Don't go here until they get organized! I waited 25 minutes for a steak sandwich. There were 12 people in back and I am fortunately all 12 were served before me. Had to ask the Young clerk twice where my sandwich was. When I stared at him he finally got a steak sandwich and brought it over to me and I asked him if all steak sandwiches take 25 minutes to get served. He said, "all those people were phone orders, sorry." What he doesn't know is that I gave those people my menu so they can order after me. I called and got in the phone this great gentleman that patiently dealt with my low blood sugar/hangry/indecisive type of mood (and two phone calls) and he recommended me a nice salad. Newer Italian theme eatery in Carpinteria that has not disappointed in our first several visits. Excellent freshness in the soups and salads. Sandwiches have been terrific with their house made sausage an excellent choice. Will continue to explore their menu offerings. Portions are good size and could be shared. We are a road trip, picked it due to reviews and photos. I wish I had taken pics of my food, but we ate it to fast. The worst part is we don't live anywhere near here, so that's makes me sad. Best Italian food I have had in a long time. Fusilli pesto with shrimp. Excellent quality and tasting shrimp. The pesto was perfectly flavored, and the bread yummm. Hubby had homemade lasagna, again excellent!! Highly suggest, great prices as well. While we waited for our food we watched this guy almost licking the container, and now we know why! read more

Terrible customer service. Do not arrive within an hour of closing because they will try to hurry you out. Witnessed a glass breaking around my food and they turned defensive about me asking if any got in my food. There are better places in the area with good food and a lot better service. I spoke with the owner and he never returned my call. I will let my family and friends know about my experience. read more

So, we have tried Guichos 3 or 4 times since it opened. Last nite we tried again, only to be disappointed again. The "al dente" or undercooked fetuccini was on me, I forget to ask them to cook until soft. But to have chicken that was very pink in the middle was unacceptable. It made my dog very happy though, she got two orders of chicken to eat! I guess the moral of the story is make sure you ask them to cook your food until it's safe and for us, noodles done so you don't have to use a knife read more

I found this place this morning from my walk from the beach and ate lunch. Ordered the spaghetti and meatballs since is my favorite dish whether filipino style or italian style. Almost everytime a restaurant would disappoint me when i order this dish. This place however have one of the best italian spaghetti I have had. That's why I'm back here right now for dinner. Most of the food here is very good, or maybe that just comes down to personal preference. It has become a family favorite recently as my son has decided their tortellini is better than chicken nuggets (favorite). I would have to agree, I order that almost every time. I came here with my husband and my 5-year-old. It was about 8:00 PM and the first thing they said to me instead of a greeting is that they would be closing in 30 minutes. We looked at the menu and ordered the chicken marsala, and the ravioli three cheese. The chicken marsala came with a side of penne, and that was ok. The ravioli was really bad, acidic sauce and a few overcooked ravioli floating on it. It was more like a soup than anything else. Everywhere else were we dined ordering two dishes to share amongst ourselves is more than enough, but here was barely enough for us. You have to pay beforehand, and the machine asks for tip before you see service. I was going to put a tip in the jar after eating, so I selected no tip. They saw it what I selected and were pretty rude throughout the whole interaction. I don't understand how this place has such great reviews. At least the place was clean. read more

Loved this place!!! I showed up for my cousin's birthday weekend celebration and found this place to eat lunch. I had the italian sub. It was super delicious. The quality of ingredients was high. The bread tasted fresh and was toasted to perfection. Not to dry, just right. My cousin had the meatball sandwich and loved it. It did take a while for them to prepare our orders, but it was well worth it!!! It also looked like they made housemade pasta. I will be back again to try pasta. read more

Wow! We were camping at Carpinteria State Park and walked into town to find something for dinner. Came across Guicho's and decided to get a pasta and salad to share. It was SO delicious! We had the Hearts Of Palm Salad and the Spaghettini With Meatballs. Serving sizes are very generous and the food is fresh and delicious. Honestly one of the best takeout salads I've had in years. The baby lettuces were so fresh and crunchy and I've never had a balsamic vinegar based gorgonzola dressing. Definitely worth checking this place out! It's takeout focused so everything comes in paper containers regardless of eating in or out. There are a good amount of seating areas inside and a few larger tables + a couple high tops outside. You will not be disappointed! They were also very sweet and service was quick. We waited maybe 10-15min and our spaghetti was still piping hot when we got back to the campsite! read more

Excellent food. Sandwiches were delicious. Crunchy crust with light soft bread and the fixings were flavorful and on point. I had the grilled caprese sandwich and it was served with a balsamic vinegar dressing/dip which brought all the flavors together. My kids had pastas (lasagna and tortellini) and bother we're excellent. My girl friend had the meatball sandwich I am pretty sure that's what I am going to get next time. Gauchos is a staple For us. We have them in San Clemente and enjoy the choices for a bit of a cost. But the food is good and easy. The only things that's tough is the outside seating. It's set up in rows and it's difficult to get in and out and while eating you will bump the person behind you. read more

We decided we wanted a nice dinner to celebrate 30 years together. The plan was to pick up something at a Carpinteria restaurant and take it to the beach. We walked the entire Linden stretch and went around the corner perusing menus and debating. Finally we decided on Guicho's. The prices were good and there didn't seem to be too many people. Looks can be deceiving though & we quickly realized they were doing a lot of takeout orders. No problem. We ordered chicken Marsala--Rob's favorite-- and I tried the Italian sub. We took our picnic to the beach, filled with late-day families and seagulls trying out for roles in Hitchcock's The Birds. The food was delicious. The chicken was unlike any chicken Marsala I've had, with tomato in the sauce. But it was good, with a nice rich sauce and lovely penne Alfredo. My sandwich was actually a turkey sandwich with a light layer of salami. The tomatoes and greens were fresh, so I didn't have to peel them off--a rarity for me. The dressing was a light vinaigrette, free of any chemical undertones. The bread was fresh and except for the bites I gave the dog, I ate the entire thing--another rarity. The prices were good. The food fresh and delicious. And it makes a lovely picnic for the beach. Just keep an eye on those seagulls. read more

Staff is always so nice when I come in and their food is delicious! On cold days I always go for their chicken soup. The pesto fusilli is also good but very very creamy. Grilled chicken salad is also an amazing healthy alternative. Similar to Zookers, but more affordable. read more
