Ordered from this food truck at a San Diego 4th of July festival and the service and food were both pretty bad. Not only did they say the wait was 45 mins and it ended up being an hour and a half but the staff were quite snippy and rude when I checked on my order status a couple times. To top it off, the empanadas were soggy, especially the corn one - do not order that! I know it was a very busy night but they just did not handle it well. Cut off your orders/close the line down if you can't keep up with demand. read more

I normally don't have time to write reviews, yet really felt I needed to here. I ordered from the Passion Empanadas food truck at a Halloween event a couple days ago and couldn't believe my eyes when reading the menu - $16 for two empanadas?! Are you kidding me?? The price might have been justifiable if the empanadas were out of this world but they were not - they were burnt (see pic) and one of them had a HUMAN HAIR embedded in its crust which I could clearly see at night without proper lighting. I tried to pull out the hair but it was pretty stuck and not going anywhere. I really regret spending money on this overpriced food and wish I had chosen another food truck to eat. read more

I wish I knew about Passion Empanadas sooner because they are amazing! The owners are so friendly and nice! You can only order a dozen or more when ordering them, but you will want to get every flavor so the dozen is a great way to do so. We tried every flavor and enjoyed each one. We definitely had our favorites which were: - Chicken Escabeche - Mushroom - Ground Beef - Chicken Shawarma The empanadas are $4 each. They are freshly baked when you order. If you order on a Monday, you get 3 free empanadas when you buy a dozen. They also offered me free delivery. The empanadas are very flavorful and each one is distinct from the other. The spices, herbs, and ingredients used are unique and gourmet. The dough is really soft, but slightly crunchy on the edges. Everything tastes fresh. Please be advised that this is a food truck. I started following their account on Instagram where they post their locations/events. Fortunately, I caught one of their posts in time and we ventured out to the Ventura Historical Farm to give their empanadas a try. The prices were a bit crazy. We spent about $50 for six empanadas (with a small side of chips and coleslaw) and a small margarita pizza. The coleslaw was light and refreshing. The pizza was tasty. But, the empanadas were outstanding! They tasted like homemade with love empanadas. The crust was soft and perfectly cooked, the fillings were rich and flavorful, without being over seasoned. For me, this justified the drive and the cost as I felt like we were enjoying quality food truck food. My two kids and I not only appreciated the food, but also the adventure. Service was friendly, and we enjoyed our meal at the adjacent park. It was a beautiful way to spend our afternoon. read more

We have eaten empanadas from this business a couple of times. They had their food truck parked at Made West on Donlon in Ventura, CA. We had the shawarma and tri tip empanadas. The crust is delicious and the filling is full of flavor. They are well made. They also make pizza. The pizzas are baked in a pan. The crust is on the thicker side but crispy and evenly baked. I had the pepperoni and sausage. Great flavor throughout. From the toppings, sauce, cheese and crust. What a find!! Authentic, fresh, and they deliver. We are so lucky to have them here as our family has had to drive pretty far for fresh authentic Empanadas. So many fun flavors (check their Instagram-shawarma, tri-tip). My kids' favorites were chicken and beef. Vegetarian favorite was spinach and cheese). Had the pleasure of trying the pizza and empanadas tonight. How to convey the deliciousness... the pizza crust was fresh and light, the sauce and pepperoni were amazing. We had the chicken shawarma and spinach and ricotta empanadas and both were so flavorful with a surprising spice combination unlike anything I've tasted. They had a house made chimichurri and a spicy mustard that were both out of this world. Had the food truck at Topa Topa and it was a great experience. Went up to the truck with delicate food allergies and the accommodations were unreal. I have never experienced thoughtfulness from a food truck. Incredibly genuine and creative pizza! (Onion and dairy allergies). My family wanted to try this out, and since we were a big group, we ordered many and we were so glad we did. We finished them all in one sitting. We each had 6 or 7 of them, who knows. These empanadas were out of this world, and the chimichurri, don't even get me started! We got the following: 1. Beef empanadas (Argentinian classic): organic ground beef, green olives, onions, and boiled eggs. 2. Chicken empanadas: roasted chicken, red and green bell peppers, onions, green olives, and white wine. 3. Veggie empanadas: eggplant, zucchini, squash, leek, green peas, and peeled tomatoes. 4. Chimichurri: raw homemade Argentinian green chimichurri salsa made of parsley, garlic, oregano, hot pepper, olive oil, and vinegar. Everything was so tasty and extremely fresh. I've never had empanadas this good. We will definitely be ordering more soon, but this time, we will try more flavors and bigger quantities.
