Apiary informed us that Luis was here and it's a perfect time to order empanadas. We originally didn't feel the need to order them. But as time went by, and a couple drinks in. I wanted to try some so we ordered 1, 5,8- Corolla, Americana, Portuguese. Luis told us he doesn't feel bad for charging more than others bc he puts more filling than dough. I honestly feel it's worth the price. You get lots of meat and stuffing in that crispy dough. Damn well worth the price. And it's a good size too, when you pick up the empanadas, it has a good weight to it. I was expecting a smaller empanada, but these truly make me feel like it worth the price. Luis has a tricycle he rides to bring you the order, which we thought was cool. My favorite was the Americana bc that gouda flavor was so tasty! read more

Their empanadas are soooo good. The dough is thin and the inside is filled to the brim. One of the best empanadas I have ever had. Totally worth the price, three whole ones would totally fill you up. My favorite is number 5 the Americana, it had bacon, smoked gouda and jalapeños....it was so flavorful and cheesy. Number 1 Criolla was my second favorite...mainly because I don't really like raisins in my savory type of food....but I didn't notice it that much. Number 8 Portuguesa was good too, a lot of meat and flavor...just not my favorite. We got this while we were at the Apiary tasting mead and cider. read more

These are the best empanadas I have tried in the area! I had the dulce empanadas and they were my favorite truly sweet and savory. The empanadas are delivered as soon as you send a text asking which ones you want to order. Delivery was quick! I will definitely be back to try the other flavors! read more

We ordered 3 empandadas, chicken, it's was tasty, it had citrus zest to it. The bacon (pork) with jalapeños, and gouda cheese. Oh that had a bite to it, it was very tasty. The tri tip, fell short. I wasn't to impressed with that one. But over all I'm glad we made a stop there and tried there food. The service was great. The ambiance was cute, and simple. read more

Empanadas are amazing! Luis is a character and super friendly!!! Can't recommend this place enough...

While visiting Carp on an unusually rainy weekend and were looking for something cozy and comforting for dinner. Stumbled across this listing and had to try the empanadas! Didn't realize it was only available through Apiary but it ended up being such a cute unexpected date night with a flight and assortment of empanadas. You can tell these are small batch and made with love. Arrived hot and each one was 10/10! It was fun pairing the flavors of the empanadas with the flight and finding favorite combos. We tried 8 different ones, left with half to take home and every single one was incredible! Stand outs for us were the Criolla, Americana, Higo and Roquefort. The chimichurri was also unreal - highly recommend adding to your order. As part of the Apiary - this is a text to order service - you order your drinks, sit down and text for the empanadas - available Fri-Sun. We're in town a handful of times a year and this will definitely be a staple for us! read more

I can't wait to go back to Carpinteria to try some of the other empanadas on the menu. The ones we ordered were so amazing

Best empanadas you can find in Santa Barbara or Ventura... hand made and delivered to you by The Apiary Co. The selection has something for all tastes and cravings. Criolla, ham and cheese, fugazzetta are among my favorites but you cannot go wrong with any of the options. To finish on a sweet note, you have two sweet empanadas to choose from but the alfajores are simple delicious: they are not in the printed menu so consider this a secret menu option :) read more

Absolutely delicious!! Service was great! We tried Roquefort, Americana and the Criollo. My husband likes blue cheese. He was raving about the Roquefort. It paired so well with the Rare earth from the Apiary. I was hesitant to order at first. But I'm so glad I did!! read more

Wonderful empanadas delivered to Apiary! We had the Higo and the Fuguzetta. They were both delicious and I'd order them again any day. Satisfying and gooey. Perfect little bite to enjoy with some of Apiary's hard kombucha. read more

Delicious. You can order from Luis by phone for pickup or in person when the businesses on the little strip are open. The kind of food that's made with heart and intention. Beautiful presentation and wonderful flavors. Buena Onda doesn't even remotely compare. read more

Che is a hidden gem in Carpinteria. The empanadas are made fresh by the owner, Luis, and he will even deliver them to you if you're at any of adjacent businesses grabbing a drink. The menu has a wide variety of empanada options and they are all delicious. They even come in different shapes depending on what combo you get. They also sell their chimichurri for $12 a jar. If you're in Carpinteria and especially if you're at Apiary, Brew Lab or Rincon Mountain Winery, you need to stop and get some empanadas from Che! read more

Very delicious Empanadas this is a must stop on your way to Santa Barbara. Thank you Che!

We come here on our annual pilgrimage to Carpenteria and we love these so much. Luis delivered them to us at the brewery. Thank you!!

Why do I love Carpinteria? Because in the back alley of an industrial park, sandwiched between a commercial truck refurbish site and a Brewery, there is Che. Luis the chef and founder is a superstar. He makes the most delicious, creative empanadas I've ever seen. We enjoyed the Vegana and the Roquefort while sipping on cider from the neighboring business. A fun, delicious, handmade to order street food experience. And if you likie, you can takie home too! He offers frozen To-go options as well as fresh baked. In the words of my husband taking his first bite of the Roquefort "oh my god, this is F*ing incredible. This is insane. Wow" Vegana, super packed with so many veggies. And I highly recommend getting the jar of Chimichurri. It's amazing. read more

Best empanadas in SB county (and yes, I've tried Buena Onda in SB). My favorite is the Americana (Gouda, bacon and jalapeños). I believe they're only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Also, it's next door to BrewLab & Apiary so you eat your empanadas while drinking a beer, cider or mead. read more

Loved these empanadas. We got 3 kinds, the prosciutto, the blue cheese with pecans and the mozzarella with oregano. Everything was so tastey and full of flavor, including the chimichurri. Brought our empanadas over to the brewery next door as a snack to share with our beer flight and it was a perfect pairing. I especially loved the blue cheese empanada, I'm just disappointed I never thought to make something like this myself, I'm inspired! I will go back to try more soon. read more

Che Argentinian Empanadas - Delicious, unique empanadas! - Empanadas Near Me - Carpinteria, California

We have been in the area a couple times to stop at Apiary and today was the first time we have had Che's empanadas. They are located in the same business center, so you can order empanadas to enjoy while you are at BrewLab or Apiary. We texted the number and chef came over to talk to us about the empanadas and brought our food right to us. We ordered the Criolla, jamon y queso, Americana and fugazetta. All four were absolutely delicious! With how crispy the shell was you would swear they were fried but they are baked! Do not be taken back by the contents of the criolla, they marry well together and the zesty chumichurri is a great compliment to all of the empanadas. If we weren't headed to a hotel for the night we would definitely get some frozen to go! Definitely worth a try and you will not be disappointed! read more

The absolute most amazing empanadas! We tried the jamón y queso, Americana and Fugazzeta. Everything was delicious. I especially love the jamón y queso and my husband loved the Americana. I'd also like to mention that our dog went wild for the emPAWnada (dog friendly empanada). The owner is one of the sweetest kind hearted human beings there is. It's so easy to start up a conversation with him and you immediately feel the love and care he puts into his business/ food. Truly a gem of a place in Carpinteria and we'll definitely be coming back often! read more

I love the first Friday's at BrewLab for the music, but keep coming back every month for the empanadas. These aren't like other empanadas around the area, like when you get a bag of chips and half is air. These are stuffed with fresh ingredients from local farms and gardens. Oh ya, and the empanada girl on Friday nights is pretty cute. read more

Every day is a good day for an empanada (or three). Stopped by this place for the first time over the weekend while in Carpinteria. Though not visible from the street, it's adjacent to two brew facilities in the center of a nondescript commercial plaza. The plaza is on the western end of the town and can be accessed right off the southbound 101/Carpinteria Avenue exit. We were at The Apiary, next door, and couldn't help but admire the scent of cooking bacon. Bacon and brews? Sure, why not? The venue is outdoor only, with the ordering counter being right at the doorway of the commercial suite. The gentleman whom had assisted us was very friendly and helpful. He let us know he'd deliver to our table at The Apiary which I felt was quite convenient. We ordered three different empanadas which, as evidenced by the photos, ended up being a total work of art. They were almost too beautiful to eat! Luckily, I was able to snap a quick photo before they were absolutely devoured. Just delicious, and they paired with the mead so well. I will most definitely be back soon to try out some of their other varieties. read more

Che Argentinian Empanadas - Empanada menu and store front - Empanadas Near Me - Carpinteria, California

My fiancé and I stopped by over Memorial Day weekend after hearing great things about Che. After walking around for a bit we finally found the storefront and were immediately greeted by the owner, Luis! He was extremely friendly, took the time to explain each empanada and provided recommendations based on our likes and dislikes. We ended up getting the Jamon y queso (my personal favorite, the criolla (the most traditional Argentinian empanada) and the fugazzeta. That day, Luis was the only one working, so he was extremely busy, but we loved that he still took the time to chat with us in between taking and delivering orders. Excellent food, excellent service and we definitely will be back next time we are in Carpinteria!! read more

Luis is a true artist - his empanadas could be served (and loved) in the finest restaurants anywhere. He's also interesting and generous. I enjoyed too many at the (very excellent) apiary next door - he delivers. I told Luis he should raise his prices, which sell short the painstaking labor, extreme talent, and great passion behind them. Wow. Luis makes me regret some of the five star reviews I've given too cheaply, because his handiwork stands far above the "normal" five star review. Wow. Thanks to my wonderful son-in-law for introducing me to this exceptional experience! This will be one of my first stops on my next trip to SoCal. read more

Carpinteria's best kept secret. Hands down. Only open on Thurs, Fri, and Saturday nights - this place serves the BEST empanadas in Carp and (likely) SB. Vegan and Vegetarian options are also available. It's fun to show up every Friday because there's a new "Friday Special" and you never know what it'll be, but you can be sure it's delicious. Personally, I like to order the Americana (bacon, jalapenos, and smoked gouda) along with the Jamon y Queso (prosciutto and fontina) and then finish with the Dulce for dessert. They have 8 different empanadas. Try one of each and find out which is your favorite. Ask them about the minis! You can order a mini version instead of committing to a regular sized empanada. These are great when you want to try a variety or share with friends. OHH and life hack: order some frozen To-Go and you can bake them yourself at home. I've done this for dinner parties and they're always a hit! Bon Appetit. read more

The empanadas here are pretty good. Ham and cheese, Roquefort, portuguesa, and Higo are standouts. The pricing has just become outrageous. Even worse they do not give chimichurri with the empanadas any more. The only option is to buy a whole jar of it. That's like McDonalds not giving away free ketchup but asking you to buy a whole bottle of ketchup to go with your fries. If you want to overpay and get nickel and dimed on condiments then this is your spot. read more

Luis makes incredible empanadas and is the sweetest man ever. After a day at the beach, call ahead and order up some savory or sweet DELICIOUS empanadas to cap the day off perfectly. Our favorite recipes are the spicy Americana, Criolla, Jamon y Queso, Fugazetta, y Portuguesa! read more
