It has sentimental value , so i decided to reupholster all 6 chairs. Pono couldn't match the fabric but searched and found something that was very close. He came and repaired all six chairs at a very reasonable price. We had a little bit of communication difficulty in the beginning, but that was speedily resolved. I am so glad that he took the job as others refused to come to our house to pick up the chairs....we would have had to drop them off at their repair shop. The chairs came out beautifully and I am happy with the job, well done.

Unfortunately, the company it was purchased from was no longer in business. I didn't know who to call so I decided to check Yelp by inputting "futon sofa frame repair" and clicked on get estimates. To my surprise I got 5 responses all saying that my frame was repairable which made me quite happy. All had different suggestions based on the pictures I posted in my request. I selected The Leather Doctor Hawai'i because not only could he fix the frame but he could also fix our dining room chairs. He even had connection for getting the backing of our sofa cover and pillows replaced. I definitely made the right choice. A couple days later Pono came to the house to look at the "damage". He said it was definitely repairable. He would glue the original piece together, add a bracket behind it AND put in another "leg" for added support matching the color to the original as much as he could. Looking at our dining chairs he said just the webbing needed replacement as the set was also over 20 years old. The covers were fine. I was very pleased with his honesty as my husband and I thought we needed new cushions, etc. He left saying Thea, his assistant, would be sending me an estimate. The estimate came a few hours later. The best thing about all of this was that we didn't need to scramble to try to rent a truck to bring the items to him as neither we nor our friends own one. Everything would be completed on site. That was definitely a PLUS! Once I agreed to his estimate, Thea called for scheduling. Pono arrived promptly. Very courteous, friendly and respectful. He explained each step he worked. I was impressed that he notched the wood so that the board could easily rest in. It was centered and the tops of both boards matched. It looked like it was meant to be there. While the leg paint dried, Pono worked on our cushions. Again explanations were given as he replaced the webbings. The chairs now are comfortable to sit on and we no longer feel like we're "sinking." My family and I couldn't be happier with the results of his 5 hours of work. When the work was completed Pono cleaned after himself and took our sofa and pillow covers for repairing. Thank you, Pono. You are a gem!!!

(They had plus size options so I was happy about that) The only downside was that the GPS didn't take me to the right place. I had to circle around Ala Moana mall a few times before deciding to just park in the Ala Moana parking lot and walk there (only a 5 minute walk). Other than that, the shop is worth checking out :)

Whether I'm on vacation or business travel its no different. I like to see what the locals in the area have, and maybe find something unique or a must haves. Leather Lace & Lollipops is a cute hole in a wall lingerie store. They had everything from trade ware, to sexy bedroom play. Loved them all. The owner was gracious and kind enough to let me try on items they normally don't allow, which was fine.. since I ended up buying it. They do have hygienic items/protection for the clothing when you try things. The place is cool on its own, had a wide selection of trade items, shoes can be specially ordered. I found this out as someone was picking hers up. Ladies are very comfortable in the store, and will try things on, on the spot! Buy something and get your sexy on. heh!

I had a very disappointing experience consigning with VNTG Honolulu. The owner contacted me…read moredirectly after seeing my furniture listing on Facebook. He said he could sell it for $1,000, and that my estimated payout would be $600. I asked if he needed to inspect the table, before I loaded the car and delivered it over (the shop is 30-45 mins away from where I live). I was told to simply drop it off anytime during business hours. When I arrived, the owner wasn't present and the employees on duty seemed completely unaware of the process. There was no consignment agreement or contract provided at drop-off, which I was told to request from the owner. Despite multiple follow-up messages and phone calls requesting the paperwork (which was requested on 3 separate occasions, providing him my email directly to him twice), I never received anything. Three months later, when the item still hadn't sold, I returned to pick it up. Again, the staff appeared unsure of where the item even was. When they finally located it, it was dusty and clearly had not been displayed on the floor (as confirmed by the employee who retrieved it for me), which explains why there was zero chance it could have sold. I ended up selling the table the same day on Facebook for $500 on my own. Overall, the lack of communication, absence of a contract, confusion among staff, and failure to actually display the item were extremely unprofessional. Based on my experience, I would not consign items here again.

We originally wanted to patronize Cafe VNTG - for iced tea and other beverages. However, after meeting the owner, Alex, we browsed around the hipster shop and admired the wooden tables, vintage sewing machine, authentic hula instruments, reindeer sculptures, centipede sofa, colorful glass platters, useful end tables, Asian chests, whimsical bar stools, etc. I really liked the gentle, cooling cross-breeze of the eclectic open-air space. The classy jazz music added to the artsy, calm vibe! We are grateful to Alex for his hospitality, kindness, and knowledge. His barista was missing, so he had to do double duty! We also appreciate the free parking on the top level of the Kaka'ako Commerce Center (enter from Kawaiaha'o Street) and the modern, clean restroom!
