Guru downtown is a fancier and upscale Indian restaurant. Food was tasty and full of flavour. It is however on the pricier side. Guru Butter Chicken $21.75- My coworker had this and she liked it. It came with fresh oven baked naan and rice. I tasted a bit of it and I found it on the creamier side. Beef Vindaloo $19.75-This is a spicy but tasty dish. The server gave me a spicy level range from 1 to 10. I choose 6 but I wish I chose 4 instead. It got more spicy the more I ate but still enjoyable! Cauliflower 65 $16.75- This was really yummy! Seasoned well, crispy and tasted like meat! Mango Lassi $5- This was like a yogurty mango drink! Pretty good and the yogurt was strong. My coworker got the strawberry lassi and said that one was too sour. This wouldn't be my go to for Indian food since there are cheaper options out there. A good place to go if you want a fancier experience. Their dinner is more expensive and I heard their cocktails are pretty good.

Came here on Thursday night for their special date night menu. The date night menu is $59 for two people (doesn't include drinks). This price includes two appetizers, 2 mains, saffron rice, naan and dessert. I am a big fan of Indian food and this was a nice to try something a little bit more refined. To start we tried the Cauliflower 65 and Chicken Tikka. For the main, we tried their onion naan, butter chicken and mango chicken. Dessert was a set menu. Overall this was a great value and a nice change from the many Indian restaurants in yeg. My favorite part of the meal was the two appetizers and onion naan! I do wish that the dessert was an Indian dessert (instead of a basic cake). Also if you're coming here, Guru is well known for their cocktails! Worth trying - happy hour is all day on Thursdays.

    nice bar!

So glad this restaurant has opened up downtown. The west end location was always a favorite. Not only is this location better (for me), but its a beautiful room, with killer(and VERY reasonable) wine list, a really nice bar for single diners or after work cocktails, and is steps to Rogers Place. Also a couple really nice private rooms for families or business functions. I will be using those for sure. Food is excellent, creative and beautiful, just like their west location. Service too, is just like the west location. Friendly, efficient, professional. Gurjeet is such a warm host, thanks for the tour. Just dropped in for lunch at the bar, and had a great experience along with a perfectly spiced Vindaloo with the most addictive naan, paired with a rum and mango cocktail. Perfect. Next time I'm bringing a group so that I can try more than one dish...

Food came out slower than typical but it was a good use of our time to enjoy the space and our drinks. Food was good. For sure the burnt ends were the star of the show. But the mac and cheese was good and creamy and the fries were well flavoured and plentiful. Sliders were well constructed. come here for amazing drinks and snacks! And the food is an added bonus.

The cocktails are great. The service was not so great, even though we told them that we were celebrating a graduation. Nothing special and it was so loud that we were yelling at each other. I would overlook it if I thought the food was good. For the amount we paid, the food was okay but nothing that I would run back here for. So I don't get the hype. We ordered a bunch of cocktails (because we were celebrating but not that our server understood that because she didn't even get a congratulation) . and a bunch of food House pork dumplings Truffle Siu Mai Beef Tartare Cha- Siu Shanghai Noodles Wai Siu Chow Fan with added cha-siu 5 spice duck tacos Mozza sticks Nothing stood out. I found they were really heavy with the 5 spice which can be overpowering. I really don't understand the hype. And really everything kinda tasted the same. Like it was painted with the same paintbrush. I was trying to think of something to say about each individual item but really I can't and the portions weren't great. The rice and the noodles were decent but the duck tacos and the beef tartare were almost an embarrassing portion. Unless my child wants to celebrate her masters here, I won't be back.

Still, it was great that we were able to reserve a spot and have a wonderful place to sit. The club is quite nice and the staff are very friendly. The Bower opened late 2012, but it feels to me Edmonton is still trying it on for size (also trying to locate it since there is no signage--follow the slight scent of pretentiousness). Last night there was an eclectic crowd, with post-hipsters well represented, many wearing ties, bow ties, or dresses (and oddly, slightly more men than woman, likely just a chance occurrence). Average age: 25-33. The atmosphere feels like a French salon minus the enlightenment, intellectualism, culture, and revolutions. Wood and brick walls, decorated with romanticism portrait art. Victorian sofas and chairs. And marble topped tables (from Leva?). The Bower is smack in the middle of being a lounge and club. Seating is limited but comfortable. The music is loud, but not too loud. The DJ was playing danceable music, but not dance music (I really liked it). And yes, there is a dance floor and it was being used: I recall a man in a bow tie leading the charge. Drink prices and cover will keep the clientele older. We paid $7 cover even arriving before 10:30. Drinks although not cheap are quality: what the bartender is willing to make, he makes well. The Bees Knees cocktail is really nice (2oz, $10). The Jalapeno Margarita (2oz, $11) was surprisingly spicy and one of the tastiest cocktails I've ever had. The Old Fashioned (2oz, $10) was just as you would expect (I suggest asking for half sweet though). But my friend's request for a Mint julep could not be accommodated (no mint). If wine is your style, you're in luck with a few decent ones by the glass or bottle. Our server was fantastic. I think she was waiting solo and did an excellent job. Despite being very busy she was very attentive, funny, friendly, and brass tax. She is clearly experienced and deserves every dollar she makes. Overall, The Bower is a unique lounge/club trying to cater to us mature children who want to pretend we have (a) little class.

Six restaurants strong, this restaurant group features a different vibe and experience at each one, from the more casual to the truly elevated. The consistent aspect between each of them is that you will be hard pressed to find a finer Italian meal in the city. Bar Bricco (the second in the family) opened in 2014 and has since completely absorbed the next-door space that used to belong to Corso 32 (now making it the most senior in the group). The identity of this restaurant is purely "Italian wine bar;" offering small plates, handmade pastas, and an exclusively Italian wine list. Perhaps the most rambunctious of the six, the quality and care toward the food does not suffer just because the atmosphere is louder and younger. (The younger crowd likes nice things too, as they should.) Ranking at #51 on Canada's 100 Best Restaurants 2016, #80 on Canada's 100 Best Restaurants 2017, and #45 on Canada's 100 Best Restaurants 2018, the accolades don't stop there. Avenue Magazine also named them Best Late Night Restaurant 2019, Best Restaurant for Sharing 2019, and Best Late-Night Restaurant 2020. I visited on a Tuesday evening, excited to add to my Corso 32 Group collection. Located in a sleek row Downtown, Bar Bricco can be found next door to its fairly new sister Rita. The exterior isn't flashy - nothing more than a black awning with the restaurant's name printed in white cursive lettering. Inside the space is moody, capturing a decidedly subterranean vibe. Black hexagonal tiles interlock around the bar and white marble table tops contrast against the midnight hues. The space was buzzing with many occupied tables filled with a hip clientele, laughing and enjoying each other's company. It can get pretty loud but that's the intended atmosphere at Bar Bricco. The idea of mixing and mingling is the entire point. Seated at a table for two, our server was upbeat and friendly, matching the feeling of the room. Blasphemy as it may be, I'm not much of a wine drinker so the curated list of Italian wines got overlooked in favour of the cocktail menu. I love a Sbagliato (Prosecco, Campari, Cocchi vermouth - $20.00) and was happy to find it listed - stunning! Similar to a negroni, the difference is that instead of gin the beverage is made with a sparkling wine (like prosecco) instead. This version was adult and delicious but a bit more fun and trendy compared to a regular negroni because you get the effervescence from the prosecco. A perfect palate cleanser, the bittersweet citrus notes help to cut through the rich food dishes like a dream. The menu at Bar Bricco is inspired by the diverse regional cuisines of Italy. Instead of pigeon holing into one specific province, you'll find plates that feature the best that the country has to offer while keeping the dishes simple and playful. A tasting menu is offered where the restaurant can select the plates for your group (never a bad idea!) but on my visit I had already made up my mind about what I was excited to try. Starting with the Lardo & Anchovy Crostino ($11.00). These are served individually so each person will need to order their own. Each piece of toasted bread was adorned with a singular anchovy and then draped in sheets of lardo, a type of salume made by curing strips of fatback. The decadent and salty flavour was right up my alley however I could have used even more anchovy! I know that anchovies can be an overwhelming flavour and it makes sense not to be heavy-handed but I could have eaten at least a second fish. A really nice bite to whet the appetite! One of the piatti that I had heard the most about was easily the Soft Scrambled Eggs 'Cacio e Pepe' (Black truffle, crostini - $23.00) and I couldn't wait to try it for myself! Every egg should taste exactly like this!! Velvet folds of creamy, indulgent scrambled eggs are seasoned with black pepper and pecorino (just like cacio e pepe pasta) and the addition of truffle brings a luxurious element. Scooping these eggs onto slices of chewy crostini felt like the best breakfast ever, although perfectly acceptable for any time of day. I am ruined for eggs because I need them to be like this forever. I had also heard that the Leeks (Whipped ricotta, 'salumi bomba' & mint - $23.00) were magical. Leeks are having a total moment right now and I see them on more and more menus. A good preparation leaves them tender and ready to absorb whatever ingredients they're paired with. This dish was executed perfectly in the sense that it was beautiful to look at and provided an unexpected heat that woke up my taste buds! The spicy salumi bomba was served on top like a meat sauce while the creamy whipped ricotta waited underneath to cool everything down. The leeks were cut into cylinders, allowing the bold flavours to seep down between the sheaths. An inspired dish! Moving on to pasta,
