If I could give zero I would. This person leaves poop bags all over. Grotty. And allowed my cutie pie to eat something toxic and we spent 1000$ in vets bill. No offer to compensate. No apology just I can't control what pets eat Do not trust them ever! I'll gladly give you a referral for new one my wife and I use. Less expensive, more services and kind, loving. When my husband and I lived in Rogers Park, we had Donia as our dog walker for our little dachshund, Maxi. We have since moved to Evanston and still have not found a dogsitter better than Donia. She was sweet and caring towards our little Maxi and always wrote detailed notes regarding their walks together. It truly broke my heart that we moved just too far away past Donia's work radius. Katje has taken care of my two cats efficiently and with lots of care. She is professional and kind and has made me feel at ease when leaving town. Daily reports by text and suggestions to improve my cats' managing me being away are great approaches to cat sitting. Kim has been great at communicating fees and confirming dates. I have not had any problems with scheduling and have relied on Northside Pets on the regular. I highly recommend. read more

We secured Northside Pets as our preferred walker almost a year ago. Kim, the owner, was attentive, professional, and incredibly responsive upon our first email exchange. She made the entire process seamless and stress-free, and she continues to receive my respect and praise. As dog owners, we have all witnessed those individuals which capture the love of our pets, and I can assure you that Andrés (our primary walker) is a dream to both of my dogs and cat, too. His calm demeanor is a natural gift to one of my easily stimulated pups. He is attentive, always on time, a great communicator, and always has my pet's safety in his best interest. I recently have two new dogs Cesar and Teddy in my home and this brings my dogs to whopping number of 3. After struggling to curb Teddy's habit of peeing midday, I turned to Yelp! And sure enough, I see that my neighbor has used Kim and her wonderful helpers to care for his dogs. So, I send an email and Kim contacts me shortly afterwards. We schedule a time for her to meet all three pooches and it was history. Today, I dropped Cesar off to get groomed, and I get a call wondering if he was missing. (I love that they called to check) Teddy loves our walker Travis and he is now more confident knowing he doesn't "go" in the house anymore. I believe he is happier when his bladder isn't bursting. After a terrible experience with another dog-walking service during the heat wave early last summer, I called my neighbor Kim C., owner of North Side Pets, and haven't looked back! She has provided exceptional service and my lovable lab, Mickey, absolutely adores her. After hearing about my experience with the other service (the dog walker never showed up one day and my big black dog was trapped in a sweltering hot, top-floor apartment for THIRTEEN HOURS! while I was working downtown on a temp assignment), she bent over backwards to stay in touch with me--especially early on before I was able to get an air conditioner for my hot, hot apartment. (Remember how frickin' hot it was last June? I think it was one of the hottest in Chicago history!) Kim's very down to earth, friendly and responsible. I can't say enough about how highly I recommend her. She leaves little notes about her walks and Mickey's antics. She noticed almost immediately how my dog "smiles" when he's happy to see you and even took pictures that I posted on my Facebook page. I hope Kim stays here forever. I can't imagine hiring anybody else to look after my precious pooch. She raises the bar for everyone. read more

I had what i thought was great walker for several months, until i started questioning why my dogs were making more of a mess than ever inside the house, even though they were walked by Sarah daily, as well as walks by me in the morning, evening and late-night. i would arrive home 3 hours after the walk, and find much more mess than i have ever seen them make. The older one does tend to pee/poop in the house, but not within 3 hours of a walk. i know my dogs well (the oldest i have had for 13 years), so i asked my neighbors to keep an eye for the walker, I'm really just wanting to figure this out since I'm spending $360 a month. What they reported back to me was very disturbing. Sarah, my walker, would take the dogs down half a block, turn around same side (not even crossing to make it a little more interesting for them) and walk back, totaling about a 6 or 7 minute walk. on at least one occasion (and this is just the occasion that my neighbors were watching for me), she ran the dogs out to the nearest tree, let them pee, and ran them back in without any chance for pooping or any exercise. as i explained to Sarah when we first met, my oldest dog is terminally ill and its very important that he get exercise and just have company while i'm at work. the fact that she knew this and still shortened the walks down to minutes, makes me furious, and just sad for my dog. I emailed the owner of the company, Kim, explaining that I did not want Sarah back in my home, and told her all of the above. Her immediate response, was this: "I'm not sure what your neighbor thinks they saw but I can assure you I know her much better". i couldn't even believe that she came back with that response first thing, as if multiple, different neighbors all conjured up the same story. i was appalled. another reason she mentioned that I am "wrong" was this: "I can assure you she's often posting cute pics of the dogs like the one she posted on Facebook of Fiona yesterday. She would never neglect them." i mean, is this person serious?! because Sarah posted a pic of my dog on Facebook, that means my neighbors are all separately delusional about the exact same thing?! i believe the medical term for that is Folie à deux, and I'm thinking that's not what is happening here. there were a couple more emails exchanged, and they were mostly her telling me that i am wrong, my neighbors are wrong, and that switching walkers would be "silly". i cant believe this person runs a business this way. In her last email, she told me she refuses to communicate with me via email anymore, if i want to talk to her, to call her. i have no interest in talking to her just to listen to her say the same bulls*** she emailed me about. and refusing to email with me is just beyond something i even want to deal with. She also told me that she will not be returning my keys (including a key that i put a $50 deposit on with my landlord) until i pay her for the last week of walks (which totaled about 30 minutes of walking for 5 days). i obviously refused to pay her for services I didn't receive, so she took the liberty of contacting my family member on Facebook, and asking her to "forward payment, and Allison has accused Sarah of terrible things, Allison refuses to talk to me so i cant put this to rest". WOW. There were a few more excuses from both Sarah and Kim, such as that sometimes she has to take the dogs out another way, in another direction, but what they are not listening to is the fact that neighbors can see all the doors, they are not stupid, they are not high, they are not insane. I get that Kim has known Sarah for a few years, and she trusts her, but as we all know, not everyone is who they say they are. i hope Sarah and Kim don't screw over any more elderly dogs, or humans for that matter. And don't be fooled by all the five star reviews - 99% of them are from 6 and 7 years ago, perhaps before Sarah worked there. One additional thing, now that I have a new walking service, I have not ONCE come home to a mess, which is terrific and I'm finally pleased with my services; now if that doesn't tell you something, I don't have anything else to say. read more

My dog and I seriously love Kim at North Side pets. Gizmo looks forward to his afternoon walks and I trust her with my baby who means everything to me. I'm confused by that other review because I have had nothing but good experiences. I have a security camera with alerts so I know she's with my baby for the full time. Now that I have a different walking service whose service has been sub-par (questionable walk duration, days for the owner to get back to your email), I realize how good I had it before with North Side Pets. My pup, Wallace, was walked by Valerie and Donia throughout the year and both were great at sending photos and descriptive texts of his walks everyday, and I could tell both adored Wallace and gave him lots of love. Kim, the owner, was always super communicative and easy to reach about scheduling and payment (including morning-of cancellations and last-minute walks). Kim has been walking my Remmy since August of 2011. She is wonderful! The service is great and I know that my dog loved her. I really can't recommend North side pets strongly enough. We had several bad experiences with other walkers in the area (most commonly, completely lying to us about the length of time walking). Our pup loves them, and they're completely trustworthy. (So, so important when you're trusting someone with your pets and in your home when you're not there.)
