Although I still feel that XtraMart is overpriced compared to their nearby competitors in the town…read moreof Red Hook, when I came into your shop today, I was looking solely for products that your competitor doesn't have that you might've. But I was also budgeting to a point where I was only stricken with an EBT card (food stamp/SNAP card). I craved sandwiches with meat (ham and cheese are my faves), but most of these sandwiches EBT won't pay for (they don't take them for being "prepackaged") and when I found that you had sandwiches, I was almost hooked - but that's when I saw the price. I was carrying only about $6 in cash and when I spotted even the cheapest sandwich at close to $7, I had to turn away. (Their bagels (without peanut butter or similar) were there, but those were a lot less than what I'd get for cheaper at your competitor, so had to forego those completely.) However, this place also has some variations of stuff I couldn't get at your competitor. I found bags of cookies (chewy chocolate chips of the brand name) on your shelves and stuff I couldn't find elsewhere - some more prominently displayed than others. However, there were things that even the competitor had that I had to get today because I'm getting tired of getting the same stuff there continuously and had to be spontaneous. However, the rest of the transaction was okay. I was the only customer in the store for most of my transaction, and the employee who checked me out was rather nice. He allowed me to place my goods on the counter and allowed me to check out the sandwich corner. He waited until I got back to pay before he started ringing me up - and something I valued: patience. This purchase was also my first purchase where I entered my Mobil Rewards number, something I started in 2021 and hadn't used yet. I was surprised that I even remembered I had one, but he never asked if I was a member. Sorry, if my presence bothered you. This place no longer is open 24-7, based on other factors, but this place surely makes itself known at the corner of Routes 9 (US) and 199 (NY). I know several people who would rather pick up goods here and without a doubt have no trouble. It's a fact that this lot is always full, but when coming from a mile north and no car, I had to walk it today. However, I can only come in every so often.

This is a decent representative for the franchise. The gas…read morepumps work, and restroom was clean. The facility is well-maintained; with the usual selection of food and sundries one expects to find in an establishment such as this. The staff person was friendly and attentive. If one needs a fill-up, pitstop and/or snack/sundries for their travels; this location is a solid option.

Of all the gas stations in or near Red Hook, I actually had the chance to try out this station…read moretoday, and although much like all the other gas stations in Dutchess being higher priced (compared to Ulster Co.) when I discovered that this place was nearly 6 cents difference per gallon cheaper than the Shell on Rte 9G nearby and was on my route to get my brother at work near the county border, I thought "What the heck?...Can't hurt to try it!" I got out of my car after a short delay (due to unintentional malfunction of my car's door locks) and pulled up to discover at first that this station has slightly older pumps....nothing too- historical though. They took my GasBuddy discount card at the pump and within a few seconds I was off n' runnin'. I didn't even have to enter my odometer reading here (or get around that prompt by entering a particular two digit code), which made me feel surprised. The trigger didn't work too well. I'm pretty good at getting gas exactly where I want it. But here was different. I'd squeeze and due to over squeezing by the pumps machine issues, would offset the amount I would have wanted to place in my tank at a normal gas station elsewhere and cause me to miss the exact place I was expecting to pump till. I should have expected that when the pump shut itself off at 25.77 to expect this here. If I wouldn't have been on the GasBuddy card, and if it wasn't even me, that caused disaster for over spending and could have caused others disaster! I mean, I pushed it to 26.02 but was planning on only pumping 26.00 after the machine clicked at 25.99 seconds before. Maybe if they'd stop affiliating themselves with the Deli so much, get off their tush and check their pumps out for malfunctioning parts every few months, I'd be using them more. However, not one time today, did I ever notice any employee come out to check. I should've expected that prior to arriving thanks to a car pulling out of here prior to my arrival and another customer walking out saying something but couldn't discern what but sounded as if she aimed it at me!

Earlier this month I had a chance to enter this business twice to pull in for some gas. I had been…read moreinto this place when this place was a Mobil Station, but when it was a BP gas station, I hadn't given this place much thought and when that station was sold to Shell and my Shell Fuel-Rewards rewards card by Lyft would be able to obtain points I thought, "yeah, this is the right time to try it out!" From emails screaming, "Save 25 cents off per gallon on your first gas purchase" I headed in one morning prior to going online with my app-enabled transport business (I ended up switching in the meantime to Lyft's competitor but left the Lyft account open until I print out all the pertinent info of the transactions.) When I got to the pump, I didn't know too much about the Fuel Rewards system. I mean, I didn't have a gift card on me but chose to run pay at the pump purchase anyways with my card which was okay with me for the first transaction I made here. Everything was fine. It was an easy transaction. As I followed the prompts to enter my rewards card number (I chose an alternate ID because I figured it would be a pretty long time for my new card to arrive and right-o I was (it took 30 days for it to arrive.) and then payment. It took both, and although it quoted me "3 cents off every purchase" after I entered my rewards card number, I got an email sent saying "5 cents off". But then again, as I looked at the gas pump as I entered it, it took 30 cents off. I knew I had that promotion, but wasn't expecting both to take place at the same time. A few days later (last weekend) I tried some other way. I knew I only had cash on me and needed gas. I knew that since I didn't have my original Fuel Rewards card (or that the old one was improperly scratched and scratched into the magnetic strip but called Fuel Rewards for a new one.), but only had cash on me to present. I went into the store asking for some help. I asked them where I could find a Shell gift card. I showed them a $20 bill, but when the employee told me that they didn't sell these cards in the Shell mart (store), I was appalled. The employee told me that they sell them at the Topps Market nearby, but he showed me (what I found later) the smallest denomination one beginning at $25 and it isn't reloadable. (Two strikes there...!) With all this taken into consideration, I walked out and never returned. I don't know, maybe it's best to stick with Fuel Rewards when you have money on a credit card to pay for purchases and not the gift cards (unlike one of it's nearby competitors rewards programs which will take rewards cards when you pay in cash and still get a discount.) Unfortunately Shell, you lost out that day on a bigger sale. I probably won't be returning, but once I do receive a replacement card, I'll keep it on me, and try some other Shell location.

This is the most awful gas station I've ever been to. For a beautiful neighborhood I can't believe…read morethe town tolerates this disgrace. A few months back I went over at 5 am to get two small coffees only to find out that their credit card machine was broken. The grumpy ass heavyset white guy with an accent told me I had to get cash out of his ATM (the fee to take cash out cost MORE than the two coffees, but fine, I get it). When I went over to the ATM and attempted to use it, that too was broken!!!!! Then the man behind the counter had the nerve to slide the two small coffees over to him behind the counter to tell me I'm not taking them without paying, as if I was going to try to run out with them or something......? It might not be his fault that all things were going wrong but his attitude was beyond nasty. Since then our experience getting gas there has been nothing short of an absolute disaster. I have NEVER seen pumps pump gas slower. The other day it took me 10 minutes to pump TWO gallons of gas before work. This issue has been on and off happening with the pumps since summer. Not to mention the convenient store stinks of bleach, mouse piss, and old sausage. We will gladly be driving father and paying more for gas to avoid this total disaster of an establishment.
