Twistee Cone is an ice cream stand with a few picnic tables to the side. They serve mostly soft serve ice cream but also has hard ice cream and milkshakes. They are open in the evening. Be warned, they are very popular. I went on a Thursday evening and there was constantly a line. I probably waited a good 15-20 minutes. The ice cream is delicious though and comes in different sizes. I had a large vanilla cone which tastes very rich, like Mister Softee ice cream. The large is huge! My fiancé had a mix of vanilla and coffee. I didn't expect much from the coffee flavor, but it was very good as well. Tastes just like coffee. The line was worth it. Definitely recommend! read more

We took a walk tonight after eating too much at dinner and ironically ended up at this ice cream spot. I ordered the classic vanilla & chocolate soft serve swirl with rainbow sprinkles size small. The menu was nice with hard and soft ice cream, and Italian ice. The ice cream was thick and creamy and for that I'd give it 4 stars but it was the smallest small I may have ever seen... which was perfect as I was full from dinner but worth mentioning. The toppings good however were a bit skimpy compared to the ice cream shop I usually go to. I'd like to go back to try something else on the menu but I wouldn't get the small soft serve again. Super delicious ice cream, and loads of different options. Be weary when ordering a medium soft serve cone.. it is actually gigantic! I am a lover of all ice cream and could potentially live off of it daily, but the last time I ordered a medium cone I had to bring half home with me. I am in no way mad about this as I had a nice dessert for the next day, but DANG I have never NOT finished ice cream, even after a huge meal. Great job twistee cone! read more

If vegan don't go here. Though they have one or two vegan options, the staff is inconsistently aware of what is vegan and will sell you cows milk based ice cream and say it is vegan. This comes from unfortunate direct experience. read more

finally tried here after passing it a lot driving. like how its in a quite little niche on the side of the road. first thing I noticed the prices were very fair and well worth the price, plus a lot of selection. I ordered a smore large sundae, the girl behind the counter took my order politely and served me very quickly. fresh crushed graham crackers, warm chocolate fudge, with soft served vanilla. it was a great sugar fix. would like to try the other flavor sundaes and their milkshakes. plus first time I ever seen a ice cream place have ice cream treats for dogs. read more

It's 2018. Time to accept debit and credit. I have driven past here a million times and decided to finally stop in and try it. The place is ALWAYS deserted and now I know why. THEY ONLY TAKE CASH, so be aware BEFORE you order!! In a town with thousands of college kids and tourists, this joint is losing revenue. The cash only sign is very, very tiny. I have NO IDEA how someone can give this place 1 star!! if I could give it 10, I would! So what, they only take cash. Many local places only take cash. There is an ATM 5 steps from where you order. It doesn't get any more convenient than that! I have yet to taste anything there I don't like. The homemade ice cream is the best around. And the Italian ice is SO GOOD!!! The seating area is always clean. It's always pretty busy but they are like a well oiled machine there so the line goes pretty quick! I'm SO happy Twistee Cone calls New Paltz home because they really are the best in the Hudson Valley!! read more

There are a lot of coffee shop options in New Paltz so you don't have to go here if you need coffee. I would stay away from this place. I was led astray by a review that said it was good.

This place is the best. They make custom ice cream cakes and they are awesome. The owner went out of her way to make my daughter the biggest coolest pinkest ice cream cake any 6 year old could want. They also are dog friendly. Brought my dog here with my kids and the owner comes out with a special doggie ice cream sandwich for my dog to enjoy. They have so many different flavors to choose from and are always turning out interesting things to try. And no there is no credit accepted. But there is an atm machine on premises. read more

So one day on my lunch break, I decided to finally swing by and see what they're all about- especially since their whole thing is chocolate. The space inside is cozy with a nice cocoa aroma that almost wraps around you like a blanket. This isn't just a chocolate cafe- it's a nice little wonderland where cocoa is the soul, but not the whole story. Alongside their truffles, you'll find hot chocolate, brownies, pastries, etc- all Vegan. I was really looking forward to the chocolate truffles, but the chewy texture threw me off. I expected that smooth, melt-in-your-mouth center like the classic ones. And I get it- these folks are completely vegan- even so, I hoped for a similar consistency in these- veganized of course. And I couldn't leave without trying the hot chocolate. Theirs needed more cocoa oomph. Still, the service was solid and the staff was great.
