Good food, lots and lots of menu choices. A full bar. Super popular. Very good service. Today at 5:00 p.m. every table was taken. They did have a few tables out in front of the restaurant which was nice and shady. Unfortunately I made a couple of choices that didn't agree with my tummy (too greasy). But it's my own fault, there was plenty to choose from. If you like jalapeños they make a fun appetizer called Bottle Caps. Slices of jalapeños deep fried. A bit to spicy for me so I just ate a few. They are served with ranch dressing and they were quite tasty. Hubby and I each ordered a wrap. Also good and a very generous serving and it comes with a few different choices for your side dish. Came to breakfast around 10 am. We were seated immediately. Ordered drinks minute later he was there to take our orders. Food was excellent! I had chicken fried steak, hubby had supreme omelet, granddaughter had eggs Benedict. Everyone enjoyed the food all agreed it was delicious. Susie was our server. Very nice, prompt and courteous. My husband drinks tea like there's no tomorrow and she always had his cup filled. He also had a Bloody Mary, mild with no salt. I tried it and it was just right. I had their coffee. I ordered crispy chicken sandwich with buffalo sticks. It was delicious! The chicken was nice and crispy and the lettuce was fresh and crispy as well. They had this mild hot sauce that was just enough spicy. The buffalo sticks are like thin cut fries similar to Arby's, but better. My husband ordered green chili with eggs. He's a breakfast guy. He says not spicy, so that was good for him. I wanted lunch he wanted breakfast. Best time to go is 11am to noon Saturday and Sunday if you go with someone who wants one or the other. They serve both breakfast and lunch during that time. We wanted to try this place because it won a bunch of 'Best of the Northwest' awards. We knew to expect a diner-like setting but maybe our expectations were too high? I ordered the Southern Fried Chicken plate with mashed potatoes, biscuit, gravy, and vegetables. The chicken and biscuit were ok but the gravy and potatoes had no flavor. My husband ordered the Western burger which I thought was decent. They were pretty busy on a Tuesday with a waitlist and everything. My husband and I have always been pleased with the food and service. Unfortunately, when we went there Sunday morning for breakfast, the food service was very slow. The toast we ordered was served as uncooked bread. The most disappointing part of this visit was the sharp decline in the taste of the Bloody Marys. There was too much vodka and a very bitter taste. We've been to Grumpy's several times since moving to the northwest side of Tucson. They have great menu selections...dinners, sandwiches, nightly specials, and a happy hour! I love the Chili Mac...it's a very generous serving. The meatloaf is good - I'm usually pretty wary if ordering meatloaf because some places just can't get it right - but Grumpy's is good. The one thing I would change is their selection of sides. Green beans would be a good addition. Service is always excellent and prices are reasonable. They have dine in available and it's a comfortable atmosphere. read more

This is a great place to grab a quick bite. They serve old fashion American food. The servers are friendly and make you feel at home. The food comes out quick and it's fresh. They don't make your order until you place it. I had ice tea and the chicken sandwich. Both were delicious. Our food came our as ordered and our drinks never went empty. Love GRUMPYS! We go here frequently. Service is spot on as is the food!! It's always fresh and hot. A great selection of options-- a lot of taste of home selections--meat loaf, spaghetti, sandwiches, GREAT burgers. I haven't had the chance to try the prime rib because every time we go it's all gone. I guess that means it's good!! If you have a chance to try their breakfast burritos they are awesome as well! read more

We will not be doing business here anymore. We came in, seated ourselves per the sign, ordered drinks, received drinks, and were abandoned. Waited for 20 minutes and no one ever came to take our order. So we left. And I had to pay for for soft drinks that we did not get to drink. Several flags warned me this was going to be bad. First the server complained that people would not stop coming in to eat. I recommend the manager fire this person as she obviously hates her job and doesn't want to work there not to mention she is driving business away with her complaining attitude. Second, the table next to us had empty glasses (they are huge too) with chins in palms looking absolutely bored to death, i.e. they had been waiting a long time too. Third, a server brought refills to a table still waiting for their order to arrive. I tried to wait for a server, for anyone to show up, to settle my bill properly but it was obvious they were not interested in serving us. read more

Second time here, per owner's recommendation, ordered a burger (mushroom/provolone). Cooked well, seasoned well, lots of mushrooms and melted cheese. Probably some of the best steak fries I've had. Our server was very nice and attentive. While you shouldn't expect fine dining from a diner or grill, it helps to know that people go here for a reason. STARVING after a morning shooting guns in the hot desert with friends so we all needed some nourishment and Grumpy's sounded like a good idea. A decent selection of beer on tap so a round of 22 oz beers for everyone while we decided on our food. A had the Grumpy's Favorite Burger, a burger topped with creamy peanut butter; R had the Rueben, J had the Crispy Jalapeno Cheeseburger, B had .....I don't actually know because he inhaled it before I could check his plate out at the end of the table!!! And I went with the pastrami and cheese. My pastrami was perfect - nicely grilled with crispy edges and lean, sliced pastrami with gooey melted Swiss cheese all over it. I especially love my pastrami with sliced dill pickle chips on it but so many restaurants only have spears so my sandwich experience was definitely enhanced with the addition of those crunchy pickle chips. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food.however...... a) the buffalo fries were boring - not very spicy at all. b) they forgot the added Swiss cheese to the Favorite Burger so a cold slice was added after the burger was served c) the Crispy Jalapeno burger was served with regular jalapeno slices on it - not the jalapeno bottle caps that were supposed to be on the burger. The substitution of Mexi-Ranch in place of the Buffalo Mayo didn't take place. So a few little mishaps but overall, Grumpy's wins 4 stars. Maybe next time we'll try their breakfast. read more

I decided to try Grumpys breakfast menu. Hearty portions, promptly served hot as the cooks call out the servers whose orders are ready. My coffee cup never went empty and the servers were friendly and kind. The southwest omelet and hashbrowns were good and filling.
