Coffee hard ice cream (6/10)
Hyunmee C.

We tried both soft serve and hard; the strawberry soft serve (8/10) was great - a nice subtle but great taste. My kids liked the banana soft serve (8/10) as well. For the hard ice cream - the coffee tasted as if it had burnt espresso beans finely crushed (6/10). The chocolate chocolates chip was really not that great in taste and very heavy in chocolate with a slight sticky consistency (4/10). All in all the soft serve seems to be the better choice to go with.

Open every day if the year but Christmas and I think Easter! Good soft serve conveniently located with a lot of parking. If you'd like sauce serving, you're in Kingston if it's during the day, it's probably open.

This place was adorable and we were so happy they were open after dinner one night so we could go stop by here. Yummy ice cream.

Chocolate and Italian Coffee ice cream.

Very good ice cream, good prices, and friendly service! Surprisingly not too busy. Outdoor seating available.

Really good ice cream and interesting flavors - both hard and soft serve. Crowded with locals, but service was quick and friendly.

It's the sort of spot that friends who visit ask me to take them to. Bonus - I won a cow pie on my birthday!

The freshest ice cream you can find anywhere! 2 medium cups for less than 5 bucks! Any place downstate would be 12 or 14. Worth the trip!

We were all praying a dessert 'nightcap' could salvage this trip far from home. No pressure, Jolly Cow, no pressure. This was obviously 'the place to be' - countless people coming and going. All sorts of "hang out" areas (under a tent, in the grass on benches, you name it) - so we were feeling good that we picked a winner. We waited in line for a spell and when we went to start our order we encountered our first remora... cash only. (People still carry cash, huh?) Crisis averted (yeah, my kids had cash on them!) - back in line to try this again. Family of four all getting some serious treats and all for under $20? Sweet! (Dad puns unavoidable, sorry.) "Small" cone was the size of a Smurf (aka - 3 apples) which is crazy (good). I went with their 'Razzle' which is a step-sibling to DQ's Blizzard (I think the last time I had Reese's Pieces ET was still trying to phone home) and... pretty darn incredible. (Although it too was just TOO much of a good thing and I wish it was even smaller than their small.) You saved our weekend, Jolly Cow. And that's the "utter" truth. (I warned y'all that the dad puns weren't going to stop.)

My husband got the pulled pork burger and he said it tasted of fish! Do they even have fish on the menu?! Our daughter got chicken nuggets and fries the only thing semi edible and she got a handful of fries and two nuggets for $10!! What a damn rip off. Service was slower than crap and it was slow! We waited 10 minutes before they even started cooking anything! Also they need to do something with the seating area wouldn't cost much to level out it out with how much they charging for shit food.

So when I saw one opening in Kingston almost a decade ago I just shrugged and kept going. After learning Dianne Reeder's story you realize this isn't your ordinary candy store. Yes they have over 400 kinds of candy you can buy in bulk and the store has your typical kitschy trinkets but if you look deeper it's where you find Diane's passion and empathy for others. She just wants to make your day a little easier and for you to leave happier than you came. Certainly this isn't hard when you're scooping Janes Ice cream and serving vegan homemade soft serve using Fruition chocolate and coconut milk. Even this is fairly common place in a world over run by NYC transplants expecting everything to be homemade and gluten free. Where Dianne is different, is her commitment to community. In 2005, Diane was the winner of the Microsoft/Bill Gates Start Something Amazing Award (a program honoring the unique and inspiring ways that people use Microsoft related technology to pursue their everyday passions) for her work bringing attention to food insecurity. Her passion for cooking and her desire to help others led her to find a nonprofit organization called The Queens Galley in Kingston. The work she did with the Kingston Farmers Market was instrumental in getting them to accept food stamps. Diane's mission to have people come together and break bread in dignity has now spread across the country. Her commitment even landed her a diner at the Whitehouse with President Obama. To add to her resume she graduated the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park while raising 3 kids and running the candy bar. But let's get to the point. Diane is a pillar of the community where everybody knows her name. But what about the food? Just sitting outside snacking on my freshly roasted nuts (still warm) sipping on my 72hr steeped Lavazza cold brew I'd say simply perfect. Don't miss the carrot cake doughnut topped with maple walnuts and stuffed with macerated pineapple. The passion fruit and blackberry parfait or those rainbow cookie tricolor doughnuts. They have a sweet for everyone! Kingston Candy Bar might not be the hippest spot on the block but the love Diane puts into her work is palpable. Excellent value for a pint of ice cream for five dollars. You can't beat that value…read more The mint pint was extraordinary. Some of the best mint ice cream with chocolate that I've ever tasted. So creamy. So cold. The diversity of flavor is truly relaxing to eat. Jessica was our cashier and she gave us great thick ice cream samples. Solid bites. I've never been served bigger portions, which is so cool. We tried a handful of flavors and she was so warm and friendly to talk to you. I also got the chocolate milk, peanut butter. It's not my favorite, and I feel like the peanut butter doesn't do anything to add to the chocolate milk. So I would not recommend the peanut butter. Jessica told us that their dairy is sourced from the local dairy farm that is awarded every year. They know their stuff!

This brick shop is colorful, well placed (I highly recommend King's Pizza restaurant across the street!), lit up and the shop keepers take their time to color the placards, ads, prices, signs, holiday festivities and notes. Thanks for being there a few nights ago. When a problematic situation arose in an UberEats order…read more(where the customer bought something that the restaurant couldn't provide), the customer turned his anger towards me, and asked me if I could provide it instead. To which, I knew I couldn't go back to the restaurant, and instead noticed your store open and knew instinctively what most Stewarts Shops carried and knew that this product could be found here. Although you were washing floors near the product, when you saw me head towards the wrong register (which would have been closer for the employee to ring it up on) (it was just a 2L Pepsi bottle), you communicated your intentions and performed to your best. I thank you. For being so close and open when I needed you, you shone in my darkest light. I know I don't walk into your particular store very often, but it was necessary. I still don't like your entry and exit points onto both Delaware Avenue and Broadway (there's no lighting onto Broadway) and it seems very confusing at this intersection due to the crisscrossing of yet a third road from a location nearby. I actually don't like this corner: cars coming from the 'Strand come up Broadway too quickly there and it can get interesting navigating. However, you shone your light at the entrance with LCD brightness that really provided me assurance that I'd be safe inside for a few minutes getting the necessary item. I asked for a receipt, and received it as asked. Thanks.
