ok. Kalamansi Cardamom- very strong lime flavor, very good. Key like pie - almost caramel like texture and flavor, not a fan. Overall: May be back to, but not sure, pretty pricy.
This shop made me feel like I was in Reykjavik or Copenhagen, and the founder is Swedish. The aesthetic is so cool and the chocolates are fantastic. They also offer cocktails and spiked hot chocolates. I tried the one with rum and it was so good! Perfectly blended and not too sweet. The shop offers an impressive variety of truffles with traditional and creative flavor combinations. They also sell chocolate bars in a variety of flavors, hot chocolate mixes and even chocolate and peanut butter bars that look similar to protein bars. An essential stop on any visit to Beacon!
I've never been a huge chocolate fan, but after visiting Hakan Chocolatier, I think I've finally tasted good chocolate. The employee who worked there gave me a sample of their dark chocolate truffle which was melt in your mouth delicious. I've never tasted a truffle that good!! She also told me it was dairy free which was amazing for me. Each and every one of their chocolates looked to be carefully crafted and delicate, it was hard not to admire them. They all had a beautiful luster to them, and it just looked delicious. The shop is pretty big, and there were tables and seats as well as a glass window allowing people to view their kitchen. The interior reminded me a bit of a rock themed shop and it was really welcoming. Hakan is located further down from the metro-north, so it's about a 7-10ish minute walk, but it's a beautiful town so the stroll down to the shop is very relaxing. I got their dark chocolate, one was a bit higher in cocoa and the other a bit lower- the 50-70% cocoa tasted much better so I recommend getting that instead!
The shiny chocolates are literally a work of art! Genuine respect for the chocolatiers at this establishment! The coffee is spectacular as well! Special shoutout to: Shadoe Tegan Cleveland Kate
Stopped here on my way to my great aunt's 90th birthday event. The place is so nice cool vibe, I could totally see poetry readings, or jazz being played there (it wasn't but a girl can dream). The older gentleman that assisted me was very pleasant. I picked out multiple chocolates that build their smallest box which holds nine. I also picked up protein bars for my best friend and some dark chocolate and a no sugar protein bar for my great aunt. Matcha was amazing, I also had one that was sour on the outside and sweet on the inside as soon as you get into it it exploded in your mouth. It was soooooooo good. I see why my best friend raves about this place. The next time I'm in New York, I'm making another visit here and purchasing enough to hold me for at least six months. I've purchased 13 protein bars, nine bonbons, and a bar of dark chocolate with cardamom and my total came out to around $126. Money well spent.
Super vibed out layout. I love the lone leather couch, and neon sign. The chocolates are prepared in house, and their kitchen is open to view as you order and/ or wait for your beverage order. I ordered an extra hot almond hot chocolate because the weather was perfect for it. The counter person was patient as a choose my single chocolate truffle. Nye' shot some photographs as I enjoyed my Hot Chocolate at a quaint little window seat. Definitely worth a try if you are in this Beacon neighborhood.
Hakan is a genius - you must try a bonbon! I went here everyday I visited Beacon - that is how good the chocolate is here. The staff are super nice and friendly. I highly recommend the Quake, but you can't go wrong with any of the choices. I love the giant window where you can see the chocolate being made. The shop is chic and feels luxurious.
The selection is very creative and delicious. I recommend this experience. It's not the usually bon bon. It's something you really need to go there and try it. Wonderful and delicious
I came here on the Eat Beacon crawl but I wish I had checked this place out ages ago! As an all around chocolate fan, the chocolate "bombs" here are really good. If you need a gift for someone or just want to treat yourself, it's worth checking out!
TLDR: one of my favorite sweet experiences of 2022. Can't wait to come back up for another Sakura truffle or cardamom bun! Went to beacon with a group of friends just to get out of the city for a weekend and happened to stumble across this place on the first day. I ended up coming here three days in a row because I loved it so much. I tried every truffle over the three days and while I loved every single one, my favorites were the Sakura, kalamansi cardamom, quake, and goat cheese. I think the star of hakan for me was actually the cardamom bun. I typically get cardamom buns frequently in the city and Hakan's was the best cardamom bun I've had. Overall, loved this place, service was friendly and I hope to return again.
My favorites from the variety I got was Dragon's breath: not too sweet, I can taste the dark choc with habanero finish. Raspberry bomb: this is the first chocolate I tried and I like it the most! There's a perfect balance of sweet , bitterness from dark chocolate and fruitiness from the raspberry with a hint of rosemary. I'll buy this again. Sakura: I didn't like the harmony of whiskey and chocolate in my palate. Sorry, but I prefer my yamazaki clean! Yuzu licorice: unsure if I like licorice but I gambled for this cuz I love yuzu. Surprisingly, it was yummy, licorice was not too strong. Soursop: I love soursop and this one didn't disappoint me. Passion fruit: this is my favorite fruit on earth. However, I find this passion fruit filled chocolate too sweet and lacking tartness. Tamarind cardamom: the cardamom took over the whole choc experience, I was expecting it to have more tamarind tartness. Red currant: taste like a normal truffle to me. I also got the white chocolate bar but didn't get to taste it yet.
Absolutely great coffee; pastries baked in house. And of course the chocolates are amazing. I've also had their sandwiches and they are fresh and delicious on fresh baked bread. This place is a gem. Friendly service too. Owner is Swedish and he knows what he is doing.
I am so happy to live near Beacon as I stumbled upon this gem of a chocolate store during my birthday celebration. My husband took me to get their famous hot chocolate and sweets; I never heard of this place and immediately was blown away by the hospitality of the staff, aroma of fresh chocolates and the vintage decor. This place gets packed very quickly so I suggest going at an early time, I arrive around 2pm and it wasn't packed. I can see why it's so popular and even on social media. We ordered the classic hot chocolate drink and it melts in your mouth. The fuzzy, warm feeling immediately kept me happy during these cold, brisk walks. My husband got a mocha and he's not a coffee person but immediately enjoyed the drink. As for the sweets, we got the Macadamia Delight, Dragons Breath, Gingerbread and Sour Soursop which were all amazing. I cannot wait to go back to try different sweets and cookies! It's expensive but it's worth the price as it's all made fresh in house.

HÅKAN Chocolatier is one of my favorite places in Beacon! I'm a regular here and stop by often to treat myself or pick up beautiful chocolates as gifts for family and friends. The quality is exceptional, and every chocolate is crafted with so much care that they're always a hit. During the fall and winter, this is my go-to spot for their incredible hot chocolate. It's rich, velvety, and hands down one of the best I've ever had. My daughter absolutely loves it too, so it's become one of our favorite seasonal traditions. The pastries are also fantastic--I highly recommend the Cardamom Bun--and the cozy atmosphere makes it the perfect place to relax. My friend and I have even made it a tradition to stop by after our Pilates classes for a sweet treat and a warm drink. The staff is always welcoming and attentive, and while the products are premium, they're absolutely worth every penny. If you're in Beacon, HÅKAN Chocolatier is a must-visit for chocolate lovers. read more

Causally walking past here and wanted to try the artisan delights and was not disappointed, flavor combinations I never thought I would see existed, and man each bite was like journey through the universe of chocolate unbounded by imagination. The chocolate itself really does look so pretty when I was deciding on what I wanted, they looked like marbled pieces of glass art with designs and shine. read more

Hakan has no competition in the chocolate or coffee game that I've found. Before you die, you have to go in and at least try the Quake piece. Trust me, there's a surprise inside Absolutely obsessed with the interior of the business. The dark atmosphere complimented by the neon sign and the couch makes it feel incredibly warm and comfortable but at the same time fresh, young, and trendy. Open viewing kitchen concept through the large glass is incredibly fun to watch them work their magic on how they create these incredible works of art they call good. I've had two different employees behind the counter when I've gone to visit and both have been 10/10 in terms of friendliness and helpfulness. Love every aspect of this business. Excited to go back and try their mouth watering sandwiches. read more

We learned about Håkan Chocolatier from the 2024 Dandelion Advent Calendar & decided to order his signature 25 bonbon Chef's Collection box allowing him to choose the best combination of flavors specifically & especially for my Valentine. Although one bonbon was crushed in transit, it did not affect the deep & rich flavors Hakan manages to capture in his bonbons. So far Jane has enjoyed & savored Sakura Whiskey, Bailey's Irish Cream & the eye popping Passion Fruit Explosion. As a trained chef & chocolatier herself, Jane knows & appreciates great chocolate & Hakan has the rare ability to concentrate & capture the essence & flavor he is featuring in his bonbons. This is an experience you need to enjoy multiple times in a lifetime. Buy Hakan Bonbons! read more

What a cool place to see chocolate making and have a hot coco. Service- friendly staff is a good thing here. Someone broke a glass and they are so chill about it. The line can build up easily. Food - a hot coco on a cold day and some chocolate to top this off. This is the place for that. I would order some boxed chocolate for gifts. Ambiance - I love the leather couch and a chocolate making behind the glass. The decor is amazing and fun like a boutique hotel lobby. read more

Seeking chocolate around the world has become a hobby, so it's always a pleasure to find exceptional chocolate pretty close to home. This chocolatier creates a special experience with techniques to match the best in the world. I cannot name the exciting flavors of their truffles or their 'spheres', because I tried too many to count, but the variety and quality were just what I was looking for. There was one that was a secret flavor, adding to the joy of this treat. Highly recommended, but expect it to be pricey (but worth it!). read more

You're entering a magical chocolate fantasy! Håkan Is a classically trained chocolatier. We'll get back to the chocolate, but you must see the chocolate dragon that he is working on in his spare time. In demand as a chocolate sculptor, he turns down posh gigs to focus on his Beacon clientele. And focus he does! His truffles and bombs are spectacles to admire. And the taste, OH MY GOODNESS! read more

I wanted to find a cafe that did hot chocolate and I found it! They are a chocolatier so they offered delightfully beautiful bon bons to buy separately or to gift in a box. I picked up a delicious chocolate/toffee cookie -- so rich and tasty I saved half of it for later, which I enjoyed for a second sitting. The hot chocolate could've been more chocolatey but that's a personal preference. I absolutely loved their seating in the elevated windows as if we were on display but also because it provided the best natural lighting. Such a cute and cozy place for a break from walking around Beacon. read more
