I have driven by this restaurant so many times and I thought to myself, it's been years and the place is still standing considering it's surrounded by a whole bunch of gyro/souvlaki/Greek places. So I finally decide to go in and give it a try. The Gyro was pretty good, above standard, but the service was unattentive at best. My gyro didn't have any lettuce and they were extremely stingy with the Tzaziki sauce because they want you to order an additional side of sauce at an extra cost. Now I know I'm a condiment whore, but the amount they gave us below standard even for a regular person. My boyfriend ordered a chicken sandwich instead of a chicken souvlaki but they said the order was in and it was too late to change it. The chicken was tender however you don't go to a Gyro house and order a chicken sandwich. That was unfortunate for him. The best part of the meal was probably the fries as they were cooked to perfection and I'm not huge on fries. The baklava was pretty good and pretty good just means it was above standard and a nice large portion for the price. When I go there again? Probably not, not with all the other options close by but I still haven't tried. read more

Gyro World is a reliable Greek spot that reminds me of the busy, touristy places that line Monastiraki Square and some of the busy streets heading towards Plaka in Athens. Lots of energy here, it smells great with all the grilled meats permeating the air and the service is fast moving efficiency. Here are some recommendations: Instead of the Gyro (beef and lamb) which is the ubiquitous cone of processed meats found in most US places that offer "gyros" go for the Greek Gyro which is made of pork, more typically seen in Greece. Souvlakis, Loukaniko (Sausage), and Bifteki (seasoned, grilled, ground meat patties) are all other solid options. If you are more than one person then get a combo to share of 2 to 3, or the "Gyro World plate" for large groups to try some variety otherwise stick with the generously stuffed pita sandwiches. Haloumi, toasted Cypriot cheese, is a very generous app served atop pita triangles with cucumber and tomato. Dips are solid and generous as well. I liked the melitzanosalata (eggplant dip). The taramasalata (fish roe dip) was also good, but a bit salty. Seasoned pita is brought out on the table with some Tzatziki - most dishes have tzatziki so unless you are a major fan and eater of tzatziki you should get plenty without ordering it. Can't go wrong with Fried Calamari, a large, perfectly golden mound. A small Horiatiki salad, the center of most Greek meals, is huge and easily feeds 2 or more. All the ingredients were super fresh - bright red tomatoes were an unexpected treat considering the cool spring we've been having. Also...prices seem to have gone up tremendously and the portions were much. The large greek salad had 1 very tiny thin sliver of feta. The souvlaki on the salad was not very plentiful either. I say this is my go to non seafood Greek place. I think it's quick, cheap and the portions are ridic. The place has expanded over the years and it seats a good number of people. This is a review given based on the service I received during the COVID-19 quarantine period. As a loyal customer for many years, I had expected more from them. I know this is sort of a weird time for businesses.. but they often say that people show their true faces during a crisis. I placed my order online at about 6:00pm on a Sunday, and was told it would be ready at about 6:45pm. So arrived expecting to grab my order and go.. instead I found a very unorganized crowd on the sidewalk outside the shop. I wish I could say I found my way easily to the end of the line, but let's just say that what I saw there resembled anything but a line. When I finally made my way to the window around 7:15pm, I was told that my order was not ready yet, and that it would be 5 more minutes. Well, let's just say that 5 minutes turned out to be another 45 minutes. And it wasn't just me... Nobody there was happy. I eventually got my food at around 8:00pm. Sorry Gyro World, I understand that these are tough times, but making your customers wait 1-2 hours for their order without any explanation, is unacceptable. Really awesome place for Greek food. Their prices have went up slightly and portions have gotten smaller but that's just with the times. Calamari is always a must. It's super crispy (they include the tentacles!) and is served with yummy marinara sauce. I always get the gyro (beef & lamb). I can't remember if it usually comes with lettuce but I did not get any this time but there were a bunch a red onions. For around $9 they still give a ton of meat. It's open until midnight so great for late night food. Parking is kinda though as it's right on a busy Northern Blvd and residential parking is tight. I love Gyro World. The gyro is obviously a must have here, hence the name. I also had the grilled octopus which was a special during lent and I was very pleased. My boyfriend ordered the buffalo wings (which were really good when I stole one) and my Dad ordered the grilled chicken salad which also looked very fresh and attractive. Service use to better. It's been going downhill since the renovation. Maybe it's under new management? I felt racially profiled and disrespected by the old man. Guess they dont appreciate black customers? He tossed my $5 bill change at me and said "hello" in a very rude way to by son when his order was ready so he could come and get it. When done eating and we were leaving he watched us leave in a suspicious way, kept his eyes on us and it made me extremely uncomfortable. Have always loved their food, but very disappointed in the lack of quality customer service today. Called the restaurant because my on app purchase was not going through and i received nothing but disrespect on the phone. The "manager" answered the phone and told me there was nothing he could do and it was just problems on my end. This review is strictly about their service as I am generally a fan of their food. I was driving by gyro world and saw that the front door was open and the electric "open" sign was flashing "open." I placed a call to ask about their salad options and dining in protocols. The male employee on the phone had a poor attitude, told me they had not opened yet (apparently they were to open 15 mins after my call) and told me he was doing me a favor by taking my call before they officially opened. He then cut me off when I tried to asking about dining in. Growing up in New York City and living down to block from on of the best Greek restaurants in the city, Spartan Souvlaki, I can confidently say my knowledge within the realm of Greek food is of the upmost seniority. Also I noticed that their vegetables are sliced much larger that other souvlakis making for chunks of tomato instead of a sliced marinated version. The food at gyro world is decent, it entire experience was okay but the lack feta cheese throughout the meal unfortunately does not help to satisfy your Greek craving. Very welcoming and polite staff. If you order to go, expect to wait at least 35-45 min especially when the weather gets nicer. Place is nice and clean. We have been to this restaurant for both dine in and take out many times. Their dine in service was ok but the take out was not good. The food used to be better but our son likes the burger so we come back occasionally. Recently, the burger is not as good as before too. Also, they increase the price pretty often. So this review is based on my take out order on this Friday night. I called in at 7pm for 1 classic burger, 1 greek burger and 1 onion rings. I asked for grilled onions instead of raw on the burgers and was charged $1 each, so total of $2. They told me the order will take 20 mins. Drove there but couldn't find any street parking. Be aware, limited meter and street parking Spent 10 mins looking for parking. At this point it has been almost 35min from the time I called. Finally saw the restaurant delivery car pulled out so I parked in his spot. Then realized it's not an actual spot but thinking I should be in and out of the restaurant in 5 mins since the order was placed over 35 mins ago. Walked straight to the cashier and told her my name and paid for the order. Then she told me the order still not ready, so I asked her how much longer. And if it's going to take more than 10-15 mins then I have to move my car and come back. She maybe new and looked around seems confused and searching for my order receipt. This bald guy standing next to the cashier, I believe is the order packer, asked her what is she looking for. She said I want to know how much longer for my order. I had no clue what happened this bald guy, he replied in a very nasty attitude, and raised his voice on me, "don't you see we are very busy here" (pointing on the order receipts on the packing table, I saw about 5 or 6 receipts). "We don't know how long it will be ready, you just have to wait." I was shocked with his attitude, because I wasn't being nasty, so I told him that "I just wanted to know because my car is not in an actual parking spot, and I will come back if it's going to take longer than 10-15 mins. Besides I was told 20 mins and now is almost 40 mins." He didn't even listen to what I had to say, and stopped me while I was talking. The cashier girl standings next to him was nervous and told me I have time to move my car and can come back in another 10 mins. While the cashier was telling that this bald guy shout out and said "what's the name on the order", then repeat again, "I have so many orders here, can't you see. I can't tell you how much longer." still with a nasty attitude. Meanwhile, I wasn't even talking to him, it was the cashier trying to tell me to come back. I was about to go out and come back, and he called out "don't go". He found my order receipt and was packing my order. Apparently, it has been ready on the countertop and he just didn't pack yet. He literally just threw everything in a plastic bag, the food and the condiments. He was complaining while packing with anger. I saw one of the ketchup packet was on top of the greek burger which was wrapped like a gyro, not wrapped in a foil, you can see the tomato and lettuce. It was disgusting and not sanitize. (I have attached pictures) This is not acceptable. When he was about to hand me the bag he asked the same cashier that if I paid or not. The cashier couldn't remember, and looked around for the receipt. But she's the one whom charged my card and witnessed the whole situation. (Like I said, she maybe new at the job.) Anyway so I thought to help her out by saying "I paid" but this bald guy refused to acknowledge. Then the cashier said "she paid" and he still saying it in a nasty tone, "I am just asking". Then finally he gave me the order and I was furious and just walked out of the restaurant. This bald guy treating customer with no respect, and extremely nasty attitude. I am not sure if he is the owner because I don't think any workers will treat customers like that, unless they want to be fired. If he is the owner, good luck to him, he definitely not getting any of my business. This is not the appropriate way to treat anyone. The Health Dept should look into this restaurant, that's not hygienic to put condiments on an open wrapping food. To top this whole situation, the onion rings is cold inside. The food quality is on a huge decline here , sponge like texture beef and lamb gyro dry French fries , too much vinegar in the salad , they tack on a surcharge for any little thing .. like getting taziki sauce for your meal is extra .. the service is extremely slow. I finally got to try this spot for dinner with a friend after passing by here a gazillion times. Greek is one of my favorite cuisines and I was really happy with my meal here. We shared the Platter Combo of 3 which comes with your choice for 3 types of meat, pita bread, tzatziki sauce, and a choice of soup or salad and a side. For the meat, we went for the Chicken Souvlaki, Beef & Lamb Gyro, and the Bifteki. I must start by saying that the tzatziki sauce was amazing! This is one of my favorite sauces ever and it is very well made here with just the perfect amount of garlic and shredded cucumbers for the crunch. I loved it so much that I could not take a bite out of anything without it. Chicken Souvlaki was really good here! I usually go for Pork Souvlaki since it is the original but my friend said the chicken was really good here and he was definitely right. Chicken was juicy and had a nice charred flavor on the outside. Beef & Lamb Gyro, the meat was so tender and the seasoning was so flavorful. Bifteki was interesting. It appeared to me more like a burger patty. It was a big just too charred for me that night but the inside was good. Fries were nicely seasoned but a bit dry, however, the tzatziki sauce saves the day! Lemon Rice Soup was pretty good and well balanced. It was not super lemony like other variations that I had at other places. There is real chicken meat, vegetables, and rice-pasta grain in every spoon. I am definitely coming back next time for pork souvlaki and for more of that tzatziki sauce! Overall, I really liked the casual atmosphere of this place. The warm summer evening was just the perfect setting to sit by the open windows to enjoy good food despite the view only being cars speed by on Northern Boulevard (haha!). read more

Food is usually good but the service sucks. The waitresses are more concerned about their breaks than their customers. I was served something that the manager even acknowledged wasn't good and the waitress never addressed it and blew me off after I sent it back for something else (lemon potatoes were dry and over cooked). I was never asked even once "how are things? Do you need anything? Ect. " I had to constantly wait and flag down whoever I could to get a napkin, more water, & my bill. The waitress took my bill but never came back to give me my credit card or receipt. The manager ended up having to do it, because she had to take her break. I have been eating here for 14+ years and the service has gone completely downhill. Nobody knows what's going on. Nobody is attentive. Nobody cares. Everything seems to be a chore for everyone there, except for the busboys. . None of the servers seem like they want to be there. They are always looking towards their next break and usually pass down their duties to whoever will take it. Thank God tips aren't automatically added to the bill, because they haven't earned it. The busboys suffer in the end because they don't get what they've earned, due to the overall bad service. I talked to the manager and he seemed more worried about getting me my side order to go, then listening to the issue at hand. This isn't the first time this has happened. I have been going there for so long that I keep trying to give them another chance. But over and over again I am getting the same girls that don't seem to care. Customer service is what you provide as a server, especially when you are working in hope of good tips. But if you don't like your job then get a different one. The customers shouldn't have to suffer for it. People go out to eat to relax, enjoy good food, and for good service. None of the above were met. A cozy little spot on the corner of Northern Blvd in Flushing...location is perfect and it's hard to miss. I've been coming to this place for a few years because my cousins live down the block and never once have I had a bad experience. I came here last for a bite to eat with my parents and my boyfriend. Unfortunately the AC either wasn't working or there is no AC because the place was steamy hot. We still decided to stay because we know the food is amazing and we managed to find parking close which is rare. For dinner I went with the bifteki platter which included fries and avgolemono soup. Yessss I know it was hot outside as well as inside but if you've tried the soup you would understand how good it is and why I decided to go with that rather than the salad regardless of the weather. Bifteki must be one of my favorite Greek dishes because it's simple and it's pretty much a well seasoned burger without the bun. Gyro world happens to season the life out of the chopped meat and grill it perfectly...crispy outside and soft in the middle. Besides the bifteki being one of the best dishes on the menu, the warm, soft pita bread with tzatziki sauce for dipping is a terrific touch to start with before your meal arrives. Gyro world is my favorite greek restaurant. I order from them weekly for our familys friday dinners. I have also ordered catering from them over 30+ times. Their food is always the freshest, zestiest and flavorful in the area. They are very clean. The grilled chicken is my favorite, their fries are awesome and i love their tzaziki. Also- the greek salad is sooooo good! However they never give enough dressing - ask for extra. Sometimes they tend to mess up your order but i wont take a star off for that cause i love them so much. Service is as fast as they can be but for fresh food you know youre going to wait 45-60 minutes for your food, factor that in! I would highly recommend this spot! read more

My husband loves coming here for the gyros. Before I went on a vegetarian diet, I remember loving them here. We usually order take out but every so often, we'll eat in the restaurant. Clean, bright, casual and with friendly service - Gyro World is a solid and affordable choice for Greek food in Queens. My husband ordered the gyro platter with french fries and a side Greek salad. I took the salad because I love it (and my husband is happy to be excused from eating it!) and ordered a bowl of bean soup. They don't make falafel here (Gyro Corner on Francis Lewis Blvd does and is another favorite of ours) which was a bit of a disappointment. It gives out a bright, loud vibe: yellow/orange colors, open space, loud music. Got the chicken souvlaki gyro sandwich with fries on the side. Yesterday I was there for take-out, I added an 8 dollar tip since I wanted to give a little support even if I was not eating there. I know it's been hard for restaurants during the pandemic. Long story short after I paid $60 for a small salad, mozzarella sticks, halloumi, I forgot to ask to add an extra tzatziki sauce. The guy charges me 1 dollar. Since I didn't have any cash, I only have my credit card, I asked him if he can just give it complimentary and he wouldn't. I asked him really?!?!? I showed him my receipt, I tipped 8 dollars for a take out and he couldn't give me an extra sauce, that I have to pay for. Really???? This was such a disappointment, needless to say, I am no longer coming here EVER!!! And I will tell all my friends about this!! read more

I literally come here every other week... why? Because it is so delicious every single time, without fail! This time the bf and I came on a Wednesday evening and it was fairly quiet so we got seated immediately. Food: 5/5 We usually get the platters because they're so delicious and super plentiful. They provide some lovely bread with tzatziki sauce as appetizers! Gyro platter- so much gyro! Add side of rice and salad and it's such a plentiful and delicious meal! Chicken breast platter- similarly their chicken breast filets are amazing cooked/ super juicy and delicious! Ambience: 4.5/5 The only con is that sometimes it takes much too long for water cups to get refilled. Otherwise servers are very friendly and attentive. The place itself is clean and during summer, it's lovely when the window/doors are open for some sun and wind throughout the restaurant. read more
