The Boss is great for breakfast!

I have driven by a number of times since they've opened, but I kept forgetting that they were there. I'd go to the one in University Heights, even though I live closer to this one. So one evening.... The inside is warm and inviting! The staff is really friendly too! I ordered a chicken pie which is so good! I love the flaky crust! Of course, I also need the mashed potatoes and gravy. I also ordered the kale salad because, you know, you need to keep it healthy! I love the dressing! Since I had kale, I ordered the delicious key lime pie! So good! I also ordered The Boss for the next day for breakfast! There's a nice little patio in front that's dog friendly. This little corner has become very lively. I will definitely be back since parking is a lot easier around here. Next time, I'll bring Cako! But I'm sure she'll approve!

The savory pies have a flaky, golden crust with hearty fillings, and they rotate seasonal flavors which keeps things interesting. They also have sweet pies -- and those are especially good warmed up with a scoop of ice cream on top. Overall, a comforting little spot when you're craving pie, sweet or savory.

My wife is the realest she knows I can't stand for long periods of time and told me you sit this one out champ I'll handle this and handle this she did. I dropped her off and waited for her page to tell me she got the goods I really only wanted two pies from this year's pie day the dfc and the tinola pie but she grabbed the tribute one to round it all off she also got a key lime slice for all her hard work. The dfc was a banger it was cheesy and meaty and out of no where some good spice to kick it off right, but that tinola pie was a work of aft and the calamancy kicked to the next level it put me in a straight food coma and I needed it. When I woke up the next day we tried the tribute and no smut on the tribute pie but you had Mike Tyson and Mayweather vs Ryan Garcia good but those two pies just hit different I can't wait for next year's pie day.

Pot pies were yummy. They were out of dessert pies since it was Pi day but the ice cream and hand pies were good. It's counter service so not much to report there they took our order correctly and handed us our food so they were good. Mostly like a fast food place but pot pies and coffee. Pretty loud and casual but serves its purpose.

    Pop Pie & Stella Jean's

After dinner, we headed to Stella Jean's for some ice cream. The place was packed, and we thought the line we were in was for ice cream, but it was for Pop Pie. We learned that the same owner owns both. We decided to split up and my wife bought some chicken pies to-go for us to try the next day. After a day, we put the pies in the oven at 350 °C for 20 minutes, and they tasted fresh and were abundant with chicken. The crusts were crispy and buttery. We will definitely come back to get some of their other flavors next time.

It was my first time here. I got the steak and something pie. I thought it was going to be really good but honestly it was super plain and nothing special. 3 pies for $42 is kind of crazy. Service was fast and the seating area is small. Would I come back? No. But if you're craving a pie then I guess you can stop and try it out!

Was craving pie during the holidays so we got a mix and match and a whole pumpkin. As a general tip we recommend buying a whole pie. We noticed the individual slices were more on the dry side whereas the full pie crusts were more flavorful (probably because they were fully intact for longer). Their Apple is such a solid choice but special shout out to the seasonal pumpkin. Will return whenever we are craving a pie but more importantly for the holiday seasonal choices! It's South Park so there is only street parking. It's never been an issue for us but please note finding one directly in front is not always the case. Service was fast and friendly.

Traveled far from Miami to try this amazing location. From the smell of pie when you open the door to the delicious options of pie and dessert. The atmosphere was relaxing and chill. The smell of pie will fill your stomach up before you can order. Natalie and Julia were out of this this world. Trust their recommendations. They are the artists of da crust. 10/10 experience and will return.

The first Pop Pie Co. location I tried while in San Diego, located in the South Park neighborhood, and has a Stella Jean's at the same location! The service was fast and the ambiance wasn't bad either. The regular pies were a little disappointing, but the handheld pies were amazing! The guava and cream cheese was my absolute favorite, I wish I had some right now, haha. If you're getting both Stella Jean's and Pop Pie Co., I recommend getting the pies first and the ice cream after (they ice cream is a bit sweeter and the flavors are more bold as well).

I love their key lime pie! Pop Pie Co offers both dessert pies and savory pies, and everything always looks delicious. I came around 9pm on a Saturday and there was no line. Service was good, and there's both indoor and outdoor seating available. It's also conveniently connected to Stella Jean's Ice Cream, which makes it easy to grab a pie and ice cream in one stop.

    Mushroom Leek Quiche

Pop Pie had its official grand opening in South Park/Golden Hill. The shop shares a space with Stella ice cream. Street parking is a challenge. For reference, Pop Pie is sandwiched between Bock and Kindred. Pop Pie Co shops are located at other locations throughout San Diego: University Heights/North Park, Point Loma, Pacific Beach and now here. Currently only indoor seating. The menu offers savory and sweet pies inspired from the country down under, Australia ...specially with the meat pies. I've tried the mushroom and leek quiche and the roasted vegetable curry pie, both delicious in their own way. I prefer less carbs and prefer the quiche. These pies are perfect anytime meal and are quite filling. The shop is new and as expected clean sun organized. You enter and immediately see the display of pies. You order and the pies are heated or not in case you want it togo and heat it yourself at home. Staff were helpful but could have been more cordial and friendly. The South Park area which seems to be developing and growing and Pop Pie Co. shop is a welcomed addition

Pop Pie Company of San Diego continues to expand. Now, in the neighborhood of South Part, they continue to offer their terrific savory and sweet pies, not to mention their tasty quiches and sausage rolls. I had the slice of mushroom & leek quiche, which comes with tender roasted oyster mushrooms, citrus leeks, sun-dried tomatoes, farm eggs, and crème fraiche in their signature buttery crust for $8.50. The quiche was well baked and had nice color. The egg mixture with the ingredients was fluffy and soft. They were tasty y but the mixture could of benefited from a little extra seasoning. The crust was good, with a light crisp exterior, but there was a noticeable thin line of rawness in the crust. Whether that was intentional, I am not sure. The crust tasted good. The service was very easy going and friendly. This location offers a very good amount of inside seating and some on the sidewalk.

Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble (V) - Slice

From the sign outside to the sights and smells upon entering, this is an outstanding place for a sweet treat(s). This is the second time visiting in less than three days....!We came back for a slice of out of this world, strawberry rhubarb crumble pie. Sitting outside and enjoying the afternoon sun was an amazing way to spend our last afternoon in San Diego.

I told my friend the food was worth the wait. After an hour we got sat at the bar and our first server was friendly. There was a transition of servers (not sure if he left for the day or went on lunch) and the new server would check on everyone at the bar except us. My water remained empty for most of the meal. The bartenders in front of us were clearly having a conversation and I didn't want to interrupt. My friend claimed her Irish coffee was sour? And didn't realize cheese came on a side of eggs (she should've checked when she ordered but the server never clarified either). We weren't checked on during the meal until the bill came and by then we just wanted to leave. I ordered the fluffy pancakes and found an egg shell inside. The cracking of eggshells in my mouth made me loose my appetite. We paid (still tipped of course) and left. It was great the first time and mediocre the second time. I prefer consistently in service, especially if I'm waiting an hour to be seated.

We had spent most of the day around Bankers Hill and decided to grab an early dinner at Books & Records. Getting reservations was easy, but from the moment we walked in, the ambiance alone already had us sold. The place was still pretty quiet when we arrived, and to our surprise it was happy hour, so naturally we ordered a bunch of items off the menu along with drinks. Everything was ridiculously good. Not one miss. What really stood out though was the attention to detail. The host brought us a complimentary glass of champagne after hearing we were celebrating our anniversary. Small gesture, big impact. Stuff like that matters. As the night went on, the restaurant filled up, live music started playing, and the whole atmosphere just came alive. Our waiter never rushed us once, which made the experience feel even more intentional and relaxed. We were able to actually enjoy the moment instead of feeling pushed through dinner service. Good food is one thing. Great hospitality is another. This place gave us both. Next time we're in San Diego, we're absolutely making it a point to come back. Lovely spot. Lovely experience.

Cramped and loud, but nicely decorated and serving solid authentic meals. Mexican Latte-9/10: Pretty straightforward. A solid, nostalgic spiced coffee. Mazapan Latte-10/10: A novelty menu item, both nostalgic and tasty. With a sweetened condensed milk rim and mazapan dust, this sweet coffee is a must order. Chilaquiles-10/10: Cocina 35 knows how to throw down the best Mexican breakfast item: the chilaquiles. The Verde was good but didn't pack much heat. The Salsa Secreta was our favorite; a creamy 3-chile salsa with an artichoke flavor, this one packs an enjoyable amount of heat. The Chipotle was another yummy and creamy option, making your nose run but still very enjoyable. Frijoles Puercos-7/10: They were pretty standard. I've definitely had better. They served their purpose as a good side. Concha Rellena-7.5/10: Another creative menu item. Whipped cream and whole strawberries sandwiched between two french toast-style concha halves and drenched in cajeta. It was sweet and warm, but would've been more enjoyable with fresher and/or sliced strawberries. Fun to order, but a regular concha is better suited for enjoying with your coffee. Service-6/10: Again, Cocina 35 gets packed, so service isn't as attentive. Our party had to order and wait for water, ask for refills, call the server over for more orders and again for the bill, and wouldn't speak to us in Spanish. I witnessed other tables be spoken to in Spanish, but upon ordering I'd only be responded to in English. I know I'm a white Mexican, but native tongue is nice when I make it clear I'd like to order in Spanish. Overall, a fun spot with solid menu items. The samplers are pricey but probably the best bang for your buck. They do the classics very well, and are very much worth your visit!
