One word: delicious! This restaurant recently opens in Perkins Rowe, and it is vibe. The outside and inside of the restaurant is perfectly modern. Very clean and love the music they play. I came on a Sunday around 5 with one other person. We said we could sit at the bar, we waited 5 minutes and then we were sat. I love that they give complimentary chips, salsa, AND BEAN DIP! The chips need salt and the salsa is extremely spicy, but other than that it was spot on. To start, I got the strawberry and mango frozen margarita. It was sweet, but I like sweet. My friend got the la Santana, which I didn't like. We split queso, and the queso was small. For an entree, I got the burrito and my friend got the green red snapper tacos with corn and plantains. My burrito was to die for! It was so good! The queso was just enough and the tortilla was good too. My friend loved her dish. The dishes came out pretty fast and even though the bar was busy, they served our drinks fast too. Love this place!

I had the chicken enchilada in there. I say it was the best Mexican food I've had in a while. Perfectly spiced, nothing bland about it. Servers were very attentive in the place was fancy for a Mexican place. I found out about it through a Yelp notification saying a lot of people have been raving about it. They were right. It was so good. I told my sister about it and she had already known about it and had been there several times. Said it was one of her favorites. Definitely plan on going back.

Pork tacos with pineapple, onions, and cilantro. Fine sides are plantains and tortilla soup

The place is beautiful on the inside. Our service wasn't anything to stand out. My friend and I decided to eat here and the salsa is really hot which I love. Bean dip is good. I got pork tacos with pineapple and it came with two sides so I got the tortilla soup which was basically hot sauce, broth , and chips. And the plantains. The food was okay. The tacos were 20$ and the wine pour was also small. There's other places that are cheaper with more flavor. In my opinion you are paying for the ambiance and the location.

Habaneros is a great restaurant for a comfortable lunch or dinner. There are multiple Mexican style dish options. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu. Heads up... this restaurant has some of the best margaritas in town. They are reasonably priced with many flavor options. I can't wait to visit again for a margarita.

The weather was beautiful so we decided to sit on their patio for lunch. Our waiter was very nice however our experience was lack luster. I got the Al pastor burrito, no bean subbed with chicken tortilla soup. Before ordering I asked our waiter if I am able to remove the cilantro and onions. He said yes. After receiving our food, I noticed my chicken tortilla soup had no tortilla in it. Had to wait a while before our waiter came out to check on us to ask for tortilla chips for the soup. After, I took a bite of my burrito and was attacked by bitterness. I'm one of those people who cannot eat cilantro and the burrito was full of it and onions. Asked my waiter if the cilantro and onion was not removable and he explained that it's pre mixed in so they aren't able to take it out. Wish that was relayed to me before the order was placed. My friend had the carnitas burrito, edible but dry according to them.

Perfect spot for patio weather and watching the kiddos play and graze some of the awesome apps served here! I had a mango margarita and the sampler "chingon", both were outstanding! this sampler app gives many different options, all being delicious.

I've been eager to try Habaneros for a while, and a girls' dinner was the perfect occasion for it. We made reservations, note, your party must be there in full to be seated. Upon arrival, we were given a complimentary drink. Im not sure what it was, but it was sweet! Once everyone was there, we were seated. They have complimentary chips, salsa, and spicy bean dip. The salsa and bean dip were amazing, a good level of spice, which we like. Our server was super attentive. I got the cucumber mint mart, which was okay, but there was something lacking in the flavor. They have a lot of good sounding cocktails, so I look forward to trying something else next time. The menu is a little overwhelming but offers a wide selection. I ordered the Mezcaleros - three redfish tacos, and I got them on corn tortillas. The flavor was perfect. They were very light. The tacos came with two sides, And at the recommendation of a friend, I got the onions and tortilla soup. The onions were caramelized white or yellow onions. My friend said they were green onions last time, but these were good. The soup was the perfect size for a side. There was not a lot of flavor to it, but it was good and had a few pieces of chicken and lots of tortilla strips. Other hits at the table were the crevice, queso, and guac. The ambiance is fun, there are some places to get pics. And the location is right in front of the outdoor and yard games area of Perkins Rowe. I look forward to returning and trying some other fun dishes!

I love the vibe of the restaurant, however the food and service was just ok. I was part of a large party and there was confusion between the staff regarding how the tickets had to be split. I love Mexican and just was disappointed in the food, especially since I had heard great things.

Oily fajitas

The service was very slow and our waiter struggled with bring plates and utensils to our table. Our food was odd tasting and oily. The fijatias did not come out sizzling like fijatias should. The salsa is very spicy. The smell of mopping liquid and windex during our meal made the ambiance pretty aweful.

Beautiful restaurant! Love the inside and outdoor patio space is nice. Service was somewhat spotty and food was just okay. However, I really enjoyed the bean dip and queso. My tacos were mediocre but had potential. My drink was not bad. Overall impression was that it is more about the social atmosphere, but with a little time could improve.

Carne Asada

Habaneros was a break from the ordinary. Great Ambiance (music and interior), authentic Mexican with interesting twists on many dishes (cactus is served rather than bell pepper). The margaritas are also made of quality ingredients - they are not made with neon sugar-laden mixes. All around, a fun experience.

BUT they have recently gone up in price and their portions were cut in half. I ordered kid's meals for my two girls and they were the saddest little things I've ever received from there. I was told this was the new portion...it was less than half the food they used to get. I had to make them a second dinner when I got home. I'm much more likely to forgive if it doesn't evolve leaving my kids hungry. I will not be going back or catering from them anymore. I'm not mad about it, more disappointed and sad. Any place that is known for their oysters will always get my vote, even when they opened during the height of COVID. They still managed to push along and became one of the city's most well-known seafood destinations. Fast forward to 2025 and it's now closed. While I'm disappointed, I can't say I'm surprised. The place went from being the new kid in town to looking dated in a short handful of years. The staff was always a mixed bag, with subpar service outpacing the occasional outstanding experiences. It was always so spacious in here but rarely full, that I never understood the need for the hostess to give my large groups of people a hard time about not making reservations. (#1) The oysters are and will always be the star of the show. I love a good raw oyster and they seemed to have a decent batch each time, however the charbroiled ones were the ones to get. They were buttery, a little messy, and heavily seasoned with lots of salty parmesan on top. It was sometimes the only worth ordering given how inconsistent the rest of the menu was. Some other go-tos were the seafood pasta, lobster mac, and even the occasional gator tacos but even those dishes had their bad days. I was actually pretty impressed with their ribeye, but was quite disappointed with the boudin balls, gumbo, and some of their fried shrimp. In addition to service snafus and inconsistent food, the prices were always a tough pill to swallow. I'm aware seafood will forever carry a premium price tag, but when other seafood places charge a lot less for better quality output, then it becomes a point of contention. While I do hope they find a reason to re-open in Baton Rouge, I think I'll stick to their original location in Metairie.
