One of the best food places I ever ate at they aren't always that busy I don't know why other people think that it's not good it definitely deserves more than 3 stars probably for what I think is best for them they definitely deserve a better star review that it shows right now. My first time at an El Paso and it was nice! Super cute and clean. The chips were hot and really great. The Salsa and beans were both good. Lunch came quick. I had a beef taco salad that came with guacamole and sc. my husband had crunchy beef tacos and he said they were good. He could only eat 2. The plate came with rice and beans. We like coming to El Paso Mexican Restaurant for a couple reasons. One, my wife is from and we lived in El Paso for 17 years. Two, because of the authenticity of the food. My wife loves Chicken Mole and loves the way they cook it here. The Chili Colorado is the best I ever had in a restaurant. Excellent atmosphere, interior beautiful, food excellent....service not so good! Our waitress comes to take our order, in the middle of it leaves to help buss a table. Then she forgets she never brought us eating utensils. By the time we received utensils, our Food was getting cold. Her attention was def elsewhere. Re-fills what refills? Then we asked for to go boxes....never mind! Definitely a go to place because I don't believe bad stalk will be there long. If you want authentic Mexican, you can find it here at El Paso. Went for lunch on a Monday. The restaurant is nice and clean. The service was fast, and the waitress was friendly. The food was tasty, some of the best Mexican food I've had since moving to Louisiana from California, however, it was cold. My frozen mango margarita was tasty as well. They brought food fast and forgot hot sauce. Didn't check back until I was done so I didn't get hot sauce or refill on drink. Highly recommend not going here service is terrible. I sat at bar and waited patiently to be served while bartenders walked back and forth not even offering me a menu or drink. In disbelief one bartender came over and moved the chair right next to me to accommodate two guys who she obviously knew that had just walked in and they were served immediately. At this point that was it for me, I walked out and gave the hostess my review of the terrible service. If they could be rated a negative zero I would rate them as such, but I was forced to give at least 1 star, they will never get me to comeback and I will be sure to spread the word not to eat here. read more

Lunch on a road trip so we tried El Paso. Attractive decor and very clean. It was quiet inside but the outdoor area faces a busy street. Rosa our server was efficient and attentive. Had I not ordered what I ordered, I would probably give three stars. The staff were friendly enough, but some problems arose with a language barrier. All was resolved relatively timely, thankfully. The chips for sure are straight from a bag. We had to ask for a new basket because, other than a few whole pieces on top, most of what we were given were crumbs. The salsa is mediocre; not sure if it's homemade or from a jar, but at the very least seems like fresh onions are added to it. The menu is fairly typical; my party enjoyed their fajitas, tacos and flautas. I was disappointed the tacos were not the traditional corn tortilla, but most Mexican restaurants in the South are this way. I was going to order fajitas myself, until I found the seafood portion of the menu. The menu can be a little confusing because it's broken up a bit weird. I found a Whole Fried Fish accompanied with Spanish rice and a salad. It reminded me of my days on the Amazon River, and I was all about it. I could not have been happier. The fish was quite large, whole (as suggested) and so very fresh. The rice was tasty, and the salad included lettuce, tomato, raw onion and avocado. I cannot stress how good this dish is and for only $14. I brought home a decent amount of leftovers after eating to my heart's content. I absolutely recommend this dish and would tell anyone to go here to get it. read more

I usually don't write reviews but I don't see how this place has even 4 stars. Fajita Chicken was very salty. Queso sat in window too long starting forming skin on top by the time it reached the table. Even Top Shelf Margarita took 15 minutes to get to the Table and they were on 10% full in the restaurant. Was back in a few Saturdays ago...flying solo and wanted to check out the bar area...service at the bar this night wasn't terrible but wasn't as outstanding as the first visit. They definitely have upgraded the chips since I was last in...these were light and crunchy as well as fresh and warm They carry Sol cerveza which is a plus for me since it is my current favorite of the Mexican cervezas. SInce wasn't terribly hungry simply ordered the the ground beef nachos...I was in for a surprise by the size of the portion. This option came off the Appetizer section of the menu and was rather large. It was good eating and they do something a little different than other Mexican places I've ordered nachos at...they cover their nachos in queso in addittion to some melted cheese. Let me preface by saying that the service was 200%. We had not one problem with our waitress and we were checked on many times. I never went without a refill on my lemonade once. Everyone was very friendly, polite and the place was clean. Our problems began with the chips and salsa. None of it was homemade. I could tell that the chips came from a bag and that the salsa came from a jar, or worse...a can. They were offering a special on your choice of fajitas (chicken, steak or shrimp) for 9.99$ so we took them up on the steak fajitas, an order of the steak fajita tacos (three) and the #31 which came with a chicken flauta, a chile relleno and a beef burrito. I really enjoyed the steak from the fajitas but there was so little of it. When our waitress first set it down, she literally said "it just looks like there isn't a lot because of the size of the skillet". I was able to make two small fajita mini burritos. I'm glad we ordered the tacos because it wasn't filling at all. For 10$ I felt like it was not a great deal and this was WITH a discount. The tacos were equally bad. The steak was again, great, but the tacos only came with cilantro and fresh onion. There was no sauce of any kind and they were ultimately bland and dry. My husband enjoyed the flauta and that's about it from his combination plate. Although he asked for a chicken chile relleno, it only came filled with cheese. He said it was decent but not something he'd order again. It was eerily similar to the chile relleno that you'd order at Pancho's. The beef burrito was basically the 1$ beef burrito you'd order at Taco Bell. Nothing too great or remarkable. The worst part was that after ordering two "Corona-Rita's", we were very surprised to see that they were 14$ a piece. Our bill was over 65$ and neither of us left satisfied. I wish we'd gone elsewhere. So no, I won't be back. This was very bland, expensive Tex-Mex and wasn't worth the high price. Please read the hidden reviews. They are accurate. read more

Typically I am frequent visitor at El Paso! My fav bartender(Nicole) always ensured her patrons were assisted and treated well. Apparently some new owners/waiters/waitress have come in and the service has been HORRIBLE. My last two visits left utterly disgusting taste in my mouth for El Paso. The last visit specifically, i asked the waiter for a regular margarita with no salt/sugar, a order chicken wings and a soft taco with pico instead of regular tomatoes. I received a margarita with salt on the rim, a taco with regular tomatoes and side order of pico and no chicken wings. This a regular order for me sooo I'm pretty aware of how i can order but i guess what i asked for did not matter bc he wanted to argue about what comes on the taco. When i placed order, i asked this young man if he had my wings on his order.20-30 min goes by and ask for my wings and he looks at me with a blank look as if i didn't initially order them. I told him don't worry about. At this point I'm annoyed with the service, he brings the ticket and we clear our bills. My bill was 11.49 and 0.00 for tip BUT yet when it cleared my bank, it cleared 27.49! So Roberto added himself a $16.00 to my bill!!!! Needless to say the restaurant will need to refund my money or I'm disputing the bill. read more

Being the hungry traveler, I took a chance and pulled off the highway, and El Paso caught my eye. I was happy to discover the place was large and clean, run by a Spanish speaking staff, and an extensive standard Mexican menu, catering to a brisk business of mostly locals. I ordered a combination plate that included a beef taco, beef enchilada, and a beef tamale. The order came out in about 5 minutes, piping hot, and it was a perfect portion size. The food here isn't exactly gourmet Mexican, but it is tasty and satisfying. Sure beats fast food any day. read more

Hmmm well what can I say. Honestly, I have never been a huge fan of this place mainly because I always leave smelling of the fajita smoke LOL. Today we decided to stop in for lunch before heading to the outlets. Well, not a fan. My $9 meal was literally just what was pictured. No rice. No sides. Literally just two tostadas, a thin layer of refríes beans, and a mess of lettuce, tomatoes, and like a smidge of guacamole on each (I had spread it for the pic). That's it. That's more like an appetizer or a $5 meal. Wow. Then my husband's taco salad was tiny for the price as well. They also need to control their fly problem. Yikes. I almost remember that being an issue my last visit years ago. Oh well, it is what it is. We gave it a shot and I wouldn't recommend this place honestly. At least my Sangria Margarita was good. LOL. Drive a few more minutes over to Airline Hwy. Several similar places for Mexican food. I have been wanting to try this place for awhile now! There are several locations throughout the Greater Baton Rouge area and I finally made it to this location. It was late afternoon on a Saturday and I met my husband there. He got there about 15 minutes after me so I was alone for the first part of the experience. I walked in and nobody was at the host stand. It took about two minutes for someone to come over and greet me. They finally did and took me to my table. As soon as I was seated, the server came over. I told her that my husband was on the way and we were in a slight hurry and that I was ready to order right then and there. I ordered shrimp quesadillas for us to share and guacamole. I proceeded to ask her what flavors of margaritas they had since it was not on the menu. She didn't know all of the flavors, so I told her if they had raspberry then I would take it. She then walked off leaving the menus on the table and came back about five minutes later and said "did you want anything else besides the margarita?". I still did not have the margarita or chips or salsa and the menus were still on the table. I replied "do we get chips and salsa, or is that extra?" She said yes and looked around for another server. She then came back and dropped it off. My husband got there and our food came out. She never asked us if we liked how things were tasting or if we needed anything else. She dropped the food off and walked away. The chips and salsa were very underwhelming. The bean dip and guacamole were good and the shrimp quesadillas were okay. The margarita was nothing special. The beauty of this place is that it has ample outdoor seating when the South Louisiana weather cooperates. It is also located not far from the Tanger outlet mall and is probably a better option than the places around there. Hands down the BEST Mexican restaurant I've tried in this entire area (we're down here for work and have worked in the area several times before but never found this hidden gem somehow). I had the carne asada enchiladas and my husband had the huge burrito supreme. Salsa was really good, and so was the complimentary bean dip they give you! We will definitely be going back!
