They had some really good Tres leches cake and the best tacos in Baton Rouge. They waiter was super nice and the place had a great feel and atmosphere.

Food : for a Mexican buffet, the taste and quality is pretty good especially for the price! On Sundays only, they offer specialty soups like menudo and pazole! Yummmmm Service : self serve. Ambiance : neat and welcoming

El Magey has been here for a number of years. I love Mexican food and look to try new ones and even though it has been a long time coming, it was worth the wait. The food was good and our server was very friendly, helpful, and sweet. The atmosphere was good and casual. It was perfect for a Sunday afternoon pregame meal.

Always gets better, this has been one of my favorite places for years. The buffet has fresh fruit and salad, vegetables, two types of queso, so many things to select from. The watermelon was crisp, there are quesadillas, beef and jalapeño cheese burritos, several types of desert, flan, tres leches cake, soapapillas, tamales. They give you chips and salsa, the salsa is fresh, the chips are great. They add new items all the time. Fried fish, bbq chicken, diablo shrimp but not spicy, all the sides come with the buffet like sour cream, pico de gallo, cilantro, it's amazing. I paid $20.95 but it's always the best. Great atmosphere. You cannot go wrong at this place.

This is a great buffet with everything on it chichangas, tamales, enchilada, taco's, fish, tamales and so much more. It's all delicious

Highly recommend this place when you want a good variety of Mexican food. It's off the beaten path of Siegen and when you walk in the place is clean and inviting. They keep the buffet stocked and with many options like chicken fajita, pork fajita, Mexican rice, tacos, grilled fish, quesadillas, and some other non traditional dishes. The variety changes on lunch and dinner but keeps the same options mentioned above. Everything is hot and fresh to say it is a buffet. They also will bring you chips and salsa to the table if you want it. If you like spicy salsa, try the extra spicy or the habanero salsa on the bar and thank me later. Reasonable pricing (just really wish they had a bar and this would make it the perfect spot) and great service. Pretty sure this is a legit chose for many BR natives.

Great variety on the buffet. The flautas and taquitos were really good. Shrimp were fresh but could use more seasoning. The salsa was good and had a nice kick But them lengua was horrible. They don't clean off the outer membrane on the cow tongue but it was tender so not the problem. There wasn't any flavor and the gravy it was cooked in was greasy and bland usually not a problem with Mexican food.

Best Mexican buffet! The food is great and so was the service. They need to serve alcohol and it was a little pricey. But worth it!

I wasn't looking for anything specific to eat but this place called to me so I whipped into the parking lot and headed in! This is such a homey type of place that puts a lot of pride and joy in their food and showing off Latin culture. Los Alvarez Exxpress Latin Food is a local mom and pop spot on the corner of Gardere and Burbank next to the S&P Food Store/Chevron gas station. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect going in but what I got was a lot of warmth and comfort. This is a place for Latin locals to relax and get a bit of familiarity and good food. I dined in and ordered the Granadas Catrachas. Catrachas are traditionally known as Honduran tostadas. Los Alvarez puts their spin on it by using Granada flour to create a puff pocket and stuff it with meat, rice and cheese and serve it with encurtido (Honduran pickled vegetables). I ordered one with chicken and one with beef. The serving was huge and absolutely delicious! I was only able to eat one. That, on top of the chips and salsa and black bean dip had me full for the rest of the day! Everyone that works there is friendly and for a second you don't feel like you're in Baton Rouge. This is a magical place.

We also asked for chips and salsa, and they brought out what looked like beans, which looked disgusting. They brought out our food and served white rice instead of Mexican rice. In the rear it's a casual dining restaurant with very nice food at a good price. Both are worth visiting! La Mexicana is located in the strip mall directly across Seigen from the Super Target. Look for the green letters spelling out their name over the facade. If you are there to dine, enter and walk to the back where the tables and colorful booths are located. These booths are great, they have graphics on them that depict everything from pastoral scenes to Aztec deities, all is bright vivid colors! You can pick up a menu from the counter on your way to your seat, or wait for a server to bring you one. There's a wide selection of Mexican/American dishes that probably include your favorites. There's some other dishes as well, including a great little selection of seafood. Another menu area to peruse is the torta sandwiches. All the food seems fresh and homestyle. They usually bring big bottles of red and green sauce to the table to complement the small bowls of salsa and the pickled onion condiments. Another great thing is they have cold Topo Chico mineral water to go with your meal. Looking for a fresh and different place to eat Mexican? Give this local, small, and unique place a try. They've shared the space with other food trucks, which has usually found business when next door Dorothy's (#1) has an influx of cars in the adjacent lot. It may pass itself off as a taco truck, but like many of the Latin businesses in the city, it's really a Honduran one. My first time coming here was a tough one. It was late afternoon and their platters had sold out for the day but they had still had number of meats (chorizo, barbacoa, chicharron) available for tacos. The subsequent result was an unmemorable output of tacos that I wouldn't care to get again. No salsas, limes, and additional condiments could save the meal. As always, shoot for their Honduran specialties. However, their platos tipicos plates are the real true sell. The early morning / lunch crowds will enjoy their carne asada plate, which is often paired with their rice and beans with a little cabbage salad topped with chimol. If not, the baleadas are usually a safe bet. I prefer mine "con todo" with eggs, meat, chicken, sausage, cheese, beans, and crema. There is no set schedule that I've been able to find in the last few years. They will appear and sometimes not be there at all. Social media has been sparse and like many trucks, the prices aren't listed on the menu. The service has been lukewarm at best and I would recommend going the takeout / eat in car route since the outdoor seating provided is limited and not weather proof. ___________ (#1) https://www.yelp.com/biz/dorothys-soul-food-kitchen-baton-rouge My photos: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/antojitos-express-baton-rouge?userid=ysCBsXWPB-LAiewVS3jZfQ
