Gusto is located right outside the cathedral and were skeptical, as usually restaurants near tourist attractions are just overpriced and crappy. When we saw a sign outside advertising home made pastas we decided to check it out. The inside is very cozy and all the wait staff speaks English and is very friendly. The pizza was just okay, however the pasta was phenomenal. Fresh, savory, delicious. They also make their desserts in house and have a ton to choose from. This is one of the best service I've received in a restaurant. I arrived without a reservation and they still found a table for me. When I decided to order a whole paella for myself, i was kindly reassigned to a nice table on the patio. The service was classy and friendly at the same time. I had the mixed paella and it was as tasty as it gets. I even had the pleasure to be treated with a digestive on the house at the end of my memorable and copious meal. The food was great including the fried mozzarella and vegetarian paella which we ordered as vegetarians. Two stars away as I felt a bit ripped off at this place - the check had 2x the price of paella and some additional items in spanish. When I asked our server for clarification, I was told that the price for the paella on the menu is for one person and they brought us serving for two people. We intended to share one helping and clearly ordered one helping as we weren't able to finish what they served us anyways. Also, I saw the bread charge on the check while we didn't touch the bread basket. I didn't argue much over a small charge but most restaurants are courteous enough to not add it to the bill if the party didn't consume any or ask if we want it before they put it on the table. Again food is good but be wary of the typical touristy treatment you might get here. read more

An elegant paella restaurant next to the Cathedral. We brought a large party to Gusto for a late-ish dinner (at least for Americans!) and we made reservations. They placed us in a second floor table which was OK, but it felt a little bit cramped as we were pinned behind a couple with a fussy infant and baby stroller. (They departed about half way through our meal.) We had come specifically for the paella at Gusto which we had read good things about so we only ordered the black squid ink paella and the seafood paella and one sliced steak for the youngest of our party. The service was very friendly and spirited though her insistence on speaking English to the fluent Spanish speaker in our group was amusingly feisty to us. The paella was excellent, served with generous helpings of shrimp, calamari, cuttle fish and mussels. It took a good half hour to bring out, but they warn you in the menu of that necessity. Gusto's paella was served in the traditional way, with no mix of seafood and meat or sausage, which may seem unusual to Americans. The only paella meat option was chicken and rabbit, which did not appeal to us. The steak, the only other dish we ordered, was massive; it was almost as big as my nephew who was consuming it. Served with an imposing knife, it looked like a carnivore's dream. Truth be told my nephew found it a bit tough and imposing, but it had delicious meaty flavor. Lost one star for being a little pricey and tourist-centric, but worth a visit. read more

Centrally located in the charming Santa Cruz neighborhood by the cathedral, amid the many eateries there, it is a modern, hip restaurant doing traditional omnivore Spanish dishes with not one but a few vegan offerings. We had fried eggplants with miso glazed tofu as a starter, then a summery heirloom tomato salad and a root veggie salad with a green dipping sauce. Everything was very fresh and delicious. Came in and had the spinach meatballs. They are so good!! Definitely recommend them. I'm excited to try the paella tomorrow night as it looks fantastic and everyone else was ordering it. We sauntered in here one evening to get dinner and had a great time, they don't start serving until 7:30 (it's Spain remember, late lat late dinner!). We ordered a vegetable and quinoa starter and my husband and I were absolutely smitten with that first dish - our entree's were delicious as well, we had the chicken (super tender) and the beef filet (a full piece of beef, peppercorn perfection!). We were overall very happy with dinner! It does take a while for entree's but overall, it was a delicious meal and we are glad we stopped by! We ended our dinner with caramel cheesecake - in hindsight we would have ordered a different dessert but everything else was delicious! This isn't traditional Spanish food, but it is certainly fine dining - you will be in for a treat. Also, I would recommend coming in here for breakfast as they were one of the only places I saw with breakfast croissants, and they have freshly squeezed juices! read more

I've only been here for breakfast and it was lovely. I recommend the American breakfast- pancakes, a fruit salad and Greek yoghurt with oats. The orange juice is freshly squeezed, which may not be much of a feat to Southern people but since we don't have juice like this where I come from, it was a magnificent refreshing beverage to start the day with. The atmosphere is very calm and serene. I am eager to try this bar for dinner also. Definitely recommend. read more

Wow wow--this was hands down the best dinner we had in Seville, and though it might seem an overstatement, this is likely the highest caliber restaurant in Seville. We were drawn to the artfully arranged plates of diners sitting on their makeshift patio, sidewalk tables. Our server was beyond friendly and warm, a quick and ready smile with helpful suggestions about the menu. We ordered several things to share: Squid stuffed with feta and kalamata; leg of lamb with whole roasted potatoes, larger than fingerling and smaller than russet; scallops with grapefruit and yogurt celeriac salad. The squid was huge, with beautifully charred edges with a smoky taste and filled with a decadent feta cheese--and despite it was squid which if not cooked perfectly, can be tough, this was tender and easily cut with our knife. The scallops also were tender, not mealy nor tough, and the celery salad was everything, tangy and yogurt based mounded into a roulade shape. By the time our entree arrived, we were full, but then behold the lamb: it was enough to feed several, and gorgeously plated, with a hearty tomato-based sauce, rich and satisfying. Though I never return to a restaurant when traveling, I had to go back the next day for lunch: we ordered what turned out to be a near orgasmic experience: a Cherry gazpacho with anchovy, goat cheese, basil oil, and edible flowers. Yes, cherry--Wtf, right? It was a marvel--layers and layers of flavors. It had me hypnotized and completely absorbed in the experience, and so blown away was I, I had to snap a photo something I don't often do. We also got what I call bliss in a bottle: Salmon with creamy chèvre & lavender, fresh chives & dill, blueberries, and a beautiful homemade fruity pomegranate chutney & pumpernickel toast points. To round out the lunch, we had a composed beetroot yogurt potato salad with smoked herring, another winner. I doubt if the chef is capable of making anything bad. Our server, Elena, was beyond adorable; she has such sass and personality, incredibly sincere, forthright, and cute, very honest about letting us know that she though we were ordering too much food (when we'd ordered a 4th dish), and thanks to her for steering us away from this. Throughout, she checked on us without being intrusive, and made our second visit, with her presence, so much more enjoyable. read more

We only had coffee and a light breakfast here but we were very satisfied. The croissant with "raw" ham and cheese was perfect. The breakfast toasts with tomato jelly were just fine and the coffee strong and favorable. Wow! So many awesome things about this restaurant I don't know where to start. Stumbled across it on the way to the Alcazar and in dire need of some coffee. Hesitated a bit because I figured a place so close to a major tourist site would be a tourist trap. But it was exactly the opposite. Not only did we grab breakfast (the Italian: cappucciono, croissant and fresh orange juice for 5 euros!) But after spending several exhausting hours at the Alcazar we came back for a late lunch. The food, juices and coffee are all amazingly fresh and well-prepared. They're also vegetarian, vegan and gluten free friendly. The menu notes if there are any allergy concerns. They also have gluten free pasta and bread. First time I've seen that at a restaurant in Spain! Service was super friendly and fast. All the staff and waiters were great! The entire decor was tastefully done and relaxing! Love this place so much we may go back for dinner before leaving Sevilla! read more

Awful. Absolutely terrible. My meal at Gusto will now become the meal that my partner and I forever compare other horrible meals to in order to make ourselves feel better. First, let's start with the service: snotty waiters who were condescending, unfriendly, and frankly we could tell they'd decided we weren't worth their time when they realized we were just having a light lunch and unlikely to rack up a huge bill. Such terrible attitude that at that moment I wished Spain had a tipping culture so I could show my displeasure. Second, our meal itself: we ordered one of the more expensive sandwiches - Stuffed Focacias. We waited 15-20mins when the restaurant was pretty empty, and received two pieces of warm but dry greasy bread, and two slices of tasteless, cold, cheap mortadella in between. How is that STUFFED? And how did it take you 20 mins to make this gastronomical abomination masquerading as a sandwich? Lastly, to top of the shitty service and sandwich so bad that even though I was starving I only ate half of - the bill arrived and it didn't reflect our awful meal. So in sum, if I could give this place 0 stars I would -- the only silver lining is that I am now certain I have experienced the worst meal of my life, and it's all uphill from here. read more

This place was ridiculous. After ordering 15euro worth of coffee, food, and drinks, I asked the server for glasses so we could fill them with some tap water we had with us. He said that we would have to buy their water if we were to use their glasses. Note that we had already spent money on their food and drinks, the outside temperature was over 40 Celsius, and we had a 60 year old woman who was in need of water.
