Keiki 2 Keiki - See Hello Kitty???

Worth the walk! Tourists with kids, this is the way to go! Sure, you could walk to the Ala Mona…read moremall but you're going to spend a ton of money for one toy vs at Keiki 2 Keiki you can let your kids go wild and pick out many things. I was surprised to find that things were priced cheaper than the Once Upon a Child stores we have on the mainland-- particularly the clothes. Speaking of clothes, we found Barbie clothes that normally are $10+ at the store here for only $1.99 new in package! Like new backpacks for like $5.99 and much much more! (loved the $0.99 books). And the quality of the clothing for sale was fantastic for being secondhand-- even the swimsuits. I will say that the store isn't the easiest to navigate (there is A LOT in here) but perhaps that's part of the fun (you could always ask the owner where to locate stuff if you're looking for something in particular). This shop is great way to fill your hotel room with some toys too just incase you have the unfortunate experience of getting sick on vacation or get really badly sunburnt and need a day in (keeps the kiddo happier). Owner was nice too, allowed my daughter to use the restroom. PS If you're a Disney fan there were lots of hidden gems, from Disney pins to Disney purses/packs to jewelry and more!

She's at the age where she changes shoe sizes every couple months and we're not sure she's going to be a Ginger Rogers. The store is somewhat cluttered with lots of great deals. Every square inch is covered with merchandise. The clerk/owner is Aloha friendly and will help you find something. Several other people were shopping for clothes and backpacks. We did find the tap shoes at about a third of the price of new shoes. What was nice is that she could try them on so we could sure they fit right before we bought them. She tried about six pair before we found the perfect fit. (She is a princess, for sure.) We also picked up a gymnastics leotard for her for a couple bucks. The shop has a small shared parking lot with free parking.

I recommend this family-owned store for anyone with children or anyone looking for the perfect…read moregift! The staff is incredibly helpful, especially if you need ideas for different ages. My personal favorite is April, she is one of the owners and I love when she helps me with gift ideas! One of my favorite reasons to support this gem of a store is that many of their items are locally made and sourced. They have the cutest selection of kids' clothing, toys, books, and so much more! My son's current obsession is a kid-friendly cookbook he got there, along with edible finger paints made from different foods--such a genius idea! If you're in Haleʻiwa, this shop is an absolute must-visit. I believe they even offer online shopping! Go follow their instagram!

This review genuinely makes me sad to write. We've visited Tiny Manini every year. It became part…read moreof our family tradition whenever we came to the North Shore. A children's bookstore should feel magical. It should feel like curiosity, discovery, imagination and the joy of finding something unexpected. For years, that's exactly what this place felt like. The people working here used to introduce us to local authors. They'd recommend books we never would have picked up on our own. They'd engage with our family. They'd make the experience feel special. This visit felt like the complete opposite. We arrived shortly before closing with our children. That's on us. We weren't expecting anyone to stay late. We weren't expecting special treatment. We simply wanted to browse for a few minutes and hopefully buy a few books. Instead, we were repeatedly reminded how much time was left. "Can I help you?" "You have about five minutes." "Anything I can help you find?" Over and over again. Not in a warm way. Not in a helpful way. Not in a "let me help you find something before we close" way. In a "please hurry up and leave" way. The saddest part wasn't even what was said. It was what wasn't. Nobody greeted my children. Nobody asked what they liked to read. Nobody pointed them toward a favorite book. Nobody shared a local recommendation. Nobody created even a single moment of wonder inside a children's bookstore. And just like that, the magic disappeared. The irony is that bookstores aren't really selling books anymore. You can buy books anywhere. They're selling atmosphere. They're selling community. They're selling the feeling that wandering through shelves is still worth doing in an age when everything can be ordered online. That's why this visit was so disappointing. The books were still there. The shelves were still there. The store was still there. But the warmth that made the place special seemed completely gone. After years of visiting and happily spending money here, I walked out feeling like my family had overstayed our welcome. For a children's bookstore, that's a surprisingly sad thing to feel. We won't be back. Update after the owner's response: The response mostly proves the problem. My review was never about the exact minute we walked in, whether closing procedures exist or whether the shop prefers to be called a children's retail store instead of a bookstore. Those are technicalities. The issue was hospitality. We came in with our kids ready to buy before leaving the North Shore. Instead, the visit felt managed, rushed and oddly defensive. Explaining the drawer, the folding, the vacuuming and the five minute window may explain the staff's priorities, but it does not change the customer experience. Future customers can decide for themselves. My point is simple: a children's shop should know how to make families feel welcome. This visit did not.

First and foremost, SHOUTOUT TO TITA ARACELI!! The sweetest, most helpful, and real staff member…read moreout there. I came here with a specific design in mind. Most of the shirts here are customized 88 Tee shirts. However, there were also other designs like Snoopy, Punisher, etc. The shirts are organized and categorized by size and each size has a HUGE variety of designs so you really gotta lift the shirts to open and see them. Aside from T-shirts, they have hats, button-up shirts, crop tees, shorts, everything, no matter the size, newborn or adult. The part that shocked me was that I was willing to settle for an oversized male t-shirt. Then, Tita Araceli came up to me without me asking and advised I make it off the shoulder WHICH I did want but didn't know they do it for you, FOR FREE!!! They use their special sharp Japanese scissors from Japan, literally in a special box lmao. She wasn't making ghetto cuts on the shirt. She legit knew what she was doing, stretching the shirt a certain way to get the aesthetic roll-ups, cut it a certain way. I honestly was going to do it myself but I'm so happy Tita Araceli did it!! IF YOU WANT OFF THE SHOULDER, YOU CAN ASK AND NO CHARGER :) I even tried to tip her and she didn't want it, she was just genuinely trying to help. The t-shirt I got was $31. I'm tempted to go back already.
