Dockside is a little shady, lets be honest. It's also not the cleanest of establishments (we got served water with questionable floaties not once, but twice... ick...) I don't think I would trust eating there. BUT. The karaoke here is awesome! So much fun and a great atmosphere. The regulars are friendly and are just there to have a great time singing their hearts out. The song selection is very large, with a particularly large country music selection. read more

Googled this place and unfortunately ended up there and only stayed for one drink. As my partner got out of the cab there was a man standing at the door not sure if he was a patron or bouncer but this clearly white supremacist individual stared at my poor cab driver (whom was dark skin) like he was very unwelcome. We still decided to stay and give it a try although the bartender could care less if we were there or not and screwed up my drink order or spiced Rum and coke pressed ... she did not add water. I've been to dive bars and I like the them they remind me a my teen years, but this was straight up the worst bar I have ever stepped foot in. read more

This is a good place for karaoke lovers. It is located downtown and everyone is really friendly. The place looks a bit questionable but it is actually a comfortable atmosphere. Even if you don't love karaoke you will after a few drinks. They also have pool tables and VLT's, TV and couches. The place really grows on you and is a nice place to kick back and have some drinks. Especially if you are over the club scene. Just don't be afraid of the looks of the place because it is really a good time. read more

The drinks were good, and inexpensive which was great, and the staff was super friendly and it was easy to start a tab for drinks with a large party, which isn't always the case. The only downfall with this place, is the clients. I did not feel safe at all with the clientelle that was in there, and were creeping around outside the place. Typical dive bar. It's in a hotel and more than a little rugged. Went there on St. Patrick's Day and it was surprisingly empty but we were told it got busy later. There was only one person working the kitchen and the bar so service was pretty slow. The nachos we ordered were loaded though. There was almost too much on them which made them soggy. The drink specials were great $6 Guinness! They have karaoke as well but I haven't been. read more

A group of us came here after the winefest on the recommendation of a colleague. The bar itself needs updating, but who cares! I enjoyed the down to earthness of the staff and the friendliness of the regulars who come there to karaoke. This is the main reason we came here. I've been to a few karaoke bars and this place had an extensive list of songs. The drinks were cheap and food tasted good. I plan to be back for sure I enjoyed it so much! read more

So I have not been to this place in a year and right away I could tell it was under new management. The staff were friendlier, the decor is changing and they not only have beer on tap but also a cider...LOVE CIDER. We played pool with some of the regulars who were hilarious. Plus not like other places the regulars were very welcoming. They didnt give you the big stare down and freak out if you actually used the jukebox...which by the way had a huge selection. Next night we went in and karaoke was on the menu ...the whole bar gets into it and next thing you know you are on stage and the whole room is cheering you on. Cant wait to go back, heard they are going to be having a wicked karaoke Halloween party and I heard its a $5 entry fee but its all going to charity so thats cool! read more

This bar has a fun theme and decor bringing the ocean to land locked Alberta. It has a fun vibe, but even with their new menu the food is fairly typical uninspired bar food. They have karaoke three days a week. The service is friendly but sometimes a challenge. read more

The Dockside is one of the only bars of its kind in the area - a borderline seedy, no-frills hotel-type bar that reminds me of the ones I usually wind up in when hanging out with my dad. It was first introduced to me on a late-night date; we ordered gin and sodas (that turned out to be gin and flat tonics), sat on a torn couch watching subtitled television and eating extremely stale (but free!) popcorn from a plastic beer cup, tried our luck on the VLTs (but only once) and played a few games of pool. Since then I've been back many of times and find the Dockside to be one of the downtown bars I feel most comfortable in. It's a place usually populated by the lonely, the weird, and (on Thursdays) the karaoke lover, where everyone's generally friendly, there are no pretensions, and you can watch old drunk guys belting out dirty rap tunes. It's a great spot to go to midweek for a quiet Kokanee and game after game of pool, and one of the few neighborhood options that isn't a club or an overpriced theme pub. The Dockside won't appeal to everyone, but for those who like their drinking establishments a little rough around the edges yet still safe enough to walk home from at night (with your date as an escort, mind), it might be a hit. read more

I recently moved to Edmonton and was on the hunt for a great Karaoke bar. Searched on my cell and this place came up as one of the Karaoke spots. I like the bar layout with all the wood accents, and the staff are mostly receptive and helpful. Each time I've gone i've been served by a different bartender or waitress. Two of the staff I can remember by name as they were both wonderful. Sue, introduced herself as the Manager and was excellent. Sherry, not sure how to spell her name was super kind and loves her Oilers. I've had the pleasure of being hosted by two great Karaoke hosts there. The sound is second to none. Very loud but still can hear myself during a conversation. I've read in previous posts that some of the regulars there are sketchy. Yes that's true, but anytime you go to a downtown pub you're bound to run into some. No one bothered me, but I can well handle myself if I had to. All in all a great place to go to. Pretty much what you find everywhere else. Buddy who hosts could take a few less smoke breaks and be a bit more on the ball, but he seemd cool enough. Staff was cool." But now there's an update.
