Tried the choros a la chalaca, ceviche (dont remember what type but was made with mahi mahi), and the seco de res. We also asked for a kam lu wantan to go as they were advertising it. Ordered the chicha morada too, which was a great choice. To start with the choros, they were made very well. It had the right about of onions with lime, and it tasted fresh and delicious. The ceviche is the dish i would not order again. It was a little disappointing to go into a peruvian restaurant with a name that implies you would headline yiur ceviche. The sauce they used did not pair well - it was a little heavy and tasteless for us. The sweet potatoes were also slightly undercooked so they did not have the consistency that is expected when eating ceviche. The seco de res delivered where the ceviche didn't. It was delicious and tasted home cooked. I would definitely recommend this dish to someone visiting for the first time. When we decided to order kam lu wantan to go (to eat later at home), we were forewarned that it wouldn't come with arroz chaufa. This seemed odd as that's a key part of the dish and not that hard to make. We still ordered it and found it tasty back home. Not sure if it was because it sat in our fridge until later, but the wontons were soggy and not crispy at all. But the taste was there and surprised us how good it was despite pairing it with white rice. I recommend going to Costa Verde. The highlights of my experience were the food and service. I ordered crispy pork and my girlfriend ordered the ribs, both of which were excellent. Costa Verde is more pricey than restaurants I typically visit, but I feel the quality, quantity, and presentation absolutely met the expectations set by a higher price point. I was also very pleased with the service. Chris, our waiter, did an excellent job. He frequently popped by to refill our waters and check on us, all of our interactions with him enhanced our evening. Additionally, when there was a slight (5 or so minute) delay in my food coming out, the manager stopped by to inform me of the hold-up and offered us a free drink or desert on the house. We visited on Valentines Day, and the decor was excellent. Small balloons decorated the tables, the screens displayed Snoopy by the fireplace in a Valentines Day sweater, and a band was beginning to play as we were leaving. This is a nice new place and I can tell by the clean and well decorated interior! I like how they have large screens on the wall playing TV to watch too. I really enjoyed the steak pasta! It was so flavorful and everything was cooked well. The ceviche with fried calamari was also pretty good! I was not really a fan of the sushi at all... the ratio is really off and has way too much rice. Our waitress was nice and switched out dirty plates in between. The food was good but the meat I got was more bone than actual meat despite it being very pricy, leaving the vast majority of the meal to be beans and rice -- which were good but not $30 good. Total disappointment. I ordered the assorted Ceviche, that includes all the varieties of ceviche in the menu, and none of them was good. Too salty and bitter. My main course was 'Pollo Saltado', and it was bland, the rice was uncooked, the chicken had no taste, it seemed to have been fried separately and thrown in the last minute, the tomato chunks were huge and uncooked. I try to compare with other restaurants every time I go to a Peruvian restaurant. And to find out, it was a big disappointment! The taste wasn't there, the plate is too much color(deep orange color) spicy, I can tell it has too many condiments that's in it. I wasn't happy at all and my husband saw that, he offered his plate to me. I ate 1/4 and the rest I took home for whoever wants to eat it. I know it's their own ingredient, style of cooking, and expertise but the flavor wasn't there!!! Sometimes. "less is more" I know the ambiance is fancy and so the expectation of the customers is high when it comes to food. The plate, plating, and presentation were amazing. I would give this dish 5/10. Honesty I wasn't happy, I was disappointed. Let's talk about the cocktails. We all tried the Chirimoya cocktail "Lima Gris" I am NOT a fan cause all I tasted was the alcohol but all my Peruvian friends loved it. I would probably have enjoyed it if they put more chirimoya where I can taste the chirimoya itself. Last but not least. Desserts!!! We ordered churros. My friends loved it but I had to skip it cause I'm not into sweets. But it does look good. I still recommend this restaurant with my friends. We came to try Costa Verde with high hopes, but sadly, it missed the mark. I always judge a Peruvian restaurant by its ceviche clásico, and this one was overly bitter with ají limo cut in large chunks -- it just didn't feel well balanced. My kids ordered the anticuchos, which came out dry and a bit burned -- not what we expected at all. On top of that, they charged for bottled water, and it seems they don't offer regular tap water and there's a 2% surcharge just for paying with a card. With high prices and a disappointing food experience, I don't see myself returning anytime soon. read more
