Stopped in randomly for a chocolate craving. There were some other customers but not busy. Three workers were there and they greeted us while they were busy with other tasks. Bought a selection of truffles for a snack- the tiramisu truffle was yum. The boss/manager seems to be a bully to her staff and treated us with rudeness. I recommended she not help customers as we had a good experience until she came to "help". Would def go to other chocolate shop nearby next time based off the vibe the boss gave. read more

So great! We came on a Wednesday morning and had the shop to ourselves. We tried a variety of their fresh chocolates in the case and everything was high quality, artisanal, and delicious. My favorite was the honeycomb chocolate and my husband's favorite was the chocolate peanut butter cup. Service was very friendly and you can tell they take pride in their family owned business. Love this little shop right in the middle of Main Street! It's super local and you can tell everything it made with love. I've tried a bunch of the truffles and my favorite is the "ultimate peanut butter." It's not actually as peanut buttery as you may think but it was super smooth and creamy. My second favorite was the hazelnut truffle block. I believe it was called the Figura. Also extremely smooth yet not super hazelnutty. I typically have no issues with overpowering peanut butter/hazelnut flavors so it's odd that I also loved that it wasn't. I guess that's how you know the chocolate here is good! My sister and I was prepared to drop some serious money in this store as we love chocolate and anything artisanal, but that changed when we delt with the shop keeper. I found her to be rude and I didn't like how she was talking to us. She wanted to throw the chocolates we were buying into a little glassine bag and when I asked for a little box because it was a gift she said we weren't spending enough to get a box. Meanwhile I'm seeing small candy gift box sets all over the store for $6 and we were buying chocolates that is $28.99 lb. I decided to buy that one set and that's it. I won't be back. read more

I've been coming here literally for decades. The chocolate is always delicious. I did notice last week that the store was empty of all of the variety of chocolate items that they always used to carry along the outer walls. I was very disappointed. Has this place changed ownership? It does not look the same inside as it has in the past - so much less to choose from and it seemed so empty by comparison. I walked over to the shop as it was one of the few chocolate options in town, looked around, picked up two bars to take to the register and was asked not to hold the chocolate for fear I would melt it. This is possibly the best chocolate shop I have been to in my life. I am the type of person who can't help but go into a chocolate shop if I see one, and often times I am left disappointed. Stopped in a few days ago and noticed they make their chocolates there, already a good sign. Got home later and tried the peanut butter cups which made me wish I had these all those countless times I stuffed Reece's in my mouth. Wow, just wow. I discovered this place because, well, my husband and my family-in-law live in Beacon, and every Christmas and Easter, I am greeted by wonderful treats from this store. The one thing I started forming an addiction to is chocolate covered oreos, and theirs is the bomb (a good thing). They also have various other chocolate covered delicacies, my brother-in-law got chocolate-covered pretzel bites and they were also amazeballs. The shop hasn't upgraded their outside signage to keep up with the businesses that are burgeoning on Main Street, but hey, their stuff is THAT good that their products will speak for itself. I just left Alps sweet shop and my first impression was "NO" bathrooms, to go along with no chocolate fudge, no bark and in general no friendly service. The list of "NO'S" is on both sides of the front door and continues in the shop and is very off-putting , when you are from Maine with every little village has a friendly candy or fudge shop. My boyfriend and I visited Beacon and stumbled upon this shop. This place has been around 100 years and every single treat we purchased was more delicious than the one before! The marshmallows, the fudge, everything. But the best part of all is the staff - the women behind the counter were so gracious and generous.
