    5.6 Top Cut Sirloin

I've been coming to Hackney's for thirty years. I ordered a top cut sirloin steak (*8 0z.) today -- and after a long wait, I got an overcooked small steak. The sweet waitress promised to bring me another -- and after another much too LONG wait -- she presented me with another. My friend had completed his dinner, so I asked her to wrap it and took it home. The second steak was 5.6 ounces and it cost 27.00. My bad -- I should have had the burger, which is what Hackney's is famous for. When I called to let the manager know of my experienced, she informed me that all their steaks are separately packaged and are the proper weight. No "sorry, we can do better... " Just nuthin. So, on this Saturday, it was a long wait -- and whatever you do, don't order the sirloin. Onion rings, burgers -- that's what they do.

It's our first time here. Quickly seated, casual dining. The atmosphere has some 80s music, darker ambiance, not crowded but a fair amount of people. The wait staff was friendly and responsive. Our family rates the food: French dip #1: 5 stars (kid vote) French dip #2: 4 stars (my vote) Hackney burger: 3.5 stars (kid vote) Chicken Caesar salad: 3.5 stars (kid says it was a little spicy) Turkey BLT: 4 stars (adult vote) Fried onion appetizer: 3.5 stars (2 out of 5 people felt it needed some kind of seasoning, like truffle salt) Overall nice experience! Thanks for having us!

Great service. We went there for cocktails and really enjoyed ourselves. Great service and what a good day to sit outside and enjoy the weather!

This was the first time I've been to Hackneys in quite a few years, but we wanted to eat in the plastic igloos of the holiday for a some festive family fun. The dome itself was fun and decorated inside do a cozy feel, but we were a bit cold even though they do have two heaters going so we are with coats on. There were 6 of us, so it was also a little tight but it was about the experience, so we weren't too worried about that. As for the food, we ordered the onion loaf and potato skins that were both good just as they were in the past, but I do wish there was a sauce with onion loaf. Almost everyone got a burger of some sort, something they are known for, but I got the Hackney smash which is a slightly smaller patty and there are two. I wanted that to be better fo something called a smash burger it really wasn't. It didn't taste bad, but was definitely not a smash burger. Their fries are thin and crispy and I also ordered a cup of chili which was the best surprise of the night. It was meaty with a spicy back and came with all the extras on the side really tasty. Our waitress was extremely nice and attentive for the most part considering she had to come from the main restaurant to serve us, but at the end of the evening I'm pretty sure she forgot about us, but we sat in the dome for 15-20 minutes after we were done eating waiting for the check. My wife had to go outside and get someone. If I'm being honest that drops it down to more like a 3 and half stars, but overall everything else was very good so. Funtime do the family during the holidays.

I'm from the area. Brought my soon to be husband here for lunch. After we got our marriage license! We currently live out of state and got married in my hometown. Loved the chill vibe inside. We had a few beers at the bar. And I twisted my loves arm for the onion brick but we got the 1/4 which was just fine. I wanted the 1/2 one. I got the delicious hackney burger as usual! Love this local spot and the food! Great bar tender!

    Hackney's Original French Fried Onions

I've been coming to the original Hackneys on Harms since I was born, over 3 decades. This place is so special and hasn't changed. This place is a classic midwestern Irish pub - and it shouldn't be expected to be anything more. The minute you walk in, you'll be welcomed with a classic hearty warm meal, friendly service, and fair prices. This place is not and never will be fine dining, new American, or elevated pub fair - and you shouldn't expect it to be. The allure is this place is classic and untouched, a true dive in the best of ways. They pour a great Guinness, the onion bricks are unmatched, and I always recommend the patty melt. Hackneys is home!

    Love the Igloo experience.

This was our third year eating in the Igloo, which is always a fun family experience However, we did notice that this was also the 3rd year that they did NOT bring more french fries when we asked. They advertise unlimited french fries. They bring an average size plate of fries, and every year we have requested another plate, and they have not one time brought it. I wonder if they "forget" on purpose. When we mention it, they always apologize but still do NOT bring another plate to make up for "forgetting". Disappointing. Not sure if this is on purpose or not.

They knew us and when we ordered via the app and dined in, they recognized us and brought the food out to us. This time, we ordered via the app and we waited about 5 mins in the parking lot before coming inside. There were two other people ahead of me. I stood there for 20 minutes before our food was ready. The manager Kathy was awful. Incredibly rude and condescending. Standing there for that long she just looked at me and never said anything. When the food was called, I said my girlfriend had a separate order and told her I'm with the order with the last name "Liu". She kinda gave me a sarcastic response and said "of course you are." Which it came off either like she was complaining about our business or it was maybe even a racist jab at my girlfriend being Asian. When her shake was ready, I went to grab it and said we're missing the mozzarella sticks. She said it was still cooking and I said "no worries." She scoffed and repeated it back me sarcastically. She had the worst attitude I've seen in a leadership role. She was blatantly disrespectful to customers and was also demeaning to her own staff. She didn't delegate much and honestly seemed completely lost when there were four orders on the screen. It only got worse when the drive through backed up, which was served before the people inside waiting. She refused to let her staff take orders because she didn't trust them. The cook finally came to the front and realized one of the men waiting never even ordered in the 15 minutes he was standing there. Even as we left, a customer sneezed and Kathy remarked for them not to come to the counter because she didn't want to get sick. Absolutely awful experience. The food was obviously not warm as half of it was cooked 5-10 mins before the rest. I normally love this location and the staff, but wow do they need a drastic change here.
