Decent fried chicken and convenient location if you're looking for a place on the mountain. Been our go-to place for a quick bite.

Food is decent but nothing spectacular. Service is consistently bad. Tea is good. There isn't a great variety to the menu.

Took the wife and mother in law out for a change of scenery to the wonderful place called…read moreChattanooga. Wound up at the aquarium for a couple hours and ended up hungry at the very end of it. Not far from where we were parked we found the Wooden City conveniently across from it all (dare I say a brisk walk's worth) with Mellow Mushroom and Ben & Jerry's establishments at both corners. We were given the options of staying inside or being placed outside and we chose (biased a lil) the opportunity of eating outside. We were taken care of accordingly by Jonathan, who is a perfect example of someone that makes tourism worth it, we chitchatted back-and-forth and came across some great options on our appetizers and drinks. While we waited for drinks, we were served water with ice as the weather outside was pleasant but a little too hot for the afternoon... When the appetizers arrived, we were greeted by not only demonstration, but taste above what I've had as of recent. Wife enjoyed the freshness of the tomatoes and cheese whilst I was mesmerized by how subtle and uber smooth my Old Fashioned was. We unwinded and talked about our day here in this city and then our next meal plates arrived. I had the very unique and well presented Beet Ravioli and the wife had the exquisite Spicy Lamb Rigatoni. Immediate upon arrival to our table my wife and I exchanged a bite of each other's plates to give a chance for our taste pallets to experience one another. The Beet Ravioli took back my wife to a time where she made something of similar taste and the Rigatoni took me back to California when I tasted something familiar then. Towards the end, I saved the location at the name of the restaurant, as I would like a near future to come back and visit with more time. Jonathan was an absolute help for our satisfaction in Chattanooga and we are thankful.

Wonderful start to end. Casual upscale atmosphere…read moreDrinks were unique and flavorful Had the Hungarian peppers appetizer (5/5), Rigatoni (5/5) and sausage mushroom pizza (5/5). Ended with the berry and ice cream dessert (5/5) Nothing was disappointing! Service lovely and helpful. Will be back!

I was extremely pleasantly surprised by my dinner here. It was phenomenal from the decor, seating,…read morevibes, menu, and service. I was alone and asked for a quiet table in the back - I looked at the patio which was really nice and spacious, but it was about 95 degrees so I chose to sit inside due to that. I was seated at a nice booth alone with tons of space and a friendly waitress came to explain the menu to me and take my order. I had a mocktail made that was very good - and they only charged $5 for all mocktails which I appreciate. As a non-drinker it irritates me to pay $13-18 for juice that doesn't even have alcohol. I chose the house salad and it was by far the best I've ever had. Loaded with fresh veggies, delicious dressing, cheese and some breadcrumbs I think. Great size and portion for the price and fabulous combination of items. I chose the salmon with peaches and cream couscous. The salmon itself was wonderful - but that couscous was so good, I could not stop eating it. It had corn and fresh peaches and it was the perfect combination of salty and sweet. For dessert - I went with the Chocolate Bomb.com but found it to be wayyyyy too salty with the toffee, salt, and combo. I wish I'd gotten their famous cheesecake but, next time! Loved everything about this spot. Very elegant and no portion of my food wasn't clearly well planned and carefully prepared. Highly, highly recommend. Located on a fabulous street near many other charming shops.

The food here is fantastic. I highly recommend the trout with the pecan butter--it is one of the…read morebest dishes I've had. The service is excellent; we are regulars and it's top tier every time. The ambiance, especially the bar area is beautiful and can feel somewhere between an elevated casual to mid-high end experience. Some things I'd like to see happen here: (1) a more true and robust brunch menu and please get an espresso machine, (2) brunch could use some live music and/or a dj (like a toned-down Stateside Kitchen vibe or a jazz trio--something--anything). The food is so good here, there is no reason this place shouldn't be absolutely packed on a Sunday.

Back in town, we visited for the first time recently after knowing about the restaurant for a few…read moreyears. We got an order of the hush puppies as an appetizer. They were okay, but for 5 bucks...what do you expect?‍. I would say the accompanying butter was supposed to be honey butter, but it seemed like regular butter to me! The server was polite, but I was scratching my head because she started with---"Let me go see what's not available anymore." Shouldn't she have done that before speaking to us?? The atmosphere is relaxed, but there isn't much to the decor. It was just casual.... there was brown butcher paper on top of white table cloths...kind of tacky really. It was busy, however, which added to the noise. Hubby and I both ordered the 1885 burger. Now, we are talkin'! The burger was delicious! . It was juicy and tasty. Just an all around fantastic burger. This alone is what will bring me and hubby back. The loaded baked potato was standard, but good too. It sounds like this experience wasn't great, but like I said, the burger alone is enough to go back to enjoy.

It was really hard to decide on a rating for our experience. We were super excited to try the 1885…read moreGrill while in town. We went early in the afternoon on a weekday, so it was very quiet. It was also a beautiful day so we sat on the patio. I love that they work with local organizations for fresh vegetables and meat! Our waiter was very nice and fairly attentive. But the food... For the good - the crab cake was delicious. It was like all crab meat with no filler and was very tasty. The pimento cheese was also SO yummy. You could tell it was made fresh and had a great flavor. The pita it came with was fine, a little over-grilled. I was not crazy about the fried okra. I wish the pieces weren't just cut in half, because to me they had that slimy okra texture inside. My gf said they weren't THAT bad, but I really had to push myself to eat them. The rosemary fries have a great flavor and were crispy (I prefer thicker fries but my gf enjoyed these). I LOVE mac and cheese and was super excited to try theirs. It was very creamy and had a good flavor but there was way too much cheese for the amount of noodles. Like the ratio was pretty off. Now for THE issue. My gf ordered the Filet Mignon, medium. It came raw and without the blue cheese compound butter. By the time the waiter came to check on us, I was half done eating. He took the steak to be put back on the grill and brought it back with a bowl of crumbled blue cheese. It was still raw inside. He brought us extra fries, but by the time it came back I was done eating. She asked for it to go and it was STILL RAW. She had cut it, so it was super obvious if you looked. The manager came and talked to us and they took it off the bill, but for a $40 filet mignon it should not take 3 tries to cook it right and it still not really be right. She said there are cold spots on the grill and they're training a new line cook, but it was not a good look... I'd maybe give more of a pass if they were packed, but there was no one eating inside and maybe two other tables of folks outside.
