Carne Asada tacos
Asia K.

If you want authentic tacos then guacamole is the place to go. They use corn tortillas and the carne asada is cooked well with flavor. Everything looks and taste homemade. I never tried cactus before and if you haven't either then you can try cactus here. All I order is tacos so I can only base my recommendation from that. But guacamole is a hidden gem right near the famous Patapsco flea market. Tacos are very reasonable price and are serve with green and red sauce and cucumbers and sautéed scallions. This won't disappoint you.

My friend and I had an amazing experience here. We came for happy hour and found seats at the bar…read more The bar was huge with ample seating as well as it appeared to have plenty of tables for dining. We both got a glass of wine and ordered two small plates to share. After quite a while of waiting for our food, the bartender checked to ask what we had ordered. He had forgotten to put our order through and to apologize, gave us a bit more wine to compensate which was super appreciated. Our dishes came out quickly once they were placed. We had gotten the Beef Empanadas and Dumpling Squash Beignets. The beignets weren't what we were expecting but were delicious. They were fried balls with squash cooked inside - very tasty. The empanadas were just as good with plenty of beef and a great aioli. All around, an amazing first experience here. The ambience was lively and service was great. Food and drink specials were just as amazing. We will definitely be back!

If you lands you at the train tracks, yes that tiny road leads to La Cuchara. Prompt greeting by the host and very attentive service throughout our dining experience. I enjoyed all appetizers (Pintxos) but my absolute favorite was the beef empanada, it was so full of flavor. The tapas potatoes and salad were very tasty too. I had the rainbow trout for entree, for which the cuts were coming up short so they asked if shrimp was ok to add. I enjoyed the flavor of the shrimp, but I think the fish lacked seasoning- it was the only plate I didn't enjoy. Had the Aim to spark cocktail, a very well balanced drink! I'd visit again!

The service was attentive throughout dinner. Servers were always available and kept our glasses topped up with sangria, which was extremely tasty. We also shared oysters Rockefeller, and those were great. I ordered Vieras y Langostinos al Cava, the scallops and jumbo shrimp in Champagne sauce, and really enjoyed it. My partner had Bogavante, Nécora y Langostinos, the lobster, crab, and shrimp combination, and enjoyed hers as well. Another couple in our group shared the Paella a la Valenciana. They loved it, and the portion was huge. The atmosphere was okay, but the food, sangria, and attentive service were the highlights of the evening. Overall, a good experience for our group dinner.

They brought us our complementary Papas Fritas and I don't know how they make them but they are excellent! My husband ordered the chicken and lobster and it was decadent and delicious. I ordered the filet mignon but the steak was not good. It was tough. It seemed to be the end of a fillet loin. I let the waiter know and he sent over the Manager and they promptly made me a brand new steak. It was absolutely delicious. They also sent new fresh hot sides. The manager was extremely kind and said thank you for letting us know. And of course, we had the red sangria with our dinner and a Spanish coffee to finish the meal. Another great special occasion celebrated at Tio Pepe. we will be back soon. The waiter Vani was excellent!!

I did not feel rushed until the desert course was served with the check. The variety of the dishes was fun to experience; each course was very different. Puerto 511 does really well with seafood. My favorites courses were the Ceviche Amazonico and the Tamalito Verde. The flavors were incredible. The Pulpo en su Causa was also a very interesting dish. The combination of ingredients and the inclusion of a cold mashed potato component were both innovative. I was disappointed with the other courses, though. The veal was tough, the lamp chop was tough, and the desert was not very flavorful. The quinoa flan and the passionfruit ice cream did not match very well in flavor or texture. The restaurant building itself was ok. The ambiance did not indicate fine dining to me. The service was not very personable. I would like to come back sometime in a different season, when there is a new menu. But overall, I would say Puerto 511 is definitely a dining experience worth trying.

Came to Boqueria during DC's Winter Restaurant Week and had a great time! It was a good deal too,…read moreand I left so full. Started off with the "Taste of Spain" which included Pan con tomate, Aged manchego, Jamón Ibérico de bellota, and Boquerones con naranja. Since I couldn't eat the latter two, the server said they could double the first two, which was so appreciated. For my first course, I chose the Escalivada (fire-roasted eggplant, red pepper, labne yogurt, fresh herbs, olive oil, served with focaccia) and Croquetas de setas (creamy mushroom croquettes with truffle aioli). The Escalivada was tasty, but more on the tangy side; the bread was more crostini-like than focaccia. The Croquetas were so good: creamy, savory, umami inside and crunchy outside. Next, I got the Zanahorias (spiced baby carrots, sweet and sour reduction, orange honey yogurt, mojo verde, Marcona almonds) and Patatas bravas (crispy potatoes, salsa brava, pimentón, garlic aioli). When I tell you those carrots had me dreaming about them later, I'm not kidding- all of the different flavor combos paired with the perfectly cooked carrots were amazing. The Patatas bravas was pretty classic- crispy potatoes with creamy aioli and tangy tomato sauce. Finally, for dessert, I had the Tarta de naranja (orange olive oil cake, citrus-honey yogurt), and my friend had the Tarta vasca de chocolate (Basque chocolate cheesecake, macerated strawberries, chantilly cream). Both were tasty, but the Tarta de naranja was so good: perfectly dense cake, refreshing citrus, and great contrast with the yogurt. For my drink, I got the Forget-Me-Not refrescante (butterfly pea flower, thyme, honey, lime, ginger beer). Very interesting drink, not sure I'd order again but it was good. Service was great, super willing to accommodate my vegetarian dietary restrictions. Ambiance is really nice, very modern and elegant. Very accessible by metro, just a short walk from the station. 10/10 would recommend!

But anyways Paella was delicious, the flavor profile was super fun. We got the short rib and seafood, and we all preferred seafood as the short rib was a bit heavy. The fish in it was crispy and so good, especially with the green sauce- nice herby and refreshing contrast. The figs were interesting and fun. But not that filling... I did not like the patatas... sauce was good but the potato itself had none of its own seasoning and was tough. Yes crispy but not pillowy inside. The octopus was delicious and super tender. Would come back for seafood paella and charcuterie.
