Super super delicious, very friendly atmosphere. Can't get enough ice cream. Adorable pricing and generous portions.

There are so many ice cream shops in the area. I love Fortunes, which I would say is in a different category than Holy Cow. I am glad I went to Holy Cow... for the soft serve. If you have classic taste, get the chocolate and vanilla soft serve swirl with chocolate crunchies. Let the crunchies sit in the soft serve a bit. So rich and good. It might be one of the top soft serves I've ever had, and I can't easily think about what else is up there because I don't think of soft serve that often. It's also super affordable, and cash only. Luckily I went when there was barely a line and they were nice to deal with my questions. As someone else mentioned, the menu/options aren't super clear.

Vanilla milkshake with whip cream - tasty.

How can you not give such a great rating for one of the best ice creams in the Hudson Valley or all time?! It may be a long line when visiting (even at 8:15 at night), but's it well worth it though. The menu provides a lot of choices to pick from with many flavors of ice cream to choose from, wheater it is in a cone or dish. They also provide cakes, drinks, milkshakes, and slushies as an alternative which is also very good. For milkshakes, requesting whip cream is recommended, unless they happen to ask. They have signs at the door and at the cash register that state - it is CASH and CHECKS only. They do not take credit cards with no expectations. Everything is well priced which makes sense with their policy. Just bring a lot of cash. Bring it on at Holy Cow!

It's Creamy & Fresh

It's creamy alright. And fresh if I may add. But chocolate, it's not. My chocolate ice cream tasted exactly like vanilla- spiked with brown syrup. Not a fan. On Rt 9 in Red Hook, front entrance is a bit deceiving- but you'll find it once you enter the small plaza and make that turn towards the back. My husband skipped ice cream this time and wanted a lemon Icee- but these folks don't carry any. Thought about lemon sorbet- scratch that too. Instead, he picked up one of those Berry All Fruit popsicles. Come back here? Nnnno. There's just good chocolate ice cream and then there's terrible chocolate ice cream- and this lacked. Oh... it's ca$h only.

A friend who grew up in this area recommended visiting Holy Cow while I was apple picking nearby. Beware it is CASH ONLY. Upon entering this little ice cream shop, it was quite difficult to see what flavors are offered on the menu and what types of ice cream they offered. I got the "Holy Cow" flavor -- no idea why it's named after the store when it was just regular peanut butter swirl ice cream with pb cups. It was creamy and decent, but came in flimsy styrofoam cups. The prices were really cheap (at least coming from nyc, HA) though, so I can't complain too much. There's also a lot of picnic tables outside.

Delicious homemade frozen yogurt and ice cream. You might wait on line on a hot summer day but it's totally worth it if you're in the area.

Many great flavors. Friendly Service. So sad their expansion to Port Ewen did not work out.

No frills soft serve joint. Very tasty at a decent price. I love grabbing premade quarts up front. A steal at $4.50z

Rude staff. Too worried about rules and signs than just being nice and serving ice cream.

I have enjoyed Del's for a long time, through a few different incarnations. The last few years, the…read morefood has been consistently good and the place fills the need for a food stand where you can eat outside, though the prices aren't small. However, I went back for the first time this year with family and had a truly terrible experience. Maybe they are under new management? Maybe they had a really bad day? Either way, I'm sorry to lose one of my go-to places in the area. After ordering a few burgers and sides, we waited at least 45 minutes for our order to arrive (minus one burger). This was after being told a half hour in that the order would be out in a few minutes. Other customers were sitting around waiting with perplexed looks on their faces. The burgers were failing versions of the menu items we are used to seeing at Del's. Overcooked, dry, cold. I always get the El Camino and it is always good. This one had none of the magic. The toppings were skimpy and they were really needed to overcome the low quality of the cook on the ground beef. The fries and onion rings were also cold and the order sizes seem to have suffered from shrink-flation. No positives at all. Everyone can have a bad day, but it would have been helpful to have some sort of explanation for the delay, if not the atrocious food quality. Ultimately, that's probably the thing that will keep me from going back. And for an equivalent amount of time and half the price, I can get better results in my own backyard.
