The space is cute and clean, and there was a line when we got there but it moved quickly. Our cashier Anna was so sweet and helpful. She guided me to try the hazelnut twist over the almond croissant bc the almond croissant does not have almond paste in it. I asked if the organic coffee was also mold free (iykyk) and she could not confirm but said it was good so I got a black drip coffee as well. I got a bread bowl bc I'm only in town for a couple hours, and I got a slice of sourdough with jam and butter. They also sell dog biscuits and beer/wine so if you want to have a little euro moment you can. My drip coffee, slice of bread, small loaf, and hazelnut twist with tip (she was so nice) was nearly $30. That is the positives, minus the price. I was really shocked by what unfolded. These items that were already baked took 20 minutes to prepare. Twenty. Including the drip coffee. I asked the server if she could check on my order after 15 minutes of waiting, and she told me they get a lot of large online orders and they prioritize those and that's probably why my order is delayed. (...?????) So with this extra time, I'm showing them my receipt so they can see what I ordered. That's when I realize they charged me $1.25 for butter. Butter. To go with the bread. Extra charge. I also saw that they charged me a "5% supplemental fee" coming to $1.18. Small numbers, but what on earth?? So I asked about these charges and they said you only get one side with the bread and the second side is à la carte, ok annoying but I get it. The cashier should have told me. The second supplemental fee the manager-esque person told me that it was there to keep the business going, but that she could remove it. To keep the business going?? That's why you set prices, not add on a percentage fee. And if it can be removed so easily, why not remove it for everyone else?? Absolutely insane. Had to leave for work, so I did not receive a refund. I get to the car and look in the bag and MY EXTRA A AL CARTE BUTTER IS NOT THERE. They charged me extra for a side I did not even receive. I had an amazing sandwich! I ordered the Turkey Cobb Sandwich on the sliced sourdough. The bread was incredibly fresh and tasty. Whoever thought to put a Cobb salad on a sandwich was genius. The bacon with freshly cooked just right. The Gorgonzola cheese was the perfect addition to this sandwich. The sandwich is large. Smaller appetites may want to share. My daughter visited Con Pane when she had friends in town from North Carolina. She loved it so much that she took her sister another time and then me last week. I got the turkey Cobb sandwich on the rosemary bread. It was delicious. I might add picked red onion to have more contrast with the blue cheese/gorgonzola. Came here for brunch on our staycation. Although we've been here several times, but it was more than a decade ago. During that time, the restaurant had changed very little, if at all. We ordered a turkey club sandwich, grilled cheese and tomato soup, and a chocolate hazelnut brioche to share. For drinks, we ordered a hot chocolate and an Americano. The sandwiches were both good, the highlight being the fresh bread. The grilled cheese went well with the somewhat pricey soup ($10 for small bowl). They go out so quickly! Please note that there's a separate line you can stand in if you are just grabbing baked goods. For our first visit here we grabbed the following: *Cinnamon bun (plain) - an absolute must! There's an option for a raisin-based one too *Croissant - it was a delightful surprise to discover the croissants were visibly salted and to a degree that was surprisingly delicious *Plain loaf - one of the largest ones and few remaining loaves of bread that remained. They can slice it for you to take home *two drip coffees and house lemonade The staff brought us our order in person with utensils packed in the bag which we were grateful for. Thank you all so much! I dined at Vintana, another Cohn restaurant, where I learned about Cohn's loyalty club, which I joined, then received $10 off at any Cohn-establishment. What a deal! The menu offers many mouth-watering choices of mostly sandwiches and pastries, but I opted to buy a loaf of their artisan multi-grain bread to take home. Tender crumb, yet hearty, it was delicious, and I was glad that I had asked for it to be sliced, as I enjoyed several slices on the way home. Put in the freezer at home, this substantial loaf lasted me 2 weeks, it was so large. Next time, I'll stay for lunch, or buy a picnic take out box. Accommodating service. A few months ago, I mentioned some miscommunication about their Dutch Crunch bread, my absolute favorite. After two Saturdays in a row where it wasn't available, we stopped going weekly, even though we still loved everything they made. Today, my husband came home and told me about an unexpected interaction with the general manager, Dania, and it honestly meant a lot. My husband didn't approach anyone, yet the GM recognized him, came over, and kindly explained exactly what happened during those weeks. It turns out it really was a perfect storm, some internal communication issues and then a batch that didn't meet their standards, so they chose not to sell it. That level of pride and transparency says everything. We're all human, and things happen, but how a business responds matters. Con pane handled it with honesty, kindness, and genuine care. If I could give them a million stars, I would. Their Dutch Crunch is back (and as amazing as ever), and my appreciation for their team is higher than ever. The pairing of a hot Americano with a cinnamon roll is a go-to for me. It is a way for me to determine if this is a place I would visit again. I walked into Con Pane with the plan of ordering an Americano and doing some work. When I saw the cinnamon roll I had to go for it. Busy vibe, obviously a popular place as the line was long but it went quickly. When I ordered my cinnamon roll I was asked if I wanted the one with raisins. Not sure how I feel about that. It almost feels blasphemous but I will reserve my judgment until I return and try this potential abomination. You never know, I may be converted. Outside seating was pleasant as it was a beautiful sunny day. The Americano was fine. I would give it a 6.5 out of 10. I'm not against bitter coffee but there is a limit. The cinnamon roll did not disappoint. Warm with a good balance of firmness and gooeyness. I do like the middle of the cinnamon roll to be extra gooey, just on the edge of raw. This one was consistent all the way through. The icing was just sweet enough. It did not make me seek out insulin. 8.5 out of 10. Will I come back? Definitely. I get that this place literally translates to "with bread".... And I love my carbs, but they are really not doing themselves any favors by having literally nothing else on the menu. I ordered the half sized portion of the "almost grilled cheese" sandwich and asked for a bit of jam on the side. The sandwich had nice flavor with the melted brie and Gorgonzola, but the cheese to bread ratio was really off in my opinion. Would've absolutely slayed with a cup or bowl of some sort of soup on the side or a small salad. My man got a half roast beef sandwich that looked good but quite basic. It also had a large amount of red onions on it, which was a bit of overkill. So basically, after eating bread with more bread for lunch, which I love, I went home and was automatically already hungry and had to make myself something additional to eat. I'll know for next time this isn't really a place for me that I get a meal, it would be more like a coffee and a pastry spot. We also went for the cinnamon roll that was highly recommended by the girls working at the counter. That was super tasty. The cappuccinos are nice. They use Cafe Moto, I always love it when they use one of the local roasters. The ambience was just OK for me. The place is very busy and being fast casual. I appreciated that they came around, offering to bus our table throughout the meal, but it kind of came off like they were trying to rush us out of there. Today I stopped by for a quick coffee and pastry. My usual the hazelnut twist was not in stock today, so I tried an almond brioche that was not very good and I was pretty sad about it as I've always had good things to eat here. My usual iced coffee was overly sweet too, which it usually isn't and I feel like I spent a lot of money for sub par food and coffee. Especially for the almond brioche. I actually felt sick from the sweetness and couldn't finish either one. I hope it was just a bad day. Like I said in an earlier review, bakery is the theme this summer! Looking for a new place to walk, I didn't realize how big the park was at Liberty Station. And this bakery/cafe is right there! After Cako and I finished our walk, I went in and started ordering! I ordered a cinnamon roll, plain croissant, chocolate croissant, dark chocolate cookie, apricot ginger scone, and a loaf of the rosemary olive oil bread. Oh and the pesto foccacia and the tomato foccacia. Everything was really good! Especially that rosemary bread! The interior is large but a bit cozy and they have a great outdoor patio that I'm sure Cako would like. The only issue I had was the line for bread and pastry. The girl was working alone and not only rang you up but went and got your order too. I had to deduct a star because she forgot my apricot ginger scone, and since I live far away, I wasn't going to go back for it. Above and beyond. I had a presentation and needed to feed 65 people and wanted to feed them a hot breakfast. I put in an order for their delicious egg danishes one vegetarian and one with bacon. The night before not knowing how I would heat up the food. I asked if the kitchen could heat up the danishes before I picked them up. Even though Con Pane usually doesn't do hot catering. Good thing I bought my bread this morning because they were already out of sourdough boules and baguettes. We split a whole Italian Salami sandwich on sourdough and a bag of chips. Even though they cut the sandwich in half, our halves could've been cut in half again. That is how huge the sandwiches were!
