Service was friendly and all the dishes were phenomenal. Ordered the following: edamame which was roasted in butter and beef fat. Lemongrass pork chop which has the juiciest pork and crispy and flavourful exterior Large pho with a delicious broth and fresh meat My only comment is that the noodles are kind of doughy! Other than that the portions were reasonable!

Greeted at the door with a friendly smile, seated and told about the happy hour appetizers, they were half price along with drinks. Stopped n to grab a drink and some appetizers. Great place very clean, friendly staff, drinks are delicious. I recommend this place after an Oilers game to wait out the traffic. Great drinks, food was excellent! Music was clear and entertaining. Please ice is right! Food is as excellent!!!

Always great food and service from Brenda! Love their salad rolls and if I'm extra hungry I get a bowl of vermicelli. My son's go -to is a kid's size pho with rare beef. Broth is consistently good and great portion.

I wanted to try here as they had some unique to them Vietnamese dishes. This included their egg yolk prawn and oxtail fries. The drink menu is also very good. The parking sucks as it's in the ice district but you can go before a game or Concert and there is a southern location. They have a cute cherry blossom tree in the center of the room.

Stopped by for happy hour one cold afternoon for some hot soup. The bun bo hue piqued my interest so we got that, wings and a dragon mojito and guava gimlet. The dragon mojito was alright, it was pretty light flavored and I couldn't tast much, however the guava drink was pretty tasty. The happy hour wings are super worth it, for 5 bucks its 6 wings. Super crispy outside with a couple sauce selections, we were happy with our peanut satay flavor. The BBH (bun bo hue) is kind of like pho with a slightly spicier broth with an udon like noodle. It was pretty hearty and the portion for the regular size was enormous. The happy hour deals here are killer, definitely worth a look.

I visited here during their All You Can Eat Pho promo for their third anniversary recently. It was not too busy when we came around 6pm on a Friday night. Service was friendly and welcoming. For their promo, it was all you can eat pho for $18.99. We could order any type of regular pho and eat as much as we want. My partner and I ordered "The Works" pho which included a wide variety of meat inside rather than just one type. The pho was pretty good and I had no complaints. Broth is comparable to other pho places. I was full after two bowls so I only saved around $6 with the promo. I wouldn't say this is the best pho place in the city. There are better places that have bigger portions for a lower price in Edmonton. I love that it's connected to Gongcha so people can order bubble tea while enjoying their meal here too.

Came here initially with the plan to perhaps try the pho challenge, otherwise XO seemed too "white-washed" for my liking, especially with entering the space and seeing a huge picture of The Weeknd up on the wall. Anyway, my friend chickened out of the challange, and where's the fun in stuffing your face all by yourself? We each ordered a small bowl of pho. Tastes great, nice broth, nice fatty beef (my fave), pretty generous with the meat, although my friend's bowl seemed like they skimped a bit; my only caveat is that it's pretty pricey for a bowl of pho, but I guess that's what happens when you're right downtown. Menu is pretty expansive, not just pho and vermicelli. You can also have BBT from the bubble tea joint upstairs (your order is brought down into the restaurant via a pulley! Cool!) Not a fan of how non-descript the bubble tea menu is, and the fact that the staff aren't able to answer any questions about it either. Don't serve the product if you can't tell me what's in it. I guess if I'm in this part of of downtown and craving pho, I'd come here again, otherwise I'd probably hit up Chinatown for pho that's just as good and cheaper.

I've been here a half dozen times or so now in the last two years. XO Bistro + Bar is a great pit stop for dinner before an Oilers game or show at Rogers Place. There is no free parking here - FYI. The decor is modern and there is a bubble tea shoppe upstairs that you can order from and have delivered to you downstairs on a dumbwaiter. The signs in the washroom make me smile and giggle overtime we visit. They have happy hour and game night specials here. On our recent visits, the Oxtail poutine were on the specials and did not disappoint. The gravy, the gooey egg... Hmmm... drooling like Homer thinking of a donut, so good! And I think the last cocktail I had here was the Good Morning Vietnam - also a winner winner chicken dinner! The salad rolls here are also decent with a little crunch inside. The vermicelli bowls here are okay but I'm a total head over heels snob who only has eyes for Golden Bird when it comes to Vermicelli bowls. Hubs likes the Pho here and gave it two thumbs up. The bone marrow here is delicious and oh so good on a cold winter's night. The sizzling udon noodles with tofu were a pleasant surprise! We always enjoy udon noodles but this was a new variation for us(and I recommend you stir in some hot sauce). At night, this place turns into a bit of a club. It's kiddo friendly until about 10pm but I'd mostly have my littles out of here around 8pm or so. They have big screen televisions to watch the game here as well. We will be back again and again and again!

I always wanted to try XO as it had a modern twist to traditional Vietnamese food! XO has a relaxing modern lounge vibe which is great if you are sitting with a couple of friends for some drinks or on a date. I ordered the vermicelli and "the works" pho! The vermicelli was really good! The chicken was soft and crispy on the outside. Really well seasoned! Good mix of sweet and salty. The noodles were chewy and not overcooked, and the vegetables were fresh! The pho was flavourful even without the hoisin sauce!! Good portion of meat! Service was good. Waitress was attentive! Def worth a try! Excited to come back and try some more things!

This is one of my favourite vietnamese places for soup and appetizers. The rice and vermicelli dishes are mediocre in comparison so make sure to order what they specialize in. If I come with a big group I like to order as many appetizers as possible as it's similar to vietnamese street foods like crepes, tapioca dumplings and deep fried goodies. All of it is authentic and delicious. My must orders here are the duck salad and soup combo. It's what I come here for as no other place in edmonton has it on the menu that I know of. And it's pretty darn delicious. If I don't get that. The bun bo hue is loaded with so many meats that I never can finish it! I can't wait to go back to this locally owned business run by a family. Although service is not the greatest. They do provide whatever you need if you ask for it. They definitely won't bother you when you visit here. As most people just eat quick and leave. It's not one of those places you sit and chat and have drinks at. But for what they offer. It's affordable fast convenient and authentic. One of the best in edmonton!

Little has changed on the interior, except for the addition of a large fish tank. The menu is very typical of Vietnamese noodle houses, featuring a good selection of pho noodle soup, vermicelli noodle bowls, and rice dishes. I opted for a bowl of pho with medium sliced beef and brisket. My soup was full of meat which was reasonably tender and lean, and came in a broth that was well-seasoned. Colleen, my co-Volunteer Coordinator, ordered a bowl of Thai spicy pho, and she ordered it without any meat. She was happy with the flavour of her soup and its abundance of noodles. I started with a green onion cake, finding the two large rings of fried dough and green onions to be large and not too greasy, as well as a bit cheaper than I've had elsewhere. I also decided to do something I rarely do when I order pho - even though I find the complimentary green tea and broth from the soup to be more than enough liquid intake for one meal, I decided to try one of the iced drinks. Being a dreary winter day I felt some extra vitamin C was in order, and opted for a glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice. It was incredibly fresh and full of pulp - I literally felt like I was drinking an orange in liquid form. Prices are in line, if not lower, than other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. Our entire meal, which also included a can of pop for Colleen, cost less than $25 before the tip. Service was fast and friendly and neither of us had any complaints about the food. Winter is the perfect time for a steaming bowl of pho, so consider heading to Viet Huong.

Service is fast, but minimal. Nobody came to check on us at all during the duration of our meal. I had the beef satay soup, which, unfortunately, is only available in the regular size. I normally don't find the regular size filling enough to last me until the next meal. The soup was good though; not overly spicy with a nice peanut flavor to it. Not a fan of how lean the beef was though; I prefer some fattiness to my meat. My brother and mom both ordered a large bowl of pho and they felt the broth was watered down and bland. My mom felt the large size just meant more broth and did not feel full at the end of her meal. My mom also did not like how lean/tough the beef in her pho was either. For 2 large bowls of pho, a regular size bowl of satay, a small bowl of noodle only and a side order of spring rolls came out to just over $56. The Groupon is a good deal, but I don't know if I'd make this place one of my go-tos for Vietnamese food as there is definitely better out there. Staff won't allow happy hour specials at discounted price despite being in happy hour time frame. Hoang long is a modern clean space with bamboo accents and a newly renovated area. There is a large patio out front for summer. But it being closed off made the entrance kinda blending in. I was looking for the entrance and walked right by it. Trying to figure out how you get in is a slight challenge. As the door blends in so well and it appears it's just the patio. But that's the entrance. I visited quite early during happy hour at around 6pm. The place was entirely empty except for staff which was slightly disheartening. But I'm sure this place is bustling during the lunch hours. Wait staff were slow to greet me so I sat myself and grabbed my own menus. The menu Is vast. A huge range of thai and vietnamese foods. From soups, sandwiches, grilled meats and stews. Looking through the menu was overwhelming but at least there is something for everyone. We decided on trying the chicken satays with peanut sauce. These were a famous item popular during the taste of edmonton. They did not disappoint. They charred them so nicely I could hear the fire crackling in the dead of winter. But the best part was the peanut sauce. They don't provide this during the taste of edmonton. But it brings the dish to new heights. I would say...stick to the grilled meats here. They don't disappoint. I throughly enjoyed my bun bo hue. It was authentic and tasty. It made my list for top 5 in edmonton for sure. Portion was perfect and the ratio of meats and noodles were just right. Another great dish. My only vice was that it was happy hour...advertised from 3-7pm. But the staff would not allow discounted prices despite it only being 6pm. They had decent options like wine, beer or a customized cocktail for $4. The server states happy hour is over despite it clearly stating it is until 7pm on the menu. I point to the board and he says it's full price. Whatever. I don't like misrepresentation on menus. And discrepancys are misleading. For this I minused a star. Service was haphazard. I seated myself. Got my own condiments and even got my own drinks. I had to go to the counter to order my food and pay at the register. All the server did was put the food on my table and clean it up afterwards. The whole process downgraded the whole modern vibe to more of a cafeteria style establishment. I felt jipped tipping bc i basically served myself. So minus another star. Overall. The food was great. Slightly overpriced. But the atmosphere reflects the price in the heart of downtown. Service was okay but the whole happy hour misrepresentation was a huge turnoff. I won't ever be buying drinks here in the future. Bc hey...they don't follow the advertised prices on the menu. It's decent. I would revisit if I am in the area. But it definetly won't be a go to place that I would drive to if I was hungry.

Inside there was just one table occupied but there is a decent amount of seating for the lunch time crowd. It seemed cleaned. The combos they offer are a rice or noodle (pad thai that didn't look very appetizing) and then up to 3 or 4 items. The food was under heat lamps so I could see what the options were. I decided to get the fried rice and a few items. I choose a chicken first and looked at the other items before deciding on the vegetables with cashews. The woman serving me had the rectangle take out container about 2/3 full and she kept suggesting food such as the green beans and then the sweet and sour pork. Both didn't look very appetizing. I think she was hoping I would pay for as much food to get rid of since the lunch time crowd had passed but she wasn't generous with the quantity. I decided on the beef skewer and then was done. At half price I paid $7.35. I brought the food home and heated it up. I liked the beef skewer but the rest of the food wasn't very good. The food tasted greasy and I had to use my fingers to eat the chicken was it had lots of bones. I'm not sure if it's from this food, but I didn't feel well after. Definitely would not pay $14 for the food I had as lots of other great restaurants around. It would probably be better to go during the lunch hour when the food is hot and fresh but I'll pass next time I'm in the area.
