Our waiter was rarely around, so we had to ask a different waiter for drink refills. We also didn't get more chips and salsa after finishing the first basket. The food didn't save the experience either. I ordered the pastor burrito, but the pork inside was full of fat and inedible. For a new popular restaurant, I expected much better service and food quality. I've been to Habaneros twice since they opened and both times the food was great! The service has been consistently good. It's so cute inside, however I will say that when it's busy, it can be hard to hear. The first time I got green enchiladas. The flavor was really good, but it definitely was not what I was expecting. The enchiladas were small corn tortillas with cheese inside covered with green sauce and a chicken breast on the side. It was really tasty, but my main complaint is that the tortillas were stacked on top of each other, so the ones underneath didn't get as much sauce and were much drier. The second time I went, I got the chicken burrito. It was amazing and the queso on top is so good! The raspberry house margarita was great. Tip: go during happy hour for 50% off house margs! And just fyi, you can hardly taste the tequila on the rocks, but trust me, ITS THERE lol! My friend got the birria tacos and the street corn. She really liked the birria but wasn't a fan of the corn. The flavor was good, but it's very different from traditional elote! She also really enjoyed the frozen marg but it was pretty strong. Overall, I think this is a super fun/trendy Mexican restaurant! The BR location of this place has finally opened so I decided to give it a try. Pack your patience shoes as they just opened the doors. They were unorganized with advising wait times and for some reason consistently moving us on the wait list but after round 3 of addressing it they handled it. While you wait there is some open area where bartenders will walk around and serve you some drinks for the wait. Parking can be done right near the restaurant or in the very near garage. The salsa and the queso packed some heat. About time! I've been waiting on a restaurant to actually serve salsa with a kick. Chips were fried nicely. Chicken fajitas were ok (kind of dry) but hubs really liked the street corn and quesadilla. We do think the corn would have been really good with a more grilled flavor though. One word: delicious! This restaurant recently opens in Perkins Rowe, and it is vibe. The outside and inside of the restaurant is perfectly modern. Very clean and love the music they play. I came on a Sunday around 5 with one other person. We said we could sit at the bar, we waited 5 minutes and then we were sat. I love that they give complimentary chips, salsa, AND BEAN DIP! The chips need salt and the salsa is extremely spicy, but other than that it was spot on. To start, I got the strawberry and mango frozen margarita. It was sweet, but I like sweet. My friend got the la Santana, which I didn't like. We split queso, and the queso was small. For an entree, I got the burrito and my friend got the green red snapper tacos with corn and plantains. My burrito was to die for! It was so good! The queso was just enough and the tortilla was good too. My friend loved her dish. The weather was beautiful so we decided to sit on their patio for lunch. Our waiter was very nice however our experience was lack luster. I got the Al pastor burrito, no bean subbed with chicken tortilla soup. Before ordering I asked our waiter if I am able to remove the cilantro and onions. He said yes. After receiving our food, I noticed my chicken tortilla soup had no tortilla in it. Had to wait a while before our waiter came out to check on us to ask for tortilla chips for the soup. After, I took a bite of my burrito and was attacked by bitterness. I'm one of those people who cannot eat cilantro and the burrito was full of it and onions. Asked my waiter if the cilantro and onion was not removable and he explained that it's pre mixed in so they aren't able to take it out. Wish that was relayed to me before the order was placed. I've been eager to try Habaneros for a while, and a girls' dinner was the perfect occasion for it. We made reservations, note, your party must be there in full to be seated. Upon arrival, we were given a complimentary drink. Im not sure what it was, but it was sweet! Once everyone was there, we were seated. They have complimentary chips, salsa, and spicy bean dip. The salsa and bean dip were amazing, a good level of spice, which we like. Our server was super attentive. I got the cucumber mint mart, which was okay, but there was something lacking in the flavor. They have a lot of good sounding cocktails, so I look forward to trying something else next time. The menu is a little overwhelming but offers a wide selection. I ordered the Mezcaleros - three redfish tacos, and I got them on corn tortillas. The flavor was perfect. They were very light. The tacos came with two sides, And at the recommendation of a friend, I got the onions and tortilla soup. The onions were caramelized white or yellow onions. My friend said they were green onions last time, but these were good. The soup was the perfect size for a side. There was not a lot of flavor to it, but it was good and had a few pieces of chicken and lots of tortilla strips. Other hits at the table were the crevice, queso, and guac. The ambiance is fun, there are some places to get pics. And the location is right in front of the outdoor and yard games area of Perkins Rowe. Our first time trying this place. It is Very nice inside. They also have a nice outside place to eat also. We were seated by the bar on a high top table which was very uneven. Our drinks almost fell. We had to be very careful when we cut our food. Our food was good. The queso and salsa is spicy. I found my enchiladas very dry. It could have used more sauce on it. But overall it was ok. I ranked this place a 3 because the food was really good. However, the service was not great at all. There was one bartender when I arrived and I never was greeted when I came in... I also sat there for a while before being acknowledged and ordering a drink. It took forever for her to come back and take my order. I always had to track her down when I needed something. My entrée came before my small side of queso. I asked to see if she could check on the queso and never did that happen. She then came over halfway through my food to ask if I had everything and I said I did not have my queso. She then went to the back and quickly grab the queso within a minute and gave it to me. It was obviously not hot since it was sitting back there the whole time. Again, the food was great, I really enjoyed my margarita. I just wish the service is better. She seemed like she was pissed off the entire night. I also felt like she may have been shortstaffed... Therefore, the manager should've came out and helped her in the bar area. Habaneros was a break from the ordinary. Great Ambiance (music and interior), authentic Mexican with interesting twists on many dishes (cactus is served rather than bell pepper). ended up at Habs with 3 friends on a Saturday night, it was veryy busy, which is expected with a new addition to the Perkins Rowe culinary scene, and especially with one so aesthetically luring. They do not take reservations, walk-ins only. We waited about 2 hours for our table -we were able to get drinks started while we waited and hung out on the turf outside to chat. Their hangout area outside is very inviting, they have tables to sit, bars to stand and a cornhole game to play. I like that it's spread out as to not crowd the front of the restaurant. Once we sat, i noticed the style and decor of the place. It feels like you're on vacation somewhere other than Baton Rouge. Very modern and tropical aesthetic. I really liked the vibe it set, great music, good lighting and ambiance. Definitely somewhere i would like to spend my time n money. The menu was fairly big with a lunch menu attached, that at an up charge can be ordered from. We got a round of the house margarita on rocks, and it did not disappoint whatsoever. They immediately greeted us with chips, salsa, and a bean dip. Salsa was surprisingly very spicy, with great flavor. For food i got the flauntas flight .. this one i had some criticism on - the flavor was great! they were all delicious but they came vertical in shot glasses with a sauce at the bottom, i kinda wish the board would've came labeled as to which flaunta is which. kinda got lost with the flavors. and after a while it gets kinda difficult trying to soak up the sauce at the bottom of the glass. we all planned to try dessert but somehow all ended up with full bellies.The staff was nice and very present. We wanted a quick little lunch and we were near Perkins-Rowe, so we wanted to give this new Mexican restaurant a try. The host stand is right outside, so you're greeted immediately and they had a cute little neon sign as well. The inside was very classy; however it was freezing and they stuck us in the corner at a small two top table. I understand if it's a busy Friday night, but in the middle of the day during the week, with all the other tables open, we should be able to sit at a larger table and not in the corner with 3 empty tables along side us. Anyways, we requested to sit outside and the hostess understood and helped us moved. We still sat a small table but at least we weren't in the corner. We were greeted promptly with salsa and bean dip. I ordered a paloma, which didn't really taste like a paloma to me. I could hardly taste the grapefruit. We split the nachos with shredded chicken and they came out pretty quickly. They were one of the better nachos I've had in BR. All the ingredients were laid out even and had a perfect bite each time. After we split the nachos, we were pretty full just by those. I'll probably sit at the bar next time and order a beer and try out some tacos. read more

My fiance and I ordered the ceviche and an order of steak fajitas. The fajitas were delicious, but the steak was cut into very wide slices. The grilled onions and peppers were sliced very thin, overcooked and almost indistinguishable, but still tasted fine. The ceviche was delicious but it was served with a two tostada shells. When the waiter was placing our dish on the table one of them fell onto the floor and he didn't say anything or bring us another one. We had to ask our waitress and she got us another one. I guess the tostada shells are supposed to make the presentation better but why wouldn't it just be served with chips. Our waitress was nice but everything took way too long. We showed up at 8:00 for our reservation and had to wait thirty minutes to be seated. We got a drink from the bar while waiting but the restaurant is very tight so there wasn't much room to stand anywhere around the bar. After being seated and ordering our food took forever to come out. Lastly I'll say that we did go on a busy Friday night and they are a very new restaurant. Our service was okay, they didn't get to us till a while and when they were able to get to us it was to say that they'll come back to serve us in a little (understandable if it's busy.) we were given chips with salsa and refried beans, and the beans were so good lol. Appetizer, we got the sampler "chingon" and it was okay for us. It's fried pork rinds, quesadillas, flautas, and corn on the cob. The pork rinds were good, but the corn was alright. It was mushy boiled corn with elotes toppings. Entree was prestige tacos, being 18 bucks, which comes with three and two sides! The sides were good! The tacos were missing some acidity to it, but the meats were cooked well! The prices for the dishes were good in my opinion, the appetizer was 20 bucks, but it came on a platter stacked on top of each other so it's definitely shareable for 3-4 people if you also want an entree. I think I'll come back in six months lol to give this place another chance. read more

Food was very tasty, I did enjoy its flavor except for the pork which was tuff and without much flavor. My food had rice instead of the refried beans i requested. This is a different style of Mexican food. We had to retrieve salt and pepper as the table was missing it. The music which had a constant beat of the drums which became annoying immediately, I moved to outside seating to escape some of it but it permeated the walls and you could hear it there too. I think they are trying to appeal to a younger crowd which is great but a better choice of music would be be better for everyone, waiter was very nice and maybe a little busy running to inside tables and outside one. Really cute new place in Baton Rouge. It is small so plan on having a pretty long wait. We got there right around 7 and weee sat around 8:30. We got a round of drinks I cannot remember the name of my margarita but it had mezcal and some fruit. It was very refreshing. We got the appetizer sampler to start off with. Every single thing on the plate was really good. There were four of us and we probably should have just split the appetizer. We each did get entrees though. I got the chili relano. Not a huge fan of them fried but it was very light so it still had a good flavor. The rest of my party got the verde enchiladas, the mole enchiladas, and the vaqueros tacos. The couple that had the tacos said it may have been the best tacos they have ever had. Only flaw about the place was how hot it was where we were sitting. YIKES! AWFUL SERVICE! Went yesterday to an establishment that is ran by children IMO. Came for happy hour margs which conveniently is no longer available during weekends even though it is still listed online that they have it. Then waited at the bar which was not overly busy while two of their bartenders just carried on a conversation for 5 minutes knowing we are right in front of them. Then get the margarita to go and it's in a 5oz cup and the marg tasted awful...how the heck do you expect people to keep coming back? Shame on you Habaneros.
