A friend and I stopped in here for a quick bite before heading out of town since we were both craving Italian. I ordered the meatball sandwich, which was about 8 inches, give or take, and couldn't pass up the creme brûlée (my absolute favorite dessert). The meatballs were perfectly seasoned for my taste, the bread was soft yet perfectly toasted at the same time, and it had just the right amount of cheese and marinara. The creme brûlée was also surprisingly good for an order-at-the-counter type eatery, but could've been slightly bigger for the price. My only complaints are that a good fountain soda would make the dining experience more enjoyable than the canned sodas they offered and the person whom I assume was either the manager or owner seemed to be chewing out one of the employees in view of the customers, waiving his finger in her face. They were loud enough that the tone came across stern and frustrated, but not loud enough for us to hear what was being said. Either way, that should be done in a different manner and definitely out of view of the customers. All-in-all, I would return for the food if I were in the area because it hit the spot, but if I saw that type of behavior a second time, it'd probably cause me to not want to return. VEGAN EATERS HERE. Referred to Guicho's by a neighboring shop owner and were not disappointed. Very attractive Industrial Modern decor, super clean and welcoming (more later),staff quick and knowledgeable. Ambitious menu with a huge array of pastas, salads and sandwiches, all easily workable for "us" (more later). Ordered a chopped salad that would shame the classic at La Scala in Beverly Hills, loaded with obviously hand chopped, fresh ingredients, all the same size which gives a better mouthful and mouthfeel along with one of their housemade dressings that was actually wonderful. My mate had a grilled eggplant/zucchini/spinach and oven roasted tomato sandwich, which she swooned over. I didn't taste as she had mozzarella on it. They have two locations in San Clemente and, after visiting with Jim Donahue, one of the jovial and easy going owners, Carp won't be the last location. Good work and Good Luck Guys! My notes: try for a little but more non-animal protein choices, even tofu roasted when you do the tomatoes would go a long way. Also, judging by how others were shuffling fast to snap up one of the few tables rather than dangling from bar stools and wall facing counters, my guess is that some should be replaced with additional tables which would also make stylish Guico's even more comfortable. read more

I use to love this place but the customer service and the owner was so unprofessional and rude I don't think my family will be back! This is the 3rd interaction that was lack of communication and lack of accountability on their part . I doubt they care if they loose my business .. on one occasion we ordered huge Catered amounts of pasta but it comes with no bread and no one told us that so we could order bread but was made to feel like it was our fault the 2nd was I went in for a Togo order and the owner insisted I did not order there and aggressively even turned the computer around and said see no order did your to the right place ? I said yes I confirmed the location and I said I payed over the phone and he said well that's why ?! No apology and he said it with a curt , rudeness. 3rd I called and asked for a chopped salad and asked if I could add shrimp and she said that would be extra and I said no problem. Then there was one shrimp on my salad and called back to ask about it and he said you told her you wanted one individual shrimp?! Be For real !!!! That's completely ridiculous. One bad day I understand but 3 rude incidents in a row no thanks ! Is it really that hard to say my mistake we have your order here the oversight was because you payed over the phone ? And I never said can I ADD "A shrimp " ? Or just so you know if you order from the catering menu bread is not included so would you like to order bread ? Your 200 order does not include bread . We just picked up Guicho's for takeout tonight. We ordered their lasagna, arugula salad, and pesto fusilli. Our lasagna, strangely, had no noodles in it. It was just an unpalatable amount of cheese. The fusilli was okay, under-seasoned, and heavy on the cream. The arugula salad, while hard to mess up, was the only redeemable part of the meal. And my husband highly recommended this place, since he had tried the one in San Clemente We ordered for take out, the tortellini, the jumbo ravioli, the fettuccine and the fusilli with pesto. Arrived at the hotel and everyone opened their own ordered. First I noticed that my fusilli didn't had the creamy pesto,and I was looking for the pine nuts..... Instead, I see a creamy red sauce, mushrooms, and chunks of sausage. So I gave it a tried, still waiting for the pesto flavor.... Although the pasta was excellent, that was not my ordered. The box said the correct order, but instead of pesto, they served fusilli with pork sausage and mushrooms. So my only downfall was not to look inside each box ( they close the boxes without you looking and placed them into plastic bags) And their downfall is not double checking that the order is correct. New Trendy Italian restaurant with a walk up counter serving reasonably priced pizza, pasta, sandwiches and entré salads. So for those who would enjoy a libation with their meal don't go gettn' all crazy when you hear this, they do not serve here..... on the bright side, we were told we could bring our own in, so all was well. There's a liquor store just a few doors down to grab a beer if you didn't know this little tid bit. We ordered the Italian sausage sandwich which came on an amazing authentic French roll, crunchy on the outside and soft and slightly chewy on the inside. The sausage was spicy, but otherwise not very remarkable. They dressed the sandwiches we had, with a muffalato, bell peppers and onions. Unfortunately, the muffalato to me was not a wow and was not an enhancement to the sandwich. Overall the sandwich was dry and nearly tasteless. On the bright side, we also ordered the cheese steak sandwich which was much better. Served with a marinated tri-tip that was tasty and the same dressings as the Italian sausage sandwich. Delicious food! This place is very cute inside but didn't really feel like a "dine in" spot. It's mostly bar type seating facing the wall or facing outside. We walked up and ordered our food and as waited we noticed most people walked in and picked up their food and walked out, so obviously they ordered ahead for pickup. We did dine in and they served us in to go boxes and plastic forks and knives, but would still return for this food. I had the grilled chicken salad, which, okay sounds underwhelming right? Nope! Nothing short of an amazing salad! The chicken was perfectly grilled and the house made dressing was seasoned so well. There was a slight mixup with my order. The young lady charged me for a seafood linguini (no mushrooms) when I actually ordered a seafood fettuccine (no mushrooms).
