Its good food but the owner is always grumpy and checking if you gave a tip. No tips for counter service! Raise your prices if you need more revenue. But dont guilt your customer into giving tips :-( Also when you pay the extra for eatinging it here rather then to go. You will still eat from the cardboad box. read more

Big portions and tasty flavors! We ordered the salmon tagaliatella, spaghettini, and spaghettini with meatballs, plus some garlic bread. Everything tasted amazing and we had left overs we couldn't save because our hotel didn't have a fridge. There were 3 of us, but couldn't finish. Definitely will come back again! read more

We weren't in this town for very long, stopped by on our return back to LA from Pismo Beach a quick lunch. Nice staff and fairly quick turnaround. The menu had your solid casual Italian options. There were a couple outdoor dining seats and not much of a lunch rush. Both sandwiches were under $10 and generously sized. The bread was good and fresh, as were the ingredients. Even the side salad that came with my sandwich was well dressed. The turkey sandwich was a little dry so I added some of the marinara sauce from my partner's sub - his didn't really need it. Horrible business ethics. The food is mostly mediocre, the salads are good. It is the management that has lost me as a regular customer. In the past couple years it has been small complaints, this time it was the to-go containers breaking apart and leaking in the car, leading to the bag breaking and spilling out. When I called the manager, he explained this happens as the food sloshes around. No compensation was offered, no apology. read more

Trying to find somewhere good and easy to eat out at while during covid is a challenge. I was in town for a couple days and looking for a unique dinner place. This was right on the money. I moved to Camarillo from Capistrano Beach 3 1/2 years ago. Of all the lovely restaurants down there, Guichos is the one I miss the most! I was so excited to be in Carpinteria and see my favorite restaurant! Unfortunately, it was closed when I was there but I will definitely be going back! Guichos is upscale takeout. My must-haves are their lentil soup and their garlic bread. The lentil soup is not the tradional thick, blended type. Instead, it is a broth with lentils and diced aromatic vegetables. So delicious and so healthy. It will cure any cold! Garlic bread is small baguette slices, garlic, oil and Parmesan - nothing unusual, but perfectly balanced. Their salads and specials, like Chicken Piccata and Chicken Marsala, are all delicious. Highly recommended! read more

Edible and sometimes very enjoyable but what you would expect from fast food pasta and sandwiches. I really don't want to neg this place (because, like I said, it's got great employees and it's not really bad.) But it's only just okay. I have had three visits here and I find the food okay and the prices are pretty good, too. But there's something missing. The reviews saying this is the best food in Carpinteria are either misguided, shill reviews or people who haven't left the Carp boundaries in their entire lives. I'm glad I found this place on Yelp. I've spent a lot of time in the Carpinteria area and I was running out of places to try . It looked to me like this place just opened when I visited and they were trying to get their groove worked out. The pasta dish I had was cooked to perfection with their house sauce thats really good. Compliments to the chef! Tried this takeout place on a perfect sunny day in Carpinteria - my kids and I ate outside the establishment - they have picnic tables set up for you to eat your food. My girls had the penne in marinara sauce - delish! They shared since the portion was well sized. I tried the fettuccine and it was on point - it was still piping hot when served (so be careful - it was served in a takeout box). The sauce combined with sherry wine was rich and creamy (it could have had one or two more shrimps) and the fettuccine was perfectly cooked. Will return - soon! read more

Okay. Slam on the breaks. I saw pictures and reviews putting Italian food in boxes and serving it faster then a roadside grill slings burgers. Now a little background I am very, and I mean very picky when it comes to Italian food. I've been spoiled by family and restaurants in Italy. Now to the brass tax of Guicho. I don't know what I was expecting coming to a place labeled fresh Italian take out, but with some good words from coworkers and enticing looking pictures, I gave it a try. Fusilli, garlic bread, and Tiramisu were on the menu for me this evening. I can not say that I have ever been sad to finish a meal. Until tonight. The fresh in the title is. It just for show. This place serves the best ingredients, cooked to perfection. This isn't my grandmas eggplant but holy COW. I was surprised around every bite! If you get the Fusilli, get an extra side of garlic bread to get that broth in all it's delicious garlic glory. Trust me. And wrapped it all up with that Misu, light, creamy, with the every bitter bit of coffee with the sweet of the cream. And the price?! You can't go to any sit down restaurant and get s meal like this for even close to the price. I loved it so much I even ordered a plate, or box to go for my lunch this evening. So I was traveling through on the 101 and I came across this gem. I asked the guy what he preferred between the chicken sandwich and the Italian sub. He told me the chicken sandwich is his favorite so I ordered it. It was DELICIOUS! It was just the perfect size, in regards that it did not make me too full or still hungry. It came with a green salad with balsamic dressing and that was equally tasty. But what made the sandwich just that much better was that the bread was fresh warm and hot which was the icing on the cake. Staff was very friendly, the young brunette who gave me my food came over and asked how everything was. It's little things that make something great. Attention to detail. Don't go here until they get organized! I waited 25 minutes for a steak sandwich. There were 12 people in back and I am fortunately all 12 were served before me. Had to ask the Young clerk twice where my sandwich was. When I stared at him he finally got a steak sandwich and brought it over to me and I asked him if all steak sandwiches take 25 minutes to get served. He said, "all those people were phone orders, sorry." What he doesn't know is that I gave those people my menu so they can order after me. Newer Italian theme eatery in Carpinteria that has not disappointed in our first several visits. Excellent freshness in the soups and salads. Sandwiches have been terrific with their house made sausage an excellent choice. Will continue to explore their menu offerings. Portions are good size and could be shared.
