This was our first time trying Venezuelan street food. I fear that they have spoiled all other restaurants of this type for us, everything was beyond good. The best thing we ate was the Pop Queen Cachapa. (Creamy chicken avocado salad & Venezuelan cheese). It was so flavorful, I will probably order this every time. We stopped in for lunch after wandering around Sound Garden and I'm so glad we did. Everything was delicious and the guy taking orders was the sweetest. It was clean and quiet inside, with outdoor seating options available. Oh - and those sauces! Even if you're a spicy fan, try to get spicy and mild, because that mild sauce is heavenly. I was in the area and decided to stop by. I wanted to try something different and since I've never had an arepa, it felt a good choice. After browsing the menu, the pavilion arepa was the obvious choice for me. It was stuffed with braised beef, fried plantains, black beans, and mozzarella cheese. It tastes just as good as it sounds. I enjoy all of those ingredients individually, and never would have put them all together and stuffed them into a fried pocket. Actually, over stuffed would be a better description. I wanted to beat the traffic, so I took my order to go. There was no way I was gonna even try to eat this like a regular sandwich. It was huge. I threw it in the toaster oven to warm it up and ate it as an open face sandwich with a knife & fork. That way, I was able to evenly distribute the ingredients so I got a a little bit of everything with each bite. It was savory, sweet, crunchy, yummy goodness. Don't forget to use the sauce. I was a little sad that I didn't enjoy these arepas as much. I am a huge arepa fan, and I've had many in my life, but I didn't like these ones. As a native Venezolana this is hands down some of the best Venezuelan food I have found in the DMV area. The Cachapas are a must try for EVERYONE, it's like a sweet corn pancake with cheese and it's the perfect balance of flavors, reminded so perfectly of being back home in my country. I got the "Urbanite" at the Fells Point Market. The good, reasonably priced and good quick service. The beef and spicy sauce was excellent! Good kick and great flavor worked well with cheddar. The corn "pita" was also good. The not so good, because it was a "pita" type sandwich the beef and sauce was just at the top.
