It's fine. Definitely not a destination eatery. What I'm saying is, don't come for the food. If you happen to be on the beach, want a quick bite, and don't mind paying a premium for what I can only assume is the convenience factor, then by all means eat here. However, if you call on a Saturday to make reservations and they are all booked up, don't feel bad; you're not missing out in my opinion. Everything we ordered was fine, but just overall kind of bland. The jumbo wings...well they were definitely jumbo I'll give them that. But flavorful? No, that I can't say in good conscience. A little oily, a little spicy, lightly breaded. By the way, you CANNOT get them un-breaded which tells me one thing: they were breaded well in advance, otherwise if they were being made to order getting them un-breaded wouldn't be an issue. Also, are they served with blue cheese dressing? Ranch? The non-descript white liquid is so watery and flavorless it's impossible to tell. Also, there was a long hair in my celery. It happens, but generally when the food prep staff is not wearing hair nets. It's the little things that paint you the big-picture of a restaurant. My wife said the Cesar also had no flavor. And why can't we order from the beach? You can get drinks served to you at your chair but you gotta go stand at the bar to order food? Whatever. Like I said it's fine, honestly. First, I ordered the jumbo chicken wings with barbecue sauce. On the menu it said buffalo sauce but our waiter was glad to make the change. Without a doubt the barbecue on these wings was the best I'd ever had. It was slightly smoking with a nice sweet flavor. The meat was great and it was mainly lean. For my second meal I choose skirt steak. The steak had a terrific taste with a jubilant cilantro lime purée served on the side. The atmosphere was one of the best I had ever been to. Waves crashed against the soft golden sand as the sun set. The sun glared its final light across the beautiful ocean. On the more unfortunate note the price was quite high as expected for such a meal and view. I would highly recommend but know there is a high price to pay for such excellence. read more

Being essentially one of the three spots in the area that have views directly to the beach, we find ourselves visiting often during our trips to Vanderbilt. While I wish with my entire heart that we had more 'beachy' not ridiculously priced restaurants, I guess that's what happens when commercialization takes over the beach. This place has one of the most beautiful views overlooking the beach at sunset and belongs to the highly acclaimed Ritz hotel (aka pricing being ridiculous). If you're looking for a quick, not super filling bite with cocktails that end up costing as much as a steak - you've found it. Even the kids menu costs $15 a meal. In fact, to avoid the excessive prices I ordered directly from it. Highly recommend this quick hack because the portions are just enough and well worth avoiding the final bill here. All in all, it's a must and I feel sad to say it but it is what it is. It's more about the experience than the cost and gumbo limbo offers that with a very tiny menu. read more

Enjoyed a beautiful sunset while having some appetizers and drinks. Coconut shrimp and lobster quesadilla got high ratings from all. Chef Torres stopped by our table to ensure all was good, we will be back to try entrees. Would give 5 stars for food, service and ambiance but drinks were pricey. $9 for a plastic cup of draft beer and $18 for basic cocktail, $16-18 for mediocre wines, much more per glass for my favorites. First of all, the view can't be beat. Wonderful outdoor place to watch the sunset in front of an uncrowded, perfect beach, when it is not hot out. There is a small outdoor bar area that faces the water and a casual outside eating area. This place has been closed for most of the year (recuperating after hurricane Ian), so we were delighted to get to go back. We opted for the bar area facing the water. For us, this was a nostalgic visit. The hotel is beautiful. You can valet park for free (if eating at one of their restaurants) or you can park in the nearby beach parking structure (free only if you have a Collier county parking pass) and walk in from the beach. My drink was good, but $24 for a normal cocktail and a glass of soda water, seemed overpriced. The cocktail was $18, so I guess the water was $6. They did not itemize the bill, so i'll never know. Maybe the 6$ was for the tip, or for the slice of lemon? Anyway, I suppose they will need to save some money for next year's hurricane, and the service was great, so maybe I'm being over-fussy. I eyed the food ordered by other patrons, and decided that it would be prudent (and cheaper) to eat a meal elsewhere. Although a bit off topic, may i point out that if you are budget minded and still want to watch the beautiful sunset in North Naples while eating a meal, you can always take your own picnic and beach chairs to the public beach, just North of the Ritz. read more

A beautiful beachside cafe, hardly tarnished by the fact that it started sprinkling as we arrived. If you come here, you can valet park at the Ritz-Carlton main entrance, then it's a fairly long walk through the hotel, outside, around, down a few flights of stairs, out onto a boardwalk that eventually ends in Gumbo Limbo. There is no "indoors" option at this cafe and, although each table has a generous umbrella and the umbrellas almost overlap each other, once the downpour started it was hard to avoid getting wet. However, we were at a pretty sheltered table with just two of us; had the other two seats been filled, some of us would have gotten pretty soggy. That's my rainy-day tip. Now, on to the star of the show, the FOOD. We ordered the "jumbo lump crab cake" with pepper coulis for our starter. It was a generous portion, but I am quickly learning that "jumbo lump crab" in Florida is entirely different from Maryland. Our server told us they use blue crabmeat and while it was a little more shredded than I prefer, it was delicious and the red pepper coulis added a nice kick. For lunch we both went the grouper route; I had the grilled grouper sandwich, on a house-made brioche sesame seed bun with the house salad for my side, while my brother had the grouper tacos. Seeing the enormous, inch-thick, meaty grouper fillet I was served just cemented for me that a couple of nights ago at a sketchier beachside grille I had, in fact, been served catfish and not grouper. This sandwich was two thick fillets, it seemed like a half-pound of fish. It was accompanied by a nice aioli and my only criticism is the fish was a tad overcooked. My brother's grouper tacos were excellent, large portions of grouper with a zesty slaw topping. His came with a trio of delicious sauces, a green tomatillo, avocado crema, and a hot salsa. Service was excellent with many servers and bussers ensuring waters were kept filled and empty plates whisked away. There is a chalkboard facing the beach with specials elaborately written on and accompanied by beautiful Halloween (this time of year) and beach scenes drawn by a truly talented chalk artist. We watched her work, then she popped back into her hostess role! There is a full bar with a porthole-mounted clock permanently set to 5:00 ;). The views are absolutely incredible which is why we ended up at Gumbo Limbo TWICE during our weekend getaway in Naples. We couldn't make a reservation online but luckily we didn't have to wait to be seated either time. The tables are spread out from each other and the waiters all wear masks. You can also see staff often cleaning frequently touches areas like bathroom door knobs. They do have a very limited menu due to COVID, which is the only draw back. Nonetheless, the food is delicious and you get decent sized portions. We had the turkey burger, regular burger, and gumbo salad. Definitely full after all of those meals. Ooh and let me end with the best part.. the view! Florida summers are extremely hot and there was nothing nicer than catching some shade, enjoying a drink, and still getting to see this amazing view. Ate here twice for lunch during stay at the Ritz-Carlton. Every seat in the restaurant offers a beautiful view of the ocean. The hostesses and staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed the grouper sandwich, the lobster quesadilla during our first visit and the grouper tacos and wedge salad with blackened shrimp on our second visit. The grouper was extremely fresh and the quesadilla offered a very generous helping of lobster. The wedge salad packed great flavors, and the blue cheese was not overwhelming. The service was the worst that I have ever had! The waiter took 30 minutes to ask for our drinks. Only took 25 minutes for our food. Then took another 30 minutes for the waiter to bring our check! This was a perfect day to enjoy the fresh air, beach , great weather and lunch at Gumbo Limbo at the Ritz Carlton in Naples. Located outside of the hotel towards the water with a breathtaking view of the Gulf and white sandy beaches. This is a perfect place for fresh grouper, burgers, salads and great for a laid back casual lunch. They also have a nice bar serving up great cocktails and beer. There is free valet parking here but, make sure you save your dinner receipt and show valet when you're ready to leave. We enjoyed some flavorful Pina Colada's while dipping our feet in the Gulf while waiting for our table. We didn't wait very long before being sat and enjoyed the Shrimp and Cheese Fundido with chihuahua cheese, shrimp, chipotle, roasted garlic, cilantro & flour tortillas. It was very delicious with lots of shrimp and we made little soft tacos out of them. We shared a Gumbo Salad with grilled chicken, pickled chayote, avocado, goat cheese, fried chickpeas, onions, toasted macadamia nuts with a citrus vinaigrette dressing. The salad was nice and light but I do prefer romaine over the spring mix. Our daughter ordered the cheese burger off the kids menu and pleased with her meal though the cheese was not melted which was the only complaint she had. The service was good, not spectacular because it was super busy! The prices are well above average and to be expected since your dining at the Ritz. I noticed this beachside bar/restaurant while at Vanderbilt Beach and decided to try it out one night. Being from out of town it was confusing figuring out how to get there. If you plan on driving you will pull up to the Ritz-Carlton, they will valet your car and you will walk through the Ritz to get to the restaurant. This was a little bit awkward because we didn't know this and we were still in our swim wear so had to cover up in the valet line. Luckily they were understanding and we had a laugh about it. We got there a few hours before sunset. Had the BEST pina coladas of my life! Get the floater with it! We also had the chips and dips which was also the perfect snack we were looking for. We stayed until sunset and I highly recommend that here. Such a perfect stop for couples and families they are so accommodating and nice. It is also a great beachside bar on the far end of the restaurant. They have a connected bar only area that I enjoyed a Bloody Mary and shrimp cocktail after a day on the beach. Worth every penny. Side note - when you walk through the Ritz there is a champagne vending machine! It is epic and a must see. You can purchase tokens for them at the front desk. Do it! read more

This is my first ever non 1 or 5 star review as I prefer not to comment on mediocrity. However, I believe I have some useful advice - DON'T COME HERE FOR THE FOOD. It's a beach bar, aka slurp down beers and frozen drinks but save the, you know, life sustaining stuff for somewhere else. Why? Well, first, worst tacos of my life. Assembly required...tasteless, cold shell. Insanely over cooked fish. Bland, no spice salsa. My fiancé had a salad...couldn't finish it. So we got apps...shame on us for being fooled a second time. But the decor, service, drink selection and views are great! So stick to where Gumbo Limbo excels and ignore the front of the menu...it will help the wallet too. I'm usually going to the Naples Pier to spend a day at the beach or Wiggins Pass or even Doggy Beach but rarely to Vanderbilt Beach. Not sure why, but today I gave it a try. The beach is nice and I was reading just close to Gumbo Limbo. I decided to try it. Sometime I'm going to the Dusk lounge which is a gem but never tried that one. I have to say that I was really impressed, this is a perfect location with view on the beach. The prices are low, the staff is really nice, fast and it's very clean. The real thing is that any seat you take will have a view on the beach which is perfect. I think this is going to become my go to spot for a wine glass and a nice sunset! read more

Happy hour...is a pleasantry virtually nonexistent a la Gumbo. Yes, I checked behind my seat, under the menu, and I even peeked behind the bar. Couldn't find it. Beers of any sort were $8, mixed drinks (well liquor) something around $12, anything premium...$14 and counting. Now, given this is the only place in the general beach area to get a drink literal feet from the sand and the Ritz is right behind it...I understanding the NYC pricing model. It is a wonderful retreat from the sun / escape from a random storm, and we enjoyed our $115 happy hour for two that seemed to materialize out of nowhere...but we DID have a cooler of beers just 77 feet to our south. Come here to enjoy a fancy sunset-laiden drink, but be prepared to pay for it. Come enjoy some bites, but be tactful in your selection. While the burgers flying out looked good, we opted for coconut shrimp - super crunchy but rather tough, kinda small, and very $18. I'm happy to come here any day of the week to enjoy an ice cold Anchor Steam from a chair when electricity is jumping out of the clouds trying to find me and/or the sun is trying to burn a hole in my leg...but if you're looking for something a little more "happy hour" - refer back to your cooler or try one of the places back towards the parking garage. read more

Came here with a party of 7. First of all we didn't know it was located in the Ritz hotel. Once we got into the hotel we asked a staff member how to get to the restaurant and he should have known all the entrances were closed. We ended up going to all three entrances before reaching the hostess. The hostess couldn't push two tables together due to covid restrictions so we had to wait for a table to fit a party of 7. Which we couldn't understand why they couldn't put two tables together but whatever. We were there around 4pm and boy was it super hot. They didn't have fans where they sat us and we were melting lol. FYI this restaurant is definitely a 3 money sign it's super expensive. I believe we paid $350 just my grouper sandwich was $32 and it wasn't even worth $32 just a basic sandwich. We will not be coming back. The only positive was our waiter who was very nice. read more

I have such unbelievably fond memories of Gumbo Limbo. Is it the food? The view of the gulf? The Ritz Carlton setting? The frozen drinks that always taste better by the sand? All of it. The restaurant itself is situated along a wooden walkway with tables lined up along the way. An unconventional set up that seems to work in this situation. Gives it a casual, we're trying to be local flavor feel even though you just walked through the gorgeous Ritz and by their multiple pools to get here. With tall tables and high chairs, they place you up to give you a view of the beach. At night the sunset is spectacular and with the torches at night -- marvelous. (pay attention to turtle season -- no lights at night by the beach per the law. Gotta give those little sea turtles a chance!) The food is a little bit above average. But that's not why people come here. But don't worry. You won't leave hungry. There's always something there on the menu you will like. If there's a wait, you can walk down to the beach with frozen drink in hand. And yes, we were complete tourists and kept the plastic cups the drinks came in. My kids love em. After dinner or lunch, take a casual stroll down the beach. Ahhhhh. It's the little things that make this place magical and a favorite when we come down here. Is it pricey? You bet. Perfect! The setting, in a mangrove swamp, with a boardwalk down to the beach. Tiki torches burning at night. Just magical. The service is great, friendly, and relaxed. And the food was excellent. My seared yellowfin tuna with coconut rice and haricot verts with green curry was just perfectly cooked and delicious. At one point, I upset a water glass and splashed an inch of water all over my BF's entree. Without us awking, the staff removed the ruined dinner, and shortly returned with a replacement piece.
