Shopping in Hawaii is awesome because of their 4% sales tax. Take advantage of all of the fine shopping along the Kalakaua strip. When the hubbs and I booked our vacation on Valentines day 2008 I made sure our hotel was within walking distance of Gucci :) Customer service is great! We walked in with the intent to buy a purse but we weren't sure which one. I walked in looking for bags from the Queen Collection but instantly had my heart broken when they told me that they discontinued the bags a month ago to make way for the new Summer handbags. What could easy my pain and sorrow? Oooh.. a 3 week old Sukey bag? Wow.. only on the market for 3 weeks and already one of the best selling bags of the season? I must have it! I was greeted by one of the sales associates Jason. He's an angel on earth I tell you! He helped me with all of my needs and even showed me some jewelry that hadn't made its way in the catalogs or online store. Ken and the store manager@ Kalakaua's Gucci store initially refused to process My payment correctly until I spoke to the Ala a Moana Gucci management and took it upon Myself to push the correct buttons on their card reader... I was told by these men that Gucci just started to use these new card readers and they work differently from the old readers so I can not use My debit card without a PIN number... The only problem is I've had the exact card for over 3.5 years and I never had a PIN number assigned to this card. I always processed payment method as credit and signed. No other stores in Hawaii let alone off Kalakaua Ave have ever declined My non pin associated card until this Gucci store did... And I've used this exact card bi annually since 2014 while on holidays here off Kalakaua. The bulk of My family's shopping is done from the shops off Kalakaua and the problem Gucci had is definitely a closed incident... The Kalakaua Gucci literally refused to accept My debit card payment!!! Now the previous night SA Ken was refusing to process payment correctly. Ken kept pushing the Red X which cancels the transaction... My daughter attempted to press the Green O button but Ken rushed to remove the card reader away from her... Stating "that's not how our card reader works..." Now I was planning on paying with split tender card/ cash combo. I had pulled out My cash envelope which consists of three thousand in $100 bills. Ken did see this previously and My daughter and I strongly feel this is what triggered the refusal to process My card payment. He wanted us to pay in Cash!!! Ken stated I need a PIN number to accommodate My debit card because it will not process without a pin. "Do you have another payment method?" I told Ken, "No, I want to pay with My debit card!" The evening ends with My daughter and I leaving empty handed after spending two hours in the store... All because Ken was canceling My payment and not correctly processing it accordingly. The following AM, we were flying home so I rushed to the store@ 10AM to complete My purchases. After contacting the Ala Moana Gucci store manager and understanding there is a credit option on Gucci's card readers, I entered the Kalakaua Gucci. At first, I explained the incident which occurred the evening before to SA Stanley. Stanley was the SA now and he asked his manager to approve the debit card process. Management agreed and Stanley gathered My items, as Stanley totaled the amount a female associate whispered into Stanley's ear and Stanley told Me "we are unable to process your card, do you want to pay with another means?" I immediately state "how can you decline a payment you haven't even processed yet, are you guys refusing to sell to Me, And why are you guys whispering to one another about refusing to sell Me these items?" I demanded the exact manager who only fifteen minutes prior approved to process My payment as credit who is now refusing to honor that accommodation to come out and speak to Me personally... I had the Ala Moana store manager on My cell and she spoke briefly to Kalakaua's manager. Both sales associates Ken and the manager on duty ( I don't recall his name but he wore black rimmed glasses) kept pushing the Red X to cancel payment versus processing with the Green Button. I stated "you're canceling the payment by pressing the X, it's not the card being rejected!" I inserted My card and this time I pushed the Green O, and within three seconds the payment was Approved... They really thought We were uneducated, technologically inferior human beings by attempting to run that scheme on My daughter and I... Intentionally Canceling a transaction and claiming it's their "new system!" You two guys need to be Honest here... New card readers, perhaps but they definitely still process debit/ credit card payments the same as every other card reader I've encountered throughout the U.S... Kalakaua Ave Gucci is the Only store to Ever refuse My payment!!! Seems this "new card reader" works the same as the stores in MN, FL, CA, NV, etc as well as Kalakaua Ave's Moana SurfRider hotel, QuickSilver, Jimmy Choo, Maui Diver's, Neiman Marcus etc... I don't know if they were just using a technical default as an excuse in refusing to sell to My daughter and I or if they were pushing us to pay the entire amount due in cash... Either way it was a dishonest, Unpleasant and very questionable experience but well worth the fight to challenge these two guys on proper payment etiquette. I went in to buy new shoes and thankfully as soon as I walked in I was greeted and smiled at. They asked what I was looking for and I said shoes, and she directed me upstairs. I was helped by Yyvonn. She was very accommodating and thorough. She showed me any shoe I wanted without hesitation and quickly searched for other products for me, and whatever wasn't on the floor she immediately went in the back to check. She was very nice and immensely professional. I brag about my good experience with her and being at the Gucci store to everyone. I prefer the shops on Kalakaua avenue compared to the ones at Ala Moana because the service is much better and it's not as crowded. The store is gigantic and very elegant, I felt bad walking on the carpet and I didn't even wanna sit on the couches because they're so nice. They offer juice, water and champagne in these huge fancy glasses and she refilled it in like 2 seconds for me LOL. Thank you! I'll be back for the next collection. read more

***UPDATE: went in last night to buy a handbag I've had my eye on for weeks. Husband was about to purchase it but needed a bathroom break. Evidently while I was being shown handbags, security was called on him as though he is a pauper trying to steal or take up residence in their bathroom. He told me what had happened and I did NOT get my bag from there. We want to Prada and were treated with dignity and respect. Gucci didn't get my money last night. Never again. Stick to Ala Moana. They're not garbage. Worst customer service -- ever. I have been looking for a pink bag for days and finally found the one. Initially the clerk, Chris was eager to show me two pink bags, but I had to locate my husband as he had gone upstairs. I liked the first bag he showed me. Once my husband returned, Chris was nowhere to be found. We looked for him as we wanted to purchase the bag. Chris had found someone else to help. It was so bad that another clerk came over to help us. Chris had to be paged several times. We could see him blatantly ignoring us (howlies). Finally he comes over and we ask him about another bag and we say we like the first bag he showed me. HE GIVES US HIS CARD to call him. My husband had to say, "No. we want to buy this bag." Haha. He disappears again for 20 minutes with my husbands credit card and has to be paged yet again. We wait and he returns with the bag. Doesn't pull the new bag out of the dust bag per protocol and then rushes us out the door. Ew. I live here and will never recommend THIS shop to anyone. So pilau this store. read more

I had the pleasure of being serviced by Chris. Prior to my arrival, I was in contact with him regarding several potential purchases. He was very helpful and accommodating in meeting my needs, as I made purchases at the Ala Moana location as well. He served my cousin champagne and water. Amazing service period. My SA was Jackie and she was very attentive right when me and my mother came in. The guard and all the other SAs greeted us with a hello and a smile. Jackie asked us if we were looking for anything specifically and we were searching for the Boston bag w the brown leather. She grabbed one from the back for us right away. My mom has a thing about putting small chain purses into larger purses as a wallet because she's just that bougie. She saw a LE chain purse with the snake on it and fell in love with the style of the bag but she hated the snake. Jackie told us that it didn't come without the snake and my mom was incredibly sad. When it came time to give a card, my mom could not for the life of her find her debit card. She searched through her humongous neverfull for her card but t wasn't there. We ate at Duke's earlier and I called to see if it was there. The manager at Duke's had her card and told us to come pick it up. We told Jackie we have to go back to get the card and she was so nice about it. She put the bag on hold and wished us a goodbye along with the other employees. After we got the card, Jackie immediately brought out the bag on hold and told my mom she had something for us. She pulled out the version of the purse my mom wanted (w/o the snake) and my mom was so excited. We purchased both and Jackie came out with the check quickly and handed us a card to write our info on for their system. This has to be the best Gucci store on the planet, and yes I did say planet! I have been to many including Tokyo (Ginza, and Harijuku), Italy (Florence), San Diego, Orange County, and of course here. The staff is always so friendly to me, even with toddler in tow, and don't give me the cold shoulder because I am not Japanese like they do in the Gucci store at Ala Moana. I recently thought I was going to have a falling out with my beloved Gucci as I took a piece of luggage in to get repaired back in September of 2012. They informed me that it was going to take 2-3 months maybe, but I wanted it repaired correctly so I thought I could wait. Well three months later I gave them a call, and they said that it was going to be sent back to them without the repairs being done! They told me that Gucci tried to contact me via email and phone and they could not get ahold of me...which I find appalling since I get all of the Gucci emails from them, and even person calls Irving me down for when they have a sale to view and purchase items before they go on sale. With that being said, I was a ble to speak to the manager and he sent the suitcase back (I'm still wondering if it was ever sent, this is Hawaii after all) and it was fixed without charge. The bad, it took them 5 months, the good, it was free. Even though I can't recommend getting your purse or luggage fixed there without having to wait half a year, I can recommend going and being treated like a queen. Oh they do offer you beer, wine, champagne, water, soda...I guess if it looks like you are going to spend big! They must have my face on some fa recognition software because I feel like I always get special attention there! read more

Love this store! I came in early the other morning and walked in with about 8 other people waiting to go in at 10am. I was going to hit the beach so wasn't really dressed and I thought I would be judged for that but the staff was totally cool. I understand that this is one of the largest Gucci stores in America so you can have a lot of selections to choose from! The new creative director is amazing and you can see all the latest styles with the help from an amazing staff! I observed how they all acknowledge their clients and how they seem so team oriented. They even gave me a drink when I was waiting for my purchase (the cool pursuit slides) to get rung up. The sales lady, gave me information on the new collection and asked if she could contact me in the future to update me on the latest arrivals. For our anniversary, the hubby brought me to Gucc and said he would get me a handbag.... there was a bag I saw but I wanted it in black but it wasn't on the floor... but the sales associate said it was popular in black and that they didn't have it in stock... so I was going to check out the other store.... This was my very first time shopping at Gucci. I was hesitant about purchasing an item, but when people speak of EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE, this store redefined my understanding of customer service. From the moment my fiancé and I walked in, we were greeted and treated fairly & equally as any other customer that was purchasing an item at this specific location. There was one particular person that helped me out in choosing the right product for me. Ken Vu took the time to show us various card holders and explained in detail the differences among them. I never felt pressured nor got a sense of the typical "salesman" mentality in Ken's approach of sells. I asked if he could give me time to think about what item I would get and he kindly agreed and supported my decision saying not to buy from impulsivity. I soon left the store, but as I stepped out, I realized that Ken's high quality customer service and expertise was the reason why I wanted to buy from Gucci. Wow. Some of the best service I've ever received, I bought a pair of high top shoes and some cologne with absolutely no pressure. I was greeted by almost everyone in the store when I walked in , came in looking for a specific watch that I saw online and the rep I forgot what his name was but he was from japan, he was extremely helpful going out of his way to make sure I got what I wanted. Also the girl named tammie Loeffler was very knowledgeable around the type of cologne that would best fit my style. My favorite part of the whole visit was when they brought out some champagne just for me. That topped it off for me and made the experience not only fun but really gave me the true feeling of what a real luxurious store should be like. Gucci on Kalakua is second only to the store in NYC. With two stories of Gucci goods, no one will be disappointed. When I was there late 2006, tax was only 4%, but I heard it was going to increase sometime this year. The Hawaii pricing was awesome being anywhere from 10-15% less than the mainland. Yoshi, our salesman offered impeccable service, but always tried to sell is more than we wanted. Great selection, service, and discounted Hawaii pricing. I typically don't like going into high-end luxury retail boutiques because of bad experiences in the past. Upon entering the Ala Moana Gucci location I was completely ignored while the workers were talking amongst themselves. I had my eyes on a pair of Gucci sneakers that I had seen online and I wanted to see them in person to try them on. Getting no help whatsoever I decided to leave and check out the Waikiki location. I was immediately impressed as the store was immaculate and I felt welcomed by everyone even by the security guard at the front. How refreshing! I had asked one of the associates where the sneakers were and they directed me upstairs. I was extremely indecisive but the sales associate was very patient with me and suggested new styles to try on while I thought about the shoe I had initially come in for. I was even offered a drink by the manager Sanford who was so helpful and made it a lot easier for me to make my decision. FINALLY, I had decided on the classic ace sneaker. When it came time to check out, the sales associate was very thorough and asked for identification which I have learned to appreciate since there are so many cases of people being shady and using fraudulent forms of payment. (Coincidentally I noticed an unsatisfactory yelp review from Ginger which seems to me like it would be a red flag to any business as a honest shopper would know and should know that the boutique would do this in your best interest regardless if you're paying cash or card this ain't a fish market). Oh well that's none of my business however it seems very unlikely just through my personal experience with the wonderful staff. This is one of the biggest Gucci stores and they have HAWAII EXCLUSIVESSSS! *screams like a little girl* The lady that helped me out was suuuper nice and I was so jealous that she had the item that I'm buying in two different colors... why?! There's really no describing why I feel so giddy when I buy designer stuff because I just spent like my life savings and probably have to eat canned foods for the rest of my life (exaggerating.. :P). i think the address is 2118 kalakaua ave but anyways. yoshi was our first sales when we went to this place. he was awesome. always tried his best to sell something to us. emailed us for sales even when we are living in SF. he also said he could hold the item til the next time we go (usually every 3 months) to save on shipping and tax. second time we went it was the supervisor whom helped us. his name was Eisei Thompson. great guy. VERY YOUNG to be a supervisor, but heck, if you deal with him, you'll realize why he is the supervisor. so friendly, so nice. he also served us water and walked us out of the door with our purchase. i'm definitely coming back. one reason because i need my belt to be drilled an extra hole. I was fatter in hawaii from Hakone Buffet when i bought the belt. now i lost weight! =D read more

SATURO is awesome!! I just visited this store a couple days ago and made my first gucci purchase! I called the store a week in advance to ask if they had a bag i was searching for in stock. Saturo was nice enough to hold the bag for me for a week and was so so nice during the entire process. Patient and not over bearing or pushy at all. I don't normally comment or post any yelp reviews but I do come on to yelp to get an idea of places that I'm planning on going. Now with that said I'm going to post a review (possibly my first ever) on Gucci Waikiki, reason being I read a not so flattering post from Ginger. I don't know which Gucci store she went to or if she even got her stores mixed up, but you should be happy that they kept pressing you for your pin number. And for someone to have a debit card for as long as you said you have and NOT have a pin number, something seems a little shady to me. I just went there last week and my experience was as followed: First, this wasn't a planned visit. I was just walking through Waikiki after a day at the beach. So I was dressed in board shorts and a shirt and decided to walk in and see what they had. I was greeted very pleasantly as soon as I stepped in the store. And it wasn't just a "Hello welcome" the guard or sales associate (not sure) commented on my board shorts saying they liked them and that they had the same ones. I asked where their men's shoes were and was directed upstairs. When I got upstairs, I was again greeted by Ken, said I was there to just see what shoes they had. He asked a few questions, I guess to just get an idea of what I was looking for. He showed me a few styles and was very informative of each one. As I was sitting there trying on some of the shoes, the manager happened to walk by and stop to see if things were going OK. Sanford, the manager didn't just ask if I was doing OK and walk on, he stayed and talked to me about the items I was trying on. I remembered his name because he gave me his business card. I was even offered a drink, which I gratefully accepted. When I decided on the shoe I wanted, they rang up my purchase and when I presented my credit card they asked me for my ID, which I thanked them for doing, because of all the fraudulent charges out there. My experience was not only good it was refreshing to see a high-end store treat a local person dressed as I was with the same respect and service they would a visitor dressed in designer clothing. So I would like to say THANK YOU to the staff at Gucci in Waikiki for making my shopping experience there so awesome. Will definitely be back. read more
