Cubana Torta
Kourtney B.

Oh it's been a hot minute since I've been to Liberty Public Market and there are some new stalls that I'm super excited to try. I could wait to write a review until I've eaten more off this menu but no, it must be said now. An update and another star will most likely follow soon because when one finds a good sandwich how are you supposed to not order it again? The one sandwich I had was definitely worth 4 stars all on its own. Maybe even 5 stars if I'm honest but I'll see how the chicken is first. I'm still thinking about this one sandwich 6 days later. Why? Pork be magical like that. The sandwich I'm referring to? The Cubana Torta. She was beautiful. The roll was toasty. The roasted pork was tender and succulent. The ham was, well, it was the thin-sliced ham you know and should love. Same goes for the swiss. Like the cheese is there but it isn't meant to be the star. The fattiness (delicious fat) from the pork was cut through by the mustard and pickles. I confess I had been drinking beforehand and maybe there was a salsa verde tucked in there like the menu said buuuut I don't know. Mentally I was still singing American Pie in my peach bourbon smash summer haze. Maybe salsa verde, but maybe not. Either way it was delicious like any good Cuban sandwich should be. Pork pork pork pork. Order yourself one! Or be like me and take a bite and moan, wonder why you bought bao buns for your dinner (oh yeah, because they are also tasty) and thank your partner for being sweet enough to share his sandwich with you. The man is a saint who let me eat several bites. You might not be so lucky. Treat yourself to your own Cubana!

Interesting little hole in the wall place found in the Liberty Station markey area. The tortas are pretty highly priced for how much food you get but flavorful in the end. I feel like this place is lacking true diversity on their menu besides a few basic torta options. If the menu was expanded I think this place would be a great go-to.

I normally cannot finish a whole torta but this was good, the flavors meshed well and the customer service was very inviting, welcoming and friendly. As you can see it seems very clean and colorful with quite a few options. Would definitely go back and try other items!

Chicken Sandwich

Got the Chicken Sandwich here which was good! It had a generous amount of contents in the sandwich, the only thing was that the chicken was SO big that it didn't flatten like a torta and it was hard to eat. Otherwise, pretty good torta!

Yesterday, Jan 13, 2021 a few friends of mine had lunch take-out for the first time at Tortas El Chapulin. Two of us had the grilled cheese and one had the Chicken Milanesa. Those sandwiches were outstanding!!! In fact that was the BEST grilled cheese I have ever had!! The thick pieces of bread were grilled to a beautiful golden color. Creamy multiple types of cheeses were so delicious and the bread had salt and pepper in it. The Chicken Milanesa had such flavor and paired well with the thin bread. We will certainly return!

Taste: mediocre. GI issues afterward: TERRIBLE! Wanted to give them a shot but so many better options in the market.

Here's a polished version:…read more We absolutely loved our sandwiches from this place. I had what I can confidently call the best pastrami sandwich of my life -- perfectly made and incredibly generous in size. The potato salad was also excellent. Prices are on the higher side, but the portions are so substantial that my sandwich easily covered both lunch and dinner. Honestly, great value when you look at it that way. Highly recommend!

My bf and I split two sandwiches here, and they were both extremely disappointing…read more The #1 barely had any turkey on it, and there was one strip of bacon in the entire sandwich that seemed like it wasn't even cooked. The #12 barely had any pastrami...like 3 small pieces on the entire sandwich, the pepperoncinis were so old & dry and you couldn't even chew them - both of us had to spit them out, pretty gnarly. Thought the menu sounded great, and we'd rather give this place our business than a big chain...but unf we won't be back. $16 each for sandwiches that were mostly shredded lettuce and bread! I'm so sad to leave this review! But also mad that we paid $30+ when we could have made these sandwiches better ourselves. I feel ripped off. The pics here on yelp make the sandwiches look packed with ingredients, and very fresh - that's not actually what you get! Save your money and go somewhere else.

Stopped there on the way back from the airport and didn't expect the sandwiches to be so effing good. So worth it. Pro tip: call in your order if you're coming right around lunch time otherwise be prepared to wait a good 20 mins for your sammy. A few seats outside if you want to enjoy it nice and fresh. Absolute legend status -- Chris's Liquors & Deli in Ocean Beach…read moreIf you know, you KNOW. We've eaten here three times this week... and we've only been in town two days. That should tell you everything. The Harpoon -- pastrami piled high on an onion roll with extra horseradish -- is not just a sandwich, it's a spiritual experience. First bite hits like a freight train of flavor and suddenly all your life decisions make sense. Perfect salt, perfect heat, perfect stack. Whoever's back there building these things deserves a medal. This spot is pure OB energy -- fast, friendly, zero nonsense, and the kind of place where you walk in hungry and walk out plotting your next visit before you even hit the door. They don't just make sandwiches... they make addictions. As someone running BLING EM RIM REPAIR doing mobile wheel repair in Ocean Beach, I'm bouncing job to job all day fixing curb rash and keeping luxury wheels dialed -- and this is hands-down the fuel stop that keeps the engine running. If you see the wheel repair van outside, you already know I'm inside grabbing another Harpoon. Chris's Liquors & Deli -- you're dangerous in the best way possible. Keep slinging greatness. Bite them up, bro.

The person helping us was very informative and helpful with making our decision on what we wanted. We went ahead and decided to get the "111" and the "19" (check out menu below to see exactly what we got.) Grabbed 2 bags of chips and ended up getting those for free since it was our first time in. Super nice gesture! Waited about 6-7 minutes for our sandwiches to be ready, which is incredible time if you ask me. Went back to the crib and opened up to the most delicious looking sandwiches ever. Took one bite and I stood up waving my finger at the sandwich saying, "BEST SANDWICH EVER!." Mind you, me, TBG (The Big Gorger), ordered the 111 and thought that was the best, took a bite of Ms Gorgers and stood up again and said, "NOW THAT IS THE BEST SANDWICH!." These were the best tasting sandwiches ever. Everything was so tasteful. The cranberry jam on the number 19 mixed with the sriracha sauce, wow who would have thought about that idea. Ike's has now became my go to sandwich spot. Shoutout to Andrew and Alex who were working there during our visit. Amazing job Ike's! Best, TBG (The Big Gorger)

I got the Tony Hawk and M. got the Jaymee Sirewich - both on Dutch Crunch Bread. They were both delicious as always. There are a good amount of tables for dining in, and in the warmer months, there are usually tables on the sidewalk for dining outside. Plenty of parking in the large parking lot.
