Gyro World is serving up authentic Greek dishes in Astoria. I was able to try a plethora of dishes. The meats were seasoned well and juicy. That chicken and gyro were fire and packed with flavor. Then on the souvlaki meats I got bigger pieces of chicken with herbs on it. I was able to try different spreads like spicy feta and tzatziki. The pita was nice and fresh. It was my first time trying The Greek sweets. The baklava was amazing. The texture on the orange pie was interesting and you get a rich orange flavor. Overall this place has a family vibe to it. Shout out to Dimitri who helped me.

Ate here today by myself on a nice Wednesday morning trying this place out. I had only brought the beef and lamb platter that comes with pita bread, raw onions, tomatoes, fries, a can of soda and tzatziki sauce. It was definitely great and delicious. The service was just alright and the cashier took my order was kind of rude to me while I was trying to order and served me with an attitude when I sat down patiently and got my order correctly. Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again next time.

My mini me was in the mood for a gyro so we were in the neighborhood and stopped on in this place. Spot was quaint and they even had outdoor seating that was closed in. We chose to sit inside. Our server took care of us right away. We both ordered the lamb gyro. Lots of lamb. Nice and tasty. It was too much for me and I wasn't able to finish it. Not too bad of a spot if you're looking for gyros.

Greek salad with chicken souvlaki. And lamb and Beef & Lamb Gyro Pita Sandwich

We got the Greek salad and i added chicken souvlaki and the pork and beef gyro which was excellent. Service was great and quick. Easy stop for dinner or lunch.

I placed an order thru Uber eats. They had a special going on that said "buy one get one free" I decided to order for that reason. I ordered the chicken souvlaki dinner box that comes with chicken souvlaki, lemon potatoes or rice (I chose potatoes) and a Greek salad. The restaurant then called me to tell me they are not doing that special and wanted to let me know so I'm not disappointed. They asked if that was ok and I said sure. I received my food and the portions were extremelyyyyyyy small!!! I could understand If that was the portion with the buy one get one free special but for $18.95?!?! Normally a chicken souvlaki platter comes with at least 2 souvlaki sticks .. this came with one!!! The salad had no feta cheese and I received 3 pieces of potatoes. Not only was the "buy one get one free" false advertising but the food itself was a disappointment. I won't be ordering from here again.

Extremely disappointed by the food! Food: I ordered the spinach pie, chicken gyro pita, and chicken Caesar sandwich. The spinach pie tasted raw, where it was hard to bite into the shell and was too salty. The chicken gyro pita sandwich had a weird after taste and the chicken felt rubbery. The fries were very oily Price: compared to the size and quality of gyros you can get else where in Astoria, the prices here are pretty high Service: I ordered through Uber eats and it just took so long for me to get the food.

Stopped by when I was in my old neighborhood and ordered the beef and lamb gyro it was presented very nicely full of meat and lettuce and tomatoes... my only disappointment was the tdasziki sauce was a bit bland... but still a good gyro

    Haloumi Lunch Box

The quality of food is always good, fresh vegetables especially. It has always been, for us, overpriced but delicious. Service has always been very friendly. Recently they've reduced the portions, the size of the vegetables and halloumi in the halloumi lunch box ($18, in photo) are all about 2/3 the size they used to be. Smaller and thinner sliced. And no pita included anymore. Used to be a once in a while thing but not likely to visit much anymore in favor of some other places that also do halloumi well.

I really like this place, service is awesome ,super friendly. Food here is amazing, there greek salad and lemon potatoes is a must try. This place is impeccable, and extra clean. Fresh and tasty, prepared right infront of you. The line moves fast and the staff is always very friendly. I've told a few friends about this place and they all agree. Great tasting gyro sandwich. Go for a combination plates that are available for a good variety of Greek specialties. Pricing is on the high side, but nonetheless this restaurant holds it's own with nearby competitors. Great place, great Food, and open late. They also deliver.

Chicken Bifteki a la carte. Skip all the biftekis

We have been patrons of this establishment a couple of times and both times the food was decent to great. The second time we came, they forgot the fava dip and apologized by reheating the already cold bread and gave us a mini cup of their spicy cheese to try. Yesterday, we ordered taramasalata (fish roe yogurt) dip, bifteki the meatloaf patties) platter that comes with a spinach pie and lemon potatoes, and a chicken bifteki(think chicken meatloaf). The roe came first, it was ok. Then someone decided to take a sharp left turn to crazyville. The spinach pie. We read about their pie on the paper placemat they laid on the table and thought it would be nice to try something they're so proud of. Boy, were we in for a surprise. The pastry dough was tough, chewy and dried out. When the waiter swung by to check in on us, we told him about the pie. He said umm for a second and left us with the unfinished pie. We had to flag him down a second time to ask for a replacement. He said he would get back to us after speaking to the manager. He then came back and told us he could not replace the pie because it was mostly eaten. Mind you, this is a side order included in the platter meal. We both took one bite each to the slice of pie and I had to spit the pie out because the texture of the crust was just too chewy. He said the only thing he could do is have us order something else and that he has to charge us again. Not only did he not try to rectify the problem, he asked us why we did not tell him to replace the pie the first time around. We said we did tell him about and he said he stood there a good five seconds after he checked in on us the first time (he stood there for a sec and ran off). I had to question him why does that even matter whether we asked him to replace the pie the first time around or the second time around. A server should offer a replacement or at least be helpful and take the inedible food away and apologize for the chef. Not in this case! Was it our job to give him options? The rest of the food that came afterwards were unremarkable. The lemon potatoes which are normally good here were hard and dry and the biftekis were undistinguishable loaves of fillers. By the end of the meal, the pies were still sitting on our table. Needless to say, we left $0 tip to the skinny waiter with the curly hair and glasses (Petros R.) Why would we order other food items and try to rip you off of a side order?!?! We also has been served by the same waiter the first time we were here. Oh well! Another place to cross off of Astoria.

    Grape leaves

Neat spot with delicious food. I've been meaning to try the location on Flushing but came here first. Grape leaves: Large portion. Got that nice salty briny flavor. Wrap: They put grape leaves in the wrap. That's a first for me. I will try the rest of the menu. Inexpensive lovely restaurant.

The whole vibe felt warm and made it a really nice family dinner. My grandma and mom both seemed happy and enjoyed everything, which honestly mattered most. We ordered two Greek salads (definitely could've gotten away with just one -- they're huge and very shareable). We also had the Mediterranean spreads: tzatziki, eggplant, and a spicy spread. Everything was solid and great for sharing. We also got grilled octopus as an appetizer -- super tender and really well done. For my main, I had the grilled deboned red snapper -- absolutely delicious. It came with a creamy lemon sauce on the side that you can pour over the fish, plus oregano fries and grilled vegetables. The veggies were amazing, especially the grilled onions that just melted in your mouth. We also ordered takeout: kefte kebab with fries, which was maybe smaller portion but it was good flavor. For dessert we had a baklava float (I think that was the name) with coffees to finish. Very happy with the whole meal overall. Drinks at the bar beforehand were also a highlight -- sangria and a gin, lavender, elderflower, cucumber cocktail that my grandma actually loved.

Each one was vibrant and flavorful -- perfect for sharing (or not). Then came the feast: marinated and grilled squid, swordfish steak, red snapper, lamb chops, crispy potatoes, and more sides than we could reasonably justify ordering... but absolutely did anyway. We had a salad, with slices of fresh feta, Greek olives even dill, cut nice and chewable. Three of us shared appetizers. Forgot name in Greek but the American version the fried cheese was yummy, then a Branzino cooked to perfection, we had another dish looked like a lasagna with Bechamel' sauce baked 2" thick, that too was delicious, also even though I don't eat meat. An appetizer that was like mashed potatoes with garlic and a plate of lemon potatoes. Haven't had those cooked so well in years. The food just kept coming everything FRESH even the cream pastry with fresh cinnamon! I wish I remembered the names in Greek unfortunately I was too busy eating. - doggie bag was graciously given when we left. Definitely recommend and will be returning. George warmly welcomed us and even let us know that street parking would be free after 7:00 p.m.--a small but thoughtful gesture that set the tone right away. The restaurant had a lively, inviting energy, and throughout the meal, George delivered truly five-star service. He mentioned he's been there over 18 years, and it clearly shows in his effortless, seasoned, and genuinely attentive hospitality. Complimentary bread and water with a generous bowl of fresh lemons arrived immediately, a simple yet appreciated touch. We shared a medium Greek salad and grilled octopus--both outstanding, with the octopus especially tender, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. We even took a few bites before remembering to snap a photo. The salad was served with olive oil and herb-infused vinegar on the side, allowing you to dress it exactly to your liking. For our mains, I ordered the grilled whole porgy, while my husband chose the shrimp spaghetti. The portion of fish was quite generous--I ended up taking most of it home, as I was already satisfied after the appetizers. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his pasta, and after tasting a couple of his shrimp, I completely understood why--it was delicious. To finish, we were each treated to a complimentary piece of galaktoboureko, a thoughtful and fitting end to the meal. Warm hospitality, a vibrant atmosphere, and well-executed dishes made this a truly enjoyable experience. We'll definitely be back.

For the mix grill platter - the sirloin was perfectly seasoned, the beef patties were crumbly and flavorful, and the loukaniko was deliciously charred. However, the chicken skewers were a bit dry and the lamb chops were not as tender as I had expected. Their tzatziki is very mild and bland and their pita bread was on the thinner and harder side. The orzo dish was just okay. The pasta itself was cooked well, but I found the taste to be almost watered down; the beef chunks were also dry and failed to soak up any of the flavor from the tomato sauce.
