Before going to Galdy
Cookie S.

Another 5 Star experience! Cookie (my 9 month old Shiba) has been shedding her winter coat and there was fur EVERYWHERE!!! After Roy took care of Cookie, I am now able to pet her without a wad of hair sticking to my clothes or hands! Roy was extremely friendly and great with pets that Cookie tried to run back to his arms instead of mine. He even gave her a little bacon treat and a cute bandana to complete her look. It is no wonder other big chained pet grooming centers are trying to poach the AMAZING workers at Galdy! Thank you again for the great service!!

Grooming by Galdy really took take of Rokko! I was able to squeeze him in for his first appointment a few days ago. For starters, the price is about 15% less than what I was paying for in New Jersey. I filled out a basic form on what I wanted and Rokko's information. I was accustomed to an all day process when it came to getting Rokko groomed. I was shocked to be called about an hour after drop off! One of the quickiest grooming experiences ever! I was nervous to see the scissor work honestly. However, when I got back in the shop, Rokko was perfect!

If I could summarize Grooming by Galdy, in two words. It'll be AMAZING & TRUSTWORTHY. Not only will this Bussiness; have your pet fly as fly can be. But the professionalism is what drives me back. The price point is reasonable as well. So if you're in the north side (Rogers park/ Edgewater) area. Please don't hesitate to do Bussiness with Galdy.

Itzel feline divine after her grooming appointment at Galdy's.

This is Itzel, my partners 2 year old domestic longhair and the light of our lives. She had never been groomed before and finding someone that works with cats without breaking the bank isn't common. We were so surprised to find a local shop in Rogers Park, and decided to put our trust in Galdy's for Itzel's first visit. When I tell you my partner was ecstatic with the results, ecstatic doesn't even begin to cover how thrilled we were with Galdy's work. The shop went above and beyond to ensure that Itzel would be well taken care of and guided us with the appropriate grooming services that would benefit our girl. The shop called as soon as she was done and raved about how well she did and that she's welcome back anytime. Itzel is still smelling great almost more than 2 weeks later and she has had so much pep in her step ever since! Galdy's has certainly gained our trust and business with Itzel's first session and we will happily be returning for future visits. If you're in the Rogers Park neighborhood, we give our highest recommendation to Galdy's!

BUDDY'S NEW CUT

Took Buddy for a full service grooming and he came out looking so handsome!! All the staff there was professional and very nice! He gave me advice on taking care of Buddy. He's a Bichon Frise so his fur might need some extra attention but overall it was a great experience. Thank you so much for being gentle with him and helping me with advice! I appreciate it.

Requested deshedding on paper and verbally.. Came home and took off this much?

I've come to Galdy in the past with my husky (whose since passed away). He managed to take several walk-in dog baths and doggy daycare which I was super appreciative about. This was about 3 years ago. Fast forward to last February, I adopted my first cat Mikey and on our third day of having Mikey, he managed to get poop stuck on his bum hole and lick it all over his fur so he smelled VILE. So, the next morning I took him as soon as Galdy opened and Galdy had no appointments that day, but he still took Mikey because I desperately needed him to get a bath. I was super appreciative of his courtesy. Mikey's 2nd bath rolled around and while Mikey smelled clean he kind of seemed like his fur was deeply wiped with a wet wipe?? And that they sprayed some sort of heavy cologne on him which made him smelled good. We had also requested Mikey would be deshedded to get his winter coat out.. but when we came home he had a good amount of fly aways still. Fast forward to today, I recently adopted a 2nd cat named Murphy and he also smelled like the shelter. Was very clear I wanted him to be deshedded because his fur was super dense, super coarse, and he was just shedding like no bodie's business. I wrote on my paper, underlined it, and then I verbally confirmed with person at the front (Not Galdy maybe one of his employees) that I really need him deshedded. He said yes, great okay. My appointment was at 2:30. I brought Murphy over at 2:20. In previous appointments, I've always stayed around the area and waited (except for when Galdy squeezed my first cat in between other appointments the first time). Usually, Galdy finishes before an hour. About 45 minutes have passed and I was wondering why I hadn't gotten a call. I walked in, asked if Murphy was ready, and they told me he would be done by around 5:30. And now I'm confused!! why didn't you start his bath at 2:30? So my new friend (who was very sad he had to go to the groomer let me tell you) was just sitting in the back waiting? Totally unacceptable. If my appointment is 2:30 I expect you to take my animal back then and get it done. And if you're running behind, I want you to tell me. I took a bus ride home and literally steps away from my front door - I got a call that he was ready. Two lyft rides later and we're back home. He still faintly has his animal shelter smell.. and he has his smelly perfume. Hopefully Murphy can clean himself and it will fade away. Bummed out the unprofessionalism with time and the fact that Murphy and Mikey still seemed a bit dirty. Galdy might do you a solid and take you in.. but he may be rushing the service and you will get lackluster results. EDIT: July 1st I'm adding another star for my review for Galdy's prompt response and transparency regarding our experience. I appreciate his commitment to transparency and for continued excellent service.

the best, no other groomer in Chicago has groomed my little baby so perfectly. It almost makes me tear up how cute he looks every time, only groomer in Chicago that we will go to. Everyone is also so friendly and accommodating.

Amazing and trustworthy staff! Love their day care and grooming. Oscar looks like a teddy bear everytime he comes home from a bath/grooming there

Terrible experience. Just picked up my dog from being boarded at Grooming by Galdy's and found these bite marks when I got home.

Ask the Community - Grooming By Galdy

First time "cat-dad," so this may seem an odd question, but is it possible to have a groomer, for just a nail trim, make a house call?

If you live in the rogers park area, Galdy's had mentioned that if we ever needed our cat to get just her nails trimmed for us to drop by, no appointment needed! But I'm not too sure about house calls. Hope this helps!

I was thrilled that Howlistic Grooming had availability and had such stellar reviews. With the large number of dogs in the area, it's a relief knowing we can book here less than a month in advance. They did a great job taking care of our pup, and she was in a happy mood when we picked her up! We've been back again now for a bath and she is in looks fantastic and smells great! Definitely recommend checking them out!

I rarely leave reviews, but I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at Howlistic Grooming…read more This was my dog's second visit, and before leaving him, they specifically asked if he would be receiving the same haircut as last time. I said yes and confidently left, expecting consistency with the previous groom. Unfortunately, that was not the case at all. They cut my dog's hair extremely low and completely ignored the previous grooming guidelines. When I expressed my concerns, the groomer responded by saying When I expressed my concerns, the groomer responded by saying she had "shaved his nails for free," which she said is normally a $10 add-on. I explained that it still didn't address the issue at hand and that it should have either been communicated or charged properly as an add-on if that was the case, because it didn't resolve my concern about the haircut. I was told there was "nothing they could do" and that "for future reference" I should bring a photo. I didn't think a photo was necessary for a repeat appointment when the staff made it seem like they already understood what was expected based on his last service. The manager called the next day, listened to everything that happened, and ultimately only reiterated that they do not offer refunds or discounts. No apology, no empathy, and no accountability for the poor experience. The only response I kept hearing was "for future reference." To make matters worse, my dog's ears were cut so short that he barely even looks like he has ears anymore. The haircut looks nothing like the previous groom, and it's honestly upsetting to look at. Since the appointment, he hasn't even seemed like his usual energetic self. I trusted this salon to care for him properly, and instead I left feeling dismissed and deeply disappointed. A total waste of $80 and a tip. PHOTOS BELOW: As you can see in the attached photos, his beautiful black coat was shaved down entirely too close, leaving his face and ears completely bare.
