I first discovered David and the Sourdough and Moore name at the Mission Valley farmers market. His bagels, small loafs and regular loafs are all delicious. They have a great crust and are soft and chewy on the inside. I've gotten the spicy jalapeño habanero cheddar, rosemary garlic, roasted garlic, caramelized onion, original - you really can't go wrong with any choice. Already a big fan of his breads, I love the addition of pastry options at the storefront. The cinnamon roll is huge and fluffy and filling. This time I decide to try one of the sandwiches, which was on a sourdough baguette. I was really excited for the one I picked (the Sicilian, which had eggplant, turkey and other yummy fixings ) only to be sorely disappointed when I opened it later to find out they had given me the wrong sandwich despite being rung up for the one I had asked for. I'm sure an honest mistake, but a reminder to check your order before you leave! Otherwise, a great place. It does get busy on the weekends. Like others have said, it's delicious but be prepared to spend a penny! It's worth it!
No line around 11 am on a Fri, and plenty of breads and pastries remained in this small storefront. We chose the parm & artichoke small loaf, the lemon herb large loaf, an apple cider donut and a giant peach cobbler cinnamon roll. The rosemary lemon sourdough had an assertive flavor whereas the parm/artichoke mini loaf was rather bland and could have benefited from a more pronounced tang. The cinnamon roll was loaded with sweet icing as well as peach and cinnamon flavor - it was fairly moist. The donut was decent, not really memorable.
Daddy-daughter breakfast dates are becoming a tradition, and this spot was a W!! My daughter grabbed the strawberry split croissant and that thing was MASSIVE crispy on the outside, soft and dense inside, and she was loving every bite. I went with the OG sourdough cinnamon roll. I took it home, threw it in the air fryer... LORD HAVE MERCY!!! Crispy edges, warm center, and everyone in the family kept sneaking bites. I should've bought two. The shop is tucked away in OB, wasn't too busy when we went, had plenty of parking, and the service was awesome. If you're a sourdough fan or just want a legit pastry, don't sleep on this place!!
Came here for the first time to see if it was worth the hype. In summation: all solid and tasty but oof be prepared to pay a pretty penny. We went on a Saturday around 10am. There was a line but it went by pretty fast. Don't think we waited more than 10 minutes. On the way in are shelves that feature some of their baked items you can take home such as focaccia and bread loaves (small and large which is cool as I haven't seen mini versions elsewhere). They also had premade sandwiches and baguettes in the case up front along with their baked goods. From bagels, croissants, donuts, etc looks like they had a bit of everything. We tried their chocolate chip cookie (6 dollars) first. This was my least favorite as it's super decadent and sweet. Every bite I had I thought I was biting into chocolate not cookie dough sprinkled with chocolate. Not my favorite type (but that's just preference) but chocolate lovers will adore this. Then we got gluten free brown apple cider doughnuts (5 for one). This was my favorite thing we got. Ooey gooey and very flavorful, although small. We also got one of their cinnamon rolls as I was told it was one of the best ones in SD. You can ask for them to warm it up for you so I highly recommend doing that. It was HUGE, fluffy, and tasty. The frosting was REALLY sweet so you should definitely share this with 2+ people. Was it the best I've had in SD? No but it was hella good and top 5. We also got a loaf of their sourdough bread. We asked them to cut it and they did that which was great. The exterior was a bit crunchy and the inside was dense but on the softer side. We enjoyed it with sandwiches as it had structure but if you want super soft and fluffy go with a different option. But my favorite was the focaccia we got. Fluffy. Savory. Sweet. Olive oil-y but not too oily. 15/10. I started to wonder what I could make to compliment it instead of it being a compliment to a main dish. The interior is super small with only a few tables. They have utensils over the trash can so I think this place is meant for a grab and go to the beach type of joint. It's OB so that's the right vibe. It looks like at one point they did coffees but it was crossed out when we went. It's on the main drag so there is parking but as the day wears on note that that becomes more time consuming. I'll def be back for the focaccia and maybe a loaf of bread but the portion sizes (and super sweet tooth-y-ness) and the fact that everything is expensive as hell may mean that's all I get on my return.

For a small household, these are absolutely perfect and the best way to get your bread fix without knowing you're going to waste half the loaf. I'm so glad they transitioned to a brick and mortar location in OB that's popping! They still serve up their classic sourdough loaves in all sizes. I love the variety of flavors and that they also make the loaves of all sizes in the various flavors as well! Beyond the sourdough loaves, they are serving up some mega delicious sweet treats! At this point, you've had to have seen the viral cinnamon rolls. These giant cinnamon rolls are so delicious! Each bite is moist, soft and perfect! Great frosting to roll ratio. They also have a whole spread of other sweets like croissants, cookies, banana bread and babka. Everything is excellent! They also sell coffee drinks with some indoor seating available to enjoy. Well worth the visit!
Met a friend here to catch up and was pleasantly surprised there wasn't a massive line after reading all the reviews. Service wasn't the best not much of a warm welcome. The cashier was pretty much going through the motions. I ordered the breakfast tile. I thought they would have warmed it up when I ordered it or even offered to warm it up but nope just shoved it in the bag and moved on to the next person. Kinda disappointing. The tile itself was good. I enjoyed the sweet and saltiness of the ingredients. The sharp cheddar was a nice addition, it would have been nice melted a bit. The space itself has a small sitting area and a couple tables in the side walk. Overall nice spot to check out but the pricing and service isn't worth it for me.
OK second visit to this brick & mortar store today. They open at 7 AM, we got there at 6:55 AM and there was already a line of people! That's how you know when something is truly legit. Getting here early is definitely worth it. They had such a huge variety of pastries and breads, so much more than on my last visit. I still think it's crazy that they were running out of everything before noon but I guess now I see why, when they've already got a line at the door before they open. We just got a couple of standard sourdough flavors, but the variety of pastries available blew my mind. I'm trying to cut out simple sugar for the next couple weeks, but as soon as I am eating pastries again, I will be there at the crack of dawn. That raspberry and white chocolate, scone, the guava and cheese pastry, and the Caprese pastry tile were all singing to me.

He was running their bread tent, and his counterpart was running their bagel tent. Both were so sweet,, and when I asked about their story, they couldn't help but get excited and want to share about their journey. As for the goodies, we ended up trying their ube sourdough bagel (yes! They use REAL ube) and rosemary garlic sourdough bread. Ube sourdough bagel - I wish I could capture this scent in a candle. It was surprisingly fragrant with those coconut, vanilla notes but not overpowering. Rosemary garlic sourdough loaf - I mean how can you go wrong with this combo. Very fragrant as well, nice sturdy crust, soft interior ... delicious! The only thing I wish they had at the farmers markets were their cinnamon rolls. I'd love to see a sourdough cinnamon roll!
All I'm sayin is that as advertised, this place has great sourdough bread. I'm a big fan of making sandwiches, and sourdough bread is hard to beat when making them, went to this place yesterday and I gotta say it didn't disappoint, there is such a wide selection of different sourdough bread here which surprised me, and was such a cool thing to see, I personally got the lemon seasoned one and it was a banger choice, if you want some quality sourdough bread this is a top choice place.
Literally the best sourdough bread I've had in San Diego. You have to order the Rosemary Lemon Zest sourdough loaf; it goes with everything. My other favorite is the Dark Chocolate Walnut loaf. Warm it up and put some peanut butter and/or banana on it; you'll thank me later. The coffee is not great, but the bread and pastries are so good that it doesn't matter. Get to the storefront early; a line builds quickly and they sell out fast.
I read Sourdough & Moore had a 100 year old starter and was interested in tasting it. There is a good variety of baked items to choose from. Rosemary Lemon Zest Sourdough Bread had an interesting combination of flavors. I liked the outer crust which was harder than Hawaiian bread but not as hard as a baguette. It contrasted with the silky insides. A really good bread. Butter croissant had a thin crunchy outer layer and silky smooth inside. Loved the buttery flavor. Baguette was quite different than the French baguettes I'm use to. The crust didn't have a crunchy layer and the flavor was light sourdough. Very tasty. Sea salt bagel is the first sourdough bagel I've had. Texture was dense like other bagels I've tried. The sourdough flavor with the light sea salt combined to result in one of the best bagels I've had. This is my favorite treat here so far. Small round sourdough had the same delicious flavor as the baguette. I do prefer the crust of the baguette. Staff was nice and efficient. In the old days my mom and brother would take me fishing off the Ocean Beach Pier a couple blocks away. Sadly the pier is closed and scheduled for replacement. Would have been great if Sourdough & Moore was around back then.
Talk about consistency!!! This bakery has it all...exceptional baked goods from their signature sourdough loaves to cookies just the BEST food for the soul! Every item is watched over by well trained sous chefs. The line moves efficiently and with a smile! It's a small cafe space but taking items home or to sit at the beach and enjoy with an espresso drink is a mini vacation all by yourself! Prices are so fair for what you get! Ocean Beach is fortunate to have David Moore the owner living close by and so are we!!
I completely understand the hype that is Sourdough & Moore. Before my AM workout, I came to Sourdough & Moore, I had seen that there were really long lines but I was actually really lucky. The cafe just opened and I was probably within the first 10 people in the cafe. I was a little taken a back on the costs, especially in OB but I thought it was worth it. I ended up ordering the original cinnamon roll, chocolate babka and ham and cheese croissant, my total was a little over $30 but was it worth it yes. My husband and I didn't get to try the pastries until after I got back from the gym and it was the perfect little morning treat. The ham and cheese croissant was perfectly flaky and butter so good, the chocolate babka was tender and not too sweet, I really appreciate that. The star was definitely the cinnamon roll, my husband is the center kind of guy and I a definitely the outer kinda girl so it was really easy to share. I definitely want to try the carrot cake version, I love carrot cake but their OG cinnamon roll is the best I have ever had! Definitely would come back, I would suggest coming really early in the morning when there is ample parking and less of a line.

Sourdough & More in OB was such a fun find! We tried the tikka masala pastry, and it was easily the standout. The savory tikka masala filling inside the flaky pastry was such a unique combination and seriously delicious. Definitely something I'd order again. We also grabbed a cheddar jalapeño sourdough loaf to take home. I love that they have more interesting options beyond a traditional sourdough loaf, and cheddar jalapeño is always a win in my book. Next time I'll try the caramelized onion. If you're in OB and love fresh bread and savory pastries, this is absolutely worth popping into. My advice: don't leave without trying one of their unique pastries! read more
Tried Sourdough and Moore for the first time at the Mission Valley Farmers Market. Pros: -they have a variety of breads and bread sizes. I bought two loafs and they were delicious -the customer in front of me in line also told me that their cinnamon rolls are tasty so I bought one and she was not wrong. I got the sausage breakfast sandwich on a jalapeño bagel. I will say I was not expecting it to be like an andouille sausage but more like a breakfast sausage. It was very messy to eat. I ended up separating it and eating it in pieces with a fork. I also got the brown butter cookie. That was delicious. The staff is always so nice. It's street parking in downtown OB and there's always a line but they're worth both of those things. And super dog friendly which I really appreciate read more

I tried the chocolate chip peanut butter cookie today and it is one of my favorite cookies in San Diego and I consider myself a Cookie Monster (it's my dessert of choice) So my top suggestions are the jalapeno cheddar sourdough, cookies and pistachio croissant read more

Ugh really wanted to try this place but two things threw me off. The smell and the fly in the bakery item case:( if the smell is off and doesn't smell like a bakery then walk away. Also items didn't look fresh, probably a day old. Sorry to say I left without trying anything. read more
I found this spot on Instagram and, as a big sourdough lover (and with a husband who will never say no to a cinnamon roll), we decided to check it out on a Sunday morning. I had read that their cinnamon rolls sell out fast, so we got there around 8:30am. There was already a line, but it moved pretty quickly--we waited about 15 minutes or so. The space itself is cozy with limited seating. It seems like most people grab their food to go, but we lucked out and snagged a table. We ordered the cinnamon roll (of course), an apple cider donut, and an everything bagel sandwich with egg and bacon. We also grabbed a sprouted spelt sourdough loaf to take home. First thing to note: everything here is BIG. The cinnamon roll was massive (and priced accordingly at $11). My husband loved it, and while I enjoyed a few bites, it was a bit too sweet for me personally. The everything bagel itself was really good--nice chew, soft and slightly gooey inside--but the sandwich had very little bacon. At $14, it didn't feel worth it. I'd rather just grab their $4 bagels and make my own sandwich at home. The apple cider donut was just okay. Again, a bit too sweet for my taste, and the texture leaned slightly wet rather than fluffy. Overall, if you like large, indulgent pastries, this place will probably hit the spot. I personally prefer smaller portions at a lower price point since I rarely finish pastries this big. That said, I'd definitely come back to try their pistachio croissant and pick up some bagels to enjoy at home. read more
Sourdough & Moore is an independent bakery that opened in the heart of the OB neighborhood across from Target. Parking on Newport Ave can be hit or miss depending on the time of the day. I ended up curbside next to the library and walked over from about a block away. I believe the suite they took over had been empty for at least a year. Inside seating was limited to a couple of small round tables and two countertops, one along a wall and one next to the front windows. By the time I arrived, a significant portion of the daily inventory had already been sold as evident by the empty shelves and less than full display cases next to the service counter. A menu board hung on the wall behind the counter. Tape was marked across the coffee offerings because their machine was out of order. While I was in line, a customer ahead of me purchased the last remaining Kougin Amman which was unfortunate. I settled on a Paris Classic Sandwich and a White Chocolate Blueberry Danish. The sandwich was made with ham, cheese, and a pat of cold butter in between a sourdough baguette. The addition of butter was a classic French touch which was why the product had such a name. It provided a creamy texture to the sandwich. The danish was a laminated pastry finished with powdered sugar on top. The blueberries were large, and the white chocolate made it a very sweet treat. The prices were on par with the nicer bakeries around town. read more
Came here with the wifey Saturday morning, and there was a line. The staff did a good job of getting the orders out quick so we didn't wait too long. The staff here is super nice for being how busy it was. The cinnamon roll was huge it felt like a weighted a pound. It was a little on the pricey side for a cinnamon roll, but it definitely didn't lack of flavor or icing. If you haven't tried this place out, and you're in the area stop by you won't be disappointed. read more
Came at 8am on a Wednesday - no line! Definitely recommend coming on a weekday morning as I passed by on the weekend and the line was around the block. Much easier to find parking near the beach on a weekday morning as well. I got a loaf of sourdough, 3 bagels and 1 cream cheese for about $27, all tasty. Cream cheese flavors include roasted garlic, plain, and chive/green onion. I don't think they have the ability to toast the bagels or cut your bread on site. The bagels are very chewy and the cream cheese side is a stretch for 2 bagels. The sourdough had a very thick crust and I agree was a bit difficult to cut as other reviewers mentioned. It's a very hearty sourdough a little on the dense side. Nice interior with outlets available if you have some time to sit and answer emails in the morning. Did not see a restroom. Will come back to try their pastries. read more
Came here on a Saturday morning and there was a line. The line went pretty quickly. Came here specifically for the Cinnamon Roll and it did not disappoint. They were huge and good. The service was great. The inside was small but clean and bright. I would like to come back and try their other pasties. I love a good sourdough and the rosemary garlic is soooo good! There's so much to choose from, and I highly recommend starting with this. The crust is just right, the inside is flavorful and has a great texture. It's better to go early when there's still a lot to choose from and it's also easier to find parking. read more

This shop is very small, the line often goes out the door but it goes very fast! I came around 10 am on a Saturday and they still had plenty of inventory. Everything here looks amazing. There is minimal seating inside and none outside. This place would not be good for big groups. All the bread they had to offer was so beautiful and looked so delicious! They even had one gluten free option which was their chocolate chip banana bread slice. It was very moist and flavorful, you almost couldn't tell it was gluten free. I also got the butter croissant, spicy jalapeno habanero cheddar sourdough bread loaf, and the cinnamon roll. The butter croissant was so fluffy and had an amazing flavor. I was a sourdough croissant but it didn't have a sour flavor, it was nice and buttery and the flavor of the bread was so good. The spicy jalapeño habanero was spicier than expected, but again the flavor of the bread was amazing and it was so soft. I really want to go back and try all of the different flavors because I was blown away with how good it was. Lastly, the cinnamon roll was very sweet but delicious! They had a very generous amount of cream cheese frosting on top. I will be back to try all of the pastries and bread they have to offer! read more
I came to Sourdough & Moore on the recommendation of my daughter, who had seen it in a Tiktok video. I drove an hour and 20 minutes to get there. I specifically was going there for the cinnamon roll. Very sadly, they had already sold out of the cinnamon rolls by the time i arrived at 9:45am! I was crestfallen. The very kind and warm-hearted worker at the counter shared with me that they sell out of the cinnamon rolls every day by 830 or nine. So, I pass that along to you, dear Reader, with the hope to help you avert the sadness I felt in that moment. But all was not lost! They still had a Dulce de Leche morning bun and a pistachio croissant! I purchased those, and - while not a cinnamon roll (my most favored pastry) - they were delicious! The pastry is both is crispy and flaky, yet inside there is just the right amount of chewiness as well. The dulce de leche bun is downright GOOEY inside! Mmmmmm! The pistachio croissant was incredibly rich, with a touch of honey mixed with the pistachio paste. It hinted at baklava while clearly retaining its identity as a croissant. It was amazing. I came by on a Saturday at around 9. There was a line but it moved pretty quickly - I maybe waited around 15-20 mins. Everything looked super tasty, it was a tough decision! I went with a pistachio croissant, a sea salt bagel, an everything bagel, and cream cheese. The croissant was solid and absolutely massive, easily splittable between 2-3 people. The bagels were pretty good too, just wish they had a slightly cheaper/smaller cream cheese option. I really just wanted one bagel, but ended up getting two just since I felt I had to get my money's worth for the $5 cream cheese...and still had a bunch left after eating the two bagels! read more
The smells coming from this place are incredible. The service was fast and friendly. There was no line which was nice too. I went in specifically for the key lime bar and it was delicious. The flavors were balanced really well. Perfectly tart and sweet all at the same time. My only complaint is the crust was really thick and did not adhere to the filling. The filling was just kind of sitting on top of it which made it hard to get the perfect bite. The crust did have a great graham cracker flavor. It was a little sweet on its own but when paired with the filling it was a perfect balance. read more

My favorite cinnamon roll in san diego so far. I also really enjoy their sourdough bread. There is always street parking that opens up. I went around noon on a Saturday and there was no line. The service is always lack luster and I've had to ask for my pastries warmed up after already requesting it at the cashier. They always seem annoyed but it tastes so much better warm! The parsnip cake was pretty mid. It tastes similar to an average cinnamon forward pastry but doesn't stand out. read more

The cinnamon roll is as good as everyone says! It's not made from sourdough but it is so good. A lottttt of frosting and that's coming from someone who loves treats. 9/10, with a cappuccino it was really nice. read more
From farmers markets to this newly opened shop in Ocean Beach, this bakery offers some of the best freshly baked sourdough breads and moore...owners Dave Moore and co owner baker Emma Gibb have been super busy as their baked goods are a hit with locals and sourdough aficionados. The shop offers a variety of baked goods from savory to sweet, muffins, croissants, cookies and of course breads of all sorts not exclusively sourdough. What makes their sourdough a standout is their 100 year old starter, offering its fermented source to achieve an aromatic taste. After tasting this sourdough, I was convinced and had to have a few to nosh on for my week of homemade tartines. There's about a dozen indoor seating and zero outdoor seating. What's disconcerting, is none of the staff members wore gloves. Even though some used utensils to handle most items, while other staffers did touch some loaves with their bare hands, which to me was not okay...I made sure I didn't purchase the foods touched with bare hands. Would be better if All the staffers wore gloves. The staff are nice, helpful but don't seem to work efficiently as the long line outside moved super slow. As some customers were walking out of the shop, their comments were overheard, saying it wasn't worth the 45 minutes wait. The exterior store front is painted in hues of copper and turquoise created the patina of oxidized copper, which looks cool. This bakery is a welcomed addition to the Ocean Beach community. I love bread. Like actually love it. I'm on this little personal mission to hit all the top bread spots in San Diego and this one was next up. Pretty solid. Definitely has that Ocean Beach vibe--kinda young, kinda crunchy, kinda "I moved here for the lifestyle and now I own three plants and a rescue dog." You know the deal. They're pretty new. Used to see them at farmers markets and now they've got this brick-and-mortar. Showed up around 11am on a Saturday, waited like 20 mins. Line full of people holding matcha like it's a requirement to stand there. They were out of the cinnamon roll (sad) so I grabbed basically everything else: baguette, sourdough, jalapeño cheddar focaccia, croissant, blueberry danish thing, jalapeño cheddar bagel. I always overdo it, whatever. Everyone kept talking about the jamon beurre (the Paris sandwich, 15 bucks), but honestly the baguette and the croissant were the best things I had. Focaccia was just okay--maybe too late in the morning, who knows. The baguette had that nice chew, a little dense inside but in a good way, still moist and flavorful. Took it home and ate it with my fancy Euro butter and honestly... perfection. Great post-beach snack situation. read more
Went back today for the second time and once again left impressed. The first time around I tried a chocolate chip cookie, an apple cider donut, a loaf of sourdough, and a plain bagel with their chive cream cheese. Every single thing was great. This time I went in planning to just grab bagels and somehow walked out with another chocolate chip cookie and a pistachio croissant. No regrets. Everything here is consistently delicious and clearly made with a lot of care. I honestly don't even have suggestions for improvement. The staff is super friendly, and even though there always seems to be a line, it moves quickly and never feels stressful. This place is officially on my regular rotation. read more

There's genuinely nothing I love more than a Sunday morning bagel and treat from sourdough & more! Their food is OUTSTANDING. If you like a sourdough bagel, this is the place for you. The spreads are super light and fresh, too. The line usually wraps around the ace, so make sure you have enough time to stop by. I get loaves, baguettes, cinnamon rolls, bagels, everything! It's incredible. The vibe is cool and the people are kind. Seriously recommend-- they're at the OB farmers market too:) read more
I first became acquainted with Sourdough & Moore at the Mission Valley Farmer's Market at Civita Park, and I am very happy that they have finally opened their brick and mortar. Their sourdough bagels are amazing already, and now adding pastries, such as croissants, cinnamon rolls, buns, donuts, and vanishes to their already extensive line-up of baguettes, loaves, and bagels, they have gone way beyond my expectations. The place offers a few tables and bar stool seating along the wall and window. The service is super friendly. Great sourdough bagels! read more
