Our server was Sophia, we were there Saturday evening. Our server came and gave us menus, the guy brought us chips, dip, she bought us our drinks, no straws, then disappeared for 25 mins. It wasn't busy, the bar was empty, maybe 6 booths had people, 3 tables had people, two other waitresses, she was back and forth but never came over to take our order. We were just about to leave and here she comes. She took our order, came back out to ask us again what we wanted. Order came, she left, never came back to refresh drinks, didn't show up till it was time for the check. My quesidia was greasy and falling apart, my husband steak soft taco was full of fat and greasil. It was not a fun experience, and the waitress was horrible. I'd been to this establishment with some coworkers a few months ago. Recommended it to another coworker for lunch, and they got my order wrong so I kindly sent the order back to have them remove a few things from my taco- no big deal. The waitress returns with the "new" plate and there is a buzzing sound coming from the plate- a fly which she, my guest and myself all honed in on. I let her make it right and bring another plate for the tacos, as she would bring me new refried beans. The shrimp/crawfish were stale on the tacos... This isn't my first time dining or taking out. They have upgraded the menu to offer new items. About 2 months ago, I ordered takeout. I had a large queso dip adding beef and spinach. But there was no spinach so they offered to make another one, I appreciated it being I traveled a good distance and had to come back. The only suggestion is easy on the beef as it overpowered the queso which was really thick in consistency and took away from the flavor. This time, I ordered the Birria Tacos. It wasn't terrible in taste, but more like a regular plain brisket taco with Birria consumé. It was served with rice which was a little dry in texture so I didn't eat it. Customer service is always a plus whenever I go, so no complaints there. Friendly atmosphere and has been quiet the last few times. read more

I've been to this location a few times thinking it can't be all that bad every time. My wife ordered a drink and it was brought to the table and had a bug in the drink. We notified the waiter and he brought a new one after apologizing. I ordered a plate with no beans on the plate and extra rice. Well food came out with beans on the plate. I would have assumed at least no charge for the drink but that wasn't the case. Full price for all the items. This place is open as of 10/17/20. Went here with a group. Service was great! I enjoyed the salsa and black bean dip. This is the first Mexican restaurant I've been to that offers complimentary bean dip. The chips were ok, I prefer thinner chips. The salsa and black bean dip were good. The veggie fajitas were ok. The veggies were not seasoned but I appreciate that they offered a variety of vegetables and had a vegan friendly bean option. The refried beans are vegan friendly, but not the bean charro soup. The food was filling, the music was nice and the restroom was clean. They also offer paper menus which is nice. They have drink specials but not on Saturdays. Although, my meal was just okay, I would recommend for others as all the other members of my party thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Everyone ordered fajitas: shrimp or beef/steak. read more

I got food delivered from here and I'm so glad I did. I would have never thought about crossing the river for dinner so I'm glad my app showed it to me. They had an amazing deal going on so I got a ton of food and it cost me very little. The food was GOOD and the portions were generous. The only thing I didn't love was my side tamale (dry.) My combination fajitas were so delicious; all the meat and shrimp had a real grill flavor and good seasoning. They put in plenty of tortillas and chips and even gave me a large container of delicious salsa on the side. The guac was tasty too! read more

We did have a large crowd outside, maybe about 38 people. I feel like our server got thrown under the bus. It was probably an hour before we got napkins or utensils, or even all tables to get chips and salsa. Took probably another half hour or plus to pay once done. Never was asked for refills on water and such or even menus given to most people anyone until after we had finished a margarita. Our server was super friendly and was serving people as fast as she could. There were at least 3 other servers (playing on their phones. When I'm at work, I always help out my coworkers if they need a little extra help with challenges. It felt like only the bartender and our server was busting their butts. Also, cheese enchiladas were lack luster. Cheese was very thick, and I've had a lot better. On the other hand the pineapple margaritas were delicious. I'm not big on Mexican food so I never really visit Mexican food restaurants. I did however have a taste for some queso dip. We visited on a Saturday evening around 6:30. The parking lot was pretty full and there were a few tables occupied on the patio. The inside had a decent amount of guests. We were immediately seated for a party of 2. We were given complimentary chips, salsa dip, and bean dip. This was okay but don't really eat salsa so I'm not the best judge. We didn't try the bean dip at all. I ordered the seafood Queso, it came out warm. It had shrimp and crawfish. I didn't care for the shrimp but the crawfish were good. It didn't come with separate chips so I just used the ones left that came with the salsa. My daughter got the brisket tacos. It didn't look like anything I would enjoy but she said it was pretty good. While sitting the table next to me got fajita steak with onions and shrimp. It was brought out sizzling. This place was GREAT! Service was excellent, food came out fast. I had the brisket tacos, one soft one hard, then my girlfriend has 2 beef tacos, one soft one hard, all excellent. Rice was amazing. Chips and salsa were great, really nice touch with the bean dip. Then you had the guacamole that was fantastic. Very very reasonably priced and great atmosphere. Can't ask for more! The best restaurant on the WB in my opinion. Besides Benoits cracklins haha but that's a different situation ... the Carne Asada tacos are what I get every time because if it's not broke, why fix it? I placed my order over the phone for pick-up. When I got there, the young lady asked if I needed a table, I told her no and that I had called in an order. She asked my name and went to check on it. She came back and told me the total. I handed her my debit card and she went to swipe it. When she came back, she had my food and card with receipts in hand. As I'm standing there with my hand extended for her to place my card in my hand, she didn't. She put my card on the podium and proceeded to put my bag of food on the FLOOR!!! I kept my cool and asked for the manager. Moe (manager) came and I voiced my issue to him, he called her over and she admitted to putting the bag on the floor. They both apologized and Moe asked I wanted them to remake it. I said yes, but if she was so comfortable with placing my food on the floor, what makes me even want to eat from here anymore. He assured me that the kitchen was clean and there are cameras that I can view at anytime. He even invited me to the kitchen. Not totally a mess but seemed to be pretty decent for the beginning of a rush hour. After waiting a few more minutes for my food, it came out and the same young lady handed it to me and apologized again. When I got home, I began to eat and the food was delicious! Las Palmas has reopened as Rio Cantina! They've remodeled and added a lovely deck outside. Every time we've been, the service has been excellent and the food delicious. Also, they serve salsa AND black bean dip with the chips. Love that! Y'all come out and see them. read more

Unless it's from New Mexico and I hear the words "Red or Green?" or it's Mucho Mas in Michigan City Indiana, I try to steer clear of Mexican food. It's part of my post heart attack nutritional evolution. Yet, when the Plant Leadership Team decides to go to Lunch here and they invite me along, I'm not in a position to say No. To their credit Las Palmas features "healthy" choice on their menu, which at a minimum does not include refried beans or chips. Food and drinks are good. Service SUCKS. When you have a big table come in and other tables as well. As a server you should never abandon your other tables for more than 10 minutes. my table and the other table in this particular section with a big table were abandoned for over 20 minutes probably closer to 25 minutes. We asked another server to have our server come to us bc we were ready to pay. that server came back with an attitude. And when our server finally came back she had an attitude as well. IF YOU CANT HANDLE YOUR SECTION THEN FIND OTHER WORK. In other words our bill was 39 bucks and some change. I didn't want to wait another 30 minutes for change so her tip was like 30 cents. read more

Eh. I don't normally review chains, but this one is at least local to the Greater Baton Rouge Area. I wasn't thrilled with the experience. I ordered nachos, and they were so-so. For one, it's a Mexican restaurant that only plays country music. That was probably an indicator that my experience was only going to be average. The nachos we're sort of just piled up on each other. This is good in most cases. The messier the better. But in this case all the ground beef was stuffed in the middle. There was too much guac and sour cream sitting on top. The chips were fused together with the cheese. It was difficult to eat, to say the least. The ingredients were also not very good. Nothing tasted fresh. It seemed almost like it was microwaved. I'd eat at Las Palmas in Brusly again, but don't bother with their nachos. read more

First time eating here last night with family. Service was pretty great. I had the 3 cheese enchiladas with cheese sauce that was excellent! Rice was a little dry and beans not a little hard. I am only giving the 3 stars because for me, restrooms are next to priority. The men's room was disgusting. Even if it were mopped, the room is stained from the walls down with I don't know what. The ceiling is flaking, the men's stall is falling apart and has no lock on it so the door barley stays open. A dirty outhouse would have been better. I might get a to go order from here but I can dine here again until that bathroom is fixed. I always wash my hand before I eat and after but I felt worse after walking out of there. !!!!!! read more

"It's just okay Mexican food". Unfortunately, there is nothing authentic about this place. It gets busy because it is one of the few places in town that large groups can gather for a decent meal that does not break the bank. During my very first visit here, me and my husband ordered, he went to the restroom to wash his hands and the food showed up on our table seconds after he got back. Fast food in a place I was not expecting fast food. All that was going through my head was that they opened a can of beans, microwaved it and wrapped some already prepared meat with it in a tortilla. I was not impressed! The second time I went, it was bumped up a notch because the fajitas were sizzling and they kept the drinks coming. So, it was definitely better than the last. The food is fabulous, but there is a waitress that loves to steal your change and gets mad when you request YOUR money. That is not good.
