Brazza on Steaks is such a solid place for good Latin American cuisine. The owner seems to be very devoted to the quality of the food and the steaks really could not be any tastier. I do think that a mix of the steak and other dishes is a good balance but it would've been great to have more greens as an option. But then again, this isn't something that is unique to this restaurant alone or the type of cuisine. I would love to watch a great soccer game or other sports event here to root on a local team. I first heard of this place when Yelp sent an email with suggestions on where to eat in the area. Having never had Venezuelan food, I was curious about it. I looked at their menu, then set out to learn about their various entrees. My husband agreed to give it a try. Before going, we settled on trying "Pabellon Criollo" which is considered the Venezuelan national dish. We were here on a Saturday around 5 p.m. and were surprised to see a few large parties dining in. Also, people came in to get their takeout orders. Not sure as to how the ordering worked when dining in, we made our way to their counter. The owner, Carlos, spotted us and got 2 menus. We confirmed that we wanted to dine in. Carlos is very friendly and welcomes customers with a smile. He also was our server. To drink, I had a lemonade while my husband had a can of Coke. We let Carlos know that we were both having the Pabellon Criollo. This dish consists of black beans with a bit of shredded cheese on top, white rice, carne mechado (which was shredded), 2 arepitas (small arepas) and some platanos maduros. When the food came, it was obvious that the platanos were freshly made. Carlos also brought a bottle of brazza sauce (also called "salsa de amor). He told us we could put it on any item we wanted. It's a mild sauce which is mayonnaise based with cilantro. We enjoyed this dish. Everything was mildly seasoned yet still well flavored. Nothing went to waste! Came here during my lunch break. When I walked in, the place was empty - including behind the counter. After a couple minutes the cashier walked out and she was apologetic. The interior is decorated with Venezuelan flags and pictures of food - it made me really hungry. They don't have a drink machine, so either bring your own or order a bottle/can. I ordered a steak sandwich w/ fries and a side of chicharron. Food came out in about 5 minutes. The steak sandwich looks a little empty but all it needs is the steak and their signature green sauce. Steak was very tender and easy to chew, loved it. Chicharron was also good, one half was super crispy and tender but the other was more chewy and not as enjoyable. Fries were just there, no seasoning or anything but they did their job. The chef (or at least, the man who I think is the chef) came out to ask me what I thought of the food and I was happy to tell him it was amazing. This spot is a little out of the way for me, so I probably won't be back soon, but if you live in the area this is definitely a place you want to check out! Great food and friendly staff. read more

The meats are tender and flavorful, and the crispy skin on the pork belly chicharrón sings when you scrape it with a fork. The sides are hearty and massive, with the fried plantains being especially delicious bars of golden delight (I recommend the tomato and onion salad as the perfect side for the chicharrón). There are lots of drink options, too: the papelón is the best limeade for a hot day, and the chicha-criolla vaso is like a milkshake delivered directly from heaven. The absolute star of my heart, though, is the blood sausage. The skin has a delicate snap, the filling is silky in consistency, and the flavor is robust and rich. Add the smallest drop of the hot sauce (ask for it specifically) to change and amplify the flavor into something even more interesting. If you have never tried blood sausage before, Brazza offers an exceptionally palatable way to try it through the homogenous filling, rich spices, and minimal tangy flavor. If you already enjoy blood sausage (I grew up eating boudin), then you should try what I consider the smoothest and most complexly flavored version I've ever eaten. We were having difficulty with their online ordering system (orders kept doubling for some reason), and we ended up calling to place a takeout order. The person on the phone was very friendly and helpful. We placed a pretty big order and everything turned out really well. The steaks had good flavor and the sides (yucca, fries, and plantains) were tasty. Nothing was overcooked or under-seasoned. Unfortunately, they didn't have the blackened beef available which we were really looking forward to try. They said they ran out of it, but it was noon, so I'm not sure if they have a limited supply of it? If you plan to dine-in, it may be good to call ahead to see if they have that menu item available. There were 5 of us, ordered one of the family combo with 2lbs steak, choice of another protein so we picked chorizo and two large sides, fries and the coleslaw. We ordered an extra protein, chicharron so we can try different meats. Everything came out together on one big tray shortly after we ordered and let's just say the tray was empty shortly after too lol! The steak was perfectly seasoned and tender. First the owners are extremely friendly. He made suggestions based on what I was searching for. Second don't let the prices put you off. You get what you pay for, and then some!! Third, the steak was as good, if not better, than some of the best steakhouses I've even been to. The meat was tender enough to cut with a butter knife and seasoned to perfection . He has two sauces that you can put on the meats which are both excellent but the food has such extraordinary taste that is almost a crime to use the sauces. Do not let the location give you pause the restaurant is clean and comfortable. We almost didn't stop but I'm damn happy we did, and the next time I'm in the area I will definitely return. Next time I get a hankering for a good steak it would be worth the 3hr drive to come get it from these excellent cooks. Location/ Ambiance - 4/5- It in a busy shopping center but with plenty of parking. Walking in I would never expect the place to be known for serving steak. It had a good number of tables but nothing fancy but at least it clean. Food - 5/5 -=The Steak here is precut to big thick chunk. Yes, it cooks nicely and went you cut it so nice moist but not wet. One bite and you can't stop. I ate it with a side of rice and mushroom. Even the white sauce is amazing. i would definitely come back. We found plenty of parking available as they opened 11am Saturday. YMMV        My brother let me know about this place after it recently popped up in his Google feed. Having routinely ventured to try churrascas over the years, this Venezuelan steakhouse was no exception and bumped up our list immediately. We had an idea of what to order thanks to the site's menu and online/review pictures. After talking with Carlos, we certainly both added and modified some things.... The order, each served on wooden platters as received:     - Venezuelan Sampler (as a first timer, a must) - 4 Mini Empanadas (flavorful variety of empanadas; possibly modifiable) - Tequenones (think better mozzarella sticks) - Cubanzueal Sandwich (so good you might order one to go, too) - Brazza "Steaks" Special (cut-with-your-fork sirloin w/modestly fried yuca and plantains) - Pabellon Criollo (excellent dish to enjoy as a meal or share as a sampler) - Venezuelan Cinnamon Roll (off menu and tastes unlike any roll you've ever had) Each item was brought out seemingly as it was made, staggered and not all at once thankfully. Fried/prepared items were hot and we were informed so with dining suggestions graciously shared: dip this with that, add this to this, etc.. Speaking of dipping, that Brazza sauce. Man, this sh*t right here. You could literally add that to ANYTHING and up the umami level. What has me smiling as I type this is how everything tasted both homemade and of quality. This feeling really hit early in our order as soon as I tried the arepita. It was a "WTF", eyes widen, tooth grin kinda feeling. From the varying versions of fried cheese(s) and a meticulously prepared sirloin to a cinnamon roll like you've never tasted, there wasn't one item I wouldn't recommend, all were standouts in their own right. While I've been to South America, I've yet to visit Venezuela and until then, I'm happy Brazza's here to make me want to expedite my trip planning. Highly recommended. This is a tough review to write because while the portions and presentation of the food was underwhelming the taste of the food was overwhelmingly better than expected based upon the prior factors, ::SIGH:: I totally expected a larger portion than what was delivered for $24 (and that's not including the delivery charge + tip) and the initial impression of the steak based upon visuals was that it was over cooked shoe leather (see pics). The taste though of most of the food, was the polar opposite of this, specifically the steak itself when paired with the green sauce and the "tomato and onion salad" (which initially looked like pico de gallo). Those items actually tasted PHENOMENAL. The "pineapple" coleslaw on the other hand was truly just a commercially made coleslaw with no trace of pineapple. Came here with a bunch of friends and they were able to accommodate us by calling ahead. The owner came by to explain the menu which was very helpful. Started with tequenos, and they are awesome. make sure to ask for the hot house sauce, it's amazing. Ended up splitting a combo for 2 with pork loin, pork belly, fried yuca, and rice beans. All the sides were excellent and the yuca was some of the best I've ever had. Both pork pieces were fried hard; maybe a little too hard as the pork loin became a little tough. The steak had great flavor, but unfortunately, ours was overcooked. A little tough and pretty well done. They don't ask what temperature you like, but others at our table got medium, so little disappointing. Service was good and food was paced nicely. This was a delicious endeavor. I stumbled upon this place taking my mom to VSI. It's 2hrs one way from my house and the food was so good, I'd consider driving that distance just to eat here again. Hands down the best pork belly I've ever had, it was done to perfection!! The fat was melty and the belly was crispy. Mouth watering heaven. I was in DC for a convention and discovered this gem. I loved it so. A little Hole in the wall with the most delicious and economical steaks that you can imagine. Caked on a spit over a wood fire the steak comes out looking not the best but do not judge a book by its cover. Brazzas marinade makes their steaks so delicious and tender, and you cut them with a butter knife. I just loved the owner and his family that take great pride in their wonderful Venezuelan cuisine. I had the best plantains that I have ever eaten, delicious rice and a creamy pineapple cole slaw to accompany the main course. I got out of there for under $30 with tip and I was very full. I do not want to get too political, but I was so sad to hear how the new administration has made his business drop 75%. Many of the immigrants that comprised a decent amount of the customer base are frightened to dine out. I grew up in Sterling. Dont make it out this way much anymore. I was driving past sterling last week and saw a sign for this place and it was open. I had already eaten that day so I told myself I would make a trip to Sterling to try this place soon. I stopped here on Monday night, about 7:30 and ordered the steak special. 8oz steak with 2 sides. I was handed my food and I opened the container and what I saw really excited me to try the food. The steak looked incredible. Fries looked good as did the white rice. First I will talk about the sides, because these were the highlight. The fries were hot, fresh and tasty. The white rice, was very warm, fresh tasting and really enjoyed the rice. Now for the steak. It just did not excite me. It did not taste great. It did not taste terrible, but there was something about the steak that threw me off, not sure what it was. I think the taste was from steak that was in the warming pan for a long period of time. You do not get to choose how you would like the steak to be cooked, Its given to you well done and a bad thing about this is, well done is not going to be very juicy to begin with, and after sitting in a warming tray for a while, any juice if any at all is gone. The steak was so dry that the more I chewed it, the drier my mouth got from the steak trying to absorb the moisture from my mouth. This place is not cheap, but its not expensive. $16 for the special and you get a good amount of food. But honestly I think this could be so much more, so much better than what I had. I would rather be asked how I want my steak cooked and wait 10 minutes for it to be cooked. This place is trying to make steak fast food, and it just does not work. This was a slow night. I will come back again, during a busy time and orders the same thing again and hopefully its better. The quality of the steak was good. Not sure what cut they use, but its not very fatty, so really the only way to get steak like this to be tender and great is cook it medium at most. To have this well done and sitting in a warming pan, for who knows how long, lets just say I was so very disappointed. I see all the other reviews are 4 and 5 star reviews and honestly, with my experience with how the steak tasted, I should give this place 2 stars, but again, the concept excites me, the potential tantalizes me, and I and happy to see them open and hope they can make some changes and let the customer order how they want the steak to be cooked. The seasoning was a nice combination of spicy and d sweet and the shell was perfectly fried. The place is not fancy. It's in a strip mall just off of route 7 next to an international grocery. I was craving steak, and this restaurant was both highly rated and affordable based on Yelp reviews, so I decided to give it a shot. I was extremely impressed with the quality of the food and the friendly service!! I had the 1/2 lb steak with 2 sides, and even though they were out of one of my preferred sides, I took the server's suggestion of getting rice & beans as long as he added some cilantro. Everything was cooked perfectly, the meat was so tender I cut it with a butterknife, and the arepitas were crisp on the outside and nearly creamy on the inside. I was concerned the arepitas might be too greasy, but they were not at all saturated or soggy. You should absolutely go here. The location is in a strip mall, and the interior design is not where they've put their money, but the things that matter most - food and service - make up for the simplicity.
